Overall, the food was tasty. I had a breakfast burrito and an order of corned beef hash. The breakfast burrito was enough to share. It was a standard sized burrito, but the eggs and chorizo inside were very fulfilling. The corned beef hash was good, but it was also a bit salty. However, I still would order it again. I didn't like that there was a piece of food in my water

Food was sooo good!!! Wait staff was good. Highly recommend. Just wish they would have came around to fill our coffees and water more but they were a little busy.

Great new menu. Kept the classics and added some refreshing choices like chicken and waffles and huevos ranchero. The chorizo portion was generous. The flavors of mimosas is also really fun. Tried the jalapeño pineapple - nice heat without being overwhelming.

My friend and I came to Capitol Cafe for breakfast and it was incredible! From the fresh squeezed orange juice to the omelette with hashbrowns, everything was amazing! Morgan was our server and she was fantastic! Very attentive and sweet! Will definitely be back!

Malita is a fantastic server! She’s so friendly, quick, and efficient! She didn’t ever allow our coffee to run low or get cold. It’s amazing to see people stay employed at the same place for a longer time, it speaks volumes to the quality of the restaurant and staff.

6 of us went out for brunch... a suitable send-off for an upcoming hip replacement. Great food, great drinks, and great company. The first time here for all of us, & we will be back!! Drew, our waiter was exceptional. He knew the menu inside and out and made excellent drink suggestions and was so incredibly personable! My Bloody Mary was perfection. A little sweet, a little spicy, & incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice! Worth the extra cost. We had the Hawaiian omelet, the caramel apple crepes, the chicken and waffles, the vegetarian omelet, and more. All the food was very good & generous portions! Thank you to everyone at Capitol Cafe for a lovely Sunday brunch!!

My family and I used to be regulars here, but we have officially stopped going. The experience at Capital Cafe has become consistently horrible, particularly for Sunday breakfast. It doesn't seem to matter if they are busy or completely empty; the service is painfully slow every single time. The Main Issues: Initial Wait: It regularly takes 15 to 20 minutes just for someone to acknowledge you, take an order, or even bring a simple cup of coffee. Lack of Basic Service: Once you finally get your coffee, don't expect a refill. They never come back to check on the table. The Staff: One of the older, seasoned servers acts like she doesn't give a damn about the customers. There is a total lack of urgency or care. The Wait Times: Even on slow days, the food takes forever to come out of the kitchen. Management Problems: The new management (the Indian family running the place) seems completely indifferent to these issues. Whenever a complaint is made, they just offer the same tired excuses about being "too busy." This is Brookfield, not India--customers here expect a basic standard of professional service that is currently non-existent. It is baffling why people continue to patronize this establishment. If you value your time and want to be treated like a paying customer, stay away. We won't be back.

A nice place with good food. But stay away from the egg lemon soup - bad. (Egg lemon soup ?). I was there with a group, and various items were ordered. Everything looked good.

Nice little breakfast joint in Brookfield. Seems very popular with local senior crowd.....kinda place where one could easily become a "regular." Prices seem ok but with recent inflation, it's hard to tell. What is obvious is that portion sizes are large. The hash browns were a bit too crunchy (which is better than not crispy), and the corn beef was a tad too salty ergo, lost 1 star. The pancakes were fluffy and came with a nice mini-pitcher of syrup. Service was friendly and homey and prompt.

I used to love this place. Im not sure but i feel like it has a new owner since the pandemic. They used to have a different sign out front that had some kind of downstairs greek restaurant. Now the new sign just says capitol cafe and it says all new menu. The food previously was very good. I loved their cherry topped waffle. And they had really good french fries. NOT ANYMORE. Coated fries - yuck. They did have a couple of very interesting waffles on the menu. I tried one with fire roasted apples, walnuts, and caramel sauce. My wife had something else which was good but it came with toast. One slice was basically untoasted, the other burnt. So they brought her two more. Also burnt. A third try brought more burnt toast. She will NOT go back. I would for a waffle or a slice of lemon meringue pie. Hopefully the pie is as good as it was under prevous owner. I didn't have room to try it. So i would give it 4 stars except for the fries and toast issue. Restaurant is large, clean, and has plenty of free parking. Menu is GREATLY Reduced since they are no longer open for dinner. They used to have an incredible menu. Lack of dinner hours and menu reductions are a disappointment for me. They do have a friday fish fry but haven't tried it and probably won't since the fries are a disappointment. And they need to fix their toaster.

First off, they have really made some serious improvement with the decor and provided an updated food menu at this place. The service has always been phenomenal at this place. The owner takes a lot of pride in his restaurant and he does use local Wisconsin farmers to source his ingredients as well, so props to him and our lovely server today.

Came on a Friday evening for the fish fry. Service was quick and we were in and out under and hour. Had the beer batter cod with potato pancakes, a salad, and apple sauce. They even gave us maple syrup for the potato pancakes. The fish was flakey, tender and breading was delicious. Pancakes were crispy and flavorful. Would definitely come back to try out breakfast too.

Owner Shachen Shah does not want to pay remaining half balance of painting job because of minor cleaning and fixable touch ups on paint that we were willing to correct but he is very clear and making excuses that he will not pay. We admit to have took a couple days late but we were there everyday except rainy days which has been a lot of for the past month trying to do the best painting job we could and he wants to take advantage and not pays us what we agreed.

New management ruined the place Food used to be good and now it's not Eat there only if you're going for a colonoscopy

We stopped here on a Saturday at 1045am. They were busy , but still had a few tables available. Service was excellent. After we were seated, a gentleman came over with water and asked if we would like coffee. I had the Greek skillet, it comes with toast or pancakes. I choose the pancakes. I was expecting 2 small thin cakes, but received 2 large , thick pancakes. Served with warm syrup. The Greek skillet came with a side of Tzatziki. My wife had the Veggie skillet with sourdough toast. Everything we had was delicious. I see why they are always busy. Priced was fair as were the portions. I can't wait to go back.

HORRENDOUS OWNER AND RESTAURANT MANAGER I recently visited Capitol Café and while the experience started off well, it quickly soured because of one major issue: the manager and owner. Let me start by saying the food was good, and our server was absolutely fantastic. They were attentive, friendly, and quick. We felt taken care of, and honestly, they saved the day. Unfortunately, our experience took a turn when we had an interaction with the manager and owner. When we went to pay, we encountered a problem. The debit/credit card machine stopped working. We tried several times, but the manager stated he had been having the issue all morning. This was at about 11:00am. There was no sign saying it was cash only and the manager was dismissive and beyond rude. Instead of comping the meal or even providing a large discount so that we could pay with the cash we had on hand, the manager demanded we go to an ATM or come back with cash before 3:00pm to pay our bill. We do not live just down the road. There was no apology from him either. I told him to speak to the owner because this was not our fault, and I did not want to drive to an ATM and pay a fee to take out money since it was THEIR machine that wasn't working for any customer. He told me to give him the name of any restaurant that would give a large discount and/or comp for this type of issue because "none will" according to him. I couldn't believe how unprofessional and cold the manager and owner were. I was appalled! I'm not the type of person to leave my bill unpaid, so I drove to an ATM. I was beyond livid at how I was treated by both of them for a problem that was the restaurant's fault. It's a shame, really, because the food and our server were both great. I used to be a regular customer as well. The manager and owner really left a bad taste in my mouth, and I will not be returning as long as they're running the show. To the server: you were amazing, and you definitely deserve better than that! You've been there for many years and I hope you leave soon.

Come hungry, and expect leftovers! While the prices are a little high, the service sizes are MASSIVE. We went for brunch around 10:30, and it was pretty quiet. Service was really quick. The restaurant is dated, the tables and decor are definitely older. The food is on par with other mid-tier brunch places in the Milwaukee area.

Went to Capitol Cafe for brunch right before the contingency started, and I had an Athenian omelette that was fantastic. Even though it was way too big, it had plenty of vegetables inside. I enjoyed this visit to Capitol Café, and totally made up for my previous visit! I like to see that they offer a special menu for seniors. Best wishes to Capitol Café during this contingency!

If you are looking for a good hardy breakfast at a reasonable price-this it the place to go. Met a couple of friends here yesterday, making it a party of 4. We were promptly seated. Staff were all masked and they had every other table blocked off for social distancing, The breakfast menu is huge but we settled on 3 Athenian Omelets and a Short Stack of strawberry pancakes. The omelets are 3 eggs with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, and feta cheese. I was able to substitute the swiss cheese for the feta. Comes with hashbrowns and a choice of pancakes or toast, We all chose pancakes and we each got an individual serving of warm maple syrup. I was expecting the strawberry pancakes to have the same strawberry topping that most restaurants serve but they were served freshly sliced strawberries, making these pancakes a healthy choice. Of course, we all had leftovers. Sorry, no pictures but we had already eaten before I thought about it.

The new menu is ridiculous! Did anyone spellcheck? The font is small, the prices on some foods are listed incorrectly and the spelling is off. And most of the Greek options are gone, for those who come here for that. It's just an old-fashioned greasy spoon now. Sad to see.

I happen to be in this area and needed a quick bite so I stopped here and was so happy to receive such excellent service. This place is an American Greek diner.. initially yelp showed me a Greek place but their name said pancake house so I kept looking until I went inside and asked for the Greek place only to learn that they both are the same. The owner was at the reception and I told him my urgency so he recommended me a few quick bites and even went back inside and helped the kitchen expedite it for me. He was super polite and very efficient! Understanding a customers need is highly regarded so thank you! Now coming to the food .. I ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Simple grilled ingredients, spiced perfectly and chicken was absolutely tender. This came with fries or a soup. Heart wanted the fries but mind opted for the healthy protein option of soup :) The soup was delicious and very filling - so glad I got that. Overall I felt like I had a very hearty meal. Special thanks to the owner who understood the urgency and worked on it.

We have been picking up fish from here for 30+ years. Unfortunately, tonight was our last time. The meal was awful. The coleslaw left an aftertaste, the fish was overbreaded and some bites had only fried bread & no fish! It is sad to see this long time favorite of ours go downhill, but it has.

Delightfully relaxing restaurant, family run, and with an amazing selection of food to choose from. My husband can enjoy crepes while I indulge in Liver (which the family won't let me cook at home LOL). The prices are very reasonable, and they even offer dessert with your meal at no extra cost. Great place to quietly chat and the staff are great... I love to get a baklava slice to go (homemade as is a lot of the menu).

We haven't been there for breakfast in over a year but we gave it a try yesterday. My eggs benedict was served on a toasted hamburger bun, not an English muffin , and my husband's omelette was dry and toasty brown yet there was water on the plate. The only good thing was the pancake but needless to say we won't be going back.

Super sad to say but we have loved coming here over the years and in the past few months it's just not been the same. Came for breakfast this morning most of the food was cold and my husband had a black hair in his food. The waitress was very apologetic but unfortunately we all lost our appetite and basically had thrown away all three of our breakfasts.

Sad to see one of our favorite restaurants going downhill. Our first warning was only 3 people in the joint. Everything is reduced. Hours, service and quality. Egg-lemon soup had half the rice as usual. Only got 1 pancake in place of toast instead of 2. Gyro meat was light in flavor. Did not get the bread with soup. My wife did not ever get her fries. Cheaping out on the customer

A solid, family owned restaurant that serves really good food, has a large menu and a full bar. My last meal there was lunch; I had a Caesar salad, chopped and tossed with grated parm. It was topped with a VERY large grilled and diced chicken breast and garnished with slices of tomato and a hard boiled egg, cut in half. Wow. Really good. (See my picture). My buddy had the Turkey Club. He thinks it rates right up there with the best of them. Service is efficient, fast and the young lady who served us seemed happy to do so. Plenty of parking in their own lot.

I came by today to have some breakfast and a Mimosa since I just got off my early shift. Staff was nice but when I ordered my Mimosa I seen that the Orange slice they put on it was old. I told them I wasn't sure if I was going to eat yet so they didn't even give me a menu until I asked for it. I notice the "tiny" glass they poured my drink in was cracked and broken. This is my first time here and they made a bad impression so I won't be back.

The food was okay. The food lacks some flavor and the pancakes were a bit dry. The food overall was slightly above Denny's in quality. A bit of a nice home style feel. Service was good and the ambience was moderate at best. The table felt like it was one sneeze away from breaking a leg.

Food is excellant - go to restaurant when we are pressed for time. Very accommodating for changes to menu items for taste, allergies, etc. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Also has a bar if a bloody, beer, etc. is what you are looking for with your meal. You can call for a take out/pickup. See the pics on this app for ideas about food and atmosphere. The breakfast here is really good. I've ordered the Western Omelette both times, and it's terrific. Mammoth in size, I love that the peppers and onions are crunchy. The inside is cheesy and moist. I also had a couple of pancakes. Good stuff. The waitress was extremely friendly and humorous, but she lost track of us for about 15 minutes. So we had to wait to get our bill well after we completed breakfast. Minor thing, though. I would recommend this place for the food. Friendly people. Large menu of options.

Super friendly. Excellent home made Greek food plus a wide variety of diner options. Clean. Full bar. What's not to love? And make sure you try the Greek wines for a different and outstanding experience.

We stopped here on the way home from climbing at Adventure Rock. It was busy, but there was still decent parking. As we walked in we were seated right away. I noticed they were clearing tables pretty quickly so they could keep the wait short. The server came over immediately and asked for our drink orders and to drop off a very extensive menu. It was several pages long of breakfast and a few pages of lunch and dinner. There were pancakes, waffles, egg specials, benedicts, oatmeals, "healthy" options, skillets and side orders. I ordered an Athenian omelet that came with two pancakes and hashbrowns, and I ordered a side of sausage patties. I ate 1/4 of a heaping omelet, the pancakes, and the sausage patties, which were tasty. My meal was less than $11 before tip! Oh, and my friend ordered links, which I tasted, and they weren't bad either, they tasted like bratwurst - and if you're from Wisconsin, bratwurst sausage links mean delicious! In addition to decent food, the service was great. Our waitress was really kind and she brought our food within 10 minutes ordering as well as a coffee refill, chatting us up each time. The portions were large, the food was greasy, and the prices were reasonable..I recommend it for a lazy Saturday morning with your grandparents or parents. :)

I have been reviewing breakfast places and I have to say the Capitol cafe is constantly the best. They know how to make sunny side up eggs. I have been all over the breakfast menu and it is all good. The gyro and eggs are the best around period. This is a drive for me out of my neighborhood but worth it. It's under $10.00 and is my place of choice when I want a good breakfast.

4 pitas (just the bread) 2 sides of rice and a side of gyro sauce. They tried to charge me 23.80. I said 2.50 per pita??? He took 2 bucks off the bill. So I paid 21.80 very reluctantly. F*#k this crap hole and the dude who runs the joint for trying to rip me off. I'm sure I'm not the first or last unfortunately.

This restaurant has no wait time yet we sat and waited to be served for over 10minutes. Once we were finally served they weren't even aware that we were sat. After we were greeted we waited and additional 10minutes for our waitress and to be waited. Once our food got to our table we were greeted to an amazing plate of cold pancakes and French toast! Best experience ever and wouldn't recommend it!

We stopped by for breakfast! What large servings! We had eggs, sausage, french toast, pancakes, and more.... My husband and I had quite a fill. They were busy, which meant it wasn't a quick in and out. However, the servers were still attentive. We will be back with they children next time! I want to sample some of the Grecian food items.

Yum! We ordered food to go from here during quarantine and it was super quick and just as delicious as dining in! You get large portions for a good price. The pancakes are amazing! Highly recommend!

Packed sun lunch time. They seated 4 of us within 10-15 min. Another 10 min n order was taken and food was out 10 min after that. Wait staff was quick and considerate. And breakfast served all day !!! Everything very tasty and price was okay too. Will definitely come back and tell my friends to as well !! I had Greek skillet w pancakes Everything tasted Delish and just the right amount of food.

Two different cups of coffee with lipstick still on the dirty cup. 'Nuff said. I am not sure how I get past the dirty dishes. The wait staff was, uh, well a little rough? The wheels on the chairs where interesting. Did I mention I received two cups of coffee that had old lipstick on the edge.

Cute cafe with typical American as well as Greek fare. Fast and friendly service. I got the corned beef hash skillet with poached eggs- it was delicious! We also got the veggie omelet (not super flavorful but healthy and great with hot sauce) which came with a generous helping of hash browns. Each also came with a choice of 2 pancakes, 2 potato pancakes, or toast. We choose pancakes and potato pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and yummy (but not real maple syrup). The potato pancakes were Greek style and had a lot of onions and weren't my personal favorite. All of this was for a little over $20 with tax and the portions were huge. Two meals will feed the two of us for breakfast and lunch! Overall, great value for a solid diner experience.

We go here all the time. I get the gyro and it is always so big and you get a lot for your money. The gyro is delicious! We always take it home and eat it the next day since it's so big! The breakfast is also very good here. I just can't tell you enough how good the gyro is!

I've come here 4x for Sunday brunch after church and my order is screwed up every time! $20 and still hungry. Go to Denny's

We have not been to this restaurant in awhile, but ended up here today, Sunday, because other places were so busy. It was somewhat busy when my husband and I got there, but we were seated promptly. Waitress was prompt and our food came out quickly. Breakfast omelets were very good. We will be back. They have much improved since the last time we were here, which was probably sometime before Covid hit. Much more cleaner too.

Better than the corporate chain pancake diners, this is a Greek-American family run business that specializes in your high cholesterol blue collar breakfasts. The full name is the Capitol Cafe Pancake House and Restaurant, it's a family restaurant, four pages of breakfast, one page each of lunch and supper choices on the menu. Service is friendly, informal, and fast, the kind of place where your coffee mug stays full, and waitresses call you "honey." Most of the clientele are regulars, and overweight. They have their own ample parking lot, the place seems clean.

This soggy gross looking pile of yuck is supposed to be a tuna melt. On top of that the waiter has ignored our table and the fact that my plate has been shoved over to the edge of the table since he brought it. After watching my husband finish his food with no attention from wait staff at all, I felt compelled to make sure I warned others against eating here.

Service was horrible. Ceilings were caked in dust cobwebs that looks like it has never been cleaned.10 people standing around before the church crowd shows up however nobody wanted to serve us and servers talking loudly about how they don't want to be there. FOOD QUALITY WAS TERRIBLE. BURNT TOAST WHICH WE HAD TO TELL A BUS BOY ABOUT. GREAT MEAL.....WILL NEVER BE BACK!

The food is excellent, but the waitress is not friendly and greeted me with a scowl and said "you know what you want?" In a very displeasing tone. Disappointed in the hospitality from her. I'm by myself trying to enjoy a good breakfast and she's really out a damper on my mood. It's 9:51am on Saturday August 31st she's not wearing a name tag but she has bright blue nails and her hair is pulled back in a pony tail and she has what looks like a wrist brace on.

I've eaten at one too many Milwaukee area Greek/Family/Greasy spoons in my years here. Like any Greek-style family restaurant, if you stick to the basics, you should be fine. That being said, I would never order a steak or seafood at one of these places. I've been coming to Capitol since the years it was the Grecian Inn. The portions are large, and the food has consistently been good over the years. One thing that sets Capitol apart from other family restaurants is their variety of Greek entrees. You can never go wrong with their gyro or the spanikotiropita. Sure, one may say that there's no way in hell a place could ruin a gyro. Wrong......I've had some nasty gyros in my lifetime where the meat had been sitting in water all day and came out slimy. Don't think I've ever had a bad gyro here. The meat is consistently tender and usually has a light char. All entrees come with either soup or salad. My choice tends to always be the Greek egg lemon. My family's always ordered sandwiches and/or breakfast, and there have never been any complaints. All in all, Capitol is a reliable place where you can get a good meal at a reasonable price. Stay within boundaries of a family restaurant's menu, and you should be safe!

A slightly nicer version of your average diner - the place is pretty spacious and overall clean. I ordered the corned beef omelet - I know what you're thinking, that's weird, as I also thought that when I saw it on the menu, but I just had to know what it tasted like. Well, I wish I hadn't had wondered since it tasted like an unseasoned soggy meaty egg mixture. However the other two omelets ordered at my table were enjoyed - a "kitchen sink" and a "Athena". The hashbrowns came out crispy however and I had tried the potato pancakes which were okay, nothing special. The eggs benedict according to my husband weren't very good either. The English muffin was stale and the hollandaise was a very weird color that was a fluorescent yellowish orange - he said it tasted okay, but I know he was skeptical eating something that color. The biscuits and gravy didn't fare any better. The biscuit was clearly at least a day old and very dense. The gravy tasted like it came out of a packet/mix. The menu like most diners is too many pages long with too many selections - leaving you wondering what is it that actually tastes good. I will say that the omelets are oversized, making it a good value for the money and they come with hashbrowns and pancakes (or potato in my case, or toast). I didn't have any issues with service - nothing extraordinary, but they certainly checked on us and made sure we got everything we needed. Based on my food selections, I'd probably normally give it two stars, given that I probably wouldn't return, but going to up it to three since I think I probably made some bad decisions when ordering and because other items ordered at my table were enjoyed.

Go to breakfast place with many options and great value! My go to is the eggs platter where you can get hash browns, pancakes, and eggs and more all for like $6. The best and most friendly welcoming service too
