We dreamed of dining at Chef José Avillez’s Belcanto, Lisbon’s top restaurant, which was closed. We settled for his simple bistro Cantinho do Avillez instead. The bright dining room was lovely, the food was fairly good, especially the shrimp with garlic. The house specialty, fried green beans weren’t all that.

Great experience. Friendly team, discreet yet careful. Elegant and tasty dishes. High level of pleasure, l'd say. Had cold marinated meagre with lemon and mint / hot moqueca do gambas with cashew nuts / honey pudding with raspberry sorbet. Perfect moment.

Google
My all-time favorite restaurant in Lisbon! The price/quality is SO good, both with the food and professional and kind staff. Prepare to be blown away by all the flavors. Please, try the tuna tartare.

Google
It is a small bistro type restaurant. Food is casual. It is better to use it as a dinner with friends than an anniversary or date.

First time here but certainly not the last!! 5 star experience from the staff to the food. We as a group of 4 ordered 9 dishes and shared all, each one of us adored the food. I can confidently say each dish was distinct in its own flavors and one was as delicious as the other. Not to mention how accommodating, observant and friendly the staff are! Will be coming again.

Google
Great food, we loved everything we tried. Especially the truffle croquette and the alheira! Waiters were supernice too, Sangria is very good! A bit too many people stuffed in such a small room where we were but it didnt change on the experience.

Delicious food here. We love every dish we ordered. The shrimp appetizer sauce was super delicious best eaten with bread.

Google
From appetizers to main dishes, they all tasted so good. We're a group of 4 adults and 4 kids and everyone had a great meal. I strongly recommend this place when you're in Lisbon and your budget allows. We're from Toronto and I can tell you that this place is way more reasonable that their peers in our hometown.

Google
We had reservations for two and were very pleased. The service was very attentive and available. Had the beef carpaccio which was delicious, shared croquettes, mushroom risotto with scallops- yummy, and the flaked cod which was not my favorite. Very casual interior and it's a bit off the beaten path but worth making a reservation!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing place. The food here is incredible. I went with a friend and we split wine, appetizers, and each got an entrée, and then split a dessert. We were full to say the least. The indulgence was worth it! This is classic Portuguese food with an upscale twist. I would definitely come back here. The restaurant is very clean and modern. The service was great. No complaints! I loved it and recommend to anyone in Lisbon!

Yelp
Great food and great service. We had the beef croquettes as appetizers and Mashroom risotto and cod fish for main course which are pretty nice.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for dinner on our first night in Lisbon. It was a short walk from our hotel. We got to the restaurant and checked in. They have two dining rooms. We were brought to the secondary dining room which has its own door. It was cozy and intimate inside. We started with bread service and a bottle of wine. For my entree, I had the codfish which was so good. The serving size was perfect. My husband ordered the pork chop. He really enjoyed his meal. Sadly, we were too full for dessert. The service was good. We really enjoyed our meals and definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal at Cantinho do Avillez during our trip to Lisbon. We made reservations on their website a few days in advance and only 10pm or later was available but that was fine with us, restaurants are still hopping at that hour. The interior of the restaurant is not particularly fancy but the focus is on the food. We had a few dishes but the standout was the Cantinho Steak, which was one of the best we've had, including at steakhouses. The meat was simple yet tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection at our requested medium rare temperature. The waiter said they go through a long multi-step process to prep the meat before cooking, so it's not like they just threw it on the grill. Service was fine, no problems there. We would return just for the steak!

Yelp
We made reservations weeks in advance for dinner service. We were greeted immediately and given menus to peruse. We ordered a couple appetizers and shared an entree. The bread service was good, there are a few different types of bread and also included a truffle butter, some type of bell pepper-tasting orange sauce, and pickled olives. Both the breads and condiments were good and I ate more pieces than I intended! We ordered deep fried green beans and truffle mustard beef croquettes for apprtizers. These were both good, but not amazing. I wish the batter was a little lighter for the green beans (I was expecting something more like tempura). And the croquettes were tasty, but not something i would seek out. The truffle mustard was delicious. The star of our dinner was the Cantinho Steak. We told our waiter we were going to split the steak and have side salads for each of us and they brought the steak to the table already split. We asked for medium and we got medium. The sauce was delicious and I enjoyed the dry-aged ham on top. The chips were also very good, thin but not too thin and crispy on the outside and a little pillowy on the inside. The side salads were the standard greens with cherry tomatoes and red onion, but I really liked the vinaigrette they used and it was a perfect accompany to the steak and chips. Overall, a great cozy dinner spot a little away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. We were able to walk here from our hotel and sightsee along the way.

Yelp
A my axing food, great service, spot on wine and food recommendations. Already booked another of the chefs restaurants.

Yelp
We made a reservation in advance and came in when the restaurant just opened. We were the only guests for a little while. Shortly after the restaurant started getting full. This was a great way to be introduced to some Portuguese flavors since the chef also incorporated some intenational flavors. Celebrity chef Avillez has many restaurants (some overseas). The flavors were on point. My pork dish was a little on the drier side but still very tasty. I highly recommend this spot for a lunch.

Yelp
Serviço lentíssimo, comida horrorosa, difícil de achar o bacalhau no nosso prato. Risotto ai funghi completamente sem graça. Fujam

Yelp
The food was fine, not fabulous. And they put two of us at a small table next to the door in a room with about 50 graduate students who were celebrating. The noise was unbelievable. We asked to move to the other quiet space next door but they wouldn't move us. I wish they had let me know in advance that we'd be sitting with a large group. I would have gone another day. Now, I'll never return.

Yelp
They were booked out for weeks for dinner reservations, so we grabbed a lunch slot. If you're looking to walk in without a reservation, I would recommend early afternoon, around 12-1. Restaurant was rather empty (it was a Monday though, so it may be different on the weekend). Ambience is great and there's a little kitchen as part of the restaurant which is cute. Service was not bad. The only small thing was us waiting a while to get our check after we were done eating, but by that time the restaurant was full and staff was a lot busier. Now for the best part, the food. Everything was amazing. You can't go wrong with trying anything. I *highly* recommend the oxtail rice. It tasted delicious and had more meat than I expected based off of the description. For drinks I had an aperol spritz which was excellent. Dinner for 3 came out to 85 Euros which was great, and they took Amex Would definitely come again when I'm in town.

Yelp
My brother was excited to try this restaurant. Heard the food was great. Service - 4/5 a bit busy the time we arrived but we got seated quickly at the bar. Didn't take long for the drinks and food to come after. Food - 2.5/5 The quality of the meat and seafood is there but there was a few things on each starters and main dish that let us down. Tuna Tar Tar - After a few bites, the asian flavored marinate coated my pallet. It became difficult to finish with each bite. Marinated Scallop - 1 scallop sliced into 5 pieces for $10.55 but the plating was beautiful Pork, Fried Potatoes and Black Beans - The seasoning on the pork was burnt. The meat was a tad dry for my liking. Fries were over cooked. Beans were beans. Scallop Risotto - Scallop was on point. Great sear. The risotto was a different story. The rice was cooked a few minutes over and was too liquidity.

Yelp
Maybe it's because we just came down from Porto where we had some truly amazing food for less euros, but we weren't overly impressed. Our waitress was lovely and the service was good, but the food, especially for the price, was uninspiring and less than so-so. The fried green beans were way too heavily breaded and boring. My wife had the cod (and we love Portuguese cod) but this was a small portion and sort of bland with way more bread than cod. The steak tartare was OK, but the fries that accompanied it were McDonalds grade and not very hot. My wife's chocolate cake with sorbet was very good. My crème brûlée was runny and lacked texture, although the flavor was good. For the money ($120 euros for two - granted , we had a cocktail, a beer and two glasses of wine), I would not repeat it or try any other of this "celebrated chef's" restaurants. For our first night in Lisbon, a complete letdown.

Yelp
Yesss another one of the better finds in Lisbon! Food was soo good here! It may have taken us awhile to order, but it didn't ruin my impression of the place. Luckily our group of four got to try a lot of dishes and shared a lot of appetizers. We cleaned everything!

Yelp
I was so excited to dine at a Jose Avillez restaurant while in Lisbon. While it was hard to choose one, I'm thrilled I chose Cantinho do Avillez. I loved everything about my experience. Perhaps a bit more casual than the other options, Cantinho do Avillez is charming, welcoming, and pretty. And the service is exquisite. I made a reservation, even though I was solo, and I would say that is a must. During Friday lunch, the restaurant fills up fast. My meal consisted of bread, moqueca, and the hazelnut dessert. I sadly did not have a drink because my liver needed a break. Per usual in Lisbon, the bread, butter, oil, and olives are the perfect start to the meal. The entree decision was tough, but I loved my choice of the meagre and shrimp moqueca. The portion is great and the seafood is plentiful. The stew is rich and delicious and the tomato flavor really shines through. And of course, I had to go with the famous hazelnut dessert to finish. While not as Instagrammable as I had hoped, it was just as delicious as I had hoped. Everything at Cantinho do Avillez is excellent and it is one my favorite meals I've had. The entire menu sounds amazing and I'd love nothing more than to return and find out for myself.

Yelp
An incredible accidental find in a beautiful, peaceful and uncrowded seaside town. Had excellent shrimp tacos, rosé and French fries. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience. Feeling sick after meal from marinated scallops. Wait staff kind however. Do not recommend for food.

Yelp
We've been to Cantinho do Avillez several times now. Each time, we've brought our team of 10+ people to enjoy the fantastic food and atmosphere. We are a Jose Avillez fan, especially of his namesake wine. But unfortunately, one of the wait stuff was incredibly, inappropriately rude all night long, to the extent that they severely damaged the personal, gold standard reference point of the owner, Avillez. I would recommend the restaurant, but cannot in good conscious neither return to the restaurant nor evangelize and praise the restaurant. It's extremely unfortunate because we love the food.

M D.

Yelp
Make no mistake the food is very good. Service is lacking. The waiter who took our order never came back to the table. We had two other servers, one of whom was attentive. To top it off: The automatic tip they add to your bill is really too much. You can decline but who wants to be that patron? This is the only place in Portugal in 2 weeks of traveling where this happened (aside from the one time someone reminded us the tip was "not included").

Yelp
My best meal in Lisbon. Go early or make a reservation. They were still very busy and still seating at 10pm. The tuna tartare was so fresh and delicious, I could have licked the plate. The "giant shrimp" looked more like prawns, but they were so incredibly tender and sweet. With a side of rice and slightly Asian- style sauce, this meal was so amazing. Really cozy and dimly lit interior as well with a lovely bar area. Excellent service as well by all staff.
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Our meal was delicious here! I was excited to try one of chef Avillez's restaurants. It was a modern twist of Portuguese food. The service was the only area that could have been better, overall though I'd recommend going but definitely make a reservation, as the dining space filled up quickly while we were there!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cute spot away from the crowd, also suggest making a reservation (very easy online) the complimentary bread A+++ string bean fries salty but super good and the shrimp kimchee was super tasty. My boyfriend and I both had the risotto which was a little underdone, also it is a lot of risotto lol friendly staff and very attentive

Yelp
Love this place, have been coming here every single time I visit Lisbon. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is just delicious! Whatever you decide to try, you can be assured that you are not going to be dissapointed!

Yelp
After we struck out on getting a resy at belcanto, tried walking in super early with hopes to grab a table and was able to do so at 6pm on a Sunday... Place was cute although pretty empty when we were there (probably due to the early bird timing) but I can imagine it being cozy once it fills up Service was great, host also took our order and was pleasant and helpful Food was fantastic, we got: - Bread service - yummy basket of many types of goodies, served with truffle butter (yes please) and a creamy yet fresh tasting tomato sauce - fish soup - great presentation poured table side, lots of fish and great flavor - tuna tartare- interesting Asian flavors that came with some kind of mayo sauce on the side. Also had 3 toast points but needed more, luckily the bread basket came in handy... This was good but not the stand out for the night - bacalau - flaky fish, hearty preparation with exploding olives (little olive shaped pockets filled with a smooth olive sauce), tasty - red giant shrimp- exactly what the name says, 2 giant shrimp in a great coconut red sauce- well seasoned and fragrant - scallops - well cooked and seasoned, on individual discs of some kind of root vegetable that was quite yummy as well Overall great experience, would totally recommend for a special night out

Yelp
Great food & atmosphere. Mediocre service. Ate dinner here on a Friday night around 9 pm. The restaurant was full, which is a good sign, people were crammed into the small waiting area between the door and the restaurant/bar area. After less than a 5 min wait, we were seated. Once seated, the space was quite intimate and cozy - the seating area is actually broken up into two completely different spaces so it seems much smaller than it is. As for the food- pretty darn good. We shared 2 appetizers and 3 entrees amongst the 3 of us. My favorites were the sausage cornbread and the cod with exploding olives both of which had elements that were unlike anything I've had before. I would have given 5 stars based on the quality and creativity of the food, but the service was mediocre at best. The staff was was inattentive and hardly checked on our table more than 2 times over the 2 and a half hours we were there. I watched other tables sit down after us and get served before us - we ended up waiting over an hour and a half to be served. All in all, I would recommend if you find yourself in Lisbon.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're giving this place less than 5 stars you must be out of your mind. EXCELLENT place, the food is superb!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was phenomenal! I couldn't believe how amazing it was ... we have tuna tartare and the meat pies! Wow and the wines are all under 5 euors! Holy cow! I ordered the amazing lamb tangine and my husband got he pork!! For dessert we have the chocolate cake and hazelnut ... I preferred the cake over the hazelnut :)

Cyndy K.

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Chef Avillez delivers delicious well executed dishes! This is what we ate/drank: *Portuguese sparkling *Aperol spritz - refreshing summer drink *Gazpacho with Fundao cherries, cottage cheese, dryed cured ham and basil. So flavorful. The cherries from Fundao adds a wonderful sweetness. *Fish soup - fish from the shores of Portugal, tomato, bell peppers, cilantro, garlic and saffron mayonnaise. Flavorful & hearty. *Partridge pies - stewed pies with a partridge, bacon and chive filling. Tasty goodness. The partridge filling is nicely shredded and delicious. *Tuna tartare with Asian flavours Fresh high quality tuna. *Pork from the Alentejo (neck fillet) French fries and black beans. So very tender, moist and seasoned well. Friendly service.

Yelp
Great service. Delicious food. Easygoing ambience. Fair prices and a nice intimate setting with probably only 15-18 tables. 10/10 would recommend!

Every element well thought out... service to ambiance to menu... sheer perfection... i vidit everytime i'm in portugal and it has yet to disappoint

Yelp
Suggested Restaurant by hotel staff. Great atmosphere small quaint. Food was spectacular. Device was quick and not hurried despite being a busy restaurant. Food was delicious and unique twist on some traditional Portuguese dishes. Had the pork for my main course with beans was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Recommend local wines. Had the 2016 Lagoalva Reserva as it was the recommended pairing and was great. For dessert Raspberry cheese cake with ice cream and basil leaves was light and fantastic. Overall great experience and would highly suggest it.

Mar R.

Yelp
Delicious! Love everything except the cheese. The risotto and scallops were amazing though only 3 scallops (mostly a huge plate of risotto). Streak was great. Would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend
google avatar

Nik K.

Yelp
One of Chef José Avillez's restaurants, this is more upscale from his Barrio do Avillez but not as posh as the world famous Belcanto. The atomosphere here is trendy, but not overly so. Its unique blend of an upscale hipster restaurant in NYC and Portuguese local flavors are definitely one to experience. I started with the "Juanito" which is a whiskey sour with pineapple and it was quite delicious -- just enough pineapple to change the flavor of the drink. I paired that with the partridge pies and the scallops with avocado cream. It was delicious to say the least. For the main, I had the recommendation of the staff -- the cod with bread crumbs, LT Egg and Exploding olives -- a dish that is one of José Avillez's specialties and a more homestyle version of the one served at Belcanto. I highly recommend for a nice dinner to have on one's last night in Lisbon.

Yelp
Come here if you're ready to spend a lot and not get the value in return. I ordered the meatballs in curry and was brought out the vegetarian variation of this dish. When I told the waitress, she was semi-rude about the whole thing, and acted as if it were my fault. When they brought out the correct thing, the dish had three meatballs, which didn't come close to filling me up. My girlfriend got the scallops main dish which she really enjoyed, and we started with the eggs cooked in low heat with chorizo and bread crumble. To conclude, we had the "chocolate cake" which was basically like a chocolate souffle. I think had it not been for the service, I would have liked this place more, but relatively speaking, you can spend the same money for I think better food elsewhere.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
My friend and I came here around 9pm on a Friday and felt our experience and satisfaction were all over the place. We had a nice meal but wouldn't prioritize a visit if we were doing our trip over again. We agreed we think it is: Service: 2/5 Cocktails: 4/5 Bread service: 5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Dessert: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 To focus on the positives both of us had great cocktails. I had the cocktail with passion fruit which was excellent. The truffle butter and tomato spread with the bread service were divine. The hazelnut dessert was quite good. Everything else was mediocre.

Yelp
Cantinho do Avillez (Avillez Little Corner) is one of Chef Jose Avillez's restaurants. It is a warm and cozy space, with friendly service and simpler food offerings compared to other Avillez restaurants. I started with "Queijo de Nisa No Forno" (Oven-Roasted Nisa Cheese), cheese from the Nisa region slightly oven-roasted with dry cured ham and rosemary honey; it was a lovely creamy cheese, its flavor enhanced by the rosemary honey, perfect to be enjoyed with bread or toast. My main course was "Prego MX-LX" (MX-LX Mexico-Lisbon Steak Sandwich), described in the menu as beef sirloin strips, homemade tortillas, guacamole, chilies, red onion and cilantro; it turned out to be Tex-Mex beef fajitas, which is not what I was expecting; other than the disappointment of having ordered Tex-Mex fajitas instead of a Portuguese dish, it tasted fine. I finished the meal with "Avelã" (Hazelnut), described as "a life-changing dessert: hazelnut ice-cream, hazelnut foam, freshly grated hazelnut and fleur de sel, served in layers in a glass"; it was a tasty dessert, the flavors reminding me of a Ferrero Rocher. I'm still waiting for my life to change. Reservations recommended.
google avatar

Jan R.

Yelp
Well, this is a "bistro" restaurant owned by a famous Portuguese chef. Supposed to be great. Our experience was not. We waited about 20 minutes to even order drinks. Another 20 or 30 for the appetizers to arrive and finally well over an hour from arrival for the main course. On the plus side, the apps and dessert were excellent. However the main courses were indifferent at best. Vegetables and orange couscous was ok. Scallops were tasteless, possibly even from frozen, and the overall effect was bland. Also we were seated in a corner where the lighting was particularly harsh. Just as an aside my companion informed me there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. I don't know what's going on here but neither the service not the kitchen are performing the way a great restaurant, or bistro, should be. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Helena L.

Yelp
The scallops starter was super delicate and lightly refreshing with the avocado mousse - definitely the favorite. We also got the homemade preserved tuna - this was okay and a bit on the salty and gamey side. We both got the cod with exploding olives! So yummy. Also saw the table next to us get the fried scallops which looked delicious. Finished with the hazelnut.

Yelp
We'd been hoping to try one of the alvillez places while in Lisbon and picked this place over minibar. We had an 8pm reservation on a Thursday and were seated promptly. The tables against the wall seemed a little close together, as we felt like uninvited guests in the conversation at the table on either side of us. The service was okay. We were presented with menus but weren't the only table to have to ask for the cocktail menu- at a place seemingly well known (at least online) for elaborate cocktails. The bread service had us off to a great start. Three different breads were served in the basket, along with a truffle butter, a tomato saffron cream, and olives. The cocktails were both outstanding- well composed with cool presentation and garnishes. We ordered the tuna tartare and tempura green beans as appetizers. The tuna tartare was beautifully plated and delicious. The green beans were good as well, served with a tartar sauce. For mains, I had the pork and M had two appetizers- a beet ceviche and scallop carpaccio. I thought the pork was delicious but disjointed. It was served on the plate with nothing but breadcrumbs, with a side dish of black beans. All the components were delicious, but it seemed like a sauce was missing. Scallop and beet flavors were good but not standouts, and both portions were small even for starters with what seemed like a disproportionately heavy serving of avocado cream. For dessert we figured we needed to try the "life changing hazelnut" and it was a far cry from that. When it was served we were instructed to make sure our spoon went all the way to the bottom so we got all the components.....yada yada. There seemed to only be two components, of similar flavor and textures, but different temperatures. Calling attention to the layers only made that more obvious. Overall this place is a great meal. Definitely a good option for middle to top of the range with good food and good drinks. Our expectations were very high and the busy staff affected this review.

Yelp
Very delicious food but unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation at 7PM which is probably their first seating - out waiter proceeded to pace around the table for a good 10 min even after we mentioned we were not ready to order yet. No smile, no nothing and after rushing us to order he basically never served the table again (never filled our empty wine glasses, never brought us our dishes, never asked how our meal was going). The glass of champagne my mother ordered was basically flat from an almost empty bottle (another table next to us ordered a glass of red and the waiter poured from an almost empty bottle- needless to say they added to the glass from another bottle but whats the point of tasting if you taste the 10% old wine and the remaining 90% is from a new bottle you didnt taste...) The floor manager came by but was also inattentive - noticed our empty glasses- did not do anything. We mentioned the subpar service and he tried to give us a free dessert... that's not the point! I'm glad he tried to rectify the situation but it's really not an acceptable level of service for a €€€ restaurant. (Waiter did not apologize or anything) Anyways really unfortunate because the dishes were all good (albeit lacking creativity) but you should save your money and go to any other restaurant about the same price range in lisboa and not only enjoy good food but respectable service. It may be owned by a 2 star michelin star chef but i'd be surprised if this restaurant got even michelin bib gourmand given the level of service. Really hope they turn it around or that the chef gets a chance to shine at another restaurant of better service....

Yelp
I read the other reviews and I have to say it lived up to the hype. Took my family and we all agreed that it was our favorite meal from our visit. Simple but warm and updated setting, good service and reasonable prices to go with the outstanding food...what else do you need? My wife had the meatballs with green curry, my kids had the burger and pork, and I had the steak. We hadn't done dessert at any other restaurant, instead opting to pick up custard tarts on our way home, but we decided to try dessert here and weren't disappointed (chocolate cake and hazelnut thingy). Either make a reservation or go on the early side. They also accept credit cards unlike a number of other restaurants we've come across.

Yelp
Before I begin, the food here is phenomenal. The menu wine list and cocktails are second to none. But it would appear that the line out the door and the post Bourdain hysteria has gotten into their heads. We were so excited for our 8:00 reservation that my wife and I have been scouting out the menu for months and knew exactly what we're going to order, right down to the dessert. The problem is, we were not not given the opportunity to even order dessert as the check was slapped down on the table without so much as "how was everything? Can we get you anything else?" We can take a hint, we tipped out and left. Lisbon is filled with outstanding restaurants. Our dreams of sampling their amazing port selection were dashed, but given the disappointing service we were able to find another establishment just up the street that welcomed us with open arms and very warm greetings. Bottom-line. Excellent food. Awesome cocktails and wine list. Very poor service.

Yelp
Would def recommend the mushroom risotto and the partridge pies. The risotto is one of the best I've had. The Scallop avocado appears to be a popular app but I found it to be just about mediocre. The ambience is great with room to accommodate bigger groups. One thing to note is that in most Portuguese restaurants, they charge for Courvert, which is essentially bread or small plate of olives. If you don't want to be charged for those items best is to decline when they bring them over.
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this dinner. We had the scallop starter and the lamb and pork as main dishes to split. The menu had a variety of options and we chose meat because it was a good change from all the risotto and seafood we've been eating. This place came recommended from friends who couldn't get in during the busy season. December makes it easier to walk in at 9:00 on a Friday night but we took the only table left. I would suggest getting a reservation in advance.

Yelp
This is a very delicious and popular restaurant located in Lisbon, Portugal. This is one of the restaurants of the chef, Jose Avillez. During the summer and Popular tourism months, you definitely need a reservation here because it fills up very quickly and it's very hard to get a table if you just walk in. The prices here are a little bit high, but the food is delicious and the service is great and worth it. We ordered the tuna tartare, which was so delicious and well flavored in balance. We also ordered the eggs, which were good as well but not as good as a tuna tartare, and we also shared an entrée, a delicious meatball dish in an herbal sauce. I think three things are enough for two people to share.

Yelp
Tip: This restaurant does NOT take walk-ins, even if there are empty tables. I came here on a rainy day, but because I didn't have a reservation, they didn't seat us. I made a reservation for the next day and came back then. We ordered: Appetizers - Tuna Burrito, Fried Green Beans, Scallop and Avocado Entree - Foie Gras Burger, Scallops The Tuna Burrito was delicious! It's a raw tuna and "kimchi" burrito, but the kimchi sauce they used was extremely different from the kimchi you get back home. Fried Green Beans were freshly fried and the green beans were yummy. It's a very odd/overly-priced dish to order at such a restaurant, but this is definitely a must order. I was kind of disappointed by the Scallop and Avocado. It was good, but essentially just tasted like guacamole. The avocado overpowered the scallops, which was disappointing. Note: the scallops are raw. The Foie Gras Burger was pretty good. I was disappointed at how little foie gras is actually in the burger. The patty was very juicy, but the reason I ordered this was for the foie gras, which I could barely taste! The seared scallops were AMAZING! Definitely my favorite dish of the night. It was seared perfectly and the balsamic used on the vegetables was also delicious. Something to note is that service is VERY slow. It may be a European thing, but our food took a very long time to come out.

Yelp
Lisbon has great food and we were excited to come eat here after reading many reviews on the restaurant. We really wanted to love the place, however, we were so sorely disappointed. The prices were expensive compared to other nice restaurants in Lisbon (~20 euros per entree). For the price, both the service and the food were underwhelming, making it our least favorite meal in Portugal. We came for lunch on Monday and the host was nice in seating us - no wait. It took a while for the servers to take our order, but things in Portugal take a bit longer so not a problem. We had a heavy late breakfast so decided to go light on lunch. We ordered 2 starters and a main dish to share. We had the fish soup, professor eggs and the cod. The waiter poured the fish soup, but what was supposed to be a beautiful presentation with pieces of fried fish in the middle of the bowl was ended by the waiter pouring fish chunks that had settled at the bottom of the container, splattering the soup all over the place. For a place of this price, we expected the waiter to be able to pour soup correctly! The other dishes were nicely presented, but we're nothing special and underwhelming. Furthermore one of the bathroom was flooded with soaked toilet paper floating on the floor. All in all, it was not an expensive restaurant with a nice view but mediocre food nor the other way around, but it was mediocre and unacceptable in both ambience and food. I would not recommend coming here - there are lots of other great places in Lisbon.

Yelp
This place is a must. From the start the bread and spread is amazing the tuna tartare and oven roasted cheese with ham is amazing. I had an amazing pork steak while others had the steak sandwich, giant shrimp and octopus all were amazing with so much flavor leaving you wanting more. The deserts we had them all consistent with everything else amazing. The service was great. If your in town don't pass up on this , you will not regret it.

Yelp
Delicious Portuguese food, elevated above the casual but not fussy or haute cuisine. This is kind of like the Portuguese version of Rich Table in SF. Wonderful friendly service, took kids ages 14 and 11 and they loved it. Highlights were the baked Portuguese cheese, the giant shrimps, and the mushroom risotto.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went based upon the late Anthony Bourdain feature of this restaurant. (Btw not one of the staff even knew of him) It was our first visit to Lisbon and we were excited to visit on her birthday. Our tour of Lisbon ran over and we desperately tried to move our reservation back to 8pm from 7- simple request right? Well no live person answered the phone before 7pm just a revolving voice message with no option to change anything before our reservation including on the website- please fix this! When we did finally get through - we were told; we have many reservations - not sure we can accommodate! We risked it and were seated right away however we thought we could order apps and drinks then decide on the meal - waitress said we have a big group back there so you are best to order everything now ! So we did - The sausage app was a small pan of bread crumb with not any noticeable sausage and the pork chop was served as a single piece of meat on an empty plate - with a side order of potato chips ! My girl had shrimp the size of a Euro and rice bowl was so small. We are all for small portions yet we thought it was a joke! Look closely at the food pics on the site ! They look enormous- they are not ! Bread was good , wine selection overpriced and service left to be desired . We left hungry We won't be back ... caveat emptor !
