The hotel has not been well maintained. The suite we were given had holes in the wall in multiple locations, the electrical plugs did not all work and some of them appeared damaged/unsafe. The TV satellite system is not properly set up, so C-SPAN was the only channel with both good audio and video, the other channels were either very fuzzy and hard to see or lacked sound or both. They claimed it was the weather, but the sky was clear with only a light wind. The kitchen had no can opener. The blind in the living room was missing pieces and so could not be fully closed. The blind in the bedroom was missing a string to move it up and down - you can see where the string was removed. There was no Kleenex in the room. The tap for the tub did not shut off properly without a lot of finagling.

The tv reception is horrible. Internet is good for 2005 not 2024. Very outdated for the times concerning entertainment. Think of this during long cold winter nights in a town that has questionable levels of entertainment. Hotel staff seem very incompetent when it comes to dealing with rude noisy drunk locals that seem to be partying in the hotel. I questioned the night clerk for the disturbance at 245 am and why she felt the need to be on speaker phone while on her phone after unsuccessfully dealing with the noisy party. No room service.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Very clean, comfortable, and the staff were wonderful. Particularly, Nuhamin. She was so friendly and helpful with suggestions I was seeking. First rate customer service. I also greatly appreciated the laundry services on the 3rd floor. Though of the two stays, one window had no shade to block the all-night sun and that was unpleasant.

Very friendly staff. Rooms are clean and during your stay they clean when requested (which is fine by me). Internet is my only real issue. They give you a log in with password that is only good for a couple of days at a time. You end up needing to pick one up frequently.

The walls are filthy. No housekeeping for a week!!? Even though i asked multiple times. The ovens are unclean and smelly. I stripped the bedding and full of yellow stains on pillows, the bed. And had to ask for the full set and put them on myself. The rugs are disgusting. The dishes are broken and full of stuck on grease. The garbage bins are dirty. The chairs and couch are full of stains. Tired of cleaning everything in the kitchen suite. So sad. So tired. The Mackenzie Hotel is a much more better place to go!

Stayed for 2 nights. Walked in and found A/C unit didn't work, TV cable ripped out of the TV, the fan switch was half broken and required playing with to get the fan to work, the shower nozzle was half broken so taking a shower was awkward. The customer laundry (on floor 3) was free to use which was a bonus, buuuuut, 1 washer was out of order, and one dryer wasn't producing heat so tumbled clothes but wouldn't dry them. The whole reason I chose this place was to do laundry for the second half of my road/camping trip. I suspect Management doesn't give 2 craps about their employee's. Also suspect the employee's are checked out and don't care due to the way this place is run. I asked about where the laundry is and all I got was 3rd floor. Find a sign on the laundry door saying detergent available from second floor vending machine. Search second floor for vending machine. Nothing. Head back to lobby, ask for soap, they sell soap at the front desk. Why have a miss leading sign? Why not say up front, Need some soap? Nope, wild goose chase. There is literately a sign in the elevator asking guests to recycle their cans with the hotel so the employees can get a bonus. People are paying 200 a night to stay here, and you fix nothing. I'm sure you can afford to pay your employee's better. Should of booked the Mackenzie Hotel. Capital Suites say 3 star (which is laughable). The 2 star Mackenzie (which I went to their restaurant for breakfast one morning) Is more 3 star and up-kept than Capital Suites.

Best described as a limited service motel (stress on ‘limited’) that is screaming for some capital investment. Temperature controls in the room do not work. Very hot, all the time. Our first room had no air conditioning ( to counteract that heat). But there was a hole in the wall for the a/c unit’s port that had a towel stuffed in it. The new room was equally hot, but had a/c. The room was never serviced, though we asked. And internet is at best spotty and weak. Excuses were made, half-heartedly, but other locations in Inuvik had no problems. And you had to jiggle the toilet handle to get it to stop running. The place is clean (when they do clean). Go the MacKenzie Hotel instead.

Important things to note: Staff were courteous and kind; There seems to be a staff shortage.||We arrived on a Wednesday and checked in. We had booked a junior suite from the website (I think this is a standard room but that's not what I thought I was getting when I booked it). No one else was able to check-in who flew in from Yellowknife. They waited in the lobby for 2+ hours, not certain how we were lucky enough to get into our room and others could not.||I booked this hotel because it's newer and it had amenities such as the market where you can get small grocery items such as milk or eggs (based on the photos from the Capital Suites website). Inuvik's Capital Suites does not have these items. They have something that looks like a "canteen" from your camp days as a kid. We didn't get anything from the Capital Suites market and went to the local grocery store down the street. The stock photos online do not match the reality of the hotel, IMO.||I'm not certain if it's due to a shortage in staff but the hotel is dirty. I get why as many companies come here so there are a lot of guests who work in the field, but dust, dirt, and grime is everywhere in the public spaces. The fireplace is covered in dirt and people left their footprints on the base just because they could. The stairs are covered in dirt. Our room still had garbage left over from the previous guests (pizza boxes, chip bags etc). We did a few minor repairs while we were in the room, the door stopper was hanging off the wall, we fixed it. Upon entering the room, we discovered that the air conditioning unit was leaking water everywhere so we tried to mop it up with the items in our room (not easy to do with carpet but we definitely left the room in better condition then when we arrived). Not what I typically would think I'd have to do on a vacation trip, but getting staff was tricky. Again, when we did have any conversations with a staff member, they were kind. ||We ate at the restaurant at the Mackenzie Hotel. That establishment is in way better condition and I'd highly recommend it over Capital Suites. We entered in through the lobby whenever we were going to the restaurant & someone was always cleaning, dusting, and mopping floors. The Capital Suites had a clean bed and hot showers but for $203 a night, I expect a little bit more. I'd think the price would be fair if the hotel was cleaner and in better condition than it currently is.
