This was a beautiful trail. Old growth forest, lots of Sitka spruce, lush vegetation, with views of the ocean and beach throughout the trail. The "peak" isn't clearly marked, so I kept going through extra trails in the brush to find 180° views of ocean, beach, rocks, and trees. Not too busy, worth every step.

Beautiful coastal hike with a muddy challenge Trail was more rugged than expected—lots of roots and mud, especially in the second half—but the views at the end are absolutely worth it. About 4.8 miles round trip with nearly 700 ft of elevation. Great coastal forest, and that cliffside payoff is stunning. Go early for parking, and wear good shoes!

My brother comes here often. Great place to surf, although the waves weren't high the day we visited. Magnificent views, not too highly trafficked.

We hiked this trail twice. The first time, 3 years ago, we were unable to complete it due to a dead deer blocking the trail. This time we were able to complete the home and it was worth it. The crazy part is that we were only a few hundred yards from the end last time and didn't realize it. The trail to the point is...interesting. There are some narrow sections, lots of roots and rocks that can be a tripping hazard, some sections may be muddy and covered in water, Some structures have been built to bypass wet areas, and the trail may be wet or dusty depending on the season. Minor elevation changes thoughout, but most challenges come from the exposed roots, especially ones that hide in the mottled areas where shadows and sunlight make it a little more difficult to see these hazards. The views at the end are incredible. The wind is furious, but gloriously cool. There are both easily navigable portions as well as more difficult portions of the trail depending on the effort you can or want to make at the end. There is a way down to Short Sands Beach if you would like to attempt it on your way back. It is not for the faint of heart, but our family made it down 3 years ago with our youngest child being 12. Go slow, wear good shoes, and mind your points of contact if you plan to attempt. Overall, this is a tremendous hike. I recommend it to everyone if they are in the area. The trail is fantastic, the views incredible, and going to Short Sands Beach afterwards is icing on the cake.

The trail starts as an easy walking through a dense forest with a very steep drop on the side of the trail, so steep that a wrong step may end up in a deadly fall. But the trail is wide the first half, and so flat for the first quarter that makes you wonder why it is reported as difficult? Just as you build the impression that it is "just a walk in the park", a flooded path with soft mud lays ahead. Someone has tried building a few wooden platforms, but they are covered with mud. Getting out of the mud, the path is covered with tree roots making it a walking challenge on almost every step, as you need to find the space between roots or try to walk on top of the roots. From now on the path alternates between the rooted and the muddy all year long, and it takes determination to make it to the end, but it is very rewarding, the view at the end is spectacular, even though the path narrows down to walking sideways through bushes close to the end.

Pretty easy hike with views at the end that are a big payoff for the effort. It's one of my favorite day hikes.

One of the best hikes on the coast! It's not too difficult and the overlook at the end is amazing. It can get muddy in some sections though so be prepared to get a little dirty if it's wet.

Its the best tiny hike on a coast in the contiguous united states i think. (Who's been to all of them?)
