Canyon Lakeview Resort

Location is very good. The cabins were located right next to each other for four families to stay. However, I would rate their customer service poorly as they didnt bother to rectify mutilple issues: - Heater not functioning and the whole house was cold. - Bedroom lights not functioning - Towels not enough and kitchen utensils were hardly adequate - Cabins were not cleaned thoroughly with cobwebs all over. Worst of all their customer service didnt bother to address any of the above issues even after multiple complaints. OVerall a very poor experience for the high price we paid for this resort. We will never come back again.

This place used to be much better. We usually go here every winter and and summer, this time we took our friends here and was a disappointment, we were there last weekend in Cabin B. The cabin looks like it needs some love, everything is old and coming apart, the floor is peeling off, showerheads very old and very low water pressure, window full of spiderwebs, some of the lights do not work, TV is not wifi compatible and only has local channels, kitchen does not even have basic stuff and I can go on and on. It hurt to see this place in such condition because we always enjoyed coming here. Hope the owner will take care of it.

Location is top notch, right near the lakeview. The rooms at the lodge are terrible as the bunk bed makes too much noise, sofa bed aren’t that comfortable. Air conditioning worked good. Some of the lights were not working, complained but there is no staff on site to repair. So be prepared to checkin around 4 PM and let someone know. At night there is very less lights near the wooden benches at the lodge so carry your own. The property is clean, and rooms had deer food as promised. Overall for the price the I would rate 3.5/5 due to the maintenance of the room.

Paid $360 for a cabin the pots and pans or filthy there was spiders. The curtain rod fell on me while I was taking a shower and the fireplace didn’t work. They left the hot tub off so we had to wait to use the hot tub. It was absolutely ridiculous. They refused to compensate anything this place must be in financial trouble if they can’t afford house, cleaners, and maintenance and bug spray. Oh and absolutely do not forget the fingerprints from Kids all over the windows and who knows what else spooge was there also look in the dishwasher. Well, we found mold in our ours for our stay so we had to hand wash everything.unpleasant b day stay a lot of work

Googles is not fair in only allowing me to leave one Review. I am staying here again and I'm leaving my last review at the end. The reason being.... consistency... Once again this place is beautiful, scenic, and still. It is relaxing. The room is immaculate!!! This place deserves more stars than it has, just as I'm sure Ashley deserves more pay than she gets!!!! Once again she was accommodating, wonderful to work with, and boisterous. I actually look forward to talking with her just as much as I do staying here. Left 5/15/2025 Ashley is the most AMAZING guest services representative I have ever encountered. Coming from someone who spent their career in a multi-national corporation and traveled extensively that says alot. After hotel after hotel they start to look the same... however the customer service exhibited here is definitly 5 star customer service. Thank you Ashley.

I rented a room at Canyon Lakeview Resort for our ladies weekend over Labor Day weekend, and I regret it. I wish I could get my money back. Especially for the price… Even for a holiday weekend, $250 a day was incredibly overpriced. This felt like a bait and switch, even with our calls to the front desk. Some of the biggest issues were fire hazards and safety issues. We had outlets with no faceplates. Two lights in the unit didn’t work. Our porch ceiling fan was missing a blade but didn’t work anyway. Also, the stove burners were wrapped in tinfoil, which seemed very sketchy.. Again, not what we expected for a $250 a night resort. Lastly, the two double stacked dorm fridges would either freeze the food or not keep it refrigerated, so we threw out all of the food because we did not trust that it was still safe to eat. The pool was green and one of us came out of the pool and stirred up clumps of algae. I was surprised that the pool was not cared for, especially during the summer in Texas. The front desk said that the pool was safe to swim in but it was cloudy. No, the pool was gross. Shortly after arriving, we realized that our “Sleeps 6” room only had 3 sets of towels and we were also short on tableware, too. There wasn’t much at all for being a “full kitchen “. We had to have another friend bring some of these items from their house. When someone advertises that the room would have deer feed, you would think it would be there. It was not. There was maintenance and cleanliness issues: The handle on the shower was missing No dish soap, dish clothes, dish drainer, paper towels or a second roll of toilet paper The floors were absolutely filthy Again, two nights for $500 and they can’t even provide extra toilet paper? We happened to be outside and saw a worker and asked if we could get the paper product. They did bring a paper towel roll and some toilet paper. On top of all of that, there were neighbors that were so loud that even several other people complained. We weren’t even able to sit on the porch with the broken ceiling fan because they were so loud. The only thing that the resort did was to send out a text message to all guests saying to be quiet. We responded to the text that it was still extremely loud past midnight. They responded that had talked to them. It still took another 45 minutes before it was quiet enough to fall asleep.

Dirty sheets, room next to us had a mattress comforter we did not. Three forks, no paper towels, refrigerator ruined our $200 worth of food. Grills were not usable due to not being cleaned, pool was slimy and green. Will not come back People next to us playing loud music and kids crying and no respect for anyone around them. Totally not a full kitchen or as clean or nice as advertised on the website

The service before arrival was amazing! The location awesome. However, we would not stay here again for the price we paid of $600 per night. We stayed in the lake view cabin C. Place was dirty upon arrival, unswept floors, dirty carpets, sinks, old furniture and just overall a poorly maintained property. No dishsoup or handsoap provided. The pool was disgusting! Actually walked on algae! This place just needs good houskeeping, simple maintenance and attention to details and it would be amazing! So much potential but they need to reduce the price or put a little more time and effort in to make it worth the money they charge!

Great place for a 2-3 day retreat. Dog-friendly (on leash required). The customer service responds quickly, and check-in/check-out are smooth and easy. This year's water level is historically low (since the 1960s), so direct swimming access to the water is nearly impossible. Boat ramp closed. However, the view is still spectacular. We also appreciate the grill spots -- we saw previous complaints about the grills -- honestly, we don't quite understand why they are being so picky with the public grill spots lol... I can tell they have tried their best to manage/clean. A/C works well, especially at night! Not much noise created. All the fire pits were upgraded and well-maintained. Some things to be careful with: 1/ Some weeds in the grass can be sticky and painful to pick off. Be careful walking in grass near the cabins (wear water shoes). 2/ Some dogs may be reactive to people/other dogs (barking). But everyone was very respectful. 3/ Didn't try the swimming pool; it looks a little muddy. 4/ Coffee station not working well. We noticed from others' reviews and brought our own coffee boiling pot with pour makers. They also didn't provide milk/coffee mate. 5/ Pillows are not quite comfortable.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since my first stay at Canyon Lakeview Resort. Instead of a group of 40, we were about 24 adults, a few kiddos, and a handful of furbabies. And just like last time, it was a great stay. I'm not sure if I noticed their amenities last time or if they added on facilities in the last decade, but a few things to know: o There is a giant, we're talking massive swimming pool that's 3"5 deep all the way around. As a shawty, I appreciate that. There's plenty of seating, pergolas for much-needed shade. No restrooms at the pool. o Volleyball court o A main lodge area/event space, perfect for family reunions and such. o There's a "motel" also onsite. o It's dog-friendly, with a max of two dogs per cabin and a $25 deposit per pet per night. o Amazing sunsets, direct lake access for swimming or boating, grilling areas, and "The Point" which is a great spot for a nightcap and handing with friends/family. As for the cabins, once again our group reserved five of their six cabins that each come equipped with two decks overlooking Canyon Lake, a hot tub, multiple bedrooms, living spaces, fireplaces, full kitchens.... Note that some cabins may have a studio-style room with no wall. Our AC was kickin' and there was plenty of hot and cold water. Only gripe is the living room seating in our cabin, Cabin F. The chairs stunk like BO. My guess is that guest sit on them with wet river clothes... hope they steam them.

Very disappointed upon arrival. The pool is a disgusting cloudy green. Our cabins AC consists of 2 window units. No towels in any of the bathrooms. Broken fridge. Broken dishwasher. Lots of cobwebs in the floor corners. Streets and walkways are not lit up. Lots of broken lights in the cabins. The price is ridiculously priced for the lack of amenities. We were told that maintenance people live on site but they blew us off about the pool and said it's safe to swim.

BEWARE! I booked a room to stay for 2 nights because the website boasts beautiful photos of lake front swimming and we were prepared to spend three days swimming in the lake. The lodge cabin we were in was very nice, but there is no beach or swimming due to low lake levels. Also the swimming pool was being shocked when we got there and needed to sit for 24 hours before allowing swimmers in. We opted to play volleyball, but no balls were provided. Four hours after our arrival we asked to leave and be refunded or at least be given a discount. We booked through hotels.com, who also tried the first night to reach management to give us a refund. No apologies, explanations or refund, or even amending the misleading website were given by the Lakeview Resort. The location is wonderful with wildlife and woods, but was not what we had signed up for.

The property is in need of attention. The pool is absolutely disgusting. It was lime green with foam floating on top of the water. When management was asked about it, they said we could swim in it. I completely understand that they have no control over the lack of water in the lake, however, people coming from out of town don't know this and having an unusable pool was a total let down. We spent a lot of money on several rooms and feel like we were ripped off because this property is in no way a "resort". We had to pack up our swimming gear, drive 20 minutes to Comal Park, and pay $20 each day to get into the park so we could get in the water. The grass on the property was extremely high but after it was reported, someone came to cut it. In our room, the stopper in the bathroom sink was glued down. We had to have some come address it because water would not drain. In the cabin my aunt was staying in, the ceiling fan fell from the ceiling. Lucky for them, no one was hurt. The oven in my cousin's room didn't work. The air conditioner in my other cousin's room went out. It was a series of problems throughout the weekend. There is no office or staff onsite. Don't waste your money here. Stay at the Holiday Inn Resort on the other side of the lake if you're looking for something in this area.

Stayed for a weekend. As of 8/27/23, the lake is 17 feet low. There was no easy swimming, paddle boarding, or kayaking from the resort. There is a steep rock face you can climb down to access the water if you are daring. We drove to a local beach to swim. There was no hot water in our unit for showers, the sinks, or the dishwasher. Either the shower or toilet upstairs leaks water and drips on anyone standing at kitchen sink. The unit had many cobwebs, so we called and asked for spot cleaning. Someone found a leftover toothbrush and toothpaste in a bed stand, so the cleaning isn't very thorough. The pool was closed for maintenance. It was neat to hand feed the friendly deer. If I were going to visit Canyon Lake again while it is this low, and if I wanted to swim, I would look for an Airbnb near Canyon Park.

I was asked to delete this review by the new owners. It was explained to me in an email that Canyon Lakeview Resort is under new owners and new management. "The property and guest rooms have gone through extensive renovations this year." "As of May 2023, the property will have a brand new ballroom, retreat center, general store and new lobby space. " I'm not deleting my original post as I have not been to the resort to know if what I was emailed is true. But I'm giving them the benefit to prove they are telling the truth by sharing this update that was emailed to me by the resort.

Excellent place to stay!!! Super clean, beautiful surroundings, amazing deer, and the best part--pet friendly! We, and our pup, enjoyed every part of our stay.

The property itself was beautiful and perfect location next to the lake. However, we had no towels at all upon arrival and water dripping from the ceiling in the kitchen the entire stay. Maintenance was there trying to repair it for most of the time, but the property refused to give us any type of refund for the inconvenience. As nice as the location is, I would definitely not recommend anyone staying here!

Where do I start? The resort wasn't very informative on checking in. We didn't receive a pamphlet with the lay out, directions to our cabin, what the amenities or take did not take our vehicle information. Just a verbal code to the cabin. We stayed in cabin F which sleeps 12 Saturday night. Comes with one king size bed, four full size bed, and pull out sofa bed. The beds all sank and the pillows were didn't hold any volume. The cabin did smell clean but the vents, air filter, ceilings, ceiling fans, corners were very dusty. Kitchen lights, top back room lights, different plugs didn't work. The basic amenities such as soap, coffee, can opener and a full set of cups were nonexistent. The back patio had food crumbs on the picnic table and floor. Not all the jets in the hot tub work and the step to enter was not high enough for someone elderly or may have a physical disability. The reason why I'm pointing out all these items is for the amount we paid, it did not meet our expectations. The reason for the two stars is the view of the lake from the second floor patio no matter what time of the day!

This was an absolutely delightful experience. The staff were outstanding helping us with everything. There's some construction going on which we couldn't hear from our room. But it has me looking forward to another visit.

Not worth the money. The hike to the water is about 8 minutes and pretty steep. No shade near the water and its very rocky. The views are beautiful but the room left way too much to be desired. The carpet was so torn up the bedroom door couldn't be closed so we tried to close the curtains but they were falling apart, stained and broken. The refrigerator was broken and leaking inside which soaked our pizza so we couldn't eat it (gross), 1 light bulb was out in the tiny dark bathroom and the hall light didn't work at all, the toaster didn't work, and the "plastic" couch had holes in it. We would not recommend this place. Not for almost $200 a night.

We checked out Canyon Lakeview Resort for a weekend getaway. While the resort is in Canyon Lake, New Braunfels is super close. After driving down some residential roads, you come to the resort. Our cabin was pretty cool. It was basically an apartment with a living room area (with a TV), kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom area. Not super fancy but had that rustic, cabin feel. We got in pretty late but the weather was perfect. Outside our cabin, there's a long patio that you share with other cabins. There are some swings so we sat out on the patio and relaxed. Being from Houston, it was pretty cool to actually be able to see stars in the sky with clarity. Not as easy to do in Houston. We ventured off during the day so we didn't spend much time on the property but the time we did is a highlight. There are a bunch of deer that hang out in the grassy area next to the patio. They give you some deer food in your room so you can go out and feed the deer! It was such a cool experience. The deer will eat right out of your hand! They're truly beautiful creatures. It's a memory we will never forget! During the reservation process, management was friendly. We had no issues whatsoever. A great spot for a relaxing weekend!

What a great escape! Our room was very clean and inviting. Property is relaxing, peaceful, incredible view of lake. Deers greet you upon arrival feeding steps away from cabin. We were upstairs, kitchenette, bed very comfortable. No complaints. We would definitely stay with Canyon Lake Resorts again. We purchased from Groupon, very pleased with experience. Thank you! Wine tasting was good, too!

Just returned from a fabulous long weekend at Canyon Lakeview Resort. Two of us stayed in the downstairs lodge suite and there was plenty of room. The suite is a little strange in the sense that there is no tv in the bedroom, only in the kitchen, and there is a couch/murphy bed in the kitchen area that stands up-right if not used. The shared porch area was lovely, overlooked the water and attracted the friendly deer that will literally eat out of your hand. It was too cold to swim, but there is a swim area designated for the property that looks great for warmer weather. We will definitely be returning with friends so we can stay in the Cathedral cabins that looked really fun (with a hot tub)! There are BBQ pits and fire pits everywhere, as well as a peacock exhibit. So many great aspects of our stay... The location is close to River Road (a fun drive down to New Braunfels), and multiple vineyards! There is a full kitchen, bunk beds, and tons of pillows. The staff (Micky) sent us text messages with recommendations for local areas. Overall, it was a peaceful and great experience!

Beautiful loved everything about this place!!! Going back soon and can't wait! We stayed at the lodge suite and my family got a cabin. Views from both spots were amazing. I only had one bathing suit for my boys and the staff was so sweet and helped my dry the bathing suits. The are is spacious and the beach is sooo beautiful. Definitely recommend.

Have a nice sweaty vacation. Called to tell them that our AC was out the day we arrived. They changed the disgusting air filter(during covid) and said they would check the unit. Next day same thing they said it was because our unit was facing the sun........ 80 degrees now at 9pm. Thanks holiday inn

What a beautiful and amazing place! I stumbled on this lovely getaway location after browsing on Livingsocial and saw that they had a deal, and there were pictures of people feeding deer. I mean how often do you get to feed a deer? Upon arriving here my first thoughts were "is this a motel?" and "where the heck do I even park?" because the exterior resembled a motel and they didn't have a designated parking lot (except for this little sign that said "guest parking" hung on a fence). The upstairs room had a beautiful view of the lake and attached with a wooden swing and table on the porch. The interior resembled a hotel room with a country flair; simple wooden furniture, tacky fabric and outdated appliances, accommodated with a living room area, kitchen area, bathroom and private bedroom. However, the room felt homey because of the arrangement and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessities (utensils, paper towels, plates, pots/pans, dishwasher pods, BBQ tools, etc.). The only things you probably need to bring are napkins, clothing detergent and an iron. Not sure why but they didn't have an iron in the closet even though they had other appliances like coffee pot, fridge, dishwasher, etc. But the staff is extremely nice and accommodating if you need anything (ex: iron) and you can contact them directly via text and get a prompt response. They will also send a text with the lock code for your room so you won't need to check in. Check out is also painless because you can just text them to let them know that you are leaving. Even my booking was easy because Jackie was so helpful and answered all my questions. Now for the good part! Every morning they place a deer feed bag on the table on the porch so you can feed the deer. The deer usually gather in front during morning and early afternoon, and they are usually just wandering around the camp area. Word of caution, they looove the feed! They're also super friendly, but some can be a little skittish. There are fire pits and grills scattered throughout the area that are perfect for smores and BBQ. The peacocks/peahens (security birds) were also a delight! On the side of the group cabins you can also walk down to the lake and walk to a small cliff overlooking the lake. Swimming is not allowed, but there are a few marinas nearby with boat and jet ski rentals.I booked my stay for early April and the weather was a little chilly at the time so we didn't get to try the pool next to the parking area. So sorry for the super long review, but I just wanted to share my knowledge and experience so everyone can have a wonderful time on their first time here. The only downfall of this place is the drive here is really long from neighboring cities like New Braunfels and San Marcos. You also have to drive into a big neighborhood to get the the resort, which is located all the way inside. But once you get here, you'll love the view, the breeze, the deer, and just almost everything else. I assume that it will be busier during the summer, but I plan to come back here with a big group and hopefully enjoy the hot tubs in the cabins.

Love love love! I've stayed here many times and only once did it seem like it hadn't been as clean but it was when Covid hit so maybe nobody had stayed for a while. Other than that it's always been beautiful and my husband and I love comming here and love how they have deer and provide deer food each day for you

Nice place for a weekend getaway. Grounds are nice and clean, but a little outdated. Overall peaceful and the deer have been the highlight of our stay so far. They're socialized and come up to the porches for food daily. They have four gorgeous peacock security Birds. Great photo ops and view over the lake.

Misrepresentation is the best word to describe this place. It is not a resort, it is a glorified campground that is under construction. Upon arrival, we had to walk through a party of people in the yard to get to our unit. There was no ice machine or person on the premises. When the party went loudly through late hours of the night into the wee hours of the morning, I texted the number that sent me instructions on how to get into our unit at 10:30 to let them know that the party was getting louder and they said no music is allowed after 10:00. The pool was too murky to swim in. The rocky beach is a joke - its not a beach, just come steep rocks to descend to get into a small point of access in the water, which was clogged up with another party when we arrived, so we couldn't access the water from the "resort." Not only that, to get to the steep rocks, you have to walk through other people's areas and disturb them, as if you are in a campground. The A/C condensate line dripped right into the bathtub. If you had wanted to take a bath (gross, dirty bathtub), you would have had to have condensate fall right into your bath. Instead, if fell on my head while I took a shower and bent over to pick up the soap. I could hear the people above me snoring during the night. The "fully stocked kitchen" would better be described as a barely stocked kitchen. 2 small wineglasses and 3 coffee cups as well as a 5 wet plates and some wet bowls isn't what I consider fully stocked. The drip coffee maker makes one cup at a time if you bring your own filters, which we had to go buy because we didn't realize we were going to a campground. There is not even a luggage rack to put your suitcase on in the bedroom, not to mention that there isn't any chest of drawers or place to store your clothes while there. We set our suitcase on the floor of the closet and used a flashlight to sort through it because there isn't a light in the closet. The bedside table, which is actually a dorm sized refrigerator, is a complete admission that the "fully stocked kitchen" refrigerator isn't anywhere near large enough to store even your basic stuff. There is one rack in the bathroom to hang your towel on with 2 more small hooks on the floor of the bathroom closet that were improperly installed and apparently fell off when someone else was there. Pro Tip: Put shelving in the bathroom closet for clothes storage or at least a place to be able to put toiletries. I had to store my toiletries on the closet floor of the bathroom. Pro Tip: Add Clean Doors and Baseboards to the cleaning list so that you don't have construction dust buildup inside the place. And, the water pressure is so bad - you need to really hold down the flush to make sure that the toilet empties. It was full when we arrived with who knows who's last pee. The faucet on the sink moves when you turn it on and off. This place really has some nerve to charge more than $60 a night since they are basically inferior to Motel 6 and Crane's Mill Campground costs $30 a night. Do yourself a favor - stay somewhere else.

I feel totally refreshed and relaxed after our trip to this resort over the weekend. December weather in Texas can be a bit unpredictable, but we lucked out and got perfect weather. The winter is the slow season for them and rates are a bit cheaper during these months. My bf bought a Groupon or Living Social which included a two night weekend stay in the lodge and a non-reserve tasting at the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards located about 20 minutes away. There is no real check-in. You're emailed a code and when you arrive you just unlock the door and walk right in. The lodge definitely wasn't full when we visited and when we arrived it seemed like we were the only people there. We were able to open a bottle of champagne, sit in the porch swing and enjoy watching the stars. I highly recommend the upstairs lodge rooms over the downstairs because the view of the lake is great. As for the accommodations, the lodge rooms are essentially a small, one bedroom apartment. There is a couch and at TV that we never turned on. There are plates, utensils, cups, and wine glasses in each room in the fully furnished kitchen. The bedroom had a comfy king bed with options for fluffiness of pillow. Everything was clean and pretty basic. My only complaint would be that the walls are quite thin. It was a non-issue for us because our neighbors were quiet, but I could see how inconsiderate neighbors might negatively affect the experience. We walked down to the lake and explored. We even happened to catch a holiday boat parade the weekend of our stay. My boyfriend was obsessed with feeding the deer. There is deer food on top of the fridge and they left additional food on the patio tables on Saturday morning. There is also a cage of peacocks. Our stay was short, so we only left to go to the winery and out to dinner for Italian at Gennaro's about 10 minutes up the road. If you're looking for a no frills kind of relaxing getaway, I highly recommend this place. We fully intend to return next year.

Comal Cabin: Three bedrooms is a stretch since the "master" with the King size bed is completely open to the rest of the downstairs with NO privacy at all. The two upstairs rooms are open at the top so you can hear everything that is happening in each room which provides little privacy. The ceilings were very dusty with giant spider webs, the downstairs couch was very old and hard to get out of. The pool was not filled when we were there so that was an amenity that was no accessible to us. We purchased a groupon that was supposed to include wine tastings, but they were not in the groupon which was frustrating. I would not pay full price for this location.

For Christmas, our daughter gifted us a 2 night lodge stay here. We had to book it during the week, so it was relatively quiet. Not many other guests, and that was fine with us. We upgraded to a cabin, which was very spacious. The customer service was EXCELLENT. Very accommodating, courteous, and friendly. A nearby grocery store had everything that we needed to host a small getaway. I would definitely recommend the cabin - balcony views, hot tub, secluded area, walk to lake, private bbq area, provided much needed serenity. We certainly will go back with a few family members.

We found a Groupon for this cozy resort right on the lake and were quite pleased with our stay. We stayed in a lodge which offers a cabin with a living room, kitchen, full bathroom and separate bedroom. Just off the cabin's front door is the patio that includes a table with chairs and a porch swing, which overlooks the lake where you can watch the sun come up. The water is just a short walk down the hill and is super clear. It's a rocky area so, be sure to have water shoes on! We went in the winter and were still able to enjoy some of the amenities, one of which, was being able to hand feed deer! They are so sweet and just come right up to you and eat right out of your hand. (Mgmt leaves deer food in all of the cabins) Additionally, we took advantage of the propane grill where we cooked up some delicious steaks and the fire pit, where we made smores. I can see how this place would be fun in the summer. They offer a sand volleyball court and a swimming pool as well. The only thing I think needs some improvement is the cabins themselves. They are very dated and not the cleanest. Other than that, we had a good time.

Twice is nice! We have visited twice in the past few months. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and we like the keyless entry into the rooms. The first time we stayed in an upstairs lodge suite. and the second time in a downstairs lodge suite. The upstairs suite sleeps up to 4 people and has more living space than the downstairs suite. Both were nice, but we prefer the upstairs suite because it is just my husband and myself. The view is also better from the upstairs suites. This place is great for nature lovers!

A perfect get away place with friends and family. The copper roof private cabin was beautifully designed. It reminded me of inside of Noah's Ark. Walls and ceilings were lined with pine and smelt great. There are two levels, and both levels have decks extended out to see the lake view. The cabin was huge and sleep up to 12 people. We had a really fun New Year celebration there. The cabin has the best view of the lake. It came with a giant hot tub, full size kitchen, 2 bathrooms (downstairs and upstairs), three bedrooms plus one additional bed that can be pulled out in the living for more people. There were lots of deer and they were not shy of people. They ate straight from my hand. The cabin provided deer feed. The resort also has three peacocks. They were more shy compared with the deer. Very easy access to the water. It was a nice and easy hike around the lake. Next time I would take some fishing gear.

Hubs and I spent an amazing weekend at Canyon Lakeview Resort. When we arrived, (very late at night), we had no issues parking or getting checked in (code lock on door) and we were very pleasantly surprised to find our cozy, well-stocked suite. And a super comfy bed. We woke up to a beautiful view of the lake the next morning, and deer waiting to say hello! They provide you with deer food which is so thought and feeding them was fantastic. We spent the day enjoying the view with our dogs (yes they don't discriminate against good dog owners!), enjoying the grounds, going for a swim, and resting on the porch. That night we built a campfire, cooked dinner on a open fire and roasted marshmallows. We did some star gazing (you could see star 'as clear as day'), went for an evening stroll to enjoy the breeze and then to bed in our comfy bed. We were sad to leave the next day...so we are already booking our next visit! Canyon Lake and New Braunfels is a popular destination for locals and tourists, especially in summer season. It is thoroughly as enjoyable, if not more so, on the off seasons. And to entice you, they offer great promotions through Groupon, Living Social, Amazon Local. You and the deer, surely won't regret it.

Great weekend get away, clean rooms and good amenities. We stayed in the lodge and enjoyed hanging at the pool. We also took our boat out with easy access to the public boat ramps. I would recommend using ramp #6 if you have a larger boat as ramp number #7 beside the resort needs some work and is a little shallow and #6 is only 5 min away. If your looking for a kid friendly relaxing stay on the water this is your place. We will be coming back in the future.

Where shall I begin? Management called us a few hrs before our arrival informing us that our room with a king size bed on the upper level of the lodge would not be available due to maintenance, the only options being offered was a queen size bed downstairs or free rescheduling. Rescheduling was not an option just hours away from arriving. Arrangements to be away from work and a getting house sitter were already in place, as we were well on our way to the lodge. After arriving to the lodge it was disappointing to see the layout out the room. It had multiple beds, and one queen size bed. The only tv in the room was in the living room. The room with a king size comes with a tv in the room. The kitchen was small, there was a coffee maker with filters but no coffee. There was also a small green outdated and uncomfortable couch that was very small and low to the ground. Very uncomfortable to sit and relax and watch tv. It was nice to see deer up close and having the ability to feed them with complimentary feed was a nice experience. The lake was beautiful, but getting there was a little difficult because you had to walk between other cabins, that was uncomfortable. When returning from our walk we noticed the people next to our room were on the deck with two dogs, even though the agreement stated no pets. When we slept on the queen bed, bed sunk in on one side. Overall, the place was peaceful and I loved feeding the deer but I do not think we will be returning as we were a bit disappointed.

We stayed in one of the cathedral cabins (cabin A). We are a family with two adults and three kids ages 18 months to 9 years old. PROS The area is lovely and it was nice to walk down to the gorgeous lake. Cabin A is off by itself so you have plenty of privacy. The whole family loved feeding the deer and were very impressed with the lake views from the decks. The cabin itself is fully stocked with pots/plates etc. There is even a dishwasher so you don't have to spend a lot of time washing dishes on vacation. The entire cabin was very clean and the fridge was spotless inside. CONS Our cabin had a weird layout with the "master" just being a king bed right when you enter the cabin. There is no privacy for that bed. If you are sharing the cabin with more than one family I would suggest getting one of the cabins that has a private master. The sofa in the living room (which is very small) was laughably bad. When you sat on the side you sank into the middle and could barely get up. The bed linens also need a little updating. Our sheets were so thin you could almost see through them and the king pillows had standard pillowcases on them so the end of the pillow wasn't covered. We were given the option to have a fire in the fire place and this was an additional $25 charge. I thought it was nice to have but that seemed pretty pricey and could have been included given the cost of the cabin. Overall, I was very happy with our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Nice getaway, not far from home. The deer will eat out of your hand! My daughter loved it. Watching the lake from the patio while the lightning lit up the sky was beautiful!

A great place if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Mostly we were here in the evening after going to explore the area. We stayed in the main building which had a great view of the property and the lake. The room was very clean and welcoming. I was really surprised at how spacious it was. Staff there was very friendly and offered any help that we needed. I loved the sink and thought of it as its own work of art. The trail to the lake was full of things to see and hear. My friend and I were able to have a nice bbq with the grill they provided and then relax and enjoy some wine and good conversation outside on the patio as we watched the deer get fed by the people in the room below. I wish the pool had been ready when we went but I'm sure it will make a great addition once it is completed. Thank you also to the peacocks for making me laugh every time they sounded their warning. :)

We had a wonderful, relaxing, romantic weekend in one of the private cabins. Beautiful scenery! The pictures are exactly what the cabin looks like and is well equipped with "everything" you need. We loved the look and feel of the cabin especially with the surrounding wood walls and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. There are two balconies with amazing views of the lake and the lower one with the hot tub, patio table and chairs. We loved having our morning coffee on the decks, watching the sunrise. The hot tub was perfect! The swimming cove was very nice. The deer came right up to us and ate out of our hands. (food supplied by resort) We had a wonderful time and are already planning to stay next year. I would highly recommend this resort...one of the best romantic getaways but definitely big enough for a group.

Had an absolute great time at Canyon Lakeview Resort. Beautiful scenery, clean lodging and great location. Little confusing to get to but worth the travel. We are already planning another trip with the whole family to check out one of the private cabins.

Great for a weekend getaway with the family! The resort being an arms reach away from the lake is a great plus!The only gripe we had was that the WiFi that was provided was not working (which wasn't a big deal but when you bring a bunch of kids with tablets and IPads that need it, can make things a bit hectic!) and the fire alarm went off during the middle of the night and somehow set off the other cabins alarm and made for a rude awakening. But other than that great place to stay definitely recommend!

I had to rewrite a review! First of all I need to say that the customer service at this resort is great! The people who work here take good care of you through the whole process of taking your reservation all the way down to the day you check out. I am extremely satisfied with our whole stay. This was my first time up to Canyon Lake. I really didn't know what to expect. The drive up was awesome. It was basically in the middle of nowhere. The resort looked lovely as we drove up. Our room was BIG! Wasn't what I was expecting at all. It included a full kitchen, pretty decently sized bathroom, two closets, two flat screen TVs, a couch, and the most amazing bed with amazing pillows! The pillows were so comfy that I went home and bought my own set. The deer experience was quiet cool! There was a plastic tub of our own deer food in the room. When feeding the deer they would come right up to your hand. If you aren't looking to stay in the Canyon Lake area, the drive to both Austin and San Antonio isn't bad what so ever! This place was great and I'm hoping there will be another Livingsocial deal! I am planning on coming back someday soon!

I bought a livingsocial deal for this place for a one night stay in the lodge (not the cathedral style cabins) + a wine tasting at Dry Comal Creek and it was a great experience. The lodge was quiet, with really nice furnishings. We didn't even have to check in anywhere. We were just given a code to punch at the door to unlock our room. As far as the room goes, it was like a one bedroom apartment. There was a living room, kitchen area, small dining table, bathroom, and bedroom. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice and spacious with a really cool bathroom sink. There was also a fully furnished kitchen inside, so be sure to bring food (everything you will need to cook like oil, seasoning, food, etc.) to cook. Utensils, plates, etc are all there. There is even a propane grill outside for you to use with some swinging chairs in between each room. There were other people staying in the rooms next to us, but we couldn't hear them. Sound proofing was great and it made the trip even more romantic and private-feeling. At different times of the day, deer will come to the front part of the lodge. We saw a group of up to 20 deer at one point. There is a canister of dry deer pellets on top of the fridge to feed them with and you can either feed them from the second floor of the porch or go down to the grass to feed them. The deer are already used to these feedings, but they are still wild animals so I would exercise caution. We actually saw one lady feeding the deer from her hands! The only bad thing about Canyon Lakeview Resort is when we went, there wasn't much to do around the lodging without driving across the lake. When we went, the pool wasn't finished yet and there were few trails to go hiking on. There was, however, a cage of peacocks nearby that was not as spectacular as it sounded. Overall, it's a great place to stay and I would recommend it to friends who are looking for a quiet, relaxing trip.

This is our second stay at this lovely resort. This time we got the upstairs room and have an unbelieveably open view of Canyon Lake. Our cabin is warm and cozy. My only issue is the couch attached to the Murphy bed--not too comfortable. Other than that, the deer, the view, and the ability to launch your boat right there adds up to a great stay.

"Rustic" or thrift store decor in Comal cabin. Odd that it sleeps 10 but only has living room seating (1 couch) for 3. Dining table for 8. Although most people probably go in summer and don't spend much time in a cabin. They have invested in superb beds! Feeding deer was fun for 4 year old niece. Weird trailer next to cabin F which must have been construction workers sleep arrangement. Called on duty customer service who sounded surprised when we told her it was right out our balcony.

OUTSTANDING RESORT. Towels are soft. Please was remolded not too long ago and the knotty pine ceilings and nice wood trim out does this place righteous. Even the patio wood is well maintained. The patio set up makes it easy and friendly to talk to other guest, The area is wonderful and the deer are everywhere, like squirrels but a ton more everywhere. The lake water is over the top. I can not say enough good about the people running this place. I LOOKED AT ALL THE other website around and will only return to this resort. MY CHOICE! IT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE. fyi, 50 yrs old with 2 teenage boys, they petted the deer most of the time!

We just came back from 3 days at this lovely resort. It couldn't have been any better! We stayed in one of the Comal cabins. It was sparkling clean and nicely furnished. There were 5 adults, and plenty of room. We loved feeding the deer! Some would eat right out of your hand. The private hot tub was wonderful and we took full advantage. We also did the wine tasting at nearby Dry Comal Creek Winery and really enjoyed that. Management was very accommodating and we truly enjoyed our time there. We will be back!

My husband and I came here to celebrate my birthday without our children, and we had a fabulous time. Our view was amazing, and our room was perfect. We could not believe the amount of deer, and really enjoyed hand feeding them. We used the grill our first night and made some steaks. The weather was perfect, and we really enjoyed drinking some wine on the porch swing. We also got see baby raccoon. We slept so good, and were able to take a great hike the next morning along the river. We headed to a winery that afternoon, and found an amazing Italian restaurant for dinner. All in all it was the perfect weekend. We will definitely be coming back!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the resort over the weekened and it was a very nice time. The rooms are very well kept. This place is a great get away nice facilities and pool. We would defintly come back.

This resort was amazing. It is so quiet, clean and beautiful...I didn't want to go home!! The room was nice, everything was in working condition, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. We did not have any issues with bugs/ mosquitoes which I was shocked about. I did need to call for a housekeeping request and it was handled immediately. The lake is so clean, it doesn't even smell "fishy" like lakes sometimes do. The best thing of course is the deer that come up to you to be fed. They are so beautiful and will eat right out of your hand. Will definitely be back.

My family and extended family stayed here for Easter weekend this year. I absolutely loved it! Their customer service is great! Ryane helped me make my decision by providing a lot of information prior to my even telling them I would make a reservation with them. She was very quick to answer all of my emails and answer all of my questions. When I finally told her I wanted to reserve a cabin, it was quick- she asked for my cc number, processed the payment and we were in the cabin 2 weeks later. You don't necessarilly need to "check in". They provide you a text with a code to unlock the door. FOr checking out, you just need to sign some documents stating you understand and will adhere to their policies and leave it in a binder when you leave. Pros: -The cabin was big enough to accommodate my family of 10. Each "family" unit stayed in 1 bedroom (3 bedrooms). -One of the upstairs bedrooms has a balcony with a beautiful view of the lake and a porch swing. It was perfect for sipping a glass of wine at night and watching the stars. -There are a lot of deer around the facility that you could feed out of your hand and they provide a big bag of deer food every morning. -Each cabin is stocked with basic cooking pots & pans, dishes, glasses, coffee make, coffee cups, utensils, etc. -There is a downstairs balcony with a hot tub and a patio table and chairs. - There is a propane grill for each cabin and they provide the propane. - Each cabin has a designated fire pit. (Super fun!!) - They have access to the lake for swimming (a swim cove) that is actually quite clear and deep enough to swim without hurting your feet on the rocks. I experienced a lot of "wounds" while staying at a cabin at The Frio River once, so it was nice to not have this problem this year. -They are pet friendly and do not charge over the top fees for bringing your furry kids on vacation with you. Cons: - When we got there, there was no salt in the kitchen, which they say they provide so even though we bought a ton of groceries for the weekend, we didn't buy that. They did however, bring us a new salt shaker full of salt the next morning. -We ran out of propane within 15 minutes of grilling on the first night so we had to use the neighbor's, whom had not yet checked in, grill. They did come the very next morning and refilled our own tank so that was good. -The beds are not very comfortable and pretty stiff. I felt that for the amount of money we paid, perhaps they could afford to invest in more comfortable mattresses? - The decoration is pretty outdated. I paid the same amount last year for a cabin at a different resort and that one was extremely luxurious. They just need a little bit of a re-do and they would be a PERFECT place to stay! - The hot tub didn't ever get hotter than 93 degrees. It felt more like we were in a warm bath tub, but it was still fun nonetheless. I'm sure if we had called to inform them of this, they'd have fixed that too. -Wifi was very slow, but well, its free. Overall, I really enjoyed our time there and only wish the weather would have been nicer and sunnier to enjoy the river more than just one day. The resort itself was very welcoming and provided a great experience!! I will definitely be coming back!

My mom and I recently vacationed here and were blown away. The scenery is just like the resort's pictures but even better (and that rarely happens). The cabins were spacious and beautifully created and most importantly equipped with everything you needed and then some such as plates, towels, utensils, coffee pot, and deer food of course. There were so many deer that it was unbeleivable and they were more than happy to see the visitors. They laid around the resort and on the front lawn all day and night, but were very approachable and even ate out of our hands and let us pet them. The views are amazing and sitting out on the deck was one of the most memorable moments. The lake is just a short walk 5-10mins and they just finished building a new swimming pool area with a volleyball court as well. Even more amazing is that the owners are soooo nice and helpful, they even let us tour the larger cabins and they were absolutely magnificent!!! Flat screen tvs, hot tubs, huge fireplace, spacious kitchen area for family style dinner, and porches on the top and bottom floor. I can't say enough about this place and their wonderful staff. If your touring the Hill Country, Texas Wineries, or just want a break this is definitely the place to go to. Everyone is friendly, you'll have everything you need and plenty of natural scenery to take in and enjoy.

My husband and I stayed in the main lodge. When you first arrive, parking is on the rear and the entry way and stairs to the lodge are around the corner. Parking is sparse and if you have a heavy cooler, it can be cumbersome walking up the stairs...especially when you are greeted by a skunk. Not only were we target practice for "Flower" but we also had some pretty close encounters with racoons. When we walked in we expected a "resort" feel but we walked into what I could call similar to a La Quinta Inn. A few minutes after arriving, my eyes began to itch, my allergies flared up and my asthma was non stop. I called the after hours number to find out if a cat had stayed in the room (to which I am allergic) and I was told that cats were not allowed on the property. Funny, considering the racoons and skunk that we were greeted with at the top of the stairs were feeding on the cat food left in cat food bowls on the deck with a clearly marked pitcher of water "For cats only." The decor was less than desirable and the sofa/Murphy bed was a green pleather sofa covered in green duct tape to hide the slashes and cigarette holes. However, the room was large and had an open layout. The kitchen was stocked with plates, cups, wine glasses, silverware and a coffee maker...minus the coffee. The bedroom was clean and the bed was soft and warm. In the evening we crawled into bed and wanted to watch tv but we were upset to find that most channels were just a bunch of snow. But, I guess we could have forgone tv in the first place since we were on vacation. The bathtub did not drain well either. In fact, it was like my ankles were taking a bath. I'll rant on. The walls were VERY thin. I heard some things that I wish I had not. Our neighbors were loud, stayed up very late and played their music way too loud into 1am. We shared a deck with the entire floor so don't expect privacy. We also got more than we bargained for when the LOUD party of bikers staying in the lower cabins decided to stay up all night screaming obscenities and revving up their bikes. The management gives each cabin some deer food to feed the many deer that live nearby. I'll admit, it was rather impressive to have a deer actually eat from my hands. I loved the views from the cliffs and the lake was pretty and blue. We walked around for a bit and enjoyed the landscape. I'd say that is one of the only things we enjoyed about the resort. Town is very interesting. My husband and I ate at Startz Cafe and got many strange looks from the locals. In fact, we were just plain stared at the entire meal. I'm all about people watching but that was a bit much. The second evening we ventured down the road to the Hideout. It is a smoky hole in the wall with a lot of "friendly" locals that also have a staring issue. We made ourselves at home and eventually we were welcomed. I guess they were just curious as to what us "city folk" were doing in their neck of the woods. Nothing a little alcohol couldn't cure. The prices at the cafes and bars nearby are all very good. We ate at the little Mexican place down the road and each meal ranged from $5.00-$8.00. Another pro: Gruene is nearby and it is chalk full of shopping, wine, beer and country music (at the Gruene Hall). There is a little winery down the road about 15 minutes and it had some friendly and very knowledgeable employees. The pours are amble and the wine was decent. So, all in all. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay near Gruene...go for it. If you are looking for a romantic, private get-away...forget it.

A great getaway from the city that's still local! The lodge suites are like one bedroom apartments with a living space, full kitchen (stocked), private bathroom, and bedroom with king bed. All you need to bring is food, personal items, water toys and water shoes for the swim cove off the lake (rocky bottom), and games/activities! There's not a lot to do at the actual resort (other than feed dozens of deer, walk, BBQ, and swim), but there's a marina up the road where you can rent watercraft like jetskiis (so much fun!), and the dry comal winery (fabulous tasting and tour!) is close by too! They have a pool and volleyball area but it's not finished yet, which was disappointing! It's really nice that the kitchens are stocked with cooking and eating utensils, including dishwasher and soap. There are a few local restaurants near by, but mist are about a 10 min drive. There is no restaurant at the resort itself, so bring food to cook!! They also provide deer food to feed the dozens of local deer. The resort also has 3 resident peacocks and a cat! There are multiple grills (but we could only get 2 to light unfortunately) and a few fire pits by the cabins. Overall, it's been a great place to spend the weekend away, especially with the livingsocial coupon which made it half off! I don't think we'd come back if we had to pay full price (approx $150/night), but we'd definitely come back with another coupon!!! Canyon Lake is beautiful and very clean and well-kept!
