We visited Cantinho do Aziz as part of a wonderful culinary tour in Lisbon, and it was one of the highlights of the experience. This place has such a special story – it began as a family business led by talented and determined kids, and over time became a beloved spot that serves authentic, flavorful food with heart. We tried both the chicken and beef samosas, and they were absolutely delicious – crispy, perfectly spiced, and bursting with flavor. The homemade hot sauce is extremely spicy – be careful! My partner loved it and couldn’t stop talking about it. I had a glass of white wine and Alex had a beer – both paired really well with the food. Although it was a warm day and we were sitting outside, the atmosphere was relaxed and the space had a cozy, inviting feel to it. It’s clear that this place has soul – not just in the food, but in the story and the people behind it. We’re already curious to come back on our own, outside of the tour, to explore more of the menu and enjoy a full meal here. Highly recommended if you want a truly local and memorable food experience in Lisbon!

Google
Food was amazing! Beautifully seasoned. The drinks were strong. And the prices were really good for the amount of food and drink you received. I would definitely recommend for anyone in the area. They have seating outdoors and the busy back streets added to the character of my experience. I loved it.

Meat and Chicken Samosas in Cantinho do Aziz (Lisbon) Cantinho do Aziz’s samosas are an explosion of African flavor with a homemade touch. The meat ones have a juicy, spicy filling, with warm notes of cumin and pepper, perfectly balanced. The chicken ones are softer but just as tasty, with a touch of turmeric and onion that highlights without overshadowing the main flavor. The dough is crispy and light, well fried, without excess fat. Served hot, they are ideal as a starter or to share. The accompaniment with optional hot sauce further enhances the experience. An essential bite if you visit this Mozambican corner in the heart of Lisbon. Authentic, tasty and well prepared!

We came across this spot while walking through after our original plans fell through and I'm so glad we did. Service feels like family and the food is super good. I had the prawn curry and some yucca fries. Both had excellent flavors and textures and were cooked perfectly. The sangria was yummy too. I'd love to go back for another meal.

Google
I‘m sad I have to give a two, a one would be deserved for the pushy service. The sheer disappointment in her eyes as we ordered only one appetizer, one main, and a desert as we just came here for the flavors as we already had an early lunch before this … for the two of us. When she paid she asked explicitly for Tipp. When I said I live here she tried to apologize with a free shot (no tipping in Portugal, only tourists do so). The goat was tender, and samosas as well. But the service went down the drain since I was here 4 years ago. Tainted the experience. It’s also very expensive which the food was worth it if it wasn’t for terrible service.

Google
We came here on a food tour and we’ve been back everyday since. The chicken and beef samosas are unmatched! I found myself dreaming about them after we left. I’m not even kidding. If you visit Lisbon make it a point to stop by here. The samosas and a super bock will make your day!

Google
A local jem that must be seen if you ever visit Lisbon. Taste of Africa is something that everyone has to try at least once in their lives! PS the peanut sauce is awesome!!!

Google
By far, the best samosas I’ve ever had in my entire life. This place has to be a stop on your exploration of Lisbon. Be careful with the spicy piri-piri

Yelp
I'd never had Mozambican food, but think Indian samosas, but bigger and phyllo dough that's not chewy. The chamussas were some of the best things I've tasted. Meat or vegetable filled deep fried dough pockets packed with flavor. Try with the piri piri sauce which is hot/spicy. We ate them so quickly, forgot to take a pic.

Yelp
Hard to find this place, but worth the effort. Family owned for many years. Food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Really enjoyed watching the clientele... All kinds of people were in here eating!

Yelp
This Afro-Asian Moçambiquen restaurant is outdoors and utterly pleasant. The goat snd coconut shrimp are my favorites. Staff is great. Reservations needed on weekends. On a cold night it can be a bit of a wind tunnel and quite chilly though.

Yelp
This is a meal that you crave months later!!! If I ever get the chance to go back to Lisbon I will definitely visit Cantinho do Aziz. I searched for best African food in Lisbon, and this spot was at the top of many lists as the best one. I ordered Uber Eats because it was late and quite far from my hotel and it came carefully packaged and hot. I tried the chamuças, which are similar to samosas stuffed with meat and/or vegetables. I enjoyed the "de carne" the best as it was seasoned beef (I think) while the "vegetais" was cold with something similar to coleslaw and corn. I ordered the Muamba de galinha, which is a chicken dish, and this is the one I still think about today! It was tender, fall off the bone chicken (and beware of the bone as it's still on!) in a lovely curry-like soup that was super flavorful and had vegetables. A large serving of rice came on the side. The was super filling and not overwhelmingly spicy. I got the piri piri on the side (glad I did - because for me this was very hot) but it was a great addition to the meal. I also wanted to try the Miamba Muca, a grilled shrimp dish in a yellow curry with plantains. This was good but not as good as the chicken dish. The most dominant flavor here was actually lime, which I felt overpowered the dish, but it was different and I enjoyed it. Really grateful for the chance to have authentic African cuisine while in Lisbon. It was super affordable too - all of this cost only 31 euros on Uber Eats.

Yelp
Came to Cantinho do Aziz for chicken and beef samosas during our food tour around Lisbon. This restaurant is a hidden gem and an influence of African, Mozambique food. During our stop here we got a chicken and beef samosas along with white wine. The samosas went really well with the chili sauce especially if you like a kick in spice! This restaurant is located up an area of a lot of stairs and there is outdoor seating. It got pretty busy in the afternoon, early evening and the food looks amazing! Along with the pictures from other Yelp reviews! Would recommend giving it a try if you're in the area!

Yelp
In the most unassuming restaurant you can find, you will find the most impressive flavors! This was truly a magnificent meal. The owner is amazing, really kind happy and gave us a bit of a history lesson!! We met the chef, chef Jenny who was the nicest person too! Now about the star, the food. Omg it was an explosive fusion of flavors and regions that is indescribable. It had traces of India, Africa and Portugal! We had shrimp on three ways, mine had curry and coconut milk, my mom's was another and so was my sister's. I tried all and cannot say which was better. I would say, get one of each and you be the judge. Price to food ratio was good too.

Yelp
It was a rainy evening, our last meal before we take the long trek back to Cali. Boo hoo! Well this one was worth the climax in culinary cuisine. Not exactly the type of place you would think would require a reservation. But our hotel front desk guy who called many other African places listed on Yelp found they were all closed... permanently! But fortunately he recommended this spot and made us a reservation. Inside isn't big but, pictures show folks eating outside up the street. This was slap my African 12th great great grandma good. I've been on the west coast too long!!! As a former Portuguese colony, the mash up of colonial influence and traditional African cooking blends so prominently and proudly here. I can't wait to try more! The lamb was off the Chain with coriander, curry, black pepper, cinnamon lord knows what else added to the fall of the bone slow cooked entree enough to feed 2 -3 mortals. I ate the whole dam thing! The spicy wings were THE best I've ever eaten. I like flats not drumettes which only one was. I also like em extra crispy so the outside is crunchy to the bone and marrow which dissolve in your mouth as you suck on them. ( oh yeah totally suckable wings is a good thing) with the meat not mushy but fall of the bone firm and full of flavor. The spices were reminiscent of spicy Korean and jerk flavor. So as an end point many folks think Portuguese food is bland lacking depth and spice. Certainly I added spicy hot source or piri pire pretty much for every meal here. I ordered the large beer somewhat regretful because if never finish one. I needed it here! While they certainly offered spicy piri piri, there was enough flavor in the lamb and in the wings all by themselves. I didn't touch it. I wouldn't call Portuguese food bland... rather simple... the seafood certainly shines all by itself crazy fresh lonesome with simple butter or olive oil garlic salt and lemon. All you need But if you like spicy you will definitely want to check this spot out!!! So we finished our Portuguese trip with Portuguese food... kicked up a few notches.

Yelp
This is a fantastic hole in the wall place for African/Portuguese food! Quality- the sangria was delicious. It was flavorful with apple, lemon, mango, and pineapple. The chicken wings have a nice touch of heat and is cooked perfectly. It's got a nice crispy charred texture. The seafood dish was stacked to the bring with clams, shrimp, mussels and had a nice coconut taste and is fresh. Quantity- you get a lot for 40 euros. Enough for 3 people. Atmosphere- hole in the wall outdoor eating with a nice fire. Service- fast service for 1 person on staff.

Yelp
LISTENNNNNN The food here is too good!!! I repeat, THE FOOD HERE IS TOO GOOD!! It's an obscure location & was hard to find at first. Waitress came & sat me, took drink order. It wasn't super busy but this is a stop for some walking food tours and there were only 2 waitresses at the time so service was a bit slow Tried the chamusas - chicken & beef Super flavorful & flaky but be careful w/ the spicy dipping sauce, it was SPICY but good Ordered the lamb dish - Chili Bakra - which is meant to be shared for 2 people because the portions are generous DELICIOUS!! the lamb was tender, small chops but plenty of meat on the bone and the sauce was thick and well seasoned

Yelp
Heard great things about this restaurant and stopped in for my last night in Lisbon and so glad I did. Things I enjoyed: - the outdoor dining area is super cute! especially at night. I was chilly, so opted for indoor dining. - my meal was great! I had the lamb dish and it was perfectly seasoned. I only wished it was spicier because I'm a huge fan of spice, but delicious and filling! - I got to meet the owner and his beautiful family and they were just amazing. They gave me ton of recommendations for other cool spots to visit in the area which I thought was super sweet! Conveniently located for me, loved the customer service and the food was top notch!

Yelp
Amazing find in all alley - thanks to a local tour guide who noticed us wandering around- he recommended here and we are happy we found this Cantinho. Sebastian recommended several dishes and sauces - all of them delicious!

Yelp
Of course, I knew that Portugal had colonies all along the African coast, across Southern Asia and as far along the China coast as Macao but I didn't realize that the result of this would be Mozambican restaurants here in Lisbon. My fault for not thinking that though. Cantinho do Aziz was a stop on our food tour and it was fabulous. Interesting fusion of Indian/Mozambican/Portuguese with lots of vegetarian options. We got to try their amazing beef samosas, a fabulous curry, some bean stew and rice cooked with coconut milk. Lots of spice but not a tremendous amount of heat. I put some of their piripiri sauce on it to kick it up and wow, that stuff is hot! Cantinho do Aziz has some great outside seating and great food. Defintely worthy of a meal. [Review 16601 overall - 118 in Portugal - 111 of 2022.]

Yelp
Delicious Mozambican food tucked away in quiet laneway in Lisbon. It was fairly busy outside so we decided to sit inside. Although the service wasn't quick, it was worth the wait as the food was excellent. The plates have an authentic wholesome meal feeling, and the flavour is to match. Recommended if you have the time during your trip!

Yelp
This was a very nice surprise. My sister found it online and we decided to try it. It's a little out of the way, literally in a small neighborhood at the top of one of Lisbon's hills. There does not seem to be any indoor seating so if you come in the summer for dinner, dress accordingly because it can be hot. The chamusas (samosas) were great, the goat Chacuti dish was terrific and my sister ordered the N'Biji seafood stew, also excellent, and both came with coconut rice. However, a word of warning: either entree could easily feed two. I know it sounds adventurous to say "Mozambican food" but unless you are strictly a meat and potatoes kind of eater you will not go wrong eating at this place.

Yelp
Chamussas (samosas) were delicious and meat dishes were flavorful and fall of the bone tender. Nice sunny spot at Largo dos Trigueiros.

Yelp
Absolutely try this place out! We tried the samosas on a tour and they were so good I needed to buy more. Honestly one of the best food choices I made while in Lisbon.
google avatar

Yelp
Lamb & Coconut Rice This is honestly some of the best Lamb I've had in a long time. It was tender and fell right off the bone. Felt as if they had it in the pot for hours just waiting on me to order it. Mixed with the perfectly cooked Coconut rice adds all the flavor one could need. Definitely would recommend, they will see my business again before I leave Lisbon but now I'm conflicted, try something new or re-enter heaven with the Lamb again.

Yelp
This day was POURING so hard in Lisbon. We would have loved to sit outside in the narrow alley. The restaurant was a little hard to find, even with the help of Google Maps. I ordered the cider and had expected it to come in a bottle only. Nope! It came well-presented, with the bottle upside down in a glass filled with fruits. That was a pleasant surprise. My hubby ordered the African juice but nothing noteworthy to comment. I wanted to emphasize what I thought was false advertising. The Muamba (chicken with bone) on the menu had specifically indicated okra and other African vegetable"S". Please note the plural form of vegetable. I was like "oh, I want to try African vegetables! I wonder what they are!" Turned out the dish had only chicken with bone, okra and zucchini. There was only ONE other vegetable in addition to the okra. To be fair, maybe zucchini was an African vegetable (I live in Canada so I see zucchinis everywhere); however, it was still singular and not plural. Otherwise, the chicken was quite yummy and flavorful. My hubby's beef was sooooo hard to eat! I gave up after 2 pieces as I ended up spitting them out because I couldn't swallow. I would have given this restaurant a higher review if the menu was more accurate in description and the beef more tender. Nonetheless, if you like African food, I'd recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Great food in a cool little alley outside the restaurant. We found this place during a food tour and made a point to come back on our own.

Yelp
The lamb was excellent. Very tender with wonderful flavors. The chicken with okra was fair. The chicken was a bit dry.

Yelp
Had to make a stop here after hearing a youtuber rave about the picante bakra piri piri dish (lamb stew). Came here on a Thursday afternoon and had a seat outside. Our first waiter was friendly and gave us some time to look at the menu. a few minutes later, he had to go on break so another guy ended up taking our orders. The menu is pretty confusing with all the different fonts and text, so I needed more time, but the other guy seemed to rush us to put in our orders. I hurriedly picked a few dishes.. however, we waited a solid 40 minutes before our food arrived... We ordered the following: -Beef chamussas: These were like samosas. Quite delicious and come with a spicy sauce. The spicy sauce definitely has a kick and a little goes a long way! Definitely elevates the chamussa. Recommend this dish. -Picante bakra piri piri - lamb stew. The lamb was soooo tender and delish. A must have! -Mozambique crab (caril caranguejo) - I wasn't sure what to expect with this dish. It was just okay.. The crab didn't seem fresh and the portion was extremely tiny for the price! Skip this dish.. There are some good dishes.. but the wait after being rushed was a huge turn off.

Yelp
Total waste of time. Believe me, I get it, Cantinho is a "hole in the wall" restaurant. But a traveller's restaurant memory should be "I had the. most amazing (insert name of dish) in this off-the-beaten path, hole in the wall restaurant in Lisbon. The restaurant feel well short of the mark. I had the chicken - forgot if it was piri-piri or other. The chicken was tender, not dry, I'll give them that. But both chicken and rice were bland, French fries were flabby not totally fried. It rained during my meal and I had to move indoors. While I was seated there, I notice one of the managers (?) - elderly gentleman, rolling cutlery into napkins. All the while he was coughing. No, correction, he was "cough-heaving" while preparing the cutlery. There was a bit of an issue with getting the correct change, but we sorted it out. I didn't leave a tip, as I thought it was not deserved. BTW, I speak Portuguese, and am definitely not White. So this is not about palate, culture, or language differences or any other euphenism one would like to use. This is an issue of a restaurant's great hype, but bad food. A waste of time.
google avatar

Karin F.

Yelp
Delicious and great service. The hostess and waiters are helpful and friendly. The food is well cooked and the spices, just right. You can ask for more or less spice based on what you prefer. Highly recommend for a quality choice in Lisbon. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
We decided to explore outside the Baixa tourist area, climbed a steep alley and found this gem of a restaurant. The food we had was delicious, with a lot of Indian influences. Had the shrimp curry and lamb stew. The flavors were so rich and satisfying. Wish we came with a bigger group so we could try and share more variety of dishes.
google avatar

Premlata P.

Yelp
Food was bad, service was worse. I ordered coconut rice and they gave me undercooked, plain rice. I told the waiter (an older man) that the rice was undercooked and he said to me, "maybe you're just not feeling well", threw his hands in the air and walked away. Additionally, the lamb dish I ordered barely had any flavor. . . I've eaten all over the world and don't generally leave one star reviews even if I don't like the food but this was truly a horrible experience. I regretted spending my money there. The staff was rude and the food certainly didn't make up for their attitudes. I don't recommend.

Yelp
Went here twice when visiting Lisbon in February. First time I had the makoufe, and the second time the chicken muamba. Both had amazing flavours, but I think the makoufe is the better dish (chicken was very dry). This was my first time trying Mozambican food and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Had a big lunch so wandered the streets thinking about snacks for dinner. Smelled something delectable and turned left Small place, tiny kitchen, very busy staff. And over-the-top delicious food. Order a bottle of wine and chill out. You will be rewarded.

Yelp
We totally enjoyed a lovely meal here, in part because, well, there's only so much codfish and seafood one can eat, delicious as it may be. You can make reservation online, so if you are going on a weekend, consider doing so. We went early on a weekday night and got seated right away. It's our first time trying Mozambican food, but the short menu is easy enough to navigate, especially as some dishes are in essence the same seasoning with different meats. There are seafood, beef, lamb and chicken, plus one lone vegan dish for herbivores. We had Makoufe, which is prawns and crab "involved in" a coconut and peanut sauce and served with coconut rice. We also tried the Bakra Piripiri. I've only tried piri piri chicken, and didn't even know that you can make it with lamb. Everything is plate-licking delicious, though the crab is messy to eat.

Yelp
I followed Mark Wien's (youtuber) advice and tried out this place. It's one of the best meal we had when we were at Lisbon. Service 5/5: The waiters were nice and let us took our time to order. He tried his best to speak in English to explain the menu to us. Ambience: The restaurant is hidden in an alleyway, but they have outdoor and indoor seating. It is very cute with a few graphics on the wall. Food: We ordered lamb, chicken and beef samosas. Our favorite was the chicken, it was juicy, tender and just like no other! You have to order that! There was plenty of beef in the samosas so that's a plus. The lamb was just as good as well. I highly recommend this place to people to try it out. If I'm ever back in town, I'd go back.

Yelp
We ended up here because honestly, after 10 days in Portugal, we wanted to eat something that wasn't Portuguese - and Mozambiquan food is something that we can't get at home. We started off with beef chamussas (samosas) which were accompanied by a fiery hot red pepper sauce. They were excellent. We followed that up with Ximamba (vegetables in a coconut curry), peri peri chicken, and the Bakra piripiri (curry lamb ribs) - sharing all the entres family style. The flavors were similar to Goan Indian food - the curries use coconut milk and are nice and spicy. Everything was delicious, and I especially liked the lamb ribs - they were nice and meaty and curry sauce complimented them perfectly.

Yelp
The service was terrible. 1 - seating: the inside was completely open, but they told us that we had to sit outside after we asked to sit inside. That wasn't an issue for us so we went to go sit at one of the outside tables. What I didn't enjoy about the seating was the environment. We sat on mismatched, dirty tables while constantly swatting flies and simultaneously trying to avoid the pigeons (The flies and pigeons are not their fault, but it was unpleasant). 2 - the ordering process: We ordered the roasted chicken and they came back after a few minutes later to tell us that they had ran out. This was not too big of deal until we realized that a party of customers that had come a bit after us were able to order and receive the chicken (and multiple other tables had also gotten multiple orders). 3 - the wait: They "LOST OUR ORDER TICKET" and did not tell us about it until we asked where our food was after WAITING FOR AN HOUR. When they told us that they had not even started on our order, we kindly asked to leave as we were starving. They refused to let us leave and brought us mediocre sweet potato chips and a slice of coconut cake that was horrible. We profusely asked for the check and they told us they would have our food made in 10 minutes, again not letting us leave. 4 - the food: I have to admit the food was not terrible. However, there seemed to be beard hairs in the food which was unappetizing to say the least. 5 - the aftermath: As we got up to pay the check and leave instead of waiting for our second dish (it had been 20 minutes after they gave us the first dish), the STAFF WERE LAUGHING and making fun of us for being upset over their service. The worker also KEPT LABELING US AS THE WRONG RACE even though we corrected him after the first time he labeled us. This may have been a one off situation, but I certainly will not be coming back.

Yelp
My wife and I were taken here on an Air BnB food tour. In a city ubiquitous w top quality restaurants, it is one of only two establishments we have returned to during a two week stay. The chef has her own cook book, a very good sign indeed... I had the goat, though it may as well have been lamb. My wife had the shrimp, crab and rice dish. While the food is outstanding and well priced, the real star is Sebastian, a sweet, funny, endearing man. He took incredibly good care of us. On a hot summer day, the fans and misters were on, a very necessary touch, as the food has a nice kick, too,

Yelp
Wonderful food, good portions, good prices. Also offers gluten free options. Great atmosphere. Will be coming again.

Yelp
Didn't realize that Mozambique was a Portuguese colony. Made for a unique style of food and enjoyable dinner sitting outside in the old Moorish district.

Yelp
Great food and amazing waiting staff!! The food was so good I went back twice. I went with the Nahma(pictured) and my wife went with the Wuco. The flavors were so amazing that I couldn't resist eating my plate AND hers. The sangria was also amazing and we could tell that they poured enough wine in it to really make an impact. Also thank you to Isabella, who is wonderful and very charismatic! This place is a must go, and I recommend you go here for the food, the vibes, the people, and everything else!

Yelp
Outside tables definitely could use some work. A lot of rust and stains. Our server was definitely enthusiastic about his work and was great at making small jokes. The food is decent, but definitely not something I would go out of the way to try. Pricing is quite a bit more expensive than the value of the dishes. Other restaurants offer better value for the same price range.

Yelp
Sadly this was my only bad experience eating after a month long solo trip through Portugal. Food was delicious. That said, with all the reviews about "Sebastián", let me tell you how he treated a solo woman...I walked up, lunchtime. Half the tables were empty. He asked if I had a reservation I said no. He pointed at a table...looked at me and said, you know this is Mozambican food? I smiled and said yes, that's why I'm here. He went on to seat and greet every other customer. He waited on every other customer. He sent someone else to wait on me. I watched as he went from table to table with same jovial spiel..."hello. My name is Sebastián. It's the greatest name in the whole world. Why? Because it's my name." He then asked every person at every table their name. He wrote down their names. When he came to serve them, he looked down at his list of written names, and he gave the same BS canned line to them all. I got my food. It was delicious. I had a beef Samosa and the peanut chicken. The guy who helped me was super nice...not a script that he read to everyone, just nice. I ate. I cleaned my plate. It was very delicious food. Sebastián walked by and said "you ready for your check?" Not any nicety. Not a thank you. Not the stupid same lines he gave to EVERY OTHER customer in the place. I said sure. He brought my bill in a tin, put it in front of me without a glance or an acknowledgment, then went onto the next table with, "hello. My name is Sebastián. It's the best name in the world. Want yo know why? Because it's my name". I think I watched him say that 5 times while I was there. I put the exact change in the tin. I always tip well btw. Always. I grabbed my extra good tip this time and walked to the kitchen to see if I could find the nice guy who helped me to give him the tip. Sebastián surely would have taken it lol. Sebastián followed me. I asked where my server was. He said he left and waived me off. I took my then 30 percent tip and handed it to the woman in the kitchen. If I had to guess, Sebastián probably took it from her. He struck me as that type of dude. Food is good. If you go, observe Sebastián snd if you are a single woman, make sure your tip goes into the hands of the kitchen staff. Worst experience in a month in Portugal. Sebastián, good sir, your name is only as great as the person you are. I'd stop saying it's the greatest name in the world. Peace.

Yelp
I'm going to make this review very short and bitter and why this restaurant deserves a 1 star from me. I wish I could give this place 0. Food was great, outdoor ambience was wonderful. A cute place plopped on the hill. However, the service was lacking throughout the night, we had to keep asking for our orders as they kept forgetting to put them in. That was fine, it happens anywhere. What was sad was when they begged for tips. Mark Wiens was spot on, this place is delicious but please beware. It has become a tourists trap.

David D.

Yelp
Horrible. I got the peri peri chicken and it was good for me but my dad got some sort of chicken that was dry and after having it. It made him feel horrible he was throwing up for hours having diarrhea and feeling terrible it worried me. Please don't go here unless you wanna get sick

Yelp
By far the best meal I ever had in Lisbon. A unique fusion of the cuisine of Mozambique with South Asian subcontinental flavors. Vegetarian friendly options on the menu as well. Lovely outdoor patio - a great place to eat on a summer evening.

Yelp
Great restaurant, beautiful location below Saint George's Castle. Aziz, Sebastian and the whole crew are phenomenal. The food is flavorful; the drinks are great (I cannot recommend Aziz's cider enough--like a sangria, but with a cider base). We had the beef chamussas, well seasoned, crispy and flaky. The crab curry and the coconut rice were excellent, but to me it is the chacuti de cabrito that totally stole the show: the Indian influence on Mozambican cuisine mentioned by the knowledgeable waiter became clear. Cantinho do Aziz is truly a gem!

Yelp
I religiously watch mark wiens' videos . When I saw him eating here I couldnt wait to to lisboa to try it. Never had mozambicain cuisine before. Its not your pretty, insta worthy, hipster restaurant BUT its one of those places with a SOUL. The waiters were so nice and helpful i really felt at home. It was so good we came twice. Omg try thir bakra piri piri and beef samosa so worth it and the prices are reasonable.

Yelp
EAT HERE...thank me later. Amazing food, authentic & fresh! My mom & I came here due to the raving yelp reviews and they were all accurate. It was a Monday night and called ahead to make a reservation; good thing we did because they get pretty busy pretty quickly. We started off with samosa appetizers which the waitress recommended...they were delicious! So much so we order 2 rounds. I ordered the Mozambique crab dish with rice & sauce...soooo good! The crab was over cooked but the dish was perfect! My mom order shrimp with coconut sauce & rice. Hers was delish as well!! We topped off the night with the bibingka cake & this pudding...my mouth is literally watering at the thought. Amazing meal! Great customer service!

Yelp
Cantinho do Aziz is an African restaurant perched on a hill in the Mouraria neighborhood of Lisbon. Coming for dinner one evening, we were seated at a table outside (this was a very rustic hole-in-the-wall). Our waiter didn't seem to be particularly with the menu and was a little bit thrown off by my questions, but we ended up ordering the N'bui com marisco, a coconut curry with perch, prawns, crab, mussels, and clams. The seafood was plentiful and delicious, but the real kicker was the nicely spiced, light curry sauce that went perfectly with the side of coconut rice! We also had the chacuti de cabrito, a lamb dish with a dark coconut curry (like a Malaysian rendang). Again, the sauce was amazing and deep with flavor, but many of the lamb chunks were rather tough, such that we couldn't cut or bite through them at all. The portion sizes of the dishes were also not particularly large, but not a bad value for the prices!

Yelp
Located off a narrow street, this place is busy! This is not a date spot but an amazing place to get cheap, local Portuguese food. Got the lamb piri piri after hearing good reviews. The dish was amazing, almost similar to home made lamb curry except for the piri piri sauce and the meat was tender. Service was good. Overall good place to try piri piri if in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in for early dinner with my wife and two daughters. Very happy we found this hidden gem. It's location is perfectly situated in a nice neighborhood with an awesome patio for outdoor dining. I had the lamb shank and it was out of this work good. Wife and daughters enjoyed their crab as well. Prices were a bit on the high side but I think fair for the quality of the food. Highly recommend!
