First time there and really enjoyed myself. What a beautiful quaint restaurant that I never knew about. Great live music on Friday nights! Food was amazing was super excited about the onion soup which did not disappoint! House pizza was fantastic and the salads are great too. Highly recommend checking out and supporting local.

Google
Frustrated from traffic delays due to construction. Worst pizza I have ever had. Burnt thoroughly. Plenty of seats available. Good happy hour.

Everything A+. Salmon, spinach cooked to perfection. Excellent wines, berry cobbler the finishing touches. A little traffic noise outside but nice ambiance regardless. Will be back!

Not really a review type of person, but I left here highly unsatisfied. First off the positive. Had live music playing, just loud enough to still have a conversation. The wine was good also. Then to the bad. I ordered the Pei Mussels With White Wine & Dijon. The muscles weren't great quality and almost empty. The smell was off putting right away. After shelling a few and trying to eat a few I moved my dish to the outside of the table and awaited the waitress. She never came back. I ate the frys that came along with the dish. After a different person came to clear the table, nothing was asked about the nearly untouched dish, so I waited again for the waitress. After I asked if we would like another wine, I flagged down our waitress, ordered the wine and mentioned there was something off with my main and that I ate the frys that accompanied the muscles. Upon receiving the bill a 50% discount of that meal was taken from the bill. I left beyond disappointed, hungry and unfortunately won't be returning anytime soon. Which is a shame because I have been quite a few times for both happy hour and dinner.

I recently grabbed a Bistro House Burger to-go, paired with sweet potato fries, and it was outstanding! Seriously, one of the most delicious burgers I've enjoyed in a long time. I'm already looking forward to exploring the rest of their menu. My compliments to the chef 🧑‍🍳

Google
Great Music, food and service. Larry the owner and his staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. It's a wonderful rustic vibe in which to enjoy world class musicians in an intimate setting. And the food is incredible. We loved the salmon and the shrimp and linquine and goat cheese salad were are wonderful. Also enjoyed the berry crumble and cheesecake for desert. Already making plans to come back!

Google
By far my favorite place to dine and listen to live music. Each time I have visited, the food nor the live music has disappointed. I look forward to the experience I receive each and everytime I get a chance to visit. I live in Bakersfield (2 hour drive) and will take the trip to be sounded by great people, great food and great music as much as I can.

Google
Amazing food and Service!!! The Salmon with Mashed potato and spinach was full of flavor and not heavy at all. The grilled fish tacos were great with a flavorful sauce. The Seared Tuna Tartine was definitely my favorite, so full of flavor and fresh. So many items I want to go back and try!

Yelp
Make a reservation because Canyon Bistro can get crowded. It is the best place we have been to in Topanga. Some of the other places were just terrible or average. But this is the place to go. We loved it. We loved everything about it and we will be back. Parking is not fun, but they have valet. Do that. The place is really pretty and very clean. You can dine inside or out. We prefer being inside. We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time and the front desk staff is lovely. They have a full bar, but we did not partake so I can't speak to that. The place is just calm and relaxing. The staff is great. They are very nice and will guide you through the menu if you want. They check on you and make sure you are happy. We loved all our food and shared it all. For starters we had Cajun calamari which was so good. It is spicy, but not too spicy. We also tried their grilled artichoke which had a wonderful flavor of lemon and garlic. Just wow! We loved the Caesar salad. It was so fresh, chilled and crisp. We had an entire bowl of mussels with garlic bread and the sauce it was all cooked in was amazing. For our mains we shared the salmon and the ribeye. Cooked to perfection and they have a wonderful choice of sides. We had garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. The garlic mashed was so good. I don't care for spinach usually, so I left that one alone. It was gone in a flash and we were so full, we had no room for dessert. All of it was wonderful, the service was so nice and we had a great time.

Yelp
Regular price for a burger- $18 New years eve price for the same burger- $24. What a rip...

Yelp
amazing customer service! Food was delicious. We got the bbq pizza, shrimp tacos and crème brûlée. But the reason I am writing this review is because of our amazing servers both were amazing Morgan was just so welcoming, kind made our first experience so great! Adolfo was very attentive and there asking if we need anything! Probably one of the best experiences I've had. Definitely will return !

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place. Food is decent, service is so-so. Went on two separate occasions. Calamari was good. But does not come with marinara. Asked for some and got a $3 upcharge for marinara. This place is upcharge city. Ordered a burger and they charged us $4 for lettuce and tomato. I kid you not. See the photo. The chocolate dessert we ordered was undercooked and basically chocolate soup underneath the top thin crust. The bathroom setup is ridiculous. They give you a key dangling from a huge kitchen utensil and tell you to walk 100 yards that way. It's shared restroom facilities with the shopping center.

Yelp
Mi favorita spot in the canyon of Topanga! Sweet staff and lovely options. Cosy atmosphere. Come for the food and stay for the feels!

Yelp
Best food here. I got the salmon and it was so crispy on the skin portion and cooked to perfection inside. Love this place. It is a very beautiful place with a great ambiance. The service is amazing too. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Super yummy food. Best staff around! Super warm and friendly vibe. Inside and outside seating. Bar with low key TV (sports). Happy hour with good wines and affordable eats. Dinner can be pricey but there are options to split food, order nosh etc. some wonderful music nights as well. I highly recommend this restaurant

Yelp
There's a good reason why I haven't come here in a super long time and I realize and remember it was due to the awful customer service! Today I went for Happy Hour and ordered a simple $9 calamari. The waiter owner was super nice giving me waters and it was exceptional and the food came out very fast. I know I didn't spend a lot so I knew that was why the waiter was not happy about it but I really wasn't hungry and didn't want to order a huge meal. He claimed my card was declined and when I was already embarrassed giving him another card which I knew didn't have funds, he tried it and said when I told him to run the original card, he said "only 1 time" as if he did it before. He never did because it worked and I also checked my balance. I had money to buy things at other places and it is incredibly obnoxious to allege I don't have less than $10, not to mention humiliating. There was not even evidence that this guy ran my card at all whatsoever. Purely unethical & incredibly rude. I am telling all my friends and family not to patronize this place and also letting the public know. I will never come back here again! The food was good but not exceptional because of that terrible lie about my card being declined & scaring me into believing he even tried it. And I do not feel bad for not tipping because guess what? They do not deserve my patronage. When you have money, you better believe that customers have a plethora range of options in Los Angeles to patronize. It taught me such a valuable lesson which is to: 1) Always carry cash and 2) Always patronize places where you can be low key and not have to order a pretentious amount to receive exceptional service. Food is good but not something worth going your way out of if that makes sense. And with all the other aspects mentioned above, I just want to let people know to be picky. For me, I really enjoy ambiance, service, quality of food, and positive vibes. If things are lacking in any area, then it's best to just avoid it and focus on the best places to be. Honestly, location is cool but not the best.

Yelp
My gal and I had a terrific time here. we started with the muscles which came in incredible sauce that we had to ask for more garlic bread to sop it up then we shared a skirt steak with chimichurri which was delicious plus our wine choice was phenomenal. Also enjoyed the live music a great place for a date.

Yelp
Nice place but skip the French Onion Soup. Hanger steak was great. The mussels are great delicious but onions for the soup were way under done.

Sophie Z.

Yelp
Deeply saddened by the change of their French onion soup from vegetarian to non. Why, oh why?! There are so many vegetarians in Topanga! Your French onion soup was perfect before! It was my favorite thing on the menu. Went today and was very sad to hear it is now made with beef stock. I'll happily give 5 stars for being a reliable canyon dinner spot with the best French onion soup ever IF they return their soup to vegetarian. Please Larry, change it back!

Yelp
It's tucked away in the little string of shops near the corner of Topanga and Old Topanga. The creek runs behind it and the jazz runs through it. Real jazz, like the kind they play on the records. Except real and live. And Jazz. Somehow, I'd managed to drive by this place a hundred times without ever noticing it - and that feels strange. So when I say "tucked away" I'm serious. It's folded into this location like a pearl in an oyster. Like a silver dollar in the awkwardly massive palm of Andre The Giant. We ate food; there were burgers and salads and fries and beers, wines and cocktails. There was a soup of the day. There was a hard-workin' staff that kept it all clickin' while the musicians were musicing. The volume level was just so that our tablemates could actually converse. Had the musicians been playing Stablemates at that moment, my tablemates might've gotten off on the irony. I know I almost did. But they weren't playing that song. I throw no shade at the musicians for this. I will come here again. Hopefully memory serves me and I'm actually able to find it again. I'm sure I will again. My only non-stellar comment has to do with the location of the bathroom. You see a person at the front, grab some giant cooking spoon with a key on it, traipse around the mall-that-isn't-a-mall and eventually find yourself in a poorly lit alley where brooms and mops are stored. Possibly rodent repellant as well. The bathrooms are in this location. You can then either A: bring the spoon with a key on it back to The Canyon Bistro or B: take the spoon home. Probably go with A.

Yelp
For one, you're in the magic of Topanga. Great service and the ravioli never lets me down.

Yelp
Canyon bistro on a summer's Friday night is spectacular jazzy number ya don't wanna miss. We sat on the outdoor patio, strung about with twinkle lights, in the crisp summer's air listening to classic jazz numbers that make this a memorable and elegant. dinning experience. Music anything, everywhere, all the time is always a good idea. Right? We ordered vegan tacos, the impossible burger and sweet potatoes fries. All super yummy, tacos were a lil spicy bc of the added sauce which gave them a kick I really enjoyed. Then closed the evening out with churros and ice cream. Isn't that like a vegetarian's dream dinner? Yep, it really was. Servers were delightful and maybe a tiny bit of CBD-infused but why the heck not? Lol Anyway, it's tucked away in the back corner of this cozy, bucolic wooded shopping area. Full of yoga studios, and gourmet mini markets. Just drive up and park, ta-da easy peezzyyy. Will be back soon, and some more menu item exploring and more jazzzyyyy nights! Love it guys. :)

Yelp
Food is really good. Surrounded by nature. Friendly staff Great service Nice night out

Yelp
Love the ambience here, that combines small town friendliness with laid-back Topanga vibe. Seriously good calamari and wings and limited but well curated selection of happy hour drinks. I'd steer clear of the pizza only because the crust is uninspired (good sauce, good cheese). Contributing to the welcoming vibe is Morgan, our server, and looking forward to seeing her again.

Yelp
Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Great beer batter that's super crisp. Chips were fab too. They have malt vinegar too and their jalapeño tartar sauce wasn't spicy but had great smoky flavor. Service was good and the patio was decent. I'd come back.

Yelp
Wrong information on yelp for hours. I don't know how it can edit that they close at 3:30 and open again at four.

Yelp
We have been enjoying Canyon Bistro since Larry first opened his doors years ago. The outdoor patio is a fun place to enjoy live music on the weekends and when the weather turns cold there's always the indoor dining room which is cozy. The food and service are always excellent. My favorite is the warm goat cheese salad. It's the perfect spot to meet with friends in Topanga for Happy Hour.

Yelp
Love their bistro burger cooked medium (add cheese) it's the best !!!!! I highly recommend it if you're ever around, great service ass well

Yelp
I really don't like to leave bad or soso reviews because after 2020, businesses are having a hard time. But in the off chance that they will learn and do better, then constructive criticism can help. It is a cute place, decorated with heart. The sandwich I had was decent enough. Good taste and texture, it had an egg on top and cheesy sauce. Decent . There is decent parking, it's in a small outdoor shop area. No inside bathrooms FYI, you get a key attached to a big silver serving spoon, and it's outside down aways, shared with the complex. Coffee was ok. The side of sweet potato fries that came with were not bad, but for some reason, their ketchup is super sugary tasting. I asked for ranch as a substitute, and they don't have ranch, so the server offered different aiolis as a sub. I chose one, and it was then that he told me it would be 50 cents more. Had I known all this, I just would have gotten the coleslaw. Also, if you want the salt and pepper shakers, you have to ask. My server was nice. Sweet guy. But no one really came to refill coffee without me asking. They all share that task, so it's on all of them I would give them another try.. I was the only one in my dining room. Everybody else dined on the patio.

Ivonne A.

Yelp
Morgan & Monique are the HEART of this wonderful bistro. Thank You! Live music is the added bonus

Yelp
Overall it's not a bad spot relative to your options in this small town. All the food was pretty decent - and their beef was really good - but the pizza was pretty bad. Crust felt undercooked/soggy and we ended up just eating the toppings off the pizza. The toppings themselves, however, were pretty generous and tasted really good. Burger was great and salad with the candied walnuts was great. Service was really good! The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is quiet enough where it felt like I could hear everyone else's conversation and vice versa. Not sure if I remember there being music playing. If I ever come back to Topanga, I'll probably dine here again, but perhaps try their other entrees. Blue burger - 7.4 House salad - 8.0 House pizza - 2.6 (beef was fantastic tho)

Yelp
Loved the food, the ambiance and the service was great. I really liked the vibe of the restaurant. I went for the entertainment the jazz band was great.

Yelp
Canyon Bistro is a great place to have dinner and drinks! They offer a range of different gourmet cuisines and a well-rounded selection of beer and wine. While in Topanga, my wife and I came here for dinner with two other couples and we all had a great time. The ambience was relaxing, the food was great and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. All the food we ordered was very well prepared, so your best options are probably more so dependent on your mood. My wife and I split a beet salad, and also ordered several side dishes to share: grilled chicken, rice pilaf and fingerling potatoes. It was all delicious. However, the rest of our friends got burgers with truffle fries and gave them rave reviews! PRO TIP: Canyon Bistro is a great option if you're dining with someone who has dietary restrictions. Canyon Bistro serves many dishes that can be made gluten free, vegetarian or vegan. Living with various food intolerances myself, this is something I greatly appreciate!

Marisol C.

Yelp
We decided to try this place over the weekend as we were in the area and it had decent reviews. The service we received was great however the food was not great. Our calamari tasted like it was frozen and the dipping sauce was very salty. My burger had a very odd taste and I couldn't even finish half. My husbands steak came to the table and looked nothing like a steak. I thought it looked and tasted more like a pork chop than an almost $50 steak. This place was pricy and upcharged for everything. Their prices reflected more of an upscale West LA restaurant rather than a cute bistro tucked away in the hills. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because our server was really nice. The food we ate also gave us some sort of food poisoning as we were both sick shortly after eating here.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch! Great food and attentive, professional service. The Nicoise salad and truffle fries were highlights. We'll be back.

Yelp
Perfect expression of Topanga Canyon. Very relaxed easy going place with a higher quality of food than expected. Mussels and the broth with garlic bread were top notch. The house burger was terrific with sweet potato fries. Vegetarian risotto was very flavorful and not overcooked.

Kath R.

Yelp
Great place to grab really good food and listen to live music on a Friday night. Our group of four reserved a table on the patio. Service was very good. Friendly and attentive. The menu offers a wide variety of items to suit just about any appetite and price range. Burgers pasta and salads from $15. Fresh seafood and protein entree option from $25-$36. Starters from $14-$20. May try the short rib taco starter next time! Vegan and Veggie options too. We ordered the salmon which comes with two sides ($34 but worth it). Perfectly grilled. The garlic mashed potatoes is a winner. Good spinach too. Our friends ordered the halibut special that was prepared to perfection (a tad pricey at $42 but really good). Also the PEI Mussels entree with white wine and Dijon over pasta ($32). They raved about them. Have to say dipping the crusty bread in the sauce was nothing short of yummy. Also had a Mussels appetizer with terrific garlic bread ($18). The Bistro offers a small selection of desserts. We tried the cheesecake with a raspberry sauce ($14, very good). The crème brûlée is also quite good. $11. The live music was excellent! Fireside Acoustic Band rocked an awesome selection of tunes from the 70's. Eagles, Beatles, Queen, Jackson Browne and many more. The music started at 7 and ended at 9:30. Loved that there was no pressure from the restaurant to turn the table during the evening. Truly pleasant having a leisurely 3 hour dining adventure with good friends! Beer and wine available. Free parking too! We will definitely try the Bistro again...and hope to see Fireside at the Bistro or another venue soon too.

Yelp
1st time here. The burger is one of the best I have every had, and at 78 I've had a lot of burgers. The French Onion soup was incredible. I will be back

Yelp
They have a lovely staff - never off putting always welcoming, easy parking, food is very good. Comforting ambiance.

Yelp
Had a great dinner with my wife Hanon and listened to a 3 piece jazz band that was delightful.

Yelp
Haven't been along topanga strip mall in quite some time. Stopped off here for a drink and a little nibble. Not many place to chose from though. We had our dog with us, which they only had one table outside along the walkway that was utilize for dogs. But majority of the restaurant was patio seating and some inside. You would think, it's outside it should be ok. Beside that, we just stopped off something to nibble on. Had a drink and a burger. Overall, it was ok. Nothing major as we didn't really have much.

Yelp
Food, service and ambience all great, local place with a great vibe, and friendly people. Did I already mention the food is great too? Don't hesitate to go and enjoy this lovely place!

Yelp
Wonderful food and Desserts. The jazz music was amazing, famous special guest Jazz musician, Gregg Karukas and band performed. The service was great, wait staff were on it and so friendly. This is a place to experience.

Yelp
Delicious Calamari, it's so crispy!!! We come here often & it never disappoints, the batter is really nicely seasoned, lol they are addictive. They have a gluten free calamari option as well that's fab. The burgers are really good too, I usually get the BBQ one- Had the French onion soup for the first time here and it hit all the notes I was looking for, really really good! We also got the grilled artichoke, nice & fresh with a bomb & simple aioli. Then ended the meal with a churro & it was such a great meal. The service was great, everyone working here seems so friendly & nice. Really chill place too, 10/10 recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
Really nice and accomodating, and the food was great! And having the pation was definitely a plus.

Yelp
Back to the Canyon Bistro we went a few nights ago, as it is so convenient to meet up with my brother and his wife. And once again, we got these stupid, petty extra charges on our bill. The time before last we got billed extra because my sister in law asked for some hot water ($1.25 on the bill for the water, and $2.00 each for a bit of extra garlic on our pasta). The other night my husband and I had burgers (around $20 each which was pricey to begin with), and since we each asked for a slice (one slice) of onion, they added on $2.00 apiece. I have never had any place charge if you want a slice of onion on the burger. Yikes! I would rather they charge more for the food than do that. So ridiculous!

Yelp
Great dinner for a group of 8. Perfect for dinner before a play at the Will Geer Theater!

Yelp
Make reservations. Live music on Fridays! Nice selection of dishes, casual but lovely interior and exterior seating .

Yelp
Larry is the best! We're going to make this our weekly spot for dinner going forward. We loved the service, location and vibe. Highly recommend :)

Rachel A.

Yelp
I had lunch here yesterday which was really good. The salmon burger with sweet potato fries. I ordered dinner today which was the special, chicken Marsala over pasta. It wasn't good. It was watery and the chicken was dry. I also ordered a side of brussels sprouts with crumbled bacon. They had a burnt taste to them, and there was no other seasoning on them. In total it cost me $44 for this meal. I was very disappointed and I could probably have made this meal at home and better. The price is just outrageous for the quality of the food, so I'm forced to give three stars, although as I mentioned the lunch yesterday was very good.

Michael L.

Yelp
A fun place to eat in Topanga Canyon. Not fancy but the food is pretty good. Having lived in France, I can assure you that this is not a French restaurant. You can't go wrong with any of the burgers or the salads.

Yelp
Truly a tremendously funny and accommodating staff, delicious food, great parking, and you can't beat that view. Give Canyon Bistro in Topanga a visit today!

Yelp
Love the Rocky's chicken & PEI mussels. Either dine-in or pick up the bistro has options worth trying more than once.

John F.

Yelp
The food, service, and ambiance was terrific. I would like to go back for jazz on Friday night.

Yelp
Good food and customer service. Made sure table was available for the party. Ate the Happy Hour specials and service was quick even though the restaurant was full.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was good and the service was good. We really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. It's a smaller restaurant, but that makes it more cozy. We went to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered the artichoke appetizer and goat cheese salad to share. I ordered an amazing creamy ravioli dish. My hubby ordered the skirt steak with chimichuri and truffle fries. It was all so delicious. Dessert was a chocolate molten cake that was so delicious. We had a nice night. Great food, great ambience, great company.

Yelp
I do love this place for lunch but I am sad they don't allow dogs I came after a hike with my dog the other day and we could not have lunch because they have a sign "no dogs allowed on patio ". We ended up going to The Inn of the seventh Ray. They welcomed my dog with open arms. They are a much nicer restaurant, so I am not sure why the Canyon Bistro doesn't allow dogs at least on patio for lunch? There was only 2 tables taken. Plenty of room. Maybe if you allow dogs at lunch, business would be better. I give them 3 stars for the dog policy and because I don't like some of the changes on the dinner menu ( no fish tacos ! ) Otherwise food is good and service is good.
