Google
Great food, quick service. It has a cute little store inside as well. I got the eggs benedict which claimed to be the best in the city. It was great but, that's a bold claim as I've had 5 others around Rotoura and they were all eggcellent. We also ordered Avacado Bagel. It was great but difficult to eat, it was just huge. Tangy with a slight kick.

Google
Friendly quick service. Food was fresh and tasty. I got the Poke bowl.. Not the cheapest but good portion of salmon and prawns so worth it. I will definitely be back when in Rotorua next.

I only had a coffee today but the selection of cakes, eats etc. Eats Looked fantastic. Coffee was good but too strong! I asked for a Cappuccino the first time and then the 2nd time I asked for a Americano with Froth, but I told the lady I wanted a milky coffee. Next time I will order a Latte. I thought a Latte was a Latte all over the world! 🌟 Completely different to Cape Town, South Africa. The one lady was abit odd when I asked about the coffee, with long black hair. Like I had a problem asking for what I wanted. It was strange. Surely you can ask for what you want if you're paying for it!! Vibe was generally lovely! I tried to respond to the person who replied to me here. I won't allow me to. I did ask for a latte and the lady that was helping me looked at me like I was an idiot. Then I spoke to the Barista who was lovely but did not understand me! Surely a latte is a latte all over the world? Anyway, I just wanted to make you aware as I love your restaurant and would like to go back. The lady with the long black hair wasn't very friendly or helpful! She needs to be more understanding if she cannot understand someone's dialect. Other than that I love the vibe there and the food looks great. I drink alot of coffee! I did have almond croissant which was a bit dry. Not very much filling. In South Africa they put a little of the filling on top too. Just an idea. That was $9.00 🪷

Just popped down to Rotorua from Auckland as I do every year and Capers is a must for a hearty breakfast ,lunch or dinner. The food is always spectacular and the staff and service make you feel like you are on holiday . Great people and the eggs Benedict with Pork bellies are to die for. It's kinda just worth the trip from Auckland for Brunch !

I came here with my family and ordered three servings of the “fish of the day,” but the fish was extremely fishy and almost inedible. We gave feedback the first time and were completely ignored. After asking again, a tall man finally came over, and we even offered him an untouched portion to taste. However, after he took the plate away, we waited for over 20 minutes and no one came back to explain or follow up. Right before we left, we had to approach them again, and the man just coldly said, “The fish isn’t fishy — it’s fresh,” completely dismissing our experience. The whole situation was extremely disappointing — the staff were dismissive, unhelpful, and showed no respect for customer feedback. This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We will never come back and definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

Google
Another good outlet. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The quality of the menu and food is great 👍 and I would recommend a visit for a meal. Enjoy 😉

Google
the atmosphere was great just walking into the cafe, very warm and inviting. the same can be said about the kind staff :) I had the creamy mushroom dish, with warm toasted ciabatta, and creamy mushrooms in a rich sauce and parmesan. the side of bacon is a nice touch; definitely a lot of rich, hearty flavours. the price is quite high for the meals but understandable in the current economy. definitely a nice place to visit while staying in rotorua with your family!

Google
One of our favourite cafe in the North Island. The vegetarian/vegan options were incredibly flavourful. The staff was super nice. Even though it is a big place, it feels cosy.

Yelp
Delicious meal. Fresh ingredients. Courteous staff. Cute little shop with local made goods inside as well! Definitely worth stopping in when looking for a bite in Rotorua.

Yelp
Five stars for the French toast and the coffee. Nice clean place. Busy but efficient and reasonably priced.

Yelp
Best breakfast in NZ! We were on our last week of a 4 week trip starting on the South Island in Queenstown. We had decided up until we got to Rotorua that breakfast is not a NZ strong suit. That is until we walked into to Capers before our kayak adventure. The bagel & eggs Benedict with bacon was fantastic and had us coming back. Everything thing from the pastries to the entrees had a little extra care in its preparation and presentation. Later that day we ordered takeaway Vegetarian lasagna & chicken curry & rice. No disappointments here, both were on point. The left over lasagna was better the following afternoon. Over course we were back for breakfast before we left Rotorua. The coffee was excellent, we had spicy chai lattes, lattes & long blacks in our many visits. Order anything, you can't go wrong!

Yelp
Very very uptight with attitude! Food was too salty and not good They say no whatever you ask them before they listen to you

Robert N.

Yelp
Coffee is sub par for this otherwise extremely overpriced tourist trap. Organic is fine if it has some flavor. Sent the omelette back as it was inedible and tiny. Granola was good but twice what it should have cost. Seriously$25.00 for a bowl of granola with a tiny bowl of yogurt and served with a fork?

Yelp
It's a counter service restaurant with very yummy options. We had the following: Mushroom on toast- i was expecting something just like that but instead was treated to something better- a gravy like consistency of mushrooms with three toasts in the side. Very savory dish though I wish it was creamier but nevertheless I enjoyed it. Beef cheek hash- the combo of the shredded beef cheek and mashed potatoes over toast topped with an egg needed a little more hollandaise sauce and seasoning. Otherwise the flavor was soft, the meat was soft not dry. A solid choice for a breakfast spot if you're in the area.

Yelp
In New Zealand, Yelp isn't popular it seems so finding food places was hard; however, I came across this place and I'm sure glad I did! I think asking the locals where to eat is your best bet for finding things to eat. There is only street parking in which is nearby. So I arrived around the lunch hour and it was quite busy, I had to clean off my own table and seat myself before the table was to be taken by others. You self-serve your own water. The vibes of the place is very relaxing, a good place I'd say for a quick business meet or coffee run. The menu selection is vast. So much to choose from and they all sound delicious. The pastries that were in the display you can't help but get one. I ordered the mushroom dip and braised lamp, AMAZING! Be sure to try any of the pasties though, you wont' regret it. I ordered a fruit tart, coconut macaroon, and a slice of pear apple pie. If you are in Rotorua, be sure to stop here.

Yelp
This place was our go to place in Rotorua. It has everything you need. We walked here every morning for coffee. Their breakfast items are delicious and their desserts fantastic. They've got gluten free items as well. Service was great and it never took too long to get drinks or food. We really liked the menu because they had well rounded meals and they all tasted delicious. Now that we are home from vacation we miss it! Open a Capers in Nashville TN, PLEASE!!!!!!

Sydney S.

Yelp
Nothing special - food was fine but felt really overpriced for what we got. Pretty much everything about this was mediocre.

Yelp
This place provides great shelf food for take away, travelers can find familiar food here, there is even an area to buy tea/coffee/snacks. I recommend trying the beet salad, you'll be surprised how much you like it. Prices were a bit high for what you're getting, but the quality is high.

Yelp
A great place for breakfast!!! It's a counter service so you should place an order before sitting in a table. The coffee was really good and they had a quick service which I really liked because we were on a hurry. Their menu provides a lot of options and I went with the lentil and tomato. It was really good, I would only ask for an extra poached given that one egg felt isn't enough. I also ordered French toast and substituted the bacon with extra fruit. The French toast was really good as well and I highly recommend ordering it if you have sweet tooth.

Yelp
Loved the food here so much during breakfast we came back for dinner. Lots of clearly marked gluten and dairy free options and good choices for vegan as well.

Yelp
This was our first night night in New Zealand and it couldn't have started out better. After 16hours on the plane and 3 hours driving on the left side of the road we found this gem. This is a large clean open space that you order your food at the counter. The staff was all young, super helpful and energetic. Our food was delivered by Sunil who although only a three year resident of Rotorua area was without prompting more than willing to give us the lay of the land. Now for the reason for our visit. The food was outstanding. My wife enjoyed the chicken, mushroom and bacon in cream sauce served over linguine. I could not avoid ordering the Beef Wellington. How they kept the steak a perfect medium rare is beyond me but it was that as well as juicey and very flavorful. Although the portion sizes for both entres were huge the dessert cabinet called my name. We split a piece of chocolate tart with a very large dollop of whipped cream. Everything was yummy, fresh and nicely presented. The breakfast menu looked grand so we might be back in the morning. All and all a great vacation resturant.

Yelp
If you're staying in central Rotorua, Capers should be your breakfast spot. This lovely spot is filled with locals and service with smiles. The tasty breakfasts aren't the cheapest in New Zealand, but they are big and beautiful. My $23NZ Salmon Eggs Benedict came with 3 eggs instead of the usual 2, and some crispy potatoes. If you're having a late breakfast, this will be enough to tide you until dinner time. If you're not too hungry, the glass displays are filled baked temptations to satisfy every taste.

Yelp
Capers Epicurean is a beautiful place for breakfast. The staffs are nice and the service is great. There is a variety of meal for your selection. The food is very filling and delicious! I travelled with my sibling for a breakfast meal. We both took the signature dishes which were the "eggs benedict" and the "capers consttutonal". A great place and will return for sure on my next trip to Rotorua!

Yelp
We had read many really good reviews of this place and our expectations were suitably elevated prior to walking in. I was still so impressed. Our party of six and a child all found something delightful. The celiac/gluten free person loved a slice of mascarpone Doris plum cake. The baby loved his free bowl of yogurt. The vegetarian raved over his veggie eggs Benedict. It was, simply put, wonderful. My only complaint is that prices were a bit steep. However, for a breakfast this memorable, I would make a trip there if in the area. One member of our group was so enthusiastic about the food, she purchased extra to go for a later meal. Overall, would highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I'm happy we had a coupon which gave us two main meals with two glasses of wine. This permitted us to indulge in desserts at the end and we were both happy campers. The beef was cooked to perfection and my lamb was delicious although could be cooked slightly more.

Yelp
Went twice while in rotorua. On our first day we just went for an afternoon coffee and some cake and came back for breakfast the next morning. They have great choices and everything we tried tasted delicious! Highly recommend!

Yelp
"Capers" is the first place I stopped at after driving from Auckland to Rotorua. It has a great choice of meals, sandwiches and cakes and their breakfast/brunch menu is available until 2pm (if I'm not mistaken). I was delighted with my eggs Benedict with salmon and even managed to squeeze in a slice of their cheesecake. Their cakes cabinet is so full of temptations! This is the kind of place where one orders at the counter so I felt the prices were a bit steep. But the quality and taste was there so Capers is on my list of places to go back to!

Yelp
Good selection at breakfast. Food is very filling. French toast and bacons were tasty, the compote was a nice accompanient. We also got the eggs benedict ( with ham swapped out for avocado and spinach). There were three eggs, that alone is already a winner to us. The place itself was very busy at 11am, service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
The food was excellent, service was quick (we were trying to catch a movie at nearby theater). The place has a nice sit down area, a great food/smoothie/drinks selection. Would love to return.

Yelp
Omg! We landed to this place because we felt we needed a great meal. At first I got surprised by the look of the place. Family restaurant/coffee shop/boutique style was something I had never seen before. I was wondering if they do so much can they do one thing really well or its all gonna be so so. I was so delighted by my meal. The steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce perfectly balanced. My potatoes were golden roasted. My dessert (brownies) was the closest thing to a real brownie I had in a restaurant in a very long time. The only negative, the house wine, I would only use that cr.. to cook. Close to a 5 star. Service was fast and efficient. It could have a bit warmer but at this point it's just me being picky. ;)

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast and wasn't disappointed! This place has a great selection in the menu and the attached pic should give you and idea what they offer. Truly amazing....

Yelp
Beautiful coffee- especially chai lattes. Their cabinet selections are lovely and I can never resist a piece of cake. I really recommend their eggs bene, delicious. Really nice friendly staff and it's always a nice cosy environment, always vases of pretty flowers. It's just such a nice place to eat out or have coffee and cake.

Yelp
The atmosphere and staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts especially the muffins were excellent. It is comfortable, high quality and not expensive. We passed up the breakfasts that were included with our hotel to go there twice for breakfast. Definitely recommend it when in Rotorua.

Labindc G.

Yelp
Solid good choice. It is located in a quieter area of town. A nice combination of deli and off the menu options.

Yelp
"Fantastic cabinet food" I visited capers for the second this week and I impressed both times. The cabinet food they have always looks amazing. I had the rolled pork roast which was yum and their peanut butter cheesecake was amazing. Already planning my next visit

Yelp
I had breakfast here two days in a row, and it was delicious. The coffee is superb. They have an assortment of homemade muffins and pastries, but I wanted eggs. The first day, I had the eggs Benedict - they come with 3 eggs - and it was perfect. The next day, I had the avocado omelet, which was fluffy and very nice, but the eggs Benedict were superior. The quality of all the ingredients is really first-rate, the atmosphere is casual and quiet. Lots of space and lots of seating. Really a nice place for a great breakfast.

Yelp
If you can't decide where to go for brunch, just pick this place and go. A little expensive, but you won't be disappointed by the quality. Don't get coco smoothie, def order lentils and oatmeal. Friendly staff and interesting decor.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Visiting from the U.S. and someone mentioned Capers. We went for breakfast and the granola was spectacular. But if you are into BIG breakfasts The Big One is a clear choice. We so enjoyed breakfast that we went back for dinner and were equally pleased with the lamb and duck options. Casual dining but with the flavor of a very good restaurant.

Rick B.

Yelp
Although this is a full restaurant, I just came to pick up some coffees. Flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes, all done really well

Samara L.

Yelp
Really nice staff. Food was very good and beautifully presented. Hot menu and prepared foods have something for everyone.

Yelp
This place has beautiful, healthy food. Was the perfect dinner after hitting the Polynesian Spa. Not overly cheap, but worth every penny! Desserts were also scrumptious! Would highly recommend this.

Karim M.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff always willing to help. Child friendly with dedicated play/tv room to keep them occupied. Great salad and dessert counters which vary to keep you coming back again for more.
