The rotisserie chicken is good. The ice cream has huge portions and is very worth the price. The flavor, Moose Tracks, is special and tasty. Downside: it seems that the portions will be smaller if you take out instead of dine in; the price is the same though.

It's not the greatest food, but you are in a national park a long way away from any fresh food. We showed up right before lunch was over, and they still served us, which was cool. As i talked to the server, i asked him, "What are y'all gonna do with all the leftovers?" He said, "You don't wanna know. It really upsets me though". FYI, they throw all the food away to prepare for the next serving time. Literally, all the unsold food goes in the trash. The people that work there seasonally should get it, at the least, but no, gotta throw it away. So dumb. My first and last time eating here. Xanterra will get no more of my money!

So, you know going into Yellowstone that food is going to be scarce. The Canyon Eatery is a nice cafeteria-style option with different stations including a wok station, grill, and "slow". There's also a coffee bar and ice cream counter. There's also a lot of seating. The food wasn't bad, but options were limited. One night, they ran out of rotisserie chicken. The staff, mostly college-aged foreign exchange students, had no clue how to deal with the shortages. Additionally, the vegetable options were scarce and would change throughout the dinner service. I went up and got corn, my mom went up shortly thereafter, and was given zucchini. There was no choice- you got what they had. The only bright part was that there was refillable fountain beverages. Ice cream flavors were also limited & these flavors were the same throughout the park. I saw the same at the Yellowstone Inn. However, the scoops were generous & the ice cream was delicious.

We stayed at the canyon lodge and was looking for a good dinner option. Unfortunately, the canyon eatery was really the only option open after 7PM. We ended up eating there and chose the Asian options. I got the orange chicken and fried rice. It was terrible. The rice was watery like it had been over cooked a few hours before and had been left sitting out. The orange chicken would have been good but there was only 5 or 6 tiny pieces of chicken and a ton of peppers. The peppers made up 90% of the portion. I definitely would not eat here again for dinner. Even the lady serving the food noticed how bad the rice looked and apologized for it, but served it anyway lol. It was overpriced and terrible quality. Unfortunately, the next morning we were faced again with limited breakfast options so we ended up eating here again. Yet again, we regretted it. It was definitely better than dinner, but the quality you get at a Hampton inn’s free breakfast would have been significantly better. There was a ton of people eating there - we waited around 10 minutes before we got to the counter to be served. Even with the high turnover, the food was cold and the eggs looked and tasted like they had been cooked hours before. It felt like they knew there were no other options closer so they just served and charged what they wanted - there was no quality at all. I will definitely not go back in the future. The Yellowstone lake dining room isn’t too far away - you’ll pay around $10 extra per person for dinner but the food quality is 100x better. The only thing the canyon eatery has going for it is it’s a walkable distance from the canyon lodge.

I've eaten at many eateries hosted on Xanterra properties in National Parks. Typically I'll get a mediocre to decent experience across price points. I'll tolerate it due generally to proximity of lodgings. As many others have said, Canyon Eatery have a captive audience in those staying in the Canyon Lodge area. I had both a dinner and a breakfast here. Overall I had a bad experience across two visits, and will never be returning. First, all "hot" food items I had ranged from lukewarm to room temperature. For dinner I had the "wok" with fried rice and Korean beef. The rice was caked together, and the peppers to beef ratio was laughable. It was meh, but not terrible. I went back for breakfast the next day and had eggs, biscuits and gravy. The eggs were hard, congealed, and had a gristly texture in some parts. The biscuits were hockey puck hard, and the gravy was some kind of weird soupy consistency. I couldn't finish this meal, and just left. I thought of complaining, but almost every interaction I saw other customers have was one which indicated the ship's captain was AWOL. Low level workers with at best a couple months experience weren't able to satisfy various customer inquiries. Rather than waste my time I'll simply not give them more money, and post an appropriate review, which I am generally loathe to do.

Food is very basic. I loved the chicken roast. The Asian food was okay but too sweet for my taste. The breakfast options were good but the scrambled egg was pretty bad. I can understand that it is in the middle of Yellowstone but still there can make good food considering it is the only restaurant in the area. Not expecting fine dining type quality but in general just better quality food . Also the prices are very steep. There is also a bar in the area.

The food quality was very poor, with a bad taste. It's unacceptable that at 6:45 PM, they informed me that they had run out of two out of the three main dishes (trout and chicken). As a result, we had to switch lines and wait an additional 20 minutes to purchase shrimp tempura, which was also of inferior taste. They had to put a notice so people do not stand in the line.
