7 Hangover Foods From Around the World - AFAR

"A well-known Porto venue frequently cited among the city’s go-to places to order a francesinha, the hearty, meat-and-cheese–packed sandwich drowned in sauce and topped with egg." - Ashlea Halpern

Walked in at 330...they close at 4..server seemed VERY annoyed and slammed utensils on our table and kept ignoring me when I would talk to him. So service was lacking. We got Prego em Pao ( steak sandwich) fries and wine. Added Francesinha sauce to dip my fries and Prego into. The sauce was lackluster...bland...so I definitely wouldn't get a Francesinha here because if the sauce isn't good.whats the point. The steak was bland and overcooked. Somehow the bread wasn't good either. The wine was lovely. It was a large restaurant with plenty of seating. It really felt like a tourist trap. Save your money and check out the other Francesinha and Prego em pao places in my other reviews that ARE very good.

Good food, fair prices. Very family oriented venue. Service was kind but very slow, over 40 minutes to bring the plates. Needs some music for ambiance, it was all loud talk form everyone. Bottom line, would recommend because it's a good meal, but place has no mojo (maybe because it doesn't want to)

A lot of hype about the Francesinhas. It was very tasty and unique but everyone at our table weren't raving about having to have another one any time soon. The beer and wine we had was incredible and a few in our party had the margarita pizza. All in all the food and atmosphere were great.

This place was recommended to me because of the Francesinhas and it didn‘t disappoint!! The food is very delicious and there are many different variants of Francesinhas. They even offer a mini Francesinha. The food also came very quick and the prices were fair! The waiter was also very friendly! Would definitely come back and would recommend!!

I’ve been to Capa Negra II twice, and both visits were fantastic! The food was consistently delicious, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. On my second visit, one of the toasts had undercooked meat, but the waiter noticed it immediately and handled it very professionally – they didn’t charge me for it, which I really appreciated. Exceptional service and great food – definitely a place worth returning to!

Well... First time having Francesinha in Porto, and what better place to try it! Capa negra was advised by friends, we didn't think twice, the restaurant is huge! Fresh fish available, a massive freezer with fresh meat for you to choose.. this francesinha is big and has a lot of layers so if you eat tiny portions then ask for half or share with someone.

Capa Negra II in Campo Alegre is a classic Porto institution, known especially for its francesinha and late-night atmosphere. The place is lively and often busy, with a steady mix of regulars and people just passing through. The food is straightforward and comforting, with portions that satisfy without fuss. Service is quick and efficient, even when the room is full. It’s not about fine dining or refinement here, but about tradition, habit, and the familiar taste of a place that has been part of the city for years. A reliable stop when you want a true, old-school Porto experience. But my recent experience was disappointing. We waited over an hour and a half for our francesinhas while watching several tables who arrived later being served before us. The issue seemed to come from the staff competing over tables and orders, rather than working together. In the end, we had only eaten a few rissóis and had some beers, and after protesting, we left without paying. It was not about the money, but about the lack of organisation and fairness. I hope it was an isolated situation, because this used to be a reliable old-school stop for a true Porto experience.

I had an amazing time enjoying a traditional Portuguese meal here, the flavors were rich, comforting, and felt truly local. Every dish came out perfectly cooked, and you could really tell that the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care. What stood out the most for me was their house chili sauce—it was absolutely fantastic! The perfect balance of heat and flavor, and it elevated every dish it touched. The atmosphere was lively yet cozy, with friendly service that made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're a tourist or a local, Capa Negra II delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for a taste of true Portugal!
