"While Cape Point is not, in fact, the southernmost tip of Africa—as is often claimed—it is generally accepted that the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet somewhere between here and the real tip, Cape Agulhas. Still, Cape Point is about as dramatic as you can get, with the land falling steeply away on three sides, the wind whipping around the cliffs, and the ocean churning below. The road to the point, at the end of a drive from Cape Town , goes through 20 miles of nature reserve full of baboons and antelopes. For those who don’t want to walk up to the lighthouse, there is a funicular, but to reach the point itself, you’re going to have to hike."

A must see and worth the visit when in Cape Town. Great hike if that what you into otherwise easy access for all ages. Parking is good and secure, shops are very pricy especially for locals.

Simply awesome. Walk all the way up to the lighthouse and then hike to the Cape of Good Hope. An epic and beautiful adventure. We saw baboons, an ostrich, a zebra, and a caracal!

Best Sunday spent. We arrived early only a few cars in parking lot. We will definitely be returning and pack a picnic basket. Make a point of going down each road as you will see and find the gems that tourist fly in from all over the world to see

Nice drives in and there is a funicular to get to the old lighthouse. It is very windy so be prepared and don’t have your hat fly away. There are good hikes as well to get up to the old lighthouse and one to the view of the new lighthouse. There is a visitor center to get some stuff. We saw ostriches while we were there.

Cape Point, situated at the southeastern tip of the Cape Peninsula within Table Mountain National Park, is a captivating destination that offers a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and diverse wildlife. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by dramatic cliffs and panoramic ocean vistas. The journey to the old lighthouse can be made via the Flying Dutchman Funicular, a funicular railway that ascends through dense fynbos vegetation, offering scenic views along the way. Alternatively, the more adventurous can opt for a hike to the top, which, though challenging, rewards with breathtaking views of the surrounding seascape. The area is rich in biodiversity. Wildlife enthusiasts may encounter baboons, ostriches, and various antelope species. The marine environment is equally impressive, with opportunities to spot whales, dolphins, and seals, particularly during the winter months. Cape Point is also steeped in maritime history. The old lighthouse, perched atop the cliffs, stands as a testament to the area's significance in nautical navigation. Due to frequent fog at higher elevations, a new lighthouse was constructed at a lower altitude to better serve passing ships. For those interested in hiking, the reserve offers numerous trails that meander through its rugged terrain, providing both challenging treks and leisurely walks. In summary, Cape Point is a must-visit location for anyone traveling to the Western Cape. Its combination of stunning landscapes, rich history, and abundant wildlife makes it a unique and memorable destination.

My favourite road to travel. The most beautiful view in the country in my opinion. Love it.

The southeastern tip of the cape peninsula offers the stunning views & experience of Atlantic Ocean. This also falls within the Table Mountain NP. There is a steep trek to the lighthouse. This is confused to be as the southernmost tip of Africa. But for that you have to go to Cape Agulhas where you can even see 2 oceans meet - Atlantic & Indian. We were lucky to spot mountain Zebra, Bontebok & few Ostriches.
