This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Dirty…bathroom with pink/black mold. Dirty, outdated wobbly furniture. No dresser or true nightstand. One trash can which was tiny. The rooms were hot after getting back from touring the park. This I expected and can make it work. What is not ok is that you have to leave your first floor room windows open all night with the furniture rearranged to be able to have the cheap fan near it to cool the room. No privacy. The lack of a simple dresser was ridiculous in a hotel room we stayed in for four nights. Four hangers provided in the hanging space. No access to coffee in the mornings is absolutely ridiculous for a $400 a night hotel. The cheap coffee pods were awful and no creamer. Take a hint from Vail Resorts. They know how to do it. The saving grace was the location in the park. It was great! Food choices in the park are a joke except for the Grant Village Lake Dining Room. The cafeteria style food was not good at any restaurants. We opted for the M66 Bar for two meals. At least we had service and a cocktail. We loved our trip to Yellowstone. Canyon Lodge was the only low point.

This was our first trip to Yellowstone. We really lucked out to book a cabin in the Canyon area. Everything you could need was a short walk away in the Canyon Village, but once back in our cabin, it was remote and secluded. We walked out of our door and found the beautiful trail down to the North Rim! It was so perfect and we loved exploring the North Rim without having to fight the traffic. We were traveling with 2 dogs and this location was perfect! There were several beautiful paved trails around the area that allowed dogs and the dogs had the time of their lives! The staff was fantastic. Everyone was super helpful. The cabin was really clean, really comfortable, and had plenty of room for us to spread out and relax. We can't wait to go back and explore during a different season.

We were so glad we booked Canyon Lodge for our visit to Yellowstone! It saved us tons of time and traffic to be in the park and to be so centrally located. We stayed in a porch room in the Moran lodge that looked out on a pretty forest of trees, so even when we got home from our day of adventures, we could still enjoy viewing nature and being outdoors. The prices are high but with in-park lodging so limited, it’s worth it to us to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime vacation. The staff was very helpful and the Wake up to Wildlife tour picked us right up at the lodge and was so totally worth it! The only complaint is the food - not very many nutritious options. Lots of fast food type places but they did offer grab and go options like yogurts, fruit, etc.

The deluxe family rooms in the new lodge were adequate for a family of 4 with two queen beds that were in good condition. The mini fridge was working well during our stay. Our floor and i hear all of them had an ice maker which came handy for our ice cooler for the trips to yellowstone every day. Location of canyon lodge is as close to central in the park, and has a nearby grocery store(yes prices are badly inflated but this is true of the entire park and bread at $9 a loaf was cheaper by a buck than the Tower junction grocer!) and gas station and cafeteria. For vegetarians this was probably the best place for average food. Also there were choices vs some of the other lodges that had a sit down only restaurant with mediocre menus. Place looked safe to me and well lit. Cleaning crew were good and rooms serviced (you may need to request it though) daily. Among the lodges we stayed this was the best. On the negative side, prices are high. At times the new family deluxe room was over $600/night! So search for nights which are better priced before booking your flights especially if you book closer to the trip (booking opens over a year earlier and cancellation is free till 30 days before trip.. which also means some rooms open up around the 30 day mark). Overall a good visit albeit expensive.

Thrilled with our stay. Amazing and attentive service. Spacious room in a perfect location for spending by the day exploring the park. Tons of room for our family (suite), balcony was lovely, and the welcome snacks were a nice touch. Shower was good and hot. We were in the Moran building, and believe it is the best location of all the lodges. Even had a bison visit one afternoon. :) For the price point, would like to see better in-room amenities (coffee not good; should have a microwave in the room). Bed linens were meh (scratchy and thin). COFFEE DRINKERS: The room comes with the low end pot that only brews the hotel discs. We brought our own mini drip maker & grounds. So glad we did. If you have a small Keurig or pot, highly suggest bringing yours.

Canyon Lodge was a perfect, central location in the middle of the park. Had last minute availability which was a nice surprise as we had not planned months ahead like most. Rooms were updated, clean, comfortable, had a coffee maker, no AC but fan. All staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Great place to stay inside Yellowstone! We will stay there again!

Our stay at Canyon Lodge had some challenges. The check-in felt rushed, and finding parking was difficult—we had to park far from our building, which was uncomfortable in the cold (28°F), and locating our car the next morning was tricky. We stayed in a double queen room, which felt a bit compact for a family with a baby, so we probably wouldn’t choose it again. We had requested a baby pack-and-play, which was provided, but it didn’t have the usual pad most hotels supply. The front desk sent a thicker mat, but our baby had a hard time sleeping at night, so it’s better to bring a portable pad or prepare an alternative. The Wi-Fi was down for our entire two-day stay, and there was no mobile network, making communication difficult. The property has a canteen for food, though it’s a 3–4 minute drive from the lodge. Despite these issues, the lodge’s location is great for enjoying Yellowstone National Park.

Our family stayed at this hotel for four nights. The room was fine, and we were looking for a basic place to rest after hiking in the national park. On the first night, the room was tidied up professionally when we returned. However, on the second night, the room was not cleaned, and we ran out of tissues and clean towels. We had been asked during check-in if we wanted housekeeping service, and we said yes. When I called the front desk to request housekeeping and supplies, the staff told me I needed to request it specifically. I explained that we had already been asked about housekeeping during check-in and had said yes. The staff didn't clarify if I needed to request it every day. On the second day day, when I returned to the room at night, it hadn't been cleaned. I called the front desk again. The staff asked me if I request that service or not. I told the staff that I had already requested it the previous day. It was so weird. I didn't ask them to tidy up the room but I only asked them to send up tissues and towels. It was disappointing and frustrating. On the next day, when I came back to the room at 1 pm, it wasn't tidy again. So, I called the front desk again, and they told me the same thing - that I needed to request housekeeping service. I explained to them that I had already done so. Then, I asked them to tidy up the room after 2 pm. Later, when I came back to the room at 7 pm, the room was tidy, but they hadn't refilled the toilet tissues. It was frustrating because I discovered this after using the toilet. Also, no refill on your tea corner. Overall, the inconsistent housekeeping service was frustrating, and clearer communication about the policy would have improved our stay.

Yelp
Ever want to experience a tiny living space but pay top dollar? How about searching for a parking space somewhere remotely close to your room? Enjoy hearing your mate in the bathroom while you're in the bed about 3ft away? If you stay here, all these dreams and more will come true. If you're looking for bland food that reminds you of your 6th grade science camp, you'll find it at the restaurants on premises. If you think it's a hop, skip and jump away from your room, you'll be sad bc it's not. The only food that was worth the $ was the ice cream. If you're a planner, I'd recommend getting a cheap cooler, buying some cheap bread and bologna. That sandwich will be 100 percent better than the food being prepared at the restaurant.

Yelp
We stayed in early October so the rates were not to bad. Much better than summer time. It was cool outside at night so just opening the window cooled the room down well. Check in was easy and quick. We did have limited food options because most things close down the first week in October. The WiFi was good in the Washburn lodge so we watched Netflix with the kids. The rooms are like a standard hotel room with 2 queen beds. Parking was great, again because of the lateness of the year. Saw a sign after we checked in that said to ask to upgrade to an unsold room. So ask if you stay later in the year. Might not consider this if we had paid $400.00 per night.

Yelp
The location could not be better. The lodge is expensive, like a Disney Hotel. They didn't do standard hotel housekeeping: collect our trash, bring fresh towels when we put the used ones in the tub, make the beds. We found ourselves stopping by the front desk to seek these things to be handled in the evening after a busy day of touring. I didn't love how they run the place.

Libby J.

Yelp
We were disappointed with the hotel's service. We paid $500 a night for no cleaning service. The one time they came was mid way thru at 8 am and they wouldn't come back later. Book in advance and stay at Lake Yellowstone or Old Faithful.

Yelp
So I have to say this place is pretty cool and simple. The rooms were clean and staff was supper great. No TV but got wifi (make sure and keep you splash page open to keep the connection on) just keep the login page open and open new browsing in another tab. All of the staff was so nice and sweet but there was one staff member that stood out Emily provided excellent service. Thank you to everyone there... my family had a blast *Warning * When we arrived to Yellowstone, we found out that the entire park don't have cell service for t-mobile. I recommend that while you have cell service, you need to enable wifi calling and roaming.

Yelp
I planned my visit to Yellowstone very last minute...like the week before so my options were limited for staying inside the park. Only Canyon Lodge was available when I went. I stayed two nights here and checking in was easy and i was given a map to where my room was located. I was a little surprised that I was told there was no wifi, but only in the lobby and Canyon Lodge cafeteria. It would be so much easier for guests to have some sort of small store in their lodge rather than driving to get dinner down the street; in the dark and risk loosing your parking space (depending on how booked it is for that night). It really doesn't make sense. So really bring your own snacks and such if you want to avoid going there. I stayed in a two-queen room and it was quite comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the sink was located on the outside. There are no hangers here so don't forget to pack them along. (I really don't get this). Since there's no hangers, it's no surprise to know there is no iron either. There is no microwave, but there's a refrigerator...which is kind of pointless because it is 24 degrees in the morning and your vehicle acts as its own refrigerator. The biggest peeve about this place is there is no TV!! It would be nice to come back after a day of being outdoors and relaxing to some TV. With the price that you pay you'd expect some basic amenities like hangers and a TV. I came when it was cold so air wasn't needed. Not that there is an air conditioning unit, but a fan. So keep that in mind if you are staying here in the summer time. If i could avoid this place I would, but it's in the park and that is there they get you. _________________________ The food down the street was okay. There are options for chow mein or American food. I'm all for the bison chili which come with tater tots. For condiments, ask for the spicy ketchup and spicy mayo. Delicious. The Asian food was surprisingly really good. You can pass on the coffee here, it's not good. Of course, if you're in a pinch then you're stuck. There are seats outside, but lights are lacking. Also, remember there is wifi in this location. There's a gift shop next to the cafeteria which is great for souvenirs. There's a store a few doors from the plaza which has some groceries and some souvenirs which is open from 9am-6pm everyday. This doesn't make sense to me either. They're literally open when people are enjoying the park.

Yelp
Pros: Very new and clean, it's inside the park, centrally located, nice bathroom, quality towels and sheets, small refrigerator in room, restaurant, cafe and general store within walking distance, a short trail to the Canyon and Lookouts, the staff were very nice and patient. Cons: Expensive $504.20 per night ($441 room + 13.23 utility + 31.80 lodging tax + 18.17 sales tax)! Very unreliable WiFi service (down 75% of the time), WiFi is only in the Washburn bldg., no microwave in the rooms, cafe closes at 5:00 p.m., only one restaurant open after 5:00 p.m. (long lines). This was the most I've ever paid for a room in my life!

Yelp
I was really excited to stay here because of its location. Which was great near the Canyon, even hiking distance. Checking was a lot of confusion for the staff, because we had a pet, all rooms were booked, the receptionist had to call a manager. They finally found a room for us. After getting our keys and headed to our cabin, which is not close to the lobby it was still not clean. So we go back to the front desk and let them know. We had to wait another 30 minute. When we finally were able to go to our room, the cabin itself was ok, no wifi, no tv, beds were ok. But for one night it was doable and easy to explore sights near by. Also restaurants and amenities are not located in the main lobby. Also limited times opening.

Denise F.

Yelp
Very disappointing for the price we paid. Description of Lodge says there is a restaurant on premises, however it was not operational while we were there. Only food offered was a soup bar for $10. per person and it was not appetizing. There were no other restaurants in the park that were open. Luckily we had snacks with us and ate that in the room. The room itself was nice, but sheets were very uncomfortable and rough. No WiFi, no TV, no coffeemaker and the cell service was spotty at best. I would not recommend staying here unless you can self sustain.
google avatar

Patti T.

Yelp
This front desk clerk was very rude. 99% of TSA agents are friendlier and more welcoming. Our rooms was LEEDS certified however it was freezing cold and the three lights did nothing to illuminate the room. I called the desk for a couple of extra blankets but no one answered so I walked through the fog and sleet to the lobby of the main lodge and requested blankets. It took an hour for them to arrive. (delivered by a very nice bellman/housekeeping person) The toilet ran when flushed until you jiggled the handle just so. There was hair in the bathtub and the room refrigerator was warm and had an unpleasant odor. All of this for over $400.00 a night. I have stayed in Yellowstone Park all my life and have never had an experience like this. Canyon Lodge is a never again for me.

Yelp
Get's one star for location. No WiFi. No Tv. The shower is almost as big as a shower in a RV. Really. Such a disappointment. Paid for a hotel and basically got a dorm room. Wish I would have done my research. Next time I will stay in Garner, Montana in a real hotel for less money.

Yelp
Location within Yellowstone was great! I'd recommend based on location. The pillows, although huge and full, were so uncomfortable so i whipped out "my pillow' that I took and loved it. The air wasn't working so I just opened the windows at night. I believe this is the modern lodge. No wifi, even though they say there is wifi in the lobby. but it had a frig (with a bright-a** blue light that we had to cover with a towel). We enjoyed the keurig to make hot water or coffee. I would not opt for a patio (never used it and without a screen would be eaten by mosquitoes). At the eatery be aware that there is no 'to go' food. but I'd recommend the ice cream. You can even get a 1/2 1/2 single serving which is HUGE. As we traveled throughout Yellowstone I do believe this location is the best, followed by Old Faithful.

Yelp
What a disappointment . $475 for a "superior room " with no wi fi, no tv, no microwave, no view no balcony , not even clothes hangers .no amenities. Ten minute walk to the only restaurant. No air conditioning . I know it's covid 19 and all , it how about in room coffee? No breakfast included , no ice machine . Really?; if you are visiting Yellowstone look into rooming options outside the park or prepare to pay through the Nose for a bed and shower only .
google avatar

Kelli J.

Yelp
If you want overpriced basic rooms with no WiFi, no TV, no coffee maker then this is the place! The dining options are a joke and everything is spaced so far apart. There are no amenities in the building. You have to walk about.5 mile to get anything. It's overpriced and you get literally NOTHING except an uncomfortable bed for the night. Also, we made reservations by phone and asked for a roll away bed, to which they replied"no problem ". When we arrived the girl at the front said "we don't offer any type of roll away bed, ever". We ended up having to fork out 1000.00 extra bucks for 2 nights to get another room. This was so annoying considering how lack luster the rooms and amenities were. Don't stay here unless you're just desperate. Seriously.

Yelp
I stayed at the Dunraven lodge which is next to Canyon lodge. I knew when I booked that this place has no internet or air-conditioning or TV so I won't complain about it. In a way I loved that it gave me a chance to disconnect and be with the nature while I am at the park. It was perfect. The room was spacious, the decor was wooded and rusty. I loved the large window looking out to the forest. It was nice to sit on the window sill, sip a cup of tea and watch the woods. It was pretty hot inside but they do provide fans inside the rooms and it cooled up the room quickly. Check-in was fast and quick, there is a key dropbox to checkout easily. It is very close to the grand canyon viewing area and Hayden valley.

Alan R.

Yelp
Horrible experience! Bed was awful. Pillows awful! And tiny! Room size was prison cell size! Bath was next to headboard of bed! Shower stall was as small as you could imagine! Ok and please read all the fine print when you book! I didn't! Rooms have no AC, internet or tv's. Service sucks as we asked for extra pillows and they blessed us with one! Do yourself a huge favor do not book here!you have been warned. We paid 240 for this prison cell. Even if they paid me I would never stay here!
google avatar

Edward R.

Yelp
Terrible design. Parking too tight, not close to doors. Can't drive up close. Small rooms with 1 small window. No view. No microwave. No a/c. Heater barely works. No WiFi. No tv. No pool. No food in building. Have to walk a few blocks to a cafeteria. Just a bad design. Paid 300 for 1 lousy night. Would never go back. Whomever approved this design should be fired.

Laura D.

Yelp
We stayed at the Cabin room here, and it was just awful. The screens didn't fit to the windows, so our room had mosquitos in it upon check-in. It was tiny, had no refrigerator and no safe (in contrast, the cabin at Old Faithful Snow Lodge had both and was $100 cheaper per night). The housekeeping people didn't make our room after we opted out of their choice to skip housekeeping, and since there are no phones and no service, we had to go all the way back to the main lobby to request housekeeping for actually come to our room at 4:30 pm. When they did come, they put the fitted sheet only halfway down the beds, so we had to remake them ourselves when we discovered the problem right before going to sleep. It was a terrible visit!

Cyndi T.

Yelp
Stayed in the Chittenden lodge in a standard queen room. No tv or wi fi which was OK. No trash can just a recycle center. Nothing to stir coffee with. The shower was very small - ok only for people who are medium build! Strange there is only 1 nightstand there was room for it.. the rooms have a sliding door for the bathroom which you can hear other rooms sliding them. The bathroom is so close to the bed it's awkward! There is no fan in the bathroom so the walls have drip lines all the way down. Pretty expensive for what you get.
google avatar

Elfie C.

Yelp
We stayed in Moran Lodge which is one of the ones just built. Very nice and clean. We had a 2 queen room which was a standard size for our family of 4. Fridge and Fan. No A/C needed even during August as it cools down a lot at night. Water filtration fillip + ice which was nice to get our water bottles filled up. No wifi or TV (which we knew) and cell service was basically non existent. Wifi would have been a nice addition to at least plan days/online maps...

Frederick L.

Yelp
Xanterra has failed their 2017 Canyon Lodge opening. The dining room failed fire inspection and is not open,  the wi-fi isn't up, the rooms are not fully finished, and our patio is filthy. We  do have a room but it's rough around the edges. Dining requires a 30 minute trip to Yellowstone or settling for a basic grill down the road. And the Watt stopper requires a room key before lights work and means you're likely the lock yourself out.. Yes, it's Yellowstone and rough edges could be expected in a rustic cabin. However for over $200  we expect more. Xanterra jf you're reading this please make the cafe complimentary or offer credit toward purchases, provide the bison and bottle, at no charge until the restaurant opens, and remove the save a watt. With save a watt you insert room key for lights forget it on the way out and lock yourself out. I predict endless lock out calls.

Amy S.

Yelp
Very clean, nice room. It is expensive for no tv, no AC, and spotty wi-fi. Just prepare yourself that you are paying a lot to have a nice place to stay in the park.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
It is was it is. Very rustic and NO amenities at all. If you ok with ruffing it a little and having no TV or wifi than this is the place for you. A little updating wouldn't hurt though, but it serves its purpose. The cabins remind me of the ones from the old "Friday the 13th" movies.

Yelp
I spent two days in early October at the lodge and in spite of it being brand new, I left sorely dissatisfied. It's a great location, right by the canyon village with the various buildings arranged in an arc. However I found the rooms too small, not well arranged and the room cleaning very slow. On one of the days, I had to call multiple times since it wasn't even cleaned by 5pm which is unacceptable in my book. Hope they can get their act together and save a great location!!
google avatar

Larry S.

Yelp
Facilities are nice but ....There is simply no excuse for rude reception staff, no cell phone signals, paying for crap internet and bizarre yet also ghastly food service .. $300 a night! We are prisoners through trapped in a popular park so gutting it out.
google avatar

Coco L.

Yelp
Don't go!! It is expensive and the room service sucks! For almost 300 per night... You will get no clean towels everyday and no proper made beds.

K H.

Yelp
This is luxury hotel prices for econo level amenities. WiFi only available in lobby . Entered bare basic room ( our "superior" queen) to find 4 undersized pillows on the beds (smaller than standard pillows) Went to request pillows from front desk but no phone in room due to COVID. No cell service here either (at least not Verizon) So you better hope you don't have an emergency since the hotel removed your only way to call for help. No in room coffee machine due to COVID (who knew K-cups transmitted virus) No extra blankets due to COVID. No housekeeping due to COVID. (Which seems standard) No tv. No AC (though it's cold here at night, even in July ) No USB ports for charging which is pretty standard for most hotels these days especially one that is only 5 years old. The only good thing is location. Yellowstone is so big, being inside the park is a huge plus. Just don't let these prices fool you into thinking you are getting any extra amenities. Unfortunately Xanterra is the only show in town if you want to stay in the parks so they have no incentive to provide amenities or service. For $475 a night. You are getting a bed and a bathroom. Thats it. If you want a nicer room with amenities and save money, stay outside the park.

Tony P.

Yelp
Horrible service! We paid for a room with a porch and they decided to tell us when we got there we couldn't have it due to it being a social gathering spot because of coronavirus????? We are all family staying in the same room using the same bathroom how does a porch make COVID worse?!?! The food is literal cafeteria food from your local school and the closest restaurant is 15 miles away. The service has been just very disappointing. We had to go to the front desk to ask for more towels because there is no way of actually reaching them through a phone unless you have 20 minutes to kill. The views are amazing but the canyon lodge itself is a disgrace. Do not recommend.

Joe C.

Yelp
I forgot the name of the lodge I stayed in, but the first digit of the room number was 7. It was the first lodge on the left off that forced right turn. They said I was the first person in this room, and it definitely had that "new room smell." I was the only one in this room, a single queen bed. Like what others posted, it's very basic (they do supply towels, cheap hair dryer, washcloths, liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, bed linens, so not THAT basic). It's perfect for one person, if you're staying with another person, you better be emotionally close to that person, because you're going to be physically close for the time you're in the room. Indeed, no TV or radio (a digital alarm clock is in there), but c'mon, let's be real....are you going to Yellowstone to watch TV? The sign in the room said there was wi-fi for purchase, but my iPad could not detect any signal. Though, a Verizon signal barely crept into the room. There were many power outlets, about a dozen of them, so your electronic devices will be happy. The beefs: it's a very small room, so every inch counts. A portion of the ceiling is slanted, rendering about 1/5th of the room as useless space. I was about halfway down the hall from the ice and soda machines, even further from the elevator (and its chime). Both were annoying. And as much as I like I talking to people, I don't like hearing about how people liked their dinner. The rooms are not sound-proofed very well....so if you have a conversation in the hallway, it better something you're willing to say in front of everyone. The room-to-room noise is about average. This is located in a very central place within the park.

Ted S.

Yelp
Staying at the canyon lodge Yellowstone park. Brand new Hayden wing. There are 5-6 new lodges that have been built. Rooms are new and clean. Parking is good.rooms have NO WIFI, lots of PCS correct stuff, no garbage cans in room they built a recycle center for you to toss stuff at! Light system will only work if your entry key card is inserted in a receptacle. So if someone goes to get something out of the car the lights go out. Bathrooms are nice. No TV. No grand entryway or large open area to enjoy a fire or sit with friends. This is a get er done hotel. Pack em in and pack em out. No landscaping or walking paths. Oh did I mention no WIFI Comrade So three stars.
google avatar

Karthik R.

Yelp
Very basic amenities. You wouldn't want to stay in a room if you are in yellowstone. I would rather backpack and enjoy nature than wasting $120 bucks a night. Probably the first and last time i'm getting a cabin.
