Where Was 'Wednesday' Filmed? | Condé Nast Traveler

"Built in 1911 in Neo-Romanian style and used as the show’s exterior Nevermore Academy, Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni was once the summer home of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, later owned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs after World War II, and has since been restored and opened to the public with sculptures and artworks throughout its grounds and interior as well as two restaurants and an adventure park for children." - Sarah James, Connor Sturges

The castle itself is fairly small but cool and the tour was informative but a bit slow paced. If you’re not really into the history, I would recommend just strolling the grounds at your own pace and then having a nice cold beer at the cafe outside. Plenty of outdoor patio seating with extremely beautiful views of the mountains nearby. Quite the spot to relax and enjoy being alive 🙏

Much calmer and less touristy compared to the other attractions nearby. You can park nearby for free, but you have to pay to visit the castle. Very beautiful, with some gorgeous views of the mountains tho.

THEFT OF THINGS AT THE ENTRANCE! The castle is very beautiful, more on the outside than on the inside. It's worth a visit but the ticket price is too high for a tour of the interior. If you don't take a tour inside, it's not a big omission, the lower floor is arranged as standard as most villas of the same type in Bucharest, and there is a gallery on the upper floor. The additional part for the tour in the building from the courtyard is pure improvisation, not worth even close to 15 lei for the entrance fee. The average is that you should go around BUT ALSO KEEP YOUR THINGS BECAUSE WE WERE BULLED AT THE ENTRANCE, THEY STOLEN SOME THINGS FROM OUR MOTORCYCLE, WHICH TOTALLY RUINED OUR ENJOYMENT.

I read the reviews and many people are confused about the tours and ticket prices. I hope these photos help to those who do not speak Romanian – taken on August 14, 2025. We only visited the gardens (25 RON); they are beautifully maintained and, of course, very popular thanks to the Wednesday series, so the ticket prices reflect that popularity.

Beautiful location with stunning view of Mountains. The tour inside is well worth doing even if you don't speak Romanian as there is an app to translate the key information. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning. Great for Wednesday fans but even if you're not it is stunning and not to be missed. Parking within the gates is a major bonus and the restaurant is very good.

When I visited the castle six years ago, it was almost empty, with not many visitors and almost nothing to see inside. Now, in 2025, they have added more furniture, and the tour was much better. I bought a full tour with secret room access. The tour was at 17:00 and completed at 18:00; the secret room was closed at 18:00, so I paid extra for nothing.

First of all, the place itself was heavenly: I’ve never seen a garden quite as vast and beautiful! The tour guide was amazing and did her very best to offer a comprehensive, immersive experience (if the employer is reading this, she deserves a raise). Lastly, for the Wednesday fans, there’s lots of thematic content. All in all, the steep price of the visit was more than well deserved. Here’s some photos I’ve taken: perhaps they’ll convince you.
