18 Stunning Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks Around the World
"A reservoir of the Missouri River, Canyon Ferry Lake is Montana's third-largest lake and, when frozen, an ideal place to skate. At 28 miles long, there's plenty of space to cruise on ice under a winter sky. This is wild ice, which means there are no rinks around renting skates and selling hot chocolate, so you should have a pair of ice skates and some experience in Nordic Skating before setting out." - Travel + Leisure Editors
My husband and I are feom Georgia and did some dispersed camping for 2 nights at Canyon Ferry Lake and it was absolutely beautiful. Its one.of our favorite spots now for dispersed camping as the have picnic tables and fire pits at each spot with plenty of spots to choose from. And there's not a bad spot in the place. Thank you Montana for offering this to visitors! We love Montana!!

Huge lake close to town. Northern end is prettier. Stays cold as ice all summer! Has many places to launch a boat and secluded beaches. For the best beaches, turn right at Yacht Basin (bottom of hill).

Out of the way lake, unless you are a local. Busy and pretty much full on weekends. We had a great view from C8, close to everything in the camp. Updated recreation area and amenities, the reason for the five stars. Sally, store host is a gem 🙂.

Boating, Wake boarding/skiing, just cruising, fishing for trout or walleye? Taking a dip on an uncrowded beach? Picnicking, camping? Canyon Ferry has it all. Plus clean and well maintained public facilities. The add two restaurant/bars, 3 Marina's and general stores. All surrounded by beautiful views. Easy access with proximity to Helena and Butte.
