The food was excellent! All fresh & tasty! The restaurant was full of locals, we were the only tourists, so if you don’t speak Italian be ready to use google translate:)

Exceptional restaurant near the sea! Their staff speaks excellent English, were very kind and helpful, both on phone for reservation and during our dinner experience ! The food was fresh, delicious and very well priced. We had an amazing time as a couple and will definitely return!

After spending all day near the beach we were recommended this place from local guy. Generally every fishes are so cheap comparing with the restaurants in Florence. But the quality was impressive. Especially Baccala fritta was amazing. Their vino della casa is wonderful as well!!! The fish of cacciucco could be cooked less. And the crab in the pasta was too hard to bite but the dish costs only 10euro and it was rich in flavor of crab so I still give 5stars :)

We have tuscan seafood in tomato sauce , squid risotto, 2 plates of calamari ( cos its so good ), a bowl of mussels, tiramisu, fried cod and home made pasta. The service is fast and prompt. It's mostly very good. We are happy to find this resturant.

Tucked away in a small street of Livorno, this restaurant serves the freshest and tastiest food I had so far in Italy. Known for its seafood, their dishes do not disappoint. Must tries will include their mussel and clam soup, and the pasta arriabatta. 👌

We had the famous Cacciucco. And what can I say, it was the most disgusting thing I ever ate in Italy. I actually ordered the Fish Soup, which was supposed to be 10€. For some reason they brought this and I thought it is their interpretation of a soup. Whatever, just 10€. It was cold and I could not identify most of it. First I was excited but everything tasted kinda off. Even the bread we were given before was hard and just not good bread. My excitement vanished after trying most of it. I ate less than half. When we paid I realized I had no fish soup but the specialty of the region for 25€. For that money we could have had something nice, though. I had to throw up a couple of hours later. I still felt kinda sick in my stomach the next day. Two days later I was back to normal but I remember this being the worst meal of all of italy. DISGUSTING 🤮

Yelp
My husband and I took the on- off bus into Livorno, from our cruise ship. We took a lovely canal boat tour, which I highly recommend. Afterward we took a 17 minute walk into town to look for a restaurant. We found Cantina Senese had 5 star reviews. As we approached the restaurant, we were excited. We found that at 3pm, they close until 6 pm. It was 2:38 pm so they allowed us to eat an outstanding, fresh meal, complete with Dolce, dessert! We enjoyed a meal with fresh fish , chicken schnitzel and a half bottle of red wine. As the restaurant staff are their meal, we savored ours. It was an amazing and delicious experience! Thank you to the people of Cantina Senese. If you are traveling Livorno, stop for lunch at, www.ristoranteCantinaseneselivorno .com

Yelp
The place was crawling with locals. Though the menu says they have chicken etc they really only serve seafood. I had the cod and my companion had the seafood bouillabaisse. It was quite warm as there is no a/c used at this time of year (May). The wait staff don't speak much English and the menus are only in Italian. Such an American lol

Yelp
We know Paolo, the Oste of Cantina Senese for decades we used to go this place when it was built a simple local wine seller offering some cheeses and affettati and sott'olii. Paolo knows Livorno in his heart. Cantina senese was a typical evening hang out of livornese painters, bohemiennes and "borgo" people (since the place is located in a neighbor of Livorno called "borgo"). Anytime I come back to Livorno I always try there as pillinigrinage to one of the most important hosts of the underground livornese culture. Paolo is a down to earth person and his place has remained the same it used to when it was a wine and olive oil shop. He has added the most tasteful delicacies of the traditional livornese cuisine. If you go there you might have to wait a bit but Paolo will always find a way to have you seat. Hang in there look at painting on the walls look at the people who eat there, beside tourists there still a lot of livornese characters! Let Paolo suggest you the wine and the dish courses, mostly fish, the price will never be up scale. Don't leave the place without tasting their ponce !
