One of the best hikes on the coast! It's not too difficult and the overlook at the end is amazing. It can get muddy in some sections though so be prepared to get a little dirty if it's wet.

We hiked this trail twice. The first time, 3 years ago, we were unable to complete it due to a dead deer blocking the trail. This time we were able to complete the home and it was worth it. The crazy part is that we were only a few hundred yards from the end last time and didn't realize it. The trail to the point is...interesting. There are some narrow sections, lots of roots and rocks that can be a tripping hazard, some sections may be muddy and covered in water, Some structures have been built to bypass wet areas, and the trail may be wet or dusty depending on the season. Minor elevation changes thoughout, but most challenges come from the exposed roots, especially ones that hide in the mottled areas where shadows and sunlight make it a little more difficult to see these hazards. The views at the end are incredible. The wind is furious, but gloriously cool. There are both easily navigable portions as well as more difficult portions of the trail depending on the effort you can or want to make at the end. There is a way down to Short Sands Beach if you would like to attempt it on your way back. It is not for the faint of heart, but our family made it down 3 years ago with our youngest child being 12. Go slow, wear good shoes, and mind your points of contact if you plan to attempt. Overall, this is a tremendous hike. I recommend it to everyone if they are in the area. The trail is fantastic, the views incredible, and going to Short Sands Beach afterwards is icing on the cake.

Magical trail, every turn in amazing. Easy trail, just requires paying attention to the roots. The beach reveal is outstanding.

This is a good hiking trail, not too much of an elevation change. The view is beautiful once you get to the point. I rated this a moderate hike because there are many tree roots you have to walk on and over. There are parts of the trail that are narrow but places to step to the side to let other hikers pass. We saw quite a few dogs on the trail also. Be sure to look at the trees in the forest, there are some huge trees!

Trail needs maintenance. It is narrow with protruding roots and some fallen branches or trees. Paved parking lot. Apparently no charge to park. Restrooms are available nearby at the lot south on 101 on east side of highway. There are cleaner restrooms at the Short Sand Beach area. Trails are not depicted well on Google Maps. There is no map posted at these two lots. There was a map posted at a lot south on 101 on west side of highway. Google Maps calls that lot Short Sands Trail - South Trailhead. Leashed dogs allowed on trails.

Sooo beautiful! This hike promises beautiful ocean views along the 4.5 mi .It’s about 1h 45m from Portland (between Cannon Beach & Manzanita). Enjoy and #savetheplanet ! 🙌✨️🌏💧

Cool trail. Took me a little over 2 hours round-trip with doddling and picture taking. I'm from the midwest so maybe my standards are low but I was impressed with the scenery. There are warning signs for experienced hikers only, as long as you are reasonably physical capable I didn't think it was that bad but there is some significant elevation gain that may tire you and at times the path is mostly uneven tree roots.

What a beautiful hidden jem. Wood Bench 1/2 mile located left of the fork. Enjoy peaceful misty beach (we went @10AM), historic landmark-thank you to man that saved this beach for public use. Parking ✔️many spaces the earlier you arrive - more options you have
