Journey to the North: A scenic road trip from Cairns - SilverKris

"A low-key retreat of timber bungalows set just steps from a sweeping rainforest-backed beach, offering a secluded, rustic hideaway ideal for reconnecting with the coast and the surrounding ancient rainforest." - Fiona Harper

Stayed here with a tour group and the location is very unique and right in the rainforest. The rooms were cozy and they have AC to help with the heat for those not used to it. However, they could use some TLC. The room we stayed in had a soft spot in the floor and there were ants getting in through a crack in one of the trims around a wall feature. The restaurant there was fantastic and I highly recommend trying out the Kangaroo Fillet they have. The included breakfast is very simple, toast and cereal, but they do have a breakfast menu for other items. The beach is right there for a scenic place to be, just be aware of any crocs in the water as the one we saw seemed too interested in us. Overall, it's a great place to be for a couple nights despite some flaws.

Great location but rooms let it down. Needed some tlc and no cleaning service whatsoever. They are still using Covid as an excuse for no cooking facilities…. Nothing in the rooms apart from a kettle. They need to either provide a snack service at the restaurant/ as opening times are limited or provide the option for guests to cook their own food in a dedicated area or in rooms. Location is great and beach id amazing too

If only the bed was a great as everything else! Loved the location in the rainforest, direct beach access, great restaurant. Staff was very friendly and flexible. Our room was very neat, big fridge came in handy to store some food and drinks. But the mattress was one of the worst ever I ever slept on. Very springy yet rock hard.

Most convenient place in Cape Tribulation. Lovely place. Love the beach access: got to enjoy the forest meeting the sea in the morning sunshine.||Trolley available to help take bags down, but hard to bring back up. The paths were well lit. Room was generally good, looked as good as the photo. However, the bathroom, namely the shower area, could do with a renovation. Nature sounds are fine, it’s where you are, but the walls are not soundproof: you can hear the people outside. The air-conditioner was a bit noisy too. Would be better if there was allocated parking as spaces were limited.||Gets quite dark after sundown, so was limited to the restaurant on the premises to eat as it can be tricky to drive around in the dark and there’s no signal for navigation. The food at the restaurant was okay, bit pricey. (Online menu was outdated.) Does have some gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. It was nice however to have games available to borrow to play.

We got a flat tire driving towards the resort and Dean saved the day! We couldn’t get these plastic covers off the lug nuts and he drove to where we were on the road multiple times roundtrip to find the correctly fitting wrench so we could put on the spare tire. He deserves a huge raise. Also the resort was awesome and great food/secluded beach

This review is for the restaurant alone - excellent food, each meal was cooked very well. Plenty of coeliac safe gluten free options. The service was fantastic, it is expensive but it is in the middle of nowhere, so that’s understandable. Recommend.

The room felt a little like a jail cell. Black and white walls, no pictures. The bathroom was disgusting with mould everywhere. The floor did not feel safe. It was spongy in spots like you could fall through it. The power points were loose on the walls. The sink was slanting down like it might fall off the wall and the toilet was wobbling at the base. Had dinner. 2 Barra's chips and salad. Barra was very small for the price and had chunks of charcoal stuck to it and thats all you could taste. Chips tasted funky, like old oil. The only thing that was great was the location scenery and the staff were friendly.

Rooms were basic, but very clean. Most importantly: the were creepy crawler free. 🪳The restaurant on site served very tasty dishes, despite being in the middle of the rainforest.

Yelp
I actually really liked this place. Def a surfer vibe going on with just steps to a pristine beach that is Cape trib. Tried their spiced kangaroo with isn't all that spicey, except maybe in a peppery way but still very good. Friends had chicken parmigiana and steak and were delicious as well. A no frills, good food, then head to the beach place. Great stop!

Yelp
Great location, but unexpectedly cold room Stayed here in June for only one night because the weather was unseasonably rainy (not the Beach House's fault, of course). The location would otherwise be ideal for exploring Cape Trib, where the rainforest meets the reef, etc. Being a rainforest, it was soothing to hear the raindrops on the roof at night. One drawback is that the blankets were not warm enough for the cold night and as a result both my friend and I had a bad night's sleep, waking up in the middle of the night several times because of the cold.

Yelp
Cape Trib Beach House is a very affordable option, whilst visiting the area of Cape Trribulation. It is a very funky and modern resort, with a beachfront bar and bistro. It is a great place to relax and unwind, but there are also a range of activities that you can participate in, at an extra cost. ...Nowhere on earth do 2 World Heritage Listed sites come together, with outstanding, natural beauty. You have 'The Great Barrier Reef', only separated by a stretch of pristine beach - and then you have the '120 million year old Daintree Rainforest' ...an 'awsome place' & an 'awsome' experience - not too be missed!

Yelp
We spent four nights here in two of the Ribbon cabins. They certainly didn't look anything whatsoever like the above sparkling white walled cabin picture. The Ribbon cabins looked like they were pieces of unfinished plywood, floor to ceiling. Yes I know we are in a tropical rainforest but .... The staff was friendly, the restaurant was lively, the backpackers kitchen was fun. Food portions the restaurant were absolutely massive. After the first meal, we learned to only order one meal between the two of us and split it; that was plenty. Could have used a brighter lightbulb on the adjoining veranda of the Ribbon cabins as we could just barely see while we were playing cards. One tip: take plenty of bug spray; I lost track of the number of bug bites I had whilst eating at the restaurant. Please do something about those giant horse flies that always bit our legs.

Yelp
I didn't come here to actually stay in the hostel. But I came here as a stop over on my way to see Daintree and grab a quick bite to eat. Everyone who comes here needs to try their calamari salad cause it's light and tasty :) Great location cause just in the backyard of this hostel is where the great barrier reef meets the Daintree rain forest. If I ever go back again I would stay here.

Yelp
great location close to the beach, shady because of rain forest, visiting cassowarys inclusive, clean rooms (double) und bathrooms. beach house has some problems with mouses in the dorms. could be a little cheaper, but you pay for the location. the last some hundred meters is gravel road. but don't worry about your car rental agency, it's no problem to get there. Yelp
My husband and I stayed at Cape Trib Beach House as part of our honeymoon adventure to Australia. We spent 3 days and 2 nights here. First, I have to say, we knew what we were getting ourselves into. If you're looking for a 5 star resort with a heated pool and sauna, this isn't where you want to come. This is exactly as it's advertised, lodging where the rainforest and the beach meet. We stayed in the St Crispin which I would highly recommend to anyone who isn't a hostel type visitor. We had the best view of the beach peeking through the trees, away from everyone else (#3). The bungalow itself had everything you needed. I believe the beds were 2 twins pushed together but I'm not even sure as I couldn't tell. You're in the rainforest so the wildlife is right there next to you. There are insects and you might see them in the bungalows. I didn't see any personally but my husband said he saw a large roach in the bathroom. We also heard the marsupials(?) chewing on the bungalow at one point but they weren't loud or a bother. The staff, they are incredible! You really do feel like you're leaving as friends. Everyone at the front desk was charming and truly willing to help if you needed anything. The chef, wow, that guy needs a raise (I don't know his salary but it isn't enough!). I had the most incredible Penne with white wine vinegar and mushrooms and spinach two nights in a row. It's technically a lunch item but they were so sweet to make it for me for dinner both nights because we missed lunch the first night (and then it was so good, I wanted it the second night too haha). My husband actually tried a few different items off the menu and he's convinced the guy couldn't make a bad meal if he tried. He exceeds all of the food we've ever tasted here in Houston, Texas. At one point after we left our SD card outside the main building (we were uploading photos), the manager of Cape Trib Beach House sought us out later in the day to return it to us. Our experience was truly wonderful and I can't thank everyone at Cape Trib Beach House enough. I don't have one bad thing to say. Thank you so much for making our honeymoon even more memorable!
