Well we live in Ketchikan and don't go to Cape Fox very often. It's kind of tucked away up above town and we just don't think to go there often. Friday after work we thought, "Hey, let's go to Cape Fox for dinner!" It was not a great decision. We got there shortly after 4pm. We've gone there before for dinner on Friday, knowing that it is one of the nights they serve prime rib. We were seated and given the wrong menus (lunch and breakfast). The waiter finally noticed and brought us, and the patrons sitting next to us, the correct menus. Honestly, I didn't see much of a difference between the lunch and dinner menus but oh well. Waiter came back and took our drink and food orders and off he went. About 10-15 minutes later we started wondering where our drinks were. There were only about two other tables with customers so it wasn't because they were busy. Finally our waiter notices our drinks weren't coming up and lo and behold, there's a new "system" in place and the bartender was not aware of our drink order. Within a few minutes we finally had our drinks with their apologies about the wait and an explanation about the situation. Shortly after that, our meals arrive. My husband had halibut fish and chips and I had a chicken Cesar salads. I wish I could say the salad was good but I cannot. It is literally the first time I've ever had a Cesar salad that grossed me out. The lettuce was just weird. Too weird and the salad dressing was minimal. To top it off, the chicken seemed watery and tasteless. I ate about 4 bites and couldn't finish the rest. My husband offered me one of his pieces of fish and low and behold it was over cooked. Ugh! We gave up. The waiter came back and asked if I wanted a to go container for my salad and I politely declined. We then opted to try the dessert. Our first choice was the caramel/apple pie. The waiter said he would check and see if they had any and asked what our second choice would be. We told him we would take the banana cream selection and off he went. Within about 3 minutes he was back at our table profusely apologizing that they did not have either of them available. I'm like, WTH?? I ask, what was going on? Are you guys under new management? He seemed quite embarrassed and said, yes. The new manager has been hired but not there yet. There was an interim manager but they weren't really much help. And another one of the people in charge was out of town on vacation. Not to mention the menus is being revamped as was the drink menu (which was not available when we asked for it). Oh, they were also using a new POS/ordering system. This was probably one of the worst dining experiences we've had in ages! As we were leaving my husband asked the waiter if they still served prime rib on Fridays (as it wasn't in the menu). He said, yes, as a matter of fact it's just now ready. He tells us he didn't mention it was an option because it wasn't ready when we were ordering. I was stunned. We gladly would have waited if we had known it was even an option. We've done it before. Do better Cape Fox!
