For a Street Cafe it was wonderful. The service was quick. The food was excellent. The price was reasonable. I will be back! They really deserve a 4.6 or a 4.7. The speed of service was blindingly fast! For a quick and very pleasant meal, I really suggest this little downtown Cafe. There is another near here but it is much more expensive.

This place was recommended by a friend who had previously eaten here. We arrived as a party of 6 and were promptly seated. Our server quickly came to take our drink and food orders. There were plenty of complimentary chips and salsa to enjoy while we waited for our orders. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. There were remnants of Valentine's Day decor. Our food was served promptly. Everything tasted hot and fresh. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely return again! Pro-tip: Be aware that the restaurant is divided into two separate dining areas that are literally around the corner from each other. If you are meeting people, make sure you go to the right one!

Absolutely delicious, authentic cooking. Order the beef tongue tacos. Don't think about it, just do it. Savory and delicious! And the chorizo will make you stand at attention; spicy awesomeness. Fun atmosphere. Very attentive service, even on a packed Friday night.

I really enjoyed my visit to Cantina Taco Loco. The service was great, super friendly, quick, and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I also loved the vibe of the place and the decoration is colorful and fun, which gives it a really nice and welcoming atmosphere.

Google
Overall good experience. The food is typical of what you’d expect from classic Americanized Mexican, they are very liberal with the cheese in a good way. The cocktails were great and reasonably priced with a large assortment of tequilas as well as variety of your normal liquors. The atmosphere is intimate and fun with lots of color. The staff was friendly and pretty easy to get access to. Will definitely be back when I want a good drink and a light snack.

Google
Great food!! Lilly was amazing and so kind!!! We sat outside, margaritas were wonderful!!

Google
Now it's not a five star restaurant but if you're looking very authentic birria tacos this little gem in the middle of nowhere is a place that blew my mind and expectations. 2 things I would LOVE to see an improvement on is the crispyness of the taco and a slightly thicker consummé I understand if it is made this way because the region. Just my preference. 8.6 out 10 for the tacos. 9/10 service 9/10 atmosphere feels more like a take out place then a sit down but really gives you a feel for mexico when you're in there

Google
Best in town hands down, no comparison!! The food is always delicious, never had a single bad experience of the hundred of visits. Their tacos are absolutely delicious, not to mention all their great deserts. The location is just icing on the cake! The owner is such an awesome guy too!

Yelp
Yum!!! We came in on a Saturday night. Even though they were busy, we were welcomed right away and shortly after sat. Almost immediately our party of four got two bowls of chips and delicious salsa. We ordered a bowl of their guacamole especial. Amazing! We devoured it. Our server was very friendly. We all loved our entree orders. I got the Al Pastor Quesadilla. So so so good! We learned after eating that there are two separate entrances to the restaurant- one more quiet for conversations and families. What a great idea. They have a full bar and offer seasonal spirits. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
The Taco Loco Authentic Mexican food in the heart of downtown Asheboro. We visited The Taco Loco recently and sampled several of their dishes. The vegetarian-style burrito with cheese sauce on top was superb! Chicken tacos with grilled onions - they have some of the best Tacos in the Triad! You can get them vegetarian style too. Chips and the creamiest guacamole. Yum. Churros filled with caramel and topped with ice cream! I want to go back there just thinking about it! Good iced tea. The staff outdid themselves in service! Indoor and outdoor seating in this quaint and vibrant establishment! This is a popular place with the locals and it will be with you too once you taste their delicious food!

Sandy B.

Yelp
Decent prices. Really good tall beer prices and selections! Typical authentic Mexican food but nothing overwhelming.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Taco loco never misses! Whether you're grabbing nachos to go for lunch or hitting the cantina for a night out, the drinks and food always hit the spot. They have the best fun cocktails! For some reason, I always expect the service to be subpar since it gets busy and loud but they exceed expectations every time. This spot is a huge asset to asheboro!

Yelp
I have to be impressed to leave a 5 star review and the fact that my husband was also impressed, commenting that The Taco Loco food and service puts our favorite Mexican restaurant to shame...well this is a hidden gem!! The ambiance with hispanic music and the decor made us feel like we were on an adventure across the boarder. Yessy was our tour guide through the menu and experience serving food and beverages as well as advice with a warm smile and wonderful attitude. The salsa tasted like it had roasted tomatoes and the Guacamole Especial was perfectly flavored. The chips weee delivered to us warm and crisp. We split the ACP Loco and a Mahi Mahi Taco. I wish I would have gotten my own! Hard to share food this good but then again you have to share food this good!! The tortillas served with the ACP were hands down the best we've had. We are looking forward to another trip where we can check out the ambiance in the cantina. My husband usually does not get dessert but he decided to try the Pastel tres leches. Thoroughly yummy!

Yelp
Stopped thru on the way to our beach vacation. Friday night, so a bit of a wait, but the manager (we think) was very accomodating and even let us drink a pitcher of margaritas outside on the tables while we waited. The salsa was sooo good (complimentary w chips) as was the queso w chorizo. I had the chicken fajitas and there was sooo much chicken! Honestly wished for more veggies, but it was hot and delicious! Husband ordered three tacos (Mahi Mahi, ribeye and chicken). The ribeye was his favorite. Service and food was fantastic! It's a small restaurant, but great food!

Yelp
Great tacos and guac! My favorite was the lengua taco. Very tender and seasoned well. They have some outdoor patio seating too, which was lovely on summer nights.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Not the greatest food or drink I've had but the staff were inviting and friendly. Seems like whether you have a burrito or the rice bowl with beef, chicken, and shrimp - it's the same ingredients just presented differently. The house margaritas are about $7. Salsa and chips to munch on. Clean establishment.

Nancy M.

Yelp
I'm from Mexico and this is the best place to eat tacos, all the flavors are delicious and it feels like you're really in a stall on a street in Mexico.

Brittany A.

Yelp
The tacos I got were delicious but had to wait a long time for someone to take our order but once they did the food came out fast.

Tonya C.

Yelp
I'm so glad I found this spot for lunch while in Asheboro! It's the best Mexican food I've had since experiencing Mexican food in Texas. It's quite small, but they get things done! It's gets extremely busy at lunch. There are 3 two-seater tables on the sidewalk. Our party of 3 has to wait about 10min a a table. If you have more than 4 people it would be quite a wait. There's only about 6 tables large enough for 4. The rest are for 2. The "guacamole especial" is like table-side guacamole. It's chunky and delicious!! The chips are light, fresh, and crispy; just need a little salt. Their homemade corn tortillas are light and soft. DELICIOUS!! (And I'm not one who normally eats corn tortilla tacos) The shrimp are plump and the chicken....wow! The chicken is already cut into smaller bite-sized pieces & seasoned perfectly. I will be driving 25 minutes to eat here again soon!!

Carly S.

Yelp
Very good food, service, and atmosphere. The chips and salsa in the beginning are yummy and the tacos were full of flavor, but the rice and beans were a bit lacking.

Zaneta B.

Yelp
This little gem packs a punch. Service is great with the owners personally stopping by to serve you and check on you. Drinks were tasty and made with lots of love by the owner. The aguachiles were phenomenal!!!! Spicy so if you don't like heat watch out. Overall, a fun place to visit.

Chela J.

Yelp
The food is great. The two different sides give you a little of both worlds. Nice date night in the restaurant side, convenient pull-up to- go window, and the bar side gives you hangout, boys/ girls' night out vibes. This is my go-to spot whenever I'm back in the area.

Rizik H.

Yelp
The food was underwhelming simply because the beef is not of good quality and you can barely taste it. Service was eh they are almost lazy and laidback. They have indoor seating but only a few tables and it's very tight. Most of their seating is outside which is fine on a cool day but awful on a cold or hot day. It's better to take out then.

Raquel L.

Yelp
This place had my taste buds exploding! Our bar tender was so nice and our waitress had great recommendations. They even chased us down the street because we forgot our card after we paid. The food was so good and so authentic! We loved this place.

Jeff R.

Yelp
Great find! Easy access and super location. Ordered for carry out, order ready when I arrived and check was simple with a pickup window on street side. Street tacos were delicious - Al pastor pork, carne asada and shrimp were excellent.

Gael L.

Yelp
This food the best of my life holy cow Good service Clean tables Delicious food I recommend this place 5 stars

Yelp
I had an opportunity to dine at this restaurant over the weekend with a date. She had recommended it, and had been there previously. Although the place had kind of a "hole in the wall" feel to it, I have to say, it was quite a nice surprise! Although the main dining room was a little claustrophobic for my taste (tables were a little bit too close together), we moved a few doors down to their Cantina, where it seemed to be a little more of a casual setting and open. We ordered cocktails to start and they were quite good. I also ordered the shrimp cocktail thinking that it was an appetizer when it was actually huge and big enough to have as an entrée. My date ordered their cevicheWhich they make to order, and just be forewarned, it's about 25 minutes to make it, and every single bite was as fresh as could be! The service is quite good as well, and a very nice atmosphere with moderate levels of noise and a nice combination of couples and families, and was quite a good dining experience for a "hole in the wall" Would highly recommend!

Jeff N.

Yelp
Fun place, great music. Margaritas awesome, food is good. Love their tacos! We always enjoy

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Guacamole was awesome! They even have great churros and flan!

Erica W.

Yelp
I went to Cantina Taco Loco at the end of June and enjoyed the food and service. The prices were reasonable at $3 to $4 per taco depending on the meat. I left with an overall positive experience. My bill was $10 plus a $3ish tip. They charged me $33.70. Hey, no big deal, right? It happens and can be fixed. I sent them no fewer than four emails through their website and one message to this page. I *only* wanted a refund for the $20 they overcharged. That's it! I did not want a full refund until recently because I felt this was an honest mistake in an otherwise nice dining experience. However, after the fourth or fifth message (I have lost count now) *and* the phone call asking for a manager last week which was never returned, I wanted a full refund which I still have not received. I used to own a small business, and I really, really, really hate to leave a negative review if I can help it because I know hard it is. However, the utter lack of communication despite my numerous follow-ups is a problem. If you do chance this restaurant, save your receipt and watch the charges on your card carefully. I know I wish I caught it sooner.

Yelp
Been here quiet a few times! Food and service has always been good. We usually come with friends who are well known as regulars there. Tonight we came with out them and did not get the total treatment. In observing the two server people working very hard, one was amazing at checking in on all her customers, the other not so much. We got the other server. No checking on us, no refill of empty glasses, nothing! While the food was good, that service goes a long way. I hate to give this place anything but a 5 stars, but next time we go back we won't be sitting in the "other" server area.

Jasmine P.

Yelp
There's not may "nice" places around asheboro so we usually head to Archdale/high point area well we happened to find this GEM of a restaurant tonight and had the BEST experience! This place has the best atmosphere the nicest servers & is just overall great. Salsa was so fresh tasting! Tacos were out of this world and ACP was delicious!! 10/10 recommend this place! ALMOST FORGOT - I am a mango margarita LOVER I literally drink one anytime a restaurant offers them! & this is by far the BEST one I have ever had !

Yelp
For our anniversary this year we went to Taco Loco and it was a great experience! It is a smallish restaurant in old downtown Asheboro with a few deuce tables on the sidewalk outside. The front windows roll up like garage doors to let in fresh air, too, which creates a nice big-city ambiance. We really liked it. We parked in the city parking-lot across the street and it was just a very short walk. The large menu on the wall was easy to read, and the servers were all friendly and helpful. I love fish tacos, so I ordered that, and they were perhaps the best fish tacos I have ever had in my life, with a mysterious but very delicious pink dipping sauce. There were plenty of fresh veggies on the plate as garnishes, and I ate them all! From now on, I will probably order the same thing every time we go. I should mention the salsa that came with the chips. It had an unusual flavor, not bland and ordinary. I loved it and we ate it all! That alone is worth going back for. Thank you, Taco Loco, for a great anniversary dinner!

Josh T.

Yelp
Could honestly use a visit from Jon Taffer! Him and his experts could show them a thing or two about proper customer service and maybe even help spice their food up a bit too! Accusing your customers of lying about an order you all messed up is not cool. Learn to take some accountability for your mistakes and just correct it.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I ordered food online with them and my husband went to pick up and items were missing. When we called they told us we should of checked our bag and that they are busy so I drove up there gave my receipt and that was not good enough as I was talking to both of the owners a young server came up to me and asked if I brought the food that I did receive back and I told her no and she asked if I could go get it. I live about 13 minutes away and I told her that was absolutely ridiculous for me to go get the food and that I shouldn't be getting this much pushback for a mistake that y'all made when I brought a receipt and everything and we just got this order about 15 minutes ago we always go here to eat inside and the food is always spectacular and the service is always great in the morning, but I will never be ordering out ever again. This was such a bad experience and it really could've all just been handled a different way and the outcome would've been better. I felt like I was being blamed for something that the restaurant forgot to put in my bag they actually ended up making my husband pull up the order on his phone because they didn't believe that we got it from them even though we had a receipt, I hope that next time that they handle a situation like this better instead of blaming one of their customers

Yelp
Amazing!! Authentic Mexican cuisine. Homemade tortillas. Fresh ingredients. Large portions. Quick and extremely friendly service. Fantastic ambiance. Located in downtown Asheboro. Nice beer selections with draft beer coming soon. I highly highly recommend The Taco Loco. P.S they have outdoor seating as well.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Food was amazing! This place is a hidden gem! The food was truly authentic. Tired 3 different tacos, chicken, shrimp, and steak.

Louise H.

Yelp
We found Taco Loco looking for lunch after leaving the NC Zoo. We were very pleased with it. It's on a vibrant and fun revitalized main street in old town Asheboro and the restaurant was clean, modern, and pleasant. The service was top-notch, and the menu and food very good and fresh. The corn tortillas are made in-house, and are tender and tasty. I got the spicy pork tacos. Very good. I'd go back if if I'm ever in the area again.

Jessica W.

Yelp
YUUUUUUUM! ¡Me gusta! :) The Hawaiian and shrimp tacos were awesome! The steak taco and the mahi mahi taco were good, as well as the kids' quesadilla. The chips and salsa are great! The service was friendly and a good pace! The decor is cool, with graffiti art on the walls, in the cantina. The ambiance on the other side is nice, would be a lovely spot when we weren't in a hurry.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Stopped after a full day at the North Carolina Zoo. Small space but was very easy to get a table even though they were busy. Saw it more as a get in, eat, and get out kind of place. Started right off the bat with a Paloma and it was delicious! Was hoping for a little bit more grapefruit soda, but the amount of tequila made up for it! Our group downed chips, guac, queso, and salsa. All great! I kept it simple and order the 2 taco combo. Came with rice and beans. Fiance' had a quesadilla and the cheese was crazy! He said it was delicious so there was no need for alarm by the amount of cheese. Tacos were pretty small, but very flavorful. So hungry didn't even get a pic. Cleaned my plate and very quickly saw Tres Leches on the menu. Only thing I would change is the size of the slice! Overall good experience. Our server was nice and efficient. Would return!

Sandra T.

Yelp
Walking around downtown Asheboro, we stopped at Taco Loco, but instead of loco this place has the most delicious tacos in town, fresh, tasty and well prepared. Jocelyn was awesome and gave us great recommendations and the perfect details about all the different choices on the menu, for sure we are coming back for more... great place and nice atmosphere with friendly staff!

Fletcher R.

Yelp
I'm from south Texas where I've experienced really great and authentic Mexican food and I have had a lot of Mexican food in rural North Carolina that is just a few notches above Taco Bell. But I was super impressed with the food at Taco Loco. It's just simple and flavorful. I wish I lived closer so I could try more menu items. We got the choriqueso, chicken fajita, shrimp cocktail and flan. We devoured it all. The only complaint I had was I thought the beans lacked flavor, but that was a small critique. The service was also super friendly and the ambience was perfect.

Jessica P.

Yelp
So good! My son and I stopped in for dinner and ordered tacos - he got the al pastor and I went with chicken and mahi. All were very flavorful and perfect portions! Chips and salsa came out right away and were perfection. We also ordered guacamole, which was a huge and tasty portion, as well as the bean dip. We left happy and full!

Amanda D.

Yelp
The food was so good, the only thing is when you order the ceviche it takes a half hour. Other then that the drinks were so tasty and fresh. The atmosphere inside was very welcoming and not too loud or overcrowded.

Aida H.

Yelp
Service is good, friendly and fast. Food is not good at all, it's average at best. Is another Tex-mex, Mexican- American or else mix. It's missing some authenticity and true flavors. I can hear the employees working there are authentic Hispanics but the food has been adapted to local culture, preferences or taste. The place is pretty and cute but a bit tiny and crammed.

Jill F.

Yelp
I was disappointed because I really wanted to try this place. Their posted hours online didn't coincide with their actual hours. We showed up, the front door was propped opened a bit but someone yelled that they were closed.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Best tacos in town! Fast and friendly service. Relaxed atmosphere. Very small. Parking is an issue.

Brenda M.

Yelp
Supporting local businesses is so important, especially during the pandemic! Coming to eat at Taco Loco is a MUST whenever we are in the Asheboro area! Amazing food, excellent customer service, great prices, and a very nice ambiance! We hope this family restaurant keeps succeeding! Support small businesses

Lisa A.

Yelp
We found this cute little place downtown on Friday night. Great food, casual, with lots of character! They were cooking the pollo asado outside on a huge grill with a mariachi band playing! Awesome food and great experience! Chorizo Queso, was my first but great addition! It added a little spice. I'd recommend it, if you're in the area! It's a definite place to stop in.

Isabel G.

Yelp
It is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in town. Their seasoning is the best. Good job guys!

Erin E.

Yelp
We just came here for drinks, but really liked the atmosphere and vibe of this place! The bartender was excellent.

Sara Z.

Yelp
Awesome stop on our way back from Seagrove. Service, atmosphere, menu, taste just can't be beat. We ordered tacos (all delicious and none were better than the others), quesadillas (nice amount of cheese and meat) and some chorizo queso dip (yum to the yum). This will definitely be a regular stop when we are in the area.

Rob A.

Yelp
My mom and I here there today. Liked the ambiance. Staff were friendly. Took a few minutes for our drink order. The salsa seemed to have an undesirable oregano/ black pepper flavor and could use more cilantro. I ordered 3 tacos (1 chicken, 2 steak) and mom had a chicken burrito. We both agreed the chicken was dry and lacked seasoning. By contrast, I found the steak was good. It had some carmelization and good flavor. The tortillas were fresh as were the other toppings (cheese, radish, raw and sauteed onions)

Aizlyn P.

Yelp
Visited the Cantina Taco Loco, bar version of the restaurant just around the corner. Great atmosphere, the original margarita was very good, not too sweet, perfectly made. The guacamole especial and the fajita trio were some of the best I've had, definitely recommend

Cheryl C.

Yelp
This place is literally a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant and it is absolutely amazing! We started with the salsa and guacamole cream for the chips! The salsa and guacamole were delicious and the ingredients were so very fresh! Tacos are $2.00 each and they have quite the variety.......even ha beef tongue taco that was amazing! I ordered the special Shrimp Ceviche and it was so very good. I cannot say enough about the freshness of the ingredients! The dish took 25-30 minutes but was well worth the wait! The servers were friendly and attentive! The owner came out to the tables to make sure everything was okay! Really nice place in downtown Asheboro! If you get a chance, check it out.....you won't want to miss this great place!

Luis S.

Yelp
This place is still the elite spot in Asheboro for tacos. Whether it is a togo order or dining in, you're in for delicious and authentic Mexican tacos/food! Definitely a 5/5.
