I have always loved the exhibits at the Canton art museum. This winter I decided to take a pottery class. 10 weeks, 2 hrs every Thursday. I need to state that the teacher was very nice and these issues I have, have nothing to do with her. But first they need to stress before the class starts how this isn't actually isn't much time to learn and open lab hours are key to advancing if that is your goal. My second issue is that the class ended 9 weeks ago and I still have one thing I made, just sitting on a shelf waiting to be fired. I am aware I am not the only person taking classes and that it takes time for the kilns to heat up and cool down. But to me this seems extreme. And maybe something people should also be made aware of. When I started the class, I saw a wheeled cart of people's finished projects with a "pick up by date" sign tapped to it ... eventually things got thrown away and I couldn't understand why. Possibly these people gave up on getting their projects back or forgot to keep checking.
