Restaurante Cantina 32

Visited with a reservation. We ordered the one octopus and legendary tiger prawn. The prawn was ok, the garlic oil sauce was great to go with some more bread. The octopus was not as good as expected considering all the complimenting reviews and its price range. Some of the tentacles even cooked burnt. I felt this place was a sort of tourist trap, where you can take a nice octopus photo to post, but the tase didn’t live up to hype.

This was one of the best meals I had in Porto, from the moment you walk you into the restaurant you immediately feel like you have entered a different world, a vibe that is so different from the high street. The decoration of the place is unique with very interesting art pieces. Food wise it was delightful, we had the octopus legs and steak, price wise on the higher end of the spectrum but portions were so big and everything was cooked to perfection. For me it is a must go in Porto as you will taste something more refined than normal places.

The service was quick and responsive and we were helped throughout the lunch. The steak was ok but the outdoor venue made the food cool quicker than usual. The octopus 🐙 with tomato is also tasty bit the portions light be on the larger side. The shrimp and pumpkin soup was excellent. A bit on the expensive side.

Excellent octopus! Very tasty. Nice presentation. Price quality for octopus also good. The othet things were a bit on the expensive side. Especially the tuna appetizer. And the salad (lettuce) which was literally a quarter lettuce with dome cheese but almost 4€. The alheir crockets on the other hand were very nice and tasty really like alhier sausage. The banana butter, olives and bread were part of the curvert (2.50 pp). They were of good quality but we were a bit dissapointed that we got the same amount of bread butter and olices with the 5 of us as other people that were with a party of 2. (The banana butter tasted really like banana and was tasty as well.) We couldnt order a big bottle of water to share (nor still nor sparkling) only small bottles. The ambience was very nice. All in all. Nice restaurant for octopus. A bit on the expensive side. Service could be a bit more generouz looking at the water and the curvert.

Every visit to Cantina 32 was an absolute delight. The food is delicious and carefully prepared, and the service is truly exceptional – attentive, kind, and professional. We returned three nights in a row because we felt so welcome, and by the second evening, the staff even greeted us by name, which was a wonderfully personal touch. A special mention goes to John, our waiter, who was always polite, attentive, and truly professional. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a refined and welcoming dining experience in Porto.

Excellent restaurant - we were passing and popped in for lunch. Very friendly waiter advised the kitchen was closing in 10 mins but still invited us in. We were not rushed and the service and food was excellent. Atmosphere very relax and all the staff very pleasant

Awesome food, we had the squid and shrimps. So delicious! The kind of meal you need to repeat. Service was also top. Reservations recommended but still they have some space for walk ins.

Under no circumstances should you get the banana cheesecake. Came for a light dinner. Everything was presented well and had good taste. The squid was a bit too heavy on the butter.

Splurged for the octopus and shared among 3 of us which was plenty! Best we've ever had! Duck pate with what seemed like a boysenberry sauce. Great, attentive service. Unique cozy atmosphere.

We did not have reservations and was able to go in 10 mins to 2:00pm and the restaurant will close for break at 3pm. We only ordered one of their signature dish "Octopus ". Taste is ok but it should have more taste of extra virgin olive oil with garlic. It is kind of expensive for this dish. If the taste is good I don't mind to pay 42.00 Eur. I guess it is not the taste that I preferred. Restaurant atmosphere is comfortable and surrounding is comfortable.

Lucky find! It was our last night in Porto, and we had just returned from an all-day tour. We were hungry and not in the mood to spend too much time looking for a place to eat. We decided to walk into the first restaurant that looked good to us, and Cantina 32 was there. Cantina 32 is on Rua das Flores street that offers many restaurant options. It is an industrial-chic restaurant that offers classic local dishes and new creations. Their signature dish is a whole grilled octopus that can feed two. But my significant other is not too crazy about octopus, so we ordered a salad, croquettes (Delicious), sesame tuna (delicious), and a couple of glasses of wine before sharing a Wood Grilled Veal Steak. The ambiance is exciting and certainly comfortable. The decoration will grab your attention. And the service is excellent.

Enjoyed lunch here with friends and my francesinha was yummy! Very convenient location and great atmosphere.

I ordered the Franceshina sandwich and the beef was grissly and could not be chewed. I tried to chew it and could not. So I left it and the manager came over and I told him. He said you either like it or you don't ... they still charged me the full price even though I only took a few bites.

My friend and I visited Cantina on a friend's recommendation while we were in Porto a few weeks ago. We found the restaurant to be a veritable tourist trap. The service was mediocre at best, the food was pretty average, and I wouldn't go back if I had the option. We were drinking red wine by the glass and each time the server came around she kept pouring ridiculously small amounts of wine, and yet we were being charged by the glass. For food, we tried the cod "bras" style (good presentation but not the best cod I had in Portugal (be FAR), the fries (best thing I ate there), the tuna tataki and a few other dishes that weren't at all memorable. In conclusion, I'd recommend skipping it.

Great food and service! Di not get the chocolate "cake" dessert..... frozen. Was told I needed to wait 5 minutes before eating it........ overall good experience.

Nice dinner experience here, prices are reasonable, food is very authentic, although some dishes are bit salty. Came here at the recommendation of our tour guide, and certainly did not disappoint. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share. I got a bowl of chicken gizzard and that was very interesting. They did a great job cooking it, soft, flavorful, and still retain the natural flavor of the meet. It was season very well. The mozzarella cheese ball was also really good, fresh ingredients, really fresh cheese. The restaurant was really busy. Service was decent, absent at times. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The squid is soooo delicious- I had to eat here twice (in a 4 day stay). The only reason I didn't return third time is because they are closed on Sunday! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The sangria! The octopus! The cheesecake served in a ceramic pot and looks like a plant! Cantina 32 is delightful!

This place is so cute and the service is great! We had 2 small dishes (mozzarella and the sautéed squid) and both were very delicious. We also got he boar and chose to get the mushroom rice. We actually found the mushroom rice to be the tastiest out of everything we ate. It took a while to get the boar/rice, but it was tasty in the end! We also capped it off w a bottle of white wine! :) I give it 4 stars only bc it was blazing hot inside the restaurant. A lot of people were fanning themselves inside. I think the air might have been broken but oh man.... I was sweating through the whole meal. Other than the heat, this place def had a great atmosphere and food.

Best meal that I had in Porto and very reasonably priced! It seems as though reservations may be necessary in high season, though since I was dining solo, I was lucky to snag a table walking in. The squid poached in butter and coriander was incredible, and perfect with bread (get the couvert for 2 euros and then you can try their banana butter). The bacon wrapped quail eggs were a fun appetizer as well. One of those times that I wish I had company, as I would have loved to try more items! The wine was really great too- most of what's on the menu is from a winery owned by a friend of the owner.

Everything was delicious, especially the banana butter, squid, croquettes, fries 32. Cool atmosphere, would go back! Great service.

This was by far the best meal we had in all of Portugal! It's very difficult to get an appointment at this super hip, cool restaurant but we were persistent and got a table for 10 pm the following day. So glad we were patient, didn't eat anything after 3 pm and made our reservation. Everything we ordered here, from starters to main course to dessert was extraordinary! Oh that banana butter...! A must have with their delicious, freshly baked bread. Jalapeño chili peppers, mushroom rice, squid. Everything exceeded expectations! We will go to Porto again just to have a meal at Cantina 32!

We decided that since we were out of the country over the holiday, we would celebrate the anti-Thanksgiving - and what better place than somewhere serving steak? Good sign number one was that while many restaurants were not full this place was packed and turning people away. We had about a 20 to 25 minute wait, but that time passed very comfortably in large easy chairs with a glass of wine. As always here in Porto , the meal began Nice Portuguese bread and olives, with a little bit of a twist - Lupas beans with the olives - and something called banana butter with the bread. Both nice additions. Or starter was a Cream of pumpkin soup have a nice orange rind spice. Followed by beef carpaccio's served with shaved Foie gras, Parmesan , and truffle oil. Main course was a roughly 10 or 12 ounce steak. I can't place the cut - perhaps it was an extra thick flank steak not sure. But it was cooked medium rare and it was really flavorful. Both the steak and the potatoes were grilled. We had a bottle of wonderful Douro Valley red with dinner and a chocolate tort with crème fraîche for dessert. Honestly I haven't had a wine here I didn't like- they are both inexpensive and delicious. All in €70 with tip. Now that's what I call the "anti-thanksgvibg". i

I really wanted to like this place. After being turned away one night due to no reservation, we made one for the following night. We arrived early, and they accommodated us, which was great. However, once seated, no server approached us for 10-15 minutes. The ambience is fantastic, and the food is generally good, but the service needs improvement. Our young server was apologetic and trying, but I had to remind her a couple of times about missed items for our table while tables that arrived later were being served. Apart from those instances, she didn't check on us for drink or water refills. It was our last night in Porto, so we left feeling meh from the experience.

Cantina 32 is a must visit when in Porto. Reservations are recommended but they took walk-ins right when the doors opened. You'll get seated at one of their communal tables. Bread, butter banana, and olives are brought to your table. Per a Bon Appetit article, albeit it was about Lisbon, I decided to try the port tonic but it had too much orange zest for me and was a bit bitter. The two other couples at our table each enjoyed a bottle of wine. We started with the sauteed squid which was swimming in butter and coriander; great for dipping your bread in. It was so flavorful--just enough saltiness and sweetness of the butter. It was my favorite of the meal. Then my husband and I shared the grilled chuck steak with potatoes. The steak was so tender. I think I heard my husband say, "Oh my." The dish was more than enough for the two of us. We didn't put a dent in the potatoes and there were two pieces of steak left. We were so full we had to turn down dessert. So sad. Dining at Cantina 32 is really a treat and a wonderful experience.

Surprisingly good food. The portions were more than enough and the taste and quality were great. The steak was super tender and their complimentary bread delicious. I would highly recommend and wish I ate there my second night. Chocolate and carrot cakes were not like a traditional cake texture but both were delicious. The sorbet with vodka should be avoided, though.

After a recent event, we decided to walk around Baixa, and stumbled upon this restaurant. Lucky for us, we were able to snatch 2 seats in their communal table, since getting a reservation here apparently is not that easy. The ambiance is nice, dim lighting, high ceilings and sort of a vintage/industrial decor. We started by ordering one of our faves bottles of wine, Quinta de Santiago. Followed by portobello mushrooms stuffed with cheese (so good!) and as our main entree, we ordered the Grilled Cod fish with baked potatoes. Overall, our meal was tasty and satisfying. Portions are big enough to share and the prices are reasonable. Waiters are very nice and attentive.

Everything was really good with the squid and banana flower pot dessert being the highlights. I really hate to knock this restaurant since the food and service was great but got a bad case of food poisoning and spent the next day in the hospital. It was likely the squid and prob just bad luck but be aware. I cant say for certain it was the squid but it was definitely the most likely cause based on what I ate, it's too bad since it was a really good dish.

I loved the squid appetizer! I'd recommend ordering it with bread to make it a full lunch meal.The sauce was great--somewhat of a chimichurri--and very acidic. The bread enhanced the meal by neutralizing the acidic flavor.

A small door at Rua das Flores hides this amazing chic urban restaurant. Under the command of the chef Luis Americo, the kitchen offers dishes for snacks and for lunch or dinner. We arrived without a reservation and were able to sit at a high table to share with 8 places in the background. Best possible option. As the table is high, we have an amazing view of everything that happens in the restaurant and it is very comfortable. We started with a couvert with lupins, olives and rustic breads, olive oil and butter with sea salt. Then we asked for the veal with punched potatoes and a green salad to share. The meat comes in a Frying pan with an olive oil and herbs sauce. Delicious and enough to share. We did not order dessert but the house has a pearl: cheesecake that comes in a pot like it was a plant.

We liked this place so much that we decided to come back a couple of days later. The decor is a very trendy brushed concrete while their food is served on mismatched plates. On our first visit we came on a busy Saturday evening and only managed to get a table because of a late cancellation. We shared the beef steak between us, with came with roasted potatoes and a salad. On the second visit we came for lunch as it was opening and again it filled up pretty quickly around us. On a second visit I had tuna and the wife ordered the cod but really one of those dishes with a side would have been fine for us. The bread they bring out while you wait for the main course is brilliant. The prices were very reasonable too, I would definitely go back a third time if I ever go back to Porto.

High expectations because if all the reviews, we ordered the tuna and after the cheesecake. We both ended up with severe food poisoning. Definitely from this place because we didn't share anything anywhere else yesterday.

We enjoyed our first stop at Cantina 32 that we returned the next night as well! Both nights, we sat on the outdoor patio and had the outdoor menu (more appetizers and drinks, for the full menu, get a table indoors). We had the sausage croquettes and cheese platter, which was one of the best I've ever had. It comes with pumpkin jam that is to die for. We also enjoyed the lupini beans and olives and a bottle of vinho verde wine from the nearby Douro valley. Their lemonade is quite good as well, and be sure to try their banana pudding - it's served in a pot with crumbled cookie on top and is so good! The ambiance of their outdoor patio is lovely, and the service is friendly and efficient!

Waiters and waitresses are very kind and friendly. Me and my friend tried the beef steak with potato and Bacalhau à Bras, which are so delicious. One more thing I would mention is their homemade butter!! It's worth a try!

Decided to book this restaurant 3 days in advance after reading many good reviews. We were told by locals that it was very touristy and that we could find better in Porto. Yet we still decided to forge our own opinion. The food is good but I honestly expected better. The couvert which consists of banana butter and a bowl of mixed olives and beans was nice. As a starter, the iceberg lettuce with bacon and blue cheese was very tasty but the portion was enormous. The pumpkin soup was pretty much tasteless. After hearing many good reviews about it, we were probably unlucky that day. The seafood stew was good, but after a couple bites the overwhelming saltiness of the dish was unpleasant. Again I can't say if they simply missed it that day. Finally the service was lacking. The waiters mixed up our orders but also the bills at the end..

Great atmosphere in this place, but don't come for this, as great atmosphere isn't enough these days. No come for an amazing food experience, that will surprise you every bite of the way. We had quail eggs, followed by amazing squid as starter with its surprising mustard sauce, then the squid and gambas stew and it's magical sauce, and finishing with the meringue with chocolate and berries. I have to say that I've rarely seen such an honest waiter who told me that the francesinhas were not their specialty and also told us that one stew was going to be enough for two (and he was right). As We got lucky we also shared a big table with another couple who were really great fun. See, why to settle for just great atmosphere?

The food was very tasty but Nothing that you didn't taste before. The interior of the restaurant is nice.

This spot was a dream! Our waiter put together a platter of starters to taste - some we selected and some he recommended. It was delicious and they did a great job with proportions. Then we had the boar with rice and it was DIVINE! Absolutely delicious. The staff was helpful and they gave us a waiter who spoke English which made it easier. I recommend this to anyone - but definitely call ahead for a reservation or show up early to grab a table (opens at 6:30).

Very interesting food! Pumpkin soup infused with orange, fried octopus with sweet potato, tuna steak with pineapple (very good and plenty big to share), couscous and veggies, banana butter with bread (Mmmmmm!) and the cheesecake dessert! Nom nom. We enjoyed it all. Sat at the shared table bc we didn't have a reservation, but had plenty of space/privacy and were very happy with our experience.

We had a nice dinner here - service was lovely, and the squid and salad was especially good. The dishes were creative and fun, and some surprised us, but there were a few flops as well.

All I got to say is WOW. The food here is AMAZING. THE ATMOSPHERE was perfect. The old English style share tables were awesome. I have been in Portugal for 10 days and this was by far the best meal I have had. From appetizers to the main course. Excellent. We will be coming back before we leave. Nothing bad to say about this place at all. W O W

Had a great experience here for dinner after Porto beat Wales in the Eurocup semis. We were seated almost immediately and had friendly service after trying to get a table here almost three times beforehand during our stay in Porto. (They also have menus in English, just ask!) We ordered: - a pitcher of lemonade: now although this may seem trivial, it's absolutely amazing and super refreshing. Highly recommended. - tuna tataki: skip this dish, it's incredibly salty and super small, added no value - squid appetizer: great, a tad salty (sensing a theme here) but super good and good size to share a few bites between two - franceszinha (forgive my spelling): we only ordered this because our local friends said it was somethin you had to try at least once and it's a sandwich with meat that's enveloped in cheese swimming in a bath of tomato sauce - typically served with fries. I didn't eat any of it because my moms boyfriend ordered it but he said it was very good and there wasn't much left over - portobello mushroom w goat cheese: great flavors in this dish! Really liked it and wish it were bigger!! - duck liver (pate): now, the berries on top of this make the dish, yum yum yum! The serving size is big for one person so make sure a few people are on board with this one or it's a lot of pâté for one! Side notes: the ambiance is really great, love the decor and the vibes in this place. Would recommend to anyone visiting Porto!

Very good. We went in the afternoon between lunch and dinner so they only had appetizers. The cured salmon and iceberg salad with bacon, pear, and walnuts were both creative dishes. The caprese was also good. We would like to go back for a full meal.

I had a wonderful dinner at Cantina 32 tonight. The banana flavored butter (for the table bread) was a pleasant surprise. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the service was fantastic!

Enjoyed dinner here last night and would rate the food and ambiance of this restaurant a 5/5 stars. The service was quite poor though. We were seated right away but it took some time for our waitress to come over and take our order. When I told her I had a dairy allergy, she sent another male server over to take our order. After giving me attitude about my very severe food allergy, he went back and forth to the kitchen to check on things. Finally, we were able to order the cassava chips, tuna tataki, tuna steak, and steak. We enjoyed our tasty appetizers and then our steak came out, which was fantastic. After we finished eating, we waited 40 minutes for the server to clear the plate and then he asked if we wanted dessert. We were confused because we were still waiting for the other half of our main courses. He then realized he forgot to bring us the tuna steak and with attitude asked if we still wanted it because we had been sitting at the table for a long time and they needed it back for another reservation (note, we were only seated for such a long time because the service was so slow). While the food is good and decor trendy, I would have preferred to enjoy my meal at a restaurant whose servers had less attitude.

We thought their pumpkin soup was bland. But they took that back without a problem. Everything else was amazing. My beef steak cooked to perfection. The winner were the quail eggs and bacon breaded and friend. The banana butter also a nice touch. We arrived at around 10 pm on a Monday with no reso.... They were full! We waited only about ten min.

We went twice, since the food and service to were so great. They were very friendly and accommodating of our two little kids. The whole octopus was perfectly cooked and delicious as well.

Came upon this place by chance on our first evening in Porto and we loved it so much we came back for lunch! Both time we ordered from the " snacks and sharers " menu (three dishes + fries) which was plenty for the two of us. The coriander squid and the grilled black pudding were particularly exceptional in terms of flavours. Even the fries are combined with an intriguing balsamic dip. All in all we loved every mouthful of this charming, relaxed place. The service was also impeccable, attentive but not overbearing. Good value for money with bills both times below €40. Wish they were opening in London!
