While planning my trip to Morelia, I quickly realized that the city doesn’t have the major hotel chains I typically stay with. Based on a friend’s recommendation and some online research, I decided to try the Cantera Diez Hotel Boutique - and it was truly the perfect choice. Booking directly through the hotel’s website was simple, though one small recommendation would be to improve the booking system by sending a confirmation email with the reservation details. As it stands, you need to go back into the system to view your booking. Not a big deal, but a confirmation email with room type and other specifics would add a nice touch. Now, onto the arrival experience. The hotel is located right in the heart of Morelia’s city center, directly across from the stunning cathedral. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and my first impression of the property was one of pure admiration. Housed in a beautifully preserved Spanish colonial building, Cantera Diez masterfully balances the historic charm of its architecture with a modern, stylish boutique hotel atmosphere. It’s a rare blend that feels both authentic and luxurious. Check-in was smooth, with friendly service and a choice of water or Mezcal to refresh me after my journey. I was then shown to my room on the first floor, where most of the rooms are located, surrounding a lovely central courtyard. The layout is both stylish and cozy, creating an inviting, tranquil space right in the heart of the old town. The room itself was beautiful, with high ceilings and plenty of natural wood, including the iconic wooden floors, which I absolutely adored. Walking across them and hearing the soft creak added a layer of charm that made the experience feel genuine and connected to the building’s history. The decor of the room was thoughtfully designed, with just the right amount of branding and small touches that added character without feeling overdone. The bathroom was cozy and more than spacious enough, complementing the room’s overall aesthetic perfectly. A delightful surprise was the mini bar, stocked with a selection of drinks and snacks, all complimentary - a generous gesture that made me feel even more welcomed. The bed deserves a special mention as well; it was incredibly comfortable, ensuring I had restful, undisturbed sleep each night. Throughout the day, the hotel offers tea, coffee, water, and snacks in the central courtyard, a lovely touch that enhances the boutique feel of the stay. The staff at Cantera Diez were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful. They provided excellent recommendations for things to see and do in Morelia and were eager to accommodate any special requests. Each interaction reinforced the warm, inviting atmosphere that makes this hotel so special. While I didn’t get a chance to dine at the hotel’s restaurant, I was impressed by the beautiful setup and ambiance. The dishes and drinks I saw looked visually appealing and well-prepared, and the restaurant’s decor seamlessly fit into the hotel’s overall charm. In summary, my stay at Cantera Diez Hotel Boutique exceeded all my expectations. I haven’t had such an impressive hotel experience in years, and it truly stands out as one of my most memorable stays. From the thoughtful design and incredible location to the attentive staff and cozy rooms, this hotel captures something genuinely unique. I highly recommend Cantera Diez to anyone visiting Morelia - it’s an experience that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

Waiters talks to much to slow to serve. I requested a plate and food was cold when it should be hot. They missed an ingredient on my order and portions are to small for the price we pay. They are not friendly plus..the dish is broken and and ugly presentation. PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR SERVICES!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We fould the staff so very friendly from the moment we arrived. Learning the history of the building, wandering the halls and sitting in the enclosed patio to soak up the atmosphere were part of the charm of our stay. The view from the terrace of the cathedral is unparralled! The rooms are extremely comfortable, with a perfect blend of old-world feel with up-to-date luxury. Everything from start to finish was just WOW!

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for a bit more than a week, one word review: MAJESTIC. This hotel is in an ideal location, our room faced the beautiful Cathedral. Staff makes you feel like you’re at home. The bell boy, Hugo, goes out of his way to assure a comfortable stay. They have a binder of services that includes travel guides, spa service, room services, golf ling recommendations, and even a pillow service!! 5-star experience, will definitely come back every time I am in Morelia.

I'd be very careful to eat here, I've waited for 1 hour to get my food, it came cold, and not what I asked for. The waiter have a terrible attitude almost as if they were making you a favor for attending you. REFRAIN FROM VISITING THIS PLACE

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant only (NOT the hotel)... I was in Morelia with my mom and a friend one Saturday in August of this year and found out that they do a fireworks show at Catedral (the main church in Morelia) on Saturdays, and we decided to have dinner at the Portales right across from it when we stumbled upon Cantera Diez. I know street food in Michoacán is amazing, but I still don't expect much from restaurants, but as far as restaurants go Cantera exceeded my expectations. The food is great, the drinks are delicious and fresh, the service is courteous, and the view of the cathedral is good. I made a quick stop in Morelia today before heading to the airport and decided I needed to go back to this place, and I'm still happy I did.

Yelp
This is nice hotel in town square Moralia City Mexico and this place have a good location for walk to everywhere around that's mean restaurant, Bar, Nightclubs and shopping area. One thing I don't like it a bathroom Coz so naked. Lol but that good for couple not good for friend. :)

Yelp
This place is fantastic! The staff was VERY helpful and the location of the Hotel is phenomenal. Right in front of the Cathedral. I'm surprised they didn't have people who spoke anything other than Spanish. I speak French, Farsi, English, I can get by in Spanish and Italian but they only had hispanophones. So they lost half a point there. So this is really a 4.5 The restaurant's food was delicious, very reasonably priced, and very clean when we went. The hotel staff puts out fruit infused water out in the common area which is just a sublime place to just HANG OUT... I never just hang out when I'm traveling, but this place was worth it. Cantera Diez. My fiancée and I miss you and can't wait to come visit you again.

Yelp
Had a great time in Morelia. Came for my father in laws wedding. The food at the hotel was fantastic and a great price considering the exchange rate for the dollar. The cocktails were incredible but a little short on the booze. By the end of our 5 day trip I had switched to drinking cerveza. The staff was very accommodating: brought us anything we needed upon request and allowed us to have a private rooftop massage and dinner. Hotel is right across the street from the cathedral. Great people watching.

Yelp
Do not order steak and you will be fine. Typical Mexican menu, drinks are good.

Yelp
Good location. Filthy restaurant. A broom and a dirty bucket next to our table. Fair wine list. The problem is that the wines listed are not available. Mc Donald's alike napkins. No bread, salsas or butter like in the rest of restaurants in Mexico. We did not tried the food because we walked away after being waiting 15 minutes for the waiter to return to our table. Many better options nearby.
