Welcome to the best credit card lounge at JFK. That's right, I said it.
The lounge is nestled in Terminal 4. Once you clear security, go downstairs and turn to the left. Keep walking until you pass Swarovski, and you'll find your destination.
Upon entering the lounge, you find one of the best parts about this lounge: the attentive staff. During our visit, the lounge was between rushes, so we were checked in immediately and quickly found a seat next to the food. At the food bar was a variety of single-serving dishes for us to try. I opted for the panzanella salad and a caprese-like crostini. There wasn't enough sauce to bring the panzanella together, but the crostini was excellent. On each table is a QR code you can scan to order hot food from the kitchen. During our visit, the menu included that most delicious slider and a surprisingly delicious mini bowl of mac and cheese. All the hot food items are free, so order or pick up as many as you'd like.
I'm going to take a moment here to once again call out this lounge's excellent service. The staff in the seating area keeps an eye on you and doesn't let a collection of dirty dishes sit on your table for very long. Tables in lounges aren't very big to begin with, and if there are two of you, table real estate is even more scarce. However, you won't have to worry about that as much due to the incredible table bussing team.
Dining at the Capitol One Lounge features a dessert bar. During our visit, it included cinnamon rolls, apple turnovers, and some chocolate offerings. Next to the desserts, you'll find to-go bags. One of my favorite things about Cap One Lounges is that they know you have a flight ahead of you, so they encourage you to take items with you. On the other side of the coffee bar, there's a snack area with more to-go bags so you can load up on snacks for your flight. I took full advantage of the BBQ corn nuts they had on hand for the flight.
I glossed over it, but yes, there is a coffee bar to get your caffeine fix. They also offer tea, matcha, and hot chocolate. At the coffee bar, you'll also find prepackaged food items to enjoy at the lounge or on your flight. And we can't forget that you can order Ess-a-bagels if you missed them during your time in the city.
One of the more unique experiences at this lounge is the cheese-and-wine tasting. Located just past the food stations, you'll find this experience. Unfortunately, the timing of our flight did not work out for us to try it. Hopefully, next time.
Speaking of alcohol, you're able to pick your poison at the extreme opposite end of the lounge. There's plenty of seating at the bar and quite a few tables in the bar area. Capital One didn't cut corners here. There is an extensive cocktail menu for you to choose from that isn't just limited to offshoots of standard cocktails, some of which come from some of the city's most popular bars. The beer and wine options are also no joke, having been well curated. Finally, as the sun hits the horizon, the lounge passes out glasses of bubbles to its patrons to celebrate sunset and wish you well on your flight.
The bar is staffed by enough bartenders to put some of NYC's most famed bars to shame. It's clear that Capital One doesn't want people standing around waiting for their order, and even when the lounge hit its rush, people didn't have to, thanks to the well-staffed bar. If you decide to sit at the bar, you're in for a good time. The bartenders are funny, personable, and just a joy to be around.
If you're still with me after all of that, I think it's safe to say that the Capitol One Lounge at JFK is worth your time. It offers something for everyone and, just as importantly, offers you something for your time in the air.
