10 Perfect Days in Big Sky Country

"Tonight, though, reenter society at the Canyon Village Soda Fountain in the General Store. Although the park’s more formal dining rooms poorly imitate fine cuisine, the soda fountain succeeds in capturing the friendly atmosphere and tasty comfort food of a ‘50s diner, and at a far better value."

Stopped into Canyon Fountain & Grill twice while visiting and staying at Canyon Village — great little diner-style spot right inside the park and general store. I actually loved sitting at the classic counter; it really adds to the experience. First night I had the chicken burger — a bit different with no sauce on the bun and salad on the side, but the fries were super fresh and the server was amazing, even gave me some great tips for exploring the area. Second visit I had chicken and chips — still good, but not quite as tasty as the first meal. Overall, a fun, casual option if you’re visiting and want that classic diner vibe with friendly staff.

Stopped in at Canyon Fountain & Grill while visiting Yellowstone and really enjoyed it. The food was great—simple, classic diner-style and exactly what we were looking for after a busy day exploring. The service was good too—staff were friendly and everything came out pretty quickly. The location is super convenient, and the retro diner vibe inside added a fun touch. It’s a cool little spot with a nostalgic feel, right in the heart of the park. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and craving a casual bite with character

This is one of the only decently rated places to eat in the Canyon Village area, so we wound up eating here a LOT. To go plates come with chips but the sandwich is still hot. Price is high, but that’s what you get with food in the parks. The pulled pork is excellent, the burger is good, and the chicken sandwich is dry but still pretty flavorful.

Came here after doing Seven Mile Hole. It was around 1pm on Thursday and there was decent crowd there already. I wanted to try something new so I got their Bison Burger. It was good!

Order, eat and go place. So you can explore the park and views again. Seating are side by side with other diners. Service staff was friendly but overworked, show some patience and appreciation. Could be crowded at times, plan your visit early or come later to avoid the crowd.

We stopped for lunch at the Canyon Fountain and Grill. We were seated promptly, and the server in our section was on top of things – he gave us menus, took our order, and got our food to us quickly. The quality of the food was adequate – not great but decent. It was pretty much what I expected from a fountain grill, and we enjoyed the experience. The General Store (in the same building) has an extensive collection of clothing, gifts, and even groceries. It is worth noting that the Canyon Fountain Grill (and the General Store) are managed by Delaware North, a different company than most of the food options in Yellowstone, which are managed by Xanterra. It felt like the staff here paid more attention to the customers, and the food was a grade better than we found in the other restaurants.

This is a functional option within the park, but it can get quite overcrowded during peak times, which affects the overall atmosphere. The food is decent—standard fare, nothing super special, but definitely satisfying enough for a full day of sightseeing. Considering the remote location within the National Park, the prices are reasonable. Expect a necessary, adequate park meal in a very busy, beautiful setting.

Google
5-stars for the fact that this place exists to serve food in the center of Yellowstone National Park, and has friendly service. The food is basic. But, let’s be honest, you don’t come here for a gourmet meal. You come because you want to stay in the Park enjoying the views and the experience. We enjoyed our burger and chicken sandwich. But they won’t be the best you’ve ever had, and I would never expect them too. Keep an eye on the hours as they can change depending on the season.
