A Complete Guide to Dining in LoHi

"One of Denver’s most celebrated chefs, Dana Rodriguez, also happens to operate her own tequila and mezcal brand, Doña Loca; this funky-chic LoHi newcomer is a showcase for those and other agave spirits, like sotol and raicilla, as well as for the Mexican fare that pairs with them so well. Don’t miss the cactus tempura and the fried fish tacos; look too for frequent specials such as chicken mole rojo and lamb birria." - Josie Sexton, Eater Staff, Ruth Tobias

26 Essential Denver Bars

"In a lovely, lively space centered around a towering sculpture of flowering branches, powerhouse chef Dana Rodriguez showcases her own agave spirits brand, Doña Loca, both in straight pours and in cocktails like the Espresso Martinez with reposado tequila, cold brew, coffee and coconut liqueur, and chocolate bitters; best paired with it all are snacks like nopales fritos with chipotle aioli, flautas de papa, and, of course, tacos galore." - Ruth Tobias, Josie Sexton, Eater Staff

Good service and some really interesting menu items and spirits. Happy to see Dana has her own place! Had a kind of mashed potato taco that was pretty good, but highlight for me was the spirit list, traditional tacos and dessert. In particular, they blacken the fish frying batter with charcoal which added a great smokey, bitter element. Dessert was also good with a sweet filled croissant drizzled with Dulce de Leche.

Beautiful restaurant! It’s stunning from the moment you walk in. We waited maybe 15 mins for a table on a Friday night. The service was fantastic, we got our food quickly and our server made sure we really liked what we ordered. The playa loca mocktail is the best zero proof cocktail I’ve ever had- the fresh pineapple it comes with was a great touch. The churro croissant is heaven. Do your table a favor and order two of those. It’s a perfect spot for friends but this would also make an impressive date night. Definitely check this place out.

Everything, including the cocktails were delicious. The appetizers were unique and flavorful. The dishes were great for sharing and our party of 7 tried almost the whole menu. I will definitely go back.

I'm so glad we finally stopped in to check out this spot across from Zuni St. Brewing. It was a Friday evening and didn't have reservations but we were seated within about 10 min. In the meantime the host graciously sat us at stools long enough to get some margaritas before we got to our table. I had a skinny margarita and it was sooooo good, it wasn't too sweet or too sour! We started with fresh chips and guacamole with roasted pepitas, another winner! I ordered a Carne Asada taco and a Baja Fish taco and that was plenty of food. The fish taco was one of the best I think I've ever had. My husband ordered the Carne Asada a la cart with tortillas and a side of the cilantro rice and beans. OMG get the rice and beans!!! They were so amazing and I'm not usually that big on rice and beans. The service was great, everyone was very friendly. They seem to do a team effort style of service which was handled very well. This will definitely be on our regular rotation of dinner spots!

Was disappointed. The food was okay but for the price, I’d rather have gone elsewhere. As others have mentioned, the salsa to start off is tiny. I tried the Caesar Salad, it does not come with meat and they only have steak and fried fish as an option. The tacos were average. It was good to try but we won’t return.

Food quality couldn't be better! We loved every dish and the family sharing style. All apps and drinks were delicious! We appreciated the warm atmosphere, everyone who served us were willing to go along with our silly and sarcastic demeanor. We will definitely be back for any random occasion!

My husband and I enjoyed such a wonderful meal at Cantina Loca. We visited in a Friday evening and there was only a short wait before we were able to sit at the bar. The service was fantastic as was the cocktail selection. I love mezcal and other agave spirits and they had a nice little collection with a bartender that was knowledgeable as well. The food was all incredible. We shared several tacos include the COCHINITA PIBIL, CARNE ASADA and BARBACOA. We also got POLLO ADOBADO and CILANTRO-RICE & BLACK BEANS. We were stuffed but happy. The sauces were all good as well. I’d make this a staple if I lived in Denver.
