Cantwell House

This is a quaint B&B located in the Jelly Bean area, walking distance to downtown , lots of street parking. Audrey is a wonderful host, and her breakfasts are yummy, and she even accommodated my Gluten Free diet. Audrey was very helpful with tips on the area. We enjoyed having breakfast and meeting the other guests, and talking about our adventures. The 3rd floor balcony has an amazing view of the harbour. Goodies were left out in the afternoon.

We had a lovely stay at the Cantwell house. Comfortable beds, very spacious room and bathroom and very well located. Parking and breakfast is included which was really nice and convenient. The host was also very accommodating and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at Cantwell House for two days in August. The rooms are so unique with Newfoundland culture. The view at the balcony was great: Signal Hill, harbour, Jellybean Row. The host Audrey made us delicious hot breakfast, and allowed us to store our luggage there after checking out. We chatted with Audrey and other guests in the dinning room. It was a great stay.

My wife and I loved our stay here. Very comfortable room, fantastic breakfast prepared by Audrey, incredible view looking toward the harbour from the 3rd floor balcony. Location was terrific and easy walking distance to The Rooms, the harbour and George St. It's on a fairly busy street but no issues with noise inside the house and parking was easy to find, often right in front of the house. Audrey was wonderful, very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend a stay here!

A really friendly and knowledgeable host made this stay great. Lovely room and good breakfast and even lent us camping chairs to take to the folk festival just round the corner.

Such an adorable place to stay! Cantwell House is a true gem in the heart of St. John’s! Audrey and her team have decorated each room with delightful details and interesting bits of Newfoundland history. The breakfast in the morning was delicious; if you have the chance, I definitely recommend the moose bologna. Best of all though is the rooftop balcony with an amazing view of the harbour; we could watch the boats pass for hours.

We stayed at Cantrell House several years ago before Audrey took it over. We loved it then and love it now. It’s a beautiful “Jellybean” home in the heart of St.John’s that is immaculate and wonderfully appointed. The rooms are spacious and so comfortable and there is a fridge in each room which is a bonus. There is a balcony and sitting area for guests that overlooks St. John’s Harbour and once you’re there you never want to leave. Audrey is a warm, friendly, knowledgeable host that clearly loves what she does. Breakfasts were delicious and varied and the coffee was just the best. My husband and I stayed at Cantwell House at both the beginning and end of our holiday in Newfoundland (five nights). We loved staying here and absolutely enjoyed getting to know our host Audrey!! Cantwell House is located a few blocks up the hill from the waterfront where you'll find the restaurants and shops of St. John's. There was parking available on the street in front of the house. Both rooms that we had were large and beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. There was a lounge on the top floor and a little balcony with seating outside overlooking the harbour for the guests to use. The wifi was excellent. In the morning, Audrey served an amazing (and different each day) breakfast plus a beautiful fruit salad along with available cereal, coffee, tea and juice. A wonderful start to the day! Audrey spent time with her guests and offered suggestions on places to visit and eat in St. John's and in the surrounding area. Don't miss Petty Harbour and Cape Spear! Cantwell House was one of our favourite places to stay in our month away and we think you'll agree too!
