"Tucked into the patchwork hills of the Margaret River wine region, Cape Lodge is a three-hour drive or 45-minute flight south of Perth. This country getaway sits on 40 acres of vineyards, native bush, and lakes a short drive from peaceful towns like Margaret River, Dunsborough, and Yallingup. The region is celebrated for food and wine, and the award-winning Cape Lodge Restaurant is arguably the best place to sample everything from White Rocks veal to prized black Périgord truffles. Bellies filled, guests can meander rows of vines, relax by the lake, or retreat to their spacious rooms, graced with country-style quilts, embroidered pillows, and fresh-cut flowers. Travelers will want to explore the area’s wild beaches (the lodge is less than two miles from the Indian Ocean), karri tree forests, winetasting rooms, artisan markets, and cave systems once inhabited by Aboriginal Australians."

Second time back, place is well maintained though the age of the property can be seen. Enjoyed the serenity beautiful landscapes. Restaurant is good but lacked a wow factor we recalled from our first trip. Still, it was an enjoyable stay.

Our third stay at Capelodge did not disappoint. Tranquillity abounds in this lovely setting. As always, the lakeside suite was clean and comfortable. The highlight for us on this visit was the dining experience. The wait staff were efficient and friendly. Obviously well trained in hospitality. Iris and Cornelia were especially good at their jobs. Finally, kudos to the chef. All the offerings were beautifully presented and delicious. The latest chef is a credit to Capelodge.

We arrived late and the check in to our room was easy. Woke up in the morning and came out to breakfast. The beautiful smell of ferns just hits you. Cape lodge is set in beautiful surroundings on a lake and is so peaceful. The food is fantastic. Both at breakfast and dinner. On one occasion we had had a large lunch and only my husband ate and they were fine with that. Anything to accommodate. All the staff were lovely with one lovely lady giving me a fantastic home recipe If I am in that neck of the woods again. I would 100% return to cape lodge. I left my jumper in the room they even posted it back to me. Thank you cape lodge. The little things. Xoxo

What should be a stunning luxury retreat feels more like a dated assisted living facility from the 1990s. Cape Lodge has incredible potential to be fabulous. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff is incredibly warm and helpful. And the structure is there. The place just needs a serious renovation. You cannot charge 5 star prices and deliver a 3 star experience. The Margaret River deserves what Cape Lodge could potentially be. Please renovate.

Hubby and I just stayed in the lakeside "suite" and were thoroughly disappointed in what we'd paid for and had major regrets choosing this place to stay for our special celebration. It was a tired old room in a depressing dark grey colour that is in desperate need of a makeover. There were several deep rips and stains in the carpet. The curtains were broken. There's an extensive amount of chips out of the paintwork/ walls everywhere. The furniture was all scratched, old and worn. Making everything feel unclean, tired and sad in there. With the amount you pay per night there is some basic maintenance that is not being done and should be. I am told managers are all very aware of these same issues and yet nothing is done which is disgraceful. Outdoor paved areas are all over the place and require cleaning, the garden outside the room is all full of leaves and has no nice plants. The outdoor furniture is uncomfortable and dirty. Outside screens are rusted, outdoor walls are dirty and chipped and guttering is full of leaves. Patching and painting of walls and screens are basic maintenance items that can be done with little effort or money. A floor rug to cover the carpet issues and brighten the room. More provisions of water, larger TV, ceiling fan, coffee machine, kitchenette, modern bathroom and automated blinds should all be included in the upgrades for increased guest comfort. The restaurant used to be "the" place to eat and now the food is average at best. Staff were polite and empathetic. Nice grounds including "lake" with wonderful birdlife and Koi fish. Great location in the SW and it could be just beautiful, so come on Twiggy inject some much needed life into your Cape lodge property and get it right! Until then, reduce the prices to better reflect value for money for your patrons, and be upfront about the condition of the rooms so people can make informed decisions about staying there and ultimately better manage the expectations of your guests.

Absurd service, we were asked whether we had made a booking (when it was apparent that only three tables were being attended to at the time) we said we did not and the response...was a spat out "your'e kidding" all three of us said no. She needed to speak with her manager and needed 15 minutes to prepare a table? This left us feeling extremely unwelcome and disappointed.

Thank you to the team at Cape Lodge. What a wonderful experience. The rooms and beds were fantastic. The facilities faultless, the staff and restaurant were excellent. Lots of little things done very well - the tea and coffee in the guest lounge, fridge full of complementary drinks at the pool, welcome drinks at the restaurant and very helpful staff. Fully booked on Sat and Sun but it is so well laid out, we felt like the only guests!|Put this on your wish list.

Cape Lodge in the Margaret River wine region is an exceptional luxury retreat that combines world-class hospitality with an unbeatable vineyard setting. Nestled on 40 acres of lush gardens and vineyards, Cape Lodge feels like a secluded paradise. From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel completely at home, offering personal touches that set the tone for a refined stay. My suite was elegant and spacious, with views over the lake and vineyard. I spent the day exploring nearby wineries before returning to the Lodge’s award-winning restaurant, where the chef’s tasting menu was a revelation of flavors, showcasing seasonal ingredients from local farms and the on-site kitchen garden. Paired with renowned Margaret River wines, each course was a journey into the heart of this gourmet region. Cape Lodge is the perfect destination for wine lovers and those seeking a luxurious escape in the Australian countryside.

Yelp
I spent the weekend in Cape Lodge during a visit to the Margaret River. ACCOMODATION Accommodation is by no means cheap but I had a very enjoyable stay there. The lodges are small but this gives it a cosy feel. There is minimal reception at the lodge but they provide you with wireless internet. The soaps and shampoos provided are all from the local olive oil factory. These are all natural, organic and chemical free. My only complaint is that the lodges are quite close to each other and the walls quite thin so you can hear when people are walking past and sometimes hear faint noises from neighbouring lodges. FOOD Dinner was headed by Executive Chef, Tony Howell. I had mixed feelings about the dishes served. I tasted 2 entrees, mains and desserts and really enjoyed one but not the other. Winning menu Salmon Sashimi, Roasted Lamb Loin, Quince Frangipanni Losing menu Sous Vide Spatchcock, Catch of the day, Strawberries, chocolate mousee, pistachio nut praline The general consensus at the table was that the mash potato was by far the best dish at dinner. Breakfast is probably my favourite meal when I have the time to sit back, relax and enjoy my breakfast that someone else has prepared. In my opinion the breakfasts at Cape Lodge outdid the dinner. Buffet of cut fruit, muffins, croissants, different breads, preserves and a variety of yogurt and museli. The breakfasts from the kitchen were beautifully presented. My favourite was the Home Made Brioche (truffled scrambled eggs, garlic mushrooms, crispy prosciutto and truffle oil over french toast). Absolutely divine. Loved the classical music playing during breakfast which created a warm relaxing atmosphere. Great start to each morning. OVERALL Cape Lodge is a fantastic place to relax in the middle of a Vineyard. A great place to unwind but definitely not a small price to pay.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and restaurant absolutely stunning grounds. Dining in front of a lake and manicured gardens. Dinner and breakfast fantastic. Considering this place is regularly short listed as one of the best 10 places to stay and the chef is apparently renowned, the accomodation and meal prices are not bad.

Yelp
Our third stay here and I can only suggest that the Forest spa suites are by far the best rooms we have stayed in so far... Big spacious rooms with a sitting area, and a big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and the most unique feature I have come across - heated floors! Great for all those cold day or night trips to the bathroom... The on-site restaurant is also highly rated and has a wonderful breakfast menu... Great place for a romantic weekend, but definitely not one with the kids!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic meals. We've had both breakfast and dinner here, and each meal was terrific. We can't fault anything about either meal or the attentive service. Without a doubt, I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.

Yelp
but Cape Lodge disappoints too often. No one bothered to come out and greet us as we drove up, so we wandered in to the check-in desk to see if anyone was around. There was a person there. After checking in we were shown to room 25, a so-called "Lake View" room. The lake is a tiny, green-tinged pond. As we walked up to the room's entrance I noticed two-foot tall grass growing out of the rain gutters and fully or partially disassembled swallow nests all over that side of the building. Cheap, hollow-core metal doors, Berber carpeting and very cheap bathroom fixtures greeted us in the room. The room was spacious, but, cheap decor on a larger scale is nothing to wish for. One nice touch was radiant floor heating in the bathroom. On the negative side I never did quite figure out how to control the room's heating/AC. So, sweltering or pretty chilly is what we got. Another positive is the location. Wineries surround the hotel and Margaret River is a short drive south and Dunsborough a short drive north. The staff was fine, but, since there are twenty-two or so rooms they really don't know if you're a registered guest, as non-guests may choose to visit and have a meal, I guess. Consequently, at breakfast you're asked to state your "Name and room number!" Once they got to recognize us the dining staff was very good. The grounds are quiet with some nice plantings here and there, but nothing very special. All-in-all, I would look closely at the competition because there has to be a better value out there.
