"Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa There’s a touch of Old World glamour to the Cape Royale—the imposing facade, the dramatic lobby, the bellmen in top hats—but just when you start to wonder if the whole experience is going to be resolutely old-school, you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised by the sleek rooms. They feature contemporary furniture, granite and porcelain bathrooms, and a soothing palette of mostly grays and whites with the occasional punch of lime green or aqua blue. It’s also the site of six restaurants, cafes, and bars, each with its own theme, from Italian cuisine to healthy eating to Thai or Middle Eastern fare. The city’s best beaches and nightlife—not to mention Green Point's dazzling Cape Town Stadium, erected for the 2010 World Cup and now the site of many a mega-concert and local soccer match—are minutes away."

One of the Worst Spa Experiences I've Ever Had I visited the spa at the Cape Royal Hotel expecting a relaxing, rejuvenating experience but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst spa visits I've ever had. While the hotel itself is lovely and gives a good first impression, things quickly fell apart once we entered the spa area. The floors were filthy and sticky, which is already unsettling when you’re walking around barefoot. It immediately made the place feel unhygienic and poorly maintained. After being shown to our massage room, we were told to undress and lie down as usual. We did and then waited ten minutes with no one returning. Eventually, I had to walk out in a towel to find someone and let them know we were ready. Their casual response of “Oh okay, are you done? Can we come in now?” was beyond unprofessional. The actual treatment, a scrub and massage was equally disappointing. Throughout the scrub, the therapists kept blasting the tap with water for reasons unclear to us, completely drowning out the calming music that’s supposed to create a relaxing ambiance. There was constant movement, noise, and commotion not at all the peaceful spa environment you’d expect. After the scrub, rather than taking care when dealing with the leftover scrub flakes, the therapists literally flicked and brushed the particles off the bed while we were still lying there, hitting and scratching us in the process. It was both uncomfortable and unnecessary that kind of cleanup can and should happen after the session, not during. As for the massage itself, it felt rushed and unskilled, lacking the technique or flow you'd expect from trained professionals. It felt like they were just going through the motions, with no real care or experience behind it. Based on previous reviews, this kind of poor service is not new, and it’s clear that management hasn't taken any real steps to improve the experience. I really hoped this would be a special treat, but it left me feeling more irritated than relaxed. I wouldn’t recommend this spa to anyone looking for a quality wellness experience. There are far better and cleaner, more professional spas in Cape Town that take pride in the service they offer.

This was the worst spa experiences ever. The people who welcomed us had no manners. They did not greet us properly, did not make eye contact or informed us about how anything was supposed to happen. We decided that it was okay since they might have had a long day. However, the massage therapists were rude, and basically just pointed where we were supposed to go. They asked if the pressure was alright, I asked if they could massage a little harder, and then they ignored my request. When they were done, they just switched on the lights, already opened the door ready to leave. The rooms were also definitely not cleaned properly. There were stains everywhere on the floor. I know it’s difficult to keep things spotless, but the floor was extremely dirty. We were supposed to be able to choose between a Swedish or an aroma therapy massage, and they never asked us. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The absolute worst experience. This spa is so unprofessional and unethical. Firstly, their communication is terrible. They do not answer their emails or calls. I decided to go in person to make a booking (this was in January). The receptionist ladies were sitting chatting while the phone was ringing. I asked to look at their inbox because no one was responding to my emails. To no surprise my email was part of hundreds of unread emails. Anyway, I made a booking for Saturday, 8 March 2025. All seemed well until we arrived for our appointment. We were turned away by the security guard because "the spa is not operating, it has been closed for a few days". This was the cherry on top. No communication to inform us, no attempt to call and reschedule. This was extremely disappointing because we were excited for a spa day. Honestly, the worst service. I have nothing good to say.

Great apartment and team that met my expectations. Sibongile was exceptional and guided us through our stay. Parking was very secure.

I’m extremely disappointed with the level of service I’ve received from this spa. I’ve been trying to get in touch since Sunday I called multiple times, sent an email, and even reached out via social media. No response. When I finally got through to someone, I was told the delay was due to “busy lines,” which is a poor excuse for such an extended lack of communication. I’ve never dealt with a business that takes this long to respond, regardless of how busy they are. I bought a voucher, but due to the incompetence of the staff and the lack of proper customer service, I won’t be able to use it. I’m not based in Cape Town, and this entire experience has felt like a waste of time and money. Absolutely unacceptable. They seriously need to improve their customer service.

We loved the location, it's the best. And stayed for 13 days BUT, a Huge BUT: Apartment 404: 1. the service was bad, I had to ask house keeping several times to clean the apartment. 2. The white bath towels are disgusting, grey, hard and some of them were torn. 3. Cleaners leave towels untidy, unfolded in the bathroom. 4. Our Nespresso had to be replaced. That happened on day 3 only. 5. We asked for extra keys and entry security cards, we had to wait for 4 days. 6. Yesterday for no reason they came and replaced a perfect working fridge, with one that does NOT WORK. All our Deli fresh food went off, all the drinks were hot, and all ice melted. Remember: the units towards the front Main Street level is extremely noisy. Road traffic never stops, road traffic-white noise is hectic. Suggestion is to book a unit away from the Main rd. However the Doormen are some of the best, we travel extensively and these siuted-up -men are polite and friendly. You can be proud of yourselves. They always greet you, as if you are the most important person. Just loved it. Please improve the services and linen and we will be back 5 x per year.

Came in person to sort out a rescheduling issue I had with a spa treatment because absolutely nobody responds to emails or answers the phone. Upon arrival I parked behind the hotel because the gate was open. When I returned to leave the gate was closed and I couldn't get out. I asked the spa receptionist to assist with this. She referred me to the concierge. The concierge was upset that I parked in that parking, when there is no signage to indicate that this parking is for residents only. She proceeded to tell the receptionist at the spa that I "snuck in". Terrible to make a client feel this way. Definitely won't be recommending this place to anybody.

I do not recommend the spa at all, we received a coupon as a gift.. They bought it on Wikideals for February 2025. We were very unhappy about a couple of things: - It’s ridiculous! It’s takes you a week to get hold of someone from the spa. Communication is horrible! It’s impossible to make a booking as no one answers the phone. Service is horrible -The rooms are not well maintained. Damp, dirty smells covered up by aroma oils...floors filthy, hot room with no air-Conditioning! I’m surprised they still carrying on with business. And looking at the recent reviews…. It’s pathetic. I will never visit the place again and I don’t recommend it to anyone!
