We visited the Byron Bay Lighthouse, also known as the Cape Byron Lighthouse, on a sunny afternoon and were blown away by the stunning views. The lighthouse is located on the easternmost point of mainland Australia, and the scenery is simply breathtaking. Make sure you visit the museum too. *Highlights:* - *Panoramic Views:* The lookout offers spectacular 360-degree views of the coastline, ocean, and surrounding landscape. On a clear day, you can see the Gold Coast skyscrapers in the distance. - *Whale Watching:* During whale migration season (June to November), the lookout is a great spot to spot humpback whales. - *Sunset:* The lookout is perfect for watching the sunset, with the golden light casting a warm glow over the ocean. If you are lucky you can spot BOTTLENECK DOLPHINS too. *Experience:* The drive to the lighthouse is scenic, winding through beautiful coastal forest. The lookout area is well-maintained and offers plenty of space to take in the views. We spent hours here, taking photos, watching the surfers, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. *Tips:* - *Arrive Early:* Get there early to secure parking and avoid the crowds. - *Bring Sun Protection:* Wear sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun. - *Respect the Environment:* Take care to respect the natural environment and Aboriginal cultural heritage. *Rating Breakdown:* - *Scenic Views:* 5/5 - *Facilities:* 4/5 - *Accessibility:* 4/5 - *Overall Experience:* 4.5/5 *Recommendation:* The Byron Bay Lighthouse is a must-visit attraction for anyone traveling to the Byron Bay area. The views are simply stunning, and the experience is unforgettable. Be sure to arrive early, bring sun protection, and respect the environment.

Beautiful sunset at Cape Byron Lighthouse 🌅 We visited Cape Byron Lighthouse with the family at sunset, and it was an unforgettable experience. The view from the top is simply breathtaking — golden skies stretching over the ocean, waves crashing below, and the peaceful atmosphere that comes as the day winds down. The walk up was gentle and scenic, and the lighthouse itself is a lovely historic spot with panoramic views in every direction. We took our time soaking it all in, snapping photos, and just enjoying the moment together as a family. It’s a must-visit if you’re in Byron Bay — especially at sunset when the light hits just right. A peaceful and memorable way to end the day. 🌞🌊

We arrived at 3pm, close to the closing time for tours. It was busy but we managed to get a park fairly quickly right up near the lighthouse. Amazing views out over the ocean. We even got to see whales and their calves splashing off the coast. We visited at the end of September. Amazing time of day and year to go! Oh..... wear a hat strap if you are!

We did the full loop walk from the main beach up to Cape Byron Lighthouse and back, and it was absolutely worth it. The weather was perfect, and the views along the way were stunning – from the coastline to the endless ocean. A highlight was spotting several whales during the walk, which was such a delightful surprise. At the top, the lighthouse itself is iconic and there’s a nice little café nearby where you can rest and take in the scenery. The round trip is about 7 km, so give yourself time, but the experience is rewarding from start to finish. Highly recommend this walk for anyone visiting Byron Bay.

The view was amazing however even at 545am on a Sunday morning there is very little parking so if you are not one of the 10 people to get a spot (there were about 100 people there) expect a $140 parking fine from the Byron Bay council. What kind of person sets an alarm to go and ticket cars in an area they are trying to promote visitors? Really put a dampener on a weekend health retreat trying to reduce stress and its $140 not being spent at the local businesses.

Nice views. While visiting relatives in Australia we took a trip to Port Macquarie and stopped here along the way. Parking can be a bit tough as you may get all the way to the top just to find out there are no more spots. If you're up for the walk, you can park in town and take the hike up to the light house.

Absolutely loved stopping at Cape Byron Lighthouse for a visit. We were lucky enough to see a pod of whales passing by too! Parking was a bit tricky to find. If you have kids or a pram etc I definitely would recommend waiting until a spot opens up at the top as the walk up from the lower carpark is a killer

Upon the cliffs of Byron Bay, where sky and ocean meet, Stands proud the Cape Byron Lighthouse, a beacon bold and sweet. A place one must not miss, where vistas grand unfold, Especially on clear-brushed days, in hues of blue and gold. If by motor coach you arrive, take heed and plan with care: Two lots lie near, a modest stroll, with cheaper fare to bear. Just five to ten short minutes hence, the summit waits in light, Where coastline sings in sweeping arcs and waters glow so bright. Ascend the path and lift your gaze, behold the vast expanse, Where turquoise waves caress the shore in nature’s joyful dance. A little farther down the trail, a sacred point you’ll see: The easternmost of all the land, where dawn first graces thee. Whether for a tranquil hike, or whales that breach the spray, Or simply for the stillness there, let beauty lead your way. In Byron’s arms, both wild and warm, your spirit finds delight, Beneath the watchful lighthouse flame that guides the stars at night.
