Cape Cross Seal Reserve Review
The Cape Cross Seal Reserve is a fascinating and unique destination that offers an incredible opportunity to witness seals in their natural habitat. The sight of thousands of seals lounging, playing, and interacting is both mesmerizing and unforgettable, making it a must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts.
However, it’s important to be prepared for the overpowering smell that accompanies such a large seal colony. The odor is intense and lingers even after you leave the reserve, so if you're sensitive to strong smells, this might be a challenge. For me, the experience was worth it, but it's definitely something to keep in mind.
One aspect I found a bit unsettling was the presence of seal carcasses scattered around the area. While it’s a natural part of the ecosystem, it was still difficult to see. That said, it’s a reminder of the raw, unfiltered reality of nature.
Despite these challenges, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Observing the seals in their natural environment was a rare and rewarding experience. If you can handle the smell and embrace the raw beauty of nature, Cape Cross Seal Reserve is a place you won’t forget.
