A lovely original lighthouse keeper's cottage at the far end of Kangaroo Island in Flinder's Chase National Park. Very clean, very well maintained, very comfortable. Everything that we needed, great communication from the National Parks Service but left alone. Well equipped kitchen, modern bathroom reno. 3 bedrooms. |A short walk down past the lighthouse to Admirals Arch and the seal colony. A short drive to Remarkable Rocks. A fantastic spot to take our French guests! We look forward to trying the cottages at the other lighthouses!

Wow - amazing place to stay. Fully equipped with all the small things taken care of - bit of milk in fridge, sauces and condiments, a bar of soap etc. Bathroom looks newly renovated - 5 star. But the traditional wood fired log stove is available alongside the gas/electric and the microwave. Terrific history and a short walk to lighthouse, views of sunset and sunrise and a 1 km walk down to Admirals Arch. Weir cove is worth a visit (walk 2 hours return or 10 min drive) and remarkable rocks were great too - 15 minute drive. Visitor centre is a 20 min drive back in land but was very handy for breakfast and lunches and a pie for dinner if you are over cooking. Terrific Walk down to Platypus Pools - 2 hours return - with abundant wildlife from visitor centre. We had sun wind storms a gale and sun again in 3 nights of stay - this place is great in all of them. The absolute bonus is having the whole place to yourselves before 9 and after 5. The light is at its best then for photos and the seal pups are way more active too!

We stayed 3 nights at Karatta Lodge, 1 of 3 lighthouse keepers’ cottages within Flinders Chase National Park. The cottages are over 100 years old but well set up, good heating and cooking facilities with comfortable beds. The bathroom and refrigerator are modern. Otherwise the heritage feel of the cottage has been preserved. Take your own food as there are no shops of any kind. No Wi-Fi or mobile phone coverage either. It is truly isolated. All park visitors are required to leave by sundown, so you then have the place to yourself! A short walk along a bush track and boardwalk takes you to spectacular, rugged scenery at Admirals Arch with its seal colony, seabirds and crashing waves. Wallabies and kangaroos abound. Wonderful!

We stayed 3 nights in Karatta Lodge - what an experience! Remote, nostalgic, comfortable accommodation. The houses are beautifully maintained as they were last used in the 1950s, but I suspect the indoor bathroom is an addition. No internet or phone but so close to Admiral's Arch and the fabulous sunsets and views, plus all the fur seals lounging on the rocks. We made this our base to do activities at that end of the Island, and it was so lovely coming home to Karatta every night! We read, played cards, talked and slept like logs! Very highly recommended!

We stayed 2 nights at Karatta Lodge. It is the original lighthouse keepers cottage. It has been beautifully restored with the addition of a modern bathroom which was great. In terms of location it is isolated with only 2 other lodges for company which for us was a great feature. Lighthouse is minutes away on foot. Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch are a short drive or can be walked to. A highlight of our Kangaroo Island trip.

First, thank you fire-fighters - and rangers - for making our holiday possible. We like lighthouse keepers' cottages and Troubridge Lodge was a beauty. Be sure to plan what to take, including glad wrap! The evening walks were spectacular. Watching the sun set over the ocean was magic. All the nature sights were very special. We were so lucky.

It is a Lighthouse keeper's cottage so not 5 star. But! Beds are great, adequate cooking facilities, big eat I kitchen, cosy lounge room, bathroom modern, but down a couple of inside stairs. The surrounding area and attractions, all free, are magnificent.. The walks amazing. The seals so close. The land form attractions un believable. So many other interesting and amazing things to see around the rest of the island if you have a car (which I guess is needed to get here) Put this place on your bucket list!!!!!

We stayed here in June 2017. The cottage has a wonderful location and a lot of character. There is a fully equipped kitchen and multiple bedrooms. It is an awesome and peaceful experience but bring your own food as there is no restaurant nearby. It was one of our favorite places and strongly recommend it to people who don't like very commercial or crowded places. Will definitely go back there sometime.
