I loved this place. While relatively a bit more expensive than other hostels, it's definitely worth the price. The upstairs lounge area is beautiful. The showers are clean with individual stalls. The overall vibes are really great and, when exiting the front door, turn left to visit the neighbouring bakery for breakfast buns.

Beds are comfy and atmosphere is excellent. Additionally location is superb. However, I was surprisingly disappointed with the service. First, they do not provide any full body towels for rent- only face towels (so make sure to bring your own or you’ll have to find a store to buy one!). Secondly, they do not advertise that the female only dorm has 20+ people in one room. Third of all, I was doing work in the common area/lobby and at 10 pm the receptionist shut off all the lights. When I asked if I could keep a light on and turn it off before I left to go to bed, the receptionist said no. It did not make me feel comfortable and while I understand there are rules, it was at the expense of a guest which is not only bad customer service but also really strange to watch a guest struggle to read and work with no lights.

This hostel is an excellent place to stay, everything is lovely, the library-ish atmosphere, the location, the staff. I loved the coffee-machine matcha latte!

Great place. But front desk staff is slow to check in guests. It took over 30-40 minutes of waiting to finally get checked in. They are understaffed and not able to check in people more than one at a time. At one point, there was an hour wait for people at the back of the check in line. Everything else was great. Beds are comfortable, sheets and blankets are soft and clean. There were two guys having a conversation in the sleeping area at 11:30 pm. That’s not the hostel’s fault.

This hostel is converted from a second hand bookstore. The interiors are amazing. Parts of the building look like a library. Other parts look like a private library mixed with beds. ||Check in was relatively simple and the staff went through the procedure of describing the hostel and all the facilities. There are two types of beds. One is a private dorm with fewer beds and the other in open space. I stayed in one of the smaller dorms but I wish I stayed in open space because it looked so much more awesome. The beds were arranged capsule style with a privacy curtain at the end of the bed. There was a private light, an electrical point and a USB port. The mattress was firm asian style, but comfortable. ||Each floor had separate boys and girls bathrooms. I was on the second floor. The bathroom there had three toilets and three shower cubicles. The toilets had Japanese style automated geysers. The bathrooms were super clean throughout my stay as were the grounds of the hostel.||The reception was on the ground floor, where there was also a common area designed to look like a library. This was a super cool area to sit.||Overall, I had a super stay. The staff are nice and friendly who are ready to help with anything. The location is close to all the main attractions in the city and about a 20 minutes walk to Tainan Station, although there’s buses that stop close by from the station anyway.

This hostel was absolutely amazing: decor, service, beds, cleanliness, noise-level. Everything was just perfect! Since the weather was extremely hot on one of the days, I spent an afternoon in the common area leisurely reading the many books available. The common areas are very conducive to quiet reading, writing and reflecting. There's also free coffee and tea. One book in particular caught my attention: the novel "Castle" by Kafka. I wanted to purchase it and asked the owner how much it costs. To my surprise, she gifted it to me for free! I had a wonderful stay at the Cao Ji Book Inn and will definitely return the next time I'm in Tainan.

Definitely one of the best hostels I have been to so far! Super lovely staff who helped me with things and were able to accommodate my requests. Comfortable beds and well equipped rooms as well as common area. Great vibe with lots of art and of course books throughout the entire building. The only thing I could complain about is that the windows in the room are easily moved by any wind which makes some noise but thank god they also provide you with ear plugs. I can definitely recommend this place, thank you!

This was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. The owner was very nice and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and it was in a fantastic location. I also loved that the hostel had two computers in the common area. I had a lot of work to do during my stay here so it was nice to be able to stay at the hostel and not go to an Internet cafe to be productive. The hostel only had a few guests while I was there, but I was still able to make a travel buddy to hang out with and eat with. 10/10, would definitely stay here again.
