However, it’s important to be prepared for the overpowering smell that accompanies such a large seal colony. The odor is intense and lingers even after you leave the reserve, so if you're sensitive to strong smells, this might be a challenge. For me, the experience was worth it, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. One aspect I found a bit unsettling was the presence of seal carcasses scattered around the area. While it’s a natural part of the ecosystem, it was still difficult to see. That said, it’s a reminder of the raw, unfiltered reality of nature. Despite these challenges, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Observing the seals in their natural environment was a rare and rewarding experience. If you can handle the smell and embrace the raw beauty of nature, Cape Cross Seal Reserve is a place you won’t forget.

You like large quantities of seals like hundreds of thousands of them, swimming, waddling, fighting, barking, seal pups and smells this is for you. About a two hour drive from Walvis Bay. Small park entry fee! You really don’t want to miss this and the drive along the coast is worth the price of admission.

The place is highly recommended to visit. The seals are everywhere of different size and age. Beautiful views. Nice coastline back drop. There is a comfortable walkway around the place and they are even underneath the walkway. You can see them very close. It is a bit smelly and loud but adds to the experience and should not be seen as a dampener. Highly recommending the Place

This place was amazing. I had a great time observing these animals. It does smell bad and the stench does linger for a day or so but thereafter it was fine. Definitely worth a visit.

Seeing so many seals in one place was amazing! Just be prepared because they really smell—I held my breath the whole time. They're also very loud, but it's so much fun! A must-do experience!

The money paid for conversation does not get used for maintaining the place A Little bit of maintenance will go along way. It makes no sense paying for something you get nothing in return. The seals themselves are fascinating. Think twice before taking kids here. The amount of death and smell is overwhelming

It is nice to see all these seals from the boardwalk (and hear them!). There are thousands of them. However, the smell was too much to handle for me. I used a handkerchief for my nose and tried to breathe only through my mouth. Be prepared for the smell, but it is definitely worth seeing all these cuties! The babies are amazing!
