Cape Town Free Walking Tours

What a sensational concept! Cape Town Free Walking Tours offers a selection of guided tours around the system based on different themes. I did the Bo-Kaap cultural tour departing at 2pm. I had lunch at the coffee shop before the tour started. Our group only had 8 people and our guide Tim was amazing. Excellent storyteller and happy to answer all the questions we had along the way. I felt safe exploring the neighbourhood being part of this group. We learned a lot about the Muslim history, restaurants, architecture and end of apartheid. Please tip your guide generously, they deserve it as volunteers. I had planned to do another tour the following day but ended up getting sick so was unable to take further advantage of this setup. Wish more cities would run tours like this!

Amazing! Cedric was very very friendly, impeccable with local info and critical view of historical facts. We’re leaving the tour with extra excitement about Cape Town and its surroundings. Not forgetting its people! Definitely recommend

I completed two tours on the same day: "Bo-Kaap" and "History City" and the guide was Myles. He was amazing. I had never done a walking tour, but this is an excellent way to visit historic parts of Cape Town that may be not be safe enough to go alone. 100% recommended.

Both the Bo Kaap and Apartheid tours were great and time well spent. Tim was a fantastic and enthusiastic guide. Especially impressed with the knowledge and sharing of his personal experience as a White person during and after apartheid. Would be interested to hear from a Black guide in the future. They accept tips by cash and by card - so no excuses :)

I joined the BoKapp walking tour. It was fun. We were a bit afraid to walk in the area by our own and lucky we found out about this tour and that we joined ;). Learnt a lot about the area from our lovely guide Tim. This neighborhood was not to be missed if you visit Cape Town.

My wife booked this walking tour and I was glad she did. Our tour guide was 'Bongs' (his nickname) he was fantastic from start to finish. He made the tour come alive with his personality, knowledge and enthusiasm. We both came away knowing far more about South African and Cape Town history. We would both highly recommend this tour.

Tim top notch guide, super informative and kind. We had 2 tours with him: Apartheid and bo-kaap both great. The first one is something that can’t be done without a guide. Complex theme, well explained by a local.
