"A Good Trail For Biking Melbourne has a convenient Bike Share program with rental spots throughout the city. Unfortunately, most of its beautiful parks are off-limits to bikes. This trail, however, is not. It's located on the south side of the Yarra River and makes for a delightful ride."

This trail is a really good way to get a feel for all that Melbourne has to offer. Nature, quiet suburbs, bustling city. The bike trail is hard to track if you don’t have the proper directions and it was flooded in the Merri Creek section when we went in July. I suggest you do your research if you’re a first timer. But once you know the route, it is very easy and enjoyable.

With the increased number of cyclists in Melbourne this could be a wonderful activity. Sadly however, years of neglect has meant it will probably be a frustrating and sometimes dangerous outing, especially with young or novice riders. The signage is absolutely hopeless, leading to many wrong turns, dead-ends and then cycling through busy suburban roads as you try to find your way back to the trail. In its current state, I would be embarrassed to recommend this to anyone.

Decent ride but absolutely terribly marked (when going clockwise around). Especially around Flemington Bridge station. 2022 EDIT: still terribly marked going clockwise (Costco, Flemington bridge) and parts are closed for repairs (near Fairfield)
