If You Are Traveling to Rome, Here Are the 9 Wineries You Have to Visit

"One of the pioneering producers in Torgiano and the broader Umbrian scene, this family-driven estate helped create regional wine tourism by opening its cellar to visitors and founding the MUVIT wine museum. With a long-standing focus on Sangiovese, the estate’s benchmark Rubesco red remains its flagship and a leading wine of the Torgiano DOC and the Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG. The cellar tour—featuring a vault of old vintages—is a highlight, and the property’s cultural investments include a museum dedicated to olive oil (MOO), a luxury resort and farmhouses that expand its hospitality offerings. A notably fresh Torgiano Chardonnay (Aurente) demonstrates the winery’s ability to produce high-quality whites alongside its celebrated reds." - Federico De Cesare Viola

Nice place for lunch. The risotto is a big over cooked, the only plate we didn’t like so much, but our dog loves it! Liver pasta is great; antipasto mixture plate is great, with local cheese ham and salami. A very kid dog friendly place.

Had an amazing tour with Matilda she has only been here for a few weeks but was an amazing tour guide. The wines were also very well explained by her and the other workers there. We all enjoyed the winery very much!

A sensational tour and tasting with Giulia. She shared a lot of interesting details regarding the wine making practices at Lungarotti and spoke eloquently about the exceptional wines we drank. Thank you for a great experience!

Very nice winery that produces their wine in a good way with respect for nature and their surroundings. They have a very good collection of wines with some Great variety. We had a nice tour through the winery with a very hospitable guide in good English. Afterwards a wonderful wine tasting with some of the real good classics of this place. You can really see and feel the passion for wine making in this place. You can also stay here for lunch and the meal is very good. Altogether very much worth a visit.

Outstanding winery. Delicious wines, especially the Rubeso Riserva. Special thanks to our host Francesco. And the tour guide Giulia was fantastic. Can't wait for a return visit. Highly recommended!

I ordered their package for San Valentine for 35 € (I also thought, that in times of the pandemic we should help winegrowers and bars so the excessive price for 2 glasses and one bottle of sparkling rosé was fine by me.) While I saw no sign of damage on the outside of the package, after I opened it, I saw that one of the glasses was completely shattered. Probably the service they used hit it or kept it under some other heavy weight, no idea. I informed The Cantine (sent them two distinct photographs of the glass still in its packaging). They said they were sorry and that's about it. They have not offered any help or substitution, or at least a voucher for future orders. Nothing. Well, I am just as well sorry as they are, but there will be no future orders from me, that's about for sure. I even will change the band I buy from Umbria.

A welcoming and impressive place, and a broad selection of wines to choose from, all of excellent quality and no unnecessary pretence, thoroughly recommended.
