Capitol Casino

It's a great card room. Easy access to and from the freeway for me, slight detours currently due to Sacramento city making upgrades in their metropolitan subway system. The staff is friendly, courteous, and approachable. As with any card room Capitol casino has their own loyal regulars. Capitol does offer food service with a large menu, but last time I ordered looks like the asian menu is only offered after 5pm, everything else in the menu is available at any given moment. Prime Rib Fridays is decent at $25 with all the fixings. They have a full bar with private tables, a cafe and a couple of vending machines. The food in my opinion is good and tasty, but slightly pricey. I like the food servers, they are attentive. Uniformed security officers constantly monitor the room, parking lots, and the surrounding areas makes me feel safe. Especially since there are homeless encampments not far from the card room, you will see some roaming the streets as you drive up to the card room. As I mentioned, they do have security officers and the parking lots are secured by tall metal bar fencing and surveillance equipment. If you're a poker vlogger dont bother trying to make videos to post because it is not allowed by the casino to my knowledge. An exception to the rule is Doug McCusker, who has his own popular poker YouTube channel and I think still runs the casino's poker tournaments, so Doug's membership does have it's privileges. I play recreationally and strictly at Capitol casino since I live north from Sacramento. I usually play a couple of times every other month or so, some of my knowledge of the casino might have changed. Check it out for yourself, Capitol has plenty of poker tables and of course the ubiquitous asian room or as they call it the Dragon room. I recommend the card room, great place to play. Pass by and go find your action.

I have been going to Cap Casino for over 7 years. I have been served by a variety of bartenders in the lounge. Candee has been the best and most consistent bartender ever. She has always been attentive, and her caliber of service and is always top notch. Cap Casino has the best food and reasonable prices in the area.

I only eat the food here, I’m no gambler. But I see people win big but they loose it all because of greed. Don’t be greedy, come and enjoy a big prime rib for 25.99 on Friday. If you gamble however I suggest bringing a friend who can talk some sense into you. it was my first time going to Capitol Casino and IT WILL DEFINITELY BE THE LAST. I played 8 hands in a row and lost every one. i never did I have a strong hand and even when I finally got to 20 at a BJ table, the dealer won with a 21. If you want to have a chance of winning then I recommend going to the Lotus or the Lime light.

Food is delicious, environment is warm and the staff is very friendly! I used to play here quite often and decided to stop by more recently to check out the late night food. The curry is delicious and the beef pho tasted very authentic and probably the best broth we have had in a while. The lounge closes at 1:30 am, so definitely a great late night eat spot. For games, it looks like they have different games of Texas Hold'em like limit and no limit and a Dragon Room with $5 baccarat and California blackjack.

Not the best part of town, however security had eyes on the parking lot and it felt secure. Inside is classic. The place was packed. Played the 10am tourney. Ordered a beer at 10am, cold and delicious. AA on the first hand, one time, all in, double up... #LFG

You don’t deserve him. I wanted to come here with my friends to play with Doug, but I’ll take my money elsewhere.

The food is solid, and the service is great. The atmosphere is great. TVs everywhere in the bar. Tenders are tending cooks are cooking better than red hawk and Thunder hands down. If you are in the area and hungry, hit it up 💯

Really fun card room located off 16th street near Richards blvd on the outskirts of downtown Sacramento. I often come here and try my luck at poker. Have yet to win big here but breaking even feels like a win sometimes. The food here is really exceptional. I kept hearing from friends about how good the small kitchen here is and was blown away when I finally tried it. The smart move it to come in the evening when the Chinese menus opens up. All the Chinese food here is really good. The spicy pork is a favorite of mine. Their fried rice is always good. I also like ordering their house chow mein noodles. The pho here is bomb! It's a huge bowl that they fill with a lot of rice noodles and huge chunks of meat. The broth is amazing. I always try something different here and have yet to have a bad meal.

The food was so yummy. The wait time for the food was within like 15-20 minutes in total. That includes appetizers! The service was friendly & attentive.

Pho here is a bit pricey, but after a night out, it's worth it. Probably one of the best late-night pho spots I've found, consistently hitting the mark when we're in the Capitol area. My family and I often come by after midnight, and while the service is decent, it could be even better if you're a friendly customer. Overall, it's a great place with a nice atmosphere, delicious food, and good times with family.

Came here to see a kings game.. food was ok. Good place to watch sports and small bite... but they do have a full menu.

we heard about their menu for chinese food and wanted to try their entrees. Staff were extremely pleasant which contributed to an enjoyable meal. we ordered the following: 1) chicken sliders: tasty was our friends response and she enjoyed her sweet potato fries The chicken patties were deep fried and uniformed in shape- which probably means pre shaped frozen 2) club house: OMG- huge and the sandwich was good. also prepared without mayo as requested. The turkey slices didn't appear to be from a freshly roasted bird but it also wasn't a cheap packaged deli cut either. crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes- would order again 3) Spicy garlic shrimp and fish fillet: both dishes looked fantastic. tons of garlic and jalapeños-but didn't contain any heat. the shrimp was cooked perfectly but fish fillets were oily. These dishes are "go to" dishes at many Chinese restaurants and although the entrees looked good, i would order these entrees from a Chinese restaurant instead. I would like to try their Pho and won ton soups when the weather gets colder.

This is a great place to play poker. I love their tournaments because, for a reasonable buy-in and a little luck you can walk out with anywhere from 1k to 3k for a first place finish. In my fantasy I would have loved living within walking distance of this place and been able to drop by (and leave) whenever I felt like. I would have been there so much more, but having lived 35 miles away I couldn't do so so freely.I moved to Tennessee recently and miss the place already.

Our favorite late night spot. We have only tried the Asian menu and so far everything we have ordered has been delicious.

We bought a very good ice cream sundae at a very fair price. The bathrooms are very clean. The customer service is very good. We don't gamble so are unable to say much except it's a small quiet casino.

Dropped by to see what this casino had to offer. It has more games than Limelight as well as extra parking and a few more options in regards to food. They are open 24/7 which is a plus. I'll visit again when in town.

My family and I love this place. Their menu is massive, food is tasty, drinks in the bar are proper. I don't see what's not to like. I suspect the bad reviews are from people who've lost money b/c I've been here many times and the service was always good

Stopped by to try the pho - it's good! And they're not stingy with the meat! Oh - there's also a casino here, if you're interested in that LOL + people who walk around & give massages. Nice, chill vibes!

Not sure what is going on at the CC Cafe but they lost their best Server for the morning shift. Alma was always on time opening at 7 am. Alma provided an atmosphere that made customers want to come back for Breakfast or Lunch. Well she is gone and it is a huge loss. I went yesterday for Breakfast and the door was locked with no one seen in the Cafe. I waited several minutes and still no one... I was able to catch the attention of the Chef (Cook) and he came out of the kitchen to look around for someone but there was no one around. This is the 3rd time this has happened. Since I was pressed for time as I have a tight morning schedule for work that I just left and went to Mel's Diner at 29th & J Streets. It is sad when a favorite dining place begins this path....

The food is great and amazingly priced if you need a nice date night with out breaking the bank drinks and food to fill you up under 100$. The ambiance in the place is giving serene and tranquil but still with a low key lounge vibe.. My favorite place to grab a bite to eat.. Never disappoints

The chicken fried steak is the best I've had in California. Hand made gravy. Breading is excellent. Really delicious. A mind blowingly pleasant surprise at a casino.

No slots. Small casino. Had lots of people playing card games though. I only like slots.

Don't waste your money here. You're better off driving to Thunder Valley, where they are held to a higher standard. The games are rigged. Whyelse would they refuse a new deck. Tong and Roger were my dealers.

One of my go to spots for food! Anything you order here will be good. They have an Asian menu after 5pm and it is AMAZING. My go to is the spicy pork with pork fried rice. The chow mein is always delicious. Service is always good. Day time Kris is the man and night shift Anthony is the other man.

Randomly came here on a Saturday night and stayed for way too long haha. Went to the cafe and was pleasantly surprised at how many items were available on the menu. Sadly, they couldn't do the eggs Benedict even though it said 'all day.' Was recommended the pho by our awesome waitress and it was pretty dang good! Definitely a must if you stop by for card games!

Used to be a good place to be, the vibe and attitude is not inviting, Jade, and a lot of the women staff always gives a bias, harassing look and picks and chooses who they are nice to. Pretty disappointed, but another reason they don't get tips or anything from me and many of the guest that come in. It's a place to play, just got to keep complaining about staff until they change things up in here. Just like the other reviews this place is starting to act very entitled. Working less and caring less.

I had the French toast, sausage, and eggs. It was really good, The toast came with 2 eggs, and your choice of bacon or sausage. I had the sausage. I would highly recommend Capitol's food.

My husband and I are avid poker players and decided to stop in on a Saturday night for some poker fun. On arrival there was a security guard outside which was great and made me feel safe. Inside the card room it was packed and buzzing which was nice to see. We waited on the list until our name was called and settled to the bar towards the back while we waited. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. Overall would come back.

I use to frequent this restaurant, steak & eggs were excellent. This morning I went for steak & eggs. I ordered my steak medium rare, I was served a thin well done steak with old rotting fruit. No wonder the restaurant is empty. The sad excuse for a cook was offended when I set back the rotting fruit as well as the hockey puck of a steak he tried to serve me. He had the audacity to be cussing in Spanish which I understand being Mexican American. I won't be returning to eat there ever again. The problem is the fake cook who just doesn't care or concerned with quality. As he put it in Spanish "Vala Vedga" Came over to Brookfield's for delicious steak and eggs with fresh fruit & fresh squeeze OJ.

My meal was delicious! My server/bar tender was David, he was the bomb! The place is a hidden gem amongst the neighborhood. It was remodeled about 10 months ago and is gorgeous inside. I didn't feel like I was downtown at all. Theres EASY PARKING, the have a lot across the street, so you don't have to drive around looking for a place. ENJOY!

I had one of the BEST BEST BEST Bartenders today!!!! Peter was SO amazing! He was very friendly and inviting. Peter was immediately fun, conversational and very relatable. He also had a ton of regulars that were coming in to see him while enjoying dinner and drinks. He was very attentive to every customer coming and going at all times. Peter had great food reccomendations and gave a great run down of the local menu favorites. Peter was very excited to share his love for the place of employment and brag up the owner a bit on how awesome the gentleman was. I could not have had a better, random, Sacramento experience on a flight layover but I am so glad that I did. Thanks again Peter, the world needs more gems like YOU!

I came in and ordered the salt and pepper chicken and instead I got fried fish. My order was to go so I didn't realize they messed up until I was already home. I'm allergic to sea food so this mistake could have cost me. I went to bed hungry and mad.

Excellent food , with both Asian menu and Western menu . I like it with few customers so I can keep my social distances . I did not enter the card room . We were there a few times for lunches and dinner . Huge screen TV for Sports bar . A good place for friends to chat and meet .

Unfortunate experience. I've been here a few times to play poker. It's not my home card room but it's one I'll go to every so often. This most recent time just felt unorganized and out of control. To start off, when I got put onto a table I asked the dealer if I could give her my ID to log me into their tracking system. She called the floor over and reached over the table to hand him my ID. One of the players at the table who I've never seen or met grabbed my ID and said "I want to see where she lives." He saw my address was nowhere near here, made a comment about it, and finally gave up my ID. And they didn't do anything. I hadn't said a word to this man. I don't know who he was and he doesn't know me. It felt like a huge invasion of privacy. The table broke shortly after that and I was going to the cage to cash out. There was a line of about 4 people waiting. One of the dealers walks up, goes in front of everybody and points to tell us to get our cash from somewhere else so he can cash out his tray. We all went to this person he pointed us to, but she didn't have money. She pointed us to another man, he didn't have money. So we all had to go back to the cage to get back in line and the dealer was literally laughing that he cut in front of everybody and nobody else could cash us out. It was an overall frustrating experience.

I came here on a weekday for lunch around 1130am and it was not too busy. I was seated quickly and the server was friendly. I was craving breakfast and I was happy to hear that they were still serving breakfast! I ordered the steak and eggs which was only $8.99! The dish came with potatoes and toast. I ordered my steak medium rare and I was happy that it came out as ordered! I've been to many places where the steak was always over cooked but I wouldn't complain about it because it was a cheap dish to begin with. The steak was juicy and well worth the price. I ordered the potatoes and they were good as well. I would definitely come back here for the steak and eggs but there were a lot of other delicious plates to try as well. The server was great and there was plenty of seating. I also saw a room with a large table which would be good for large groups.

I recommend getting the bbq beef rib it comes with fried rice, the crab wonton and bbq chicken.

HORRIBLE. Meanwhile just got off the phone with security or whatever but I would expect with the least expectations to have security at EVERY SINGLE DOOR after a certain time. Late night for security purposes. I just got harassed there by another customer walking in thinking he could throw money in my face so I smacked it out of his hand. And security didn't even come until two minutes later. Unfortunately this place isn't secured, protecting customers don't mean a thing, and getting harassed can get marinated here. Hopefully the owner will contact me directly because situations like this is serious.

The Asian food is the best and there pho is the best in Sacramento!!!! Me and my wife go there twice a week sometimes for date night is so yummy

UPDATE: these guys never cease to amaze me. If you truly want the best prices, best quality Chinese food in town you need to stop by capitol casino after 5pm. Amazing service. Always a pleasure. Currently munching on some beef chow mein YUM!!!! DO NOT SKIP THE CHINESE FOOD AFTER 5PM!!!!! Delicious. Fresh, flavorful, taste like it was cooked with love. Huge portions. $11 entree (includes $2.50 upcharge for chicken fried rice) feeds both me and my partner with no problems. My favorite is the garlic pepper chicken MMMM!!! if you can make something as simple as pepper chicken taste this good I'm sure the rest of the menu has got to be 10/10. Markus is a chill bartender. Not overbearing at all, my kinda guy. Looks like he enjoys a nice fat doob every once in a while (hmu Markus.) Overall, great evening vibe. If you're an early bird or a bruncher, head over to the cafe for breakfast & lunch at the cafe! I definitely will be returning here again and again. Do yourself a favor and visit!

Employees not following procedures and customers are paying the price for poor performance management staff is clearly under performing.. I will see.never set foot Iin this Cardroom and I will tell every gambler I can about my experience....!

Went to play poker. Was a weekday middle of the day. Had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. It isn't the nicest casino/card room (a little older and dingy looking) but seemed clean. Staff were nice and had a good time. Isnt located in the best spot in town so probably wouldnt want to walk home after playing, especially at night. I didnt eat or drink but overall a good place to play some cards.

I used to love the chinese menu here. None of my favorites due to covid. No hot sour soup or house chow fun. Restaurant open 7a-3p only. After that you sit in the bar to order. Great dissapointment.

I came in to eat at the restaurant I found out that they had let alma go she was the best server the casino had it's a shame she always made us feel welcomed the food was ok it's a completely different place now that she's gone management really messed up with let her go

This place is so nasty I couldn't help but write a review. The dealers are all scummy and seem to be non interested in the work at. do not recommend playing here. Don't even know why this place is allowed to exist I have. I idea

Our server, Kris, was exceptional. He informed us that the steamed fish will take about 20 minutes so he placed that order in right away before bringing our drinks. Even though all the dishes we tried tonight are delicious, we particularly loved the pho beef style noodles. The flavorful beefy broth balances well with the sprouts and the tender beef. Even though the description indicates tripe, we didn't find any in our bowl but that was not a problem as it was a very hearty bowl. We also enjoyed the spicy peppered pork, Korean BBQ beef ribs, Thai red curry chicken and steamed white fish. This is definitely 5 stars and we look forward to coming back and trying all other dishes.

Love it for a late night meal. I love this place solely because it is one of the only places you can get real Food after midnight. My favorite dish is the Mongolian beef and rice ( it's a little spicy). This place is just decent in the daytime hours but again because it is open way late it gets a boost in my book. Honey walnut shrimp is mediocre but everything else I've had has been good. Service is surprisingly good as well, and the food is not expensive at all. Five stars from me!

Great place to come if you're craving for asian food after clubbing or a night out at the bars in downtown since it's close by and it closes late. Just a warning though, it can be semi ghetto and fights can break out if you're coming after hours. I came here recently and there was people arguing and trying to fight each other. *eye roll* Also they charged us gratuity in our bill when there was only 3 of us total, which I found odd. Overall, food here isn't bad. I would only come here if I'm already in the area and nothing else is open at night.

An excellent late-night option for Asian Fusion. Food is great but customer service is inconsistent. Come here at the right time and you might run into high profile people like Sacramento Kings players. I have only tried the Beef Pho here and have yet to order anything else since. Cons: The place can get a bit rowdy at times but it's expected of a late-night restaurant of it's location. I don't recommend taking children or family here during late hours. But for a night out with the friends, this is definitely a good place to get your grub on. Restaurant turned into casino and refused to serve crowd who has been there for less than 30 min. Went from five stars to one.

Love this place. The staff is terrific....all of them. We love the daily poker tournaments. I feel welcome here and have always felt safe. This is our go to card room and we drive from the foothills. The bonus is their food!

I have been wanting to give this place a piece of my mind. LOL okay that sounded serious. No, but really they probably most likely have the best food for a card room in Sacramento. Not to mention I am always hitting a dragon on BACCARAT and getting big bonus payouts on Blackjack. If only I was smart enough to not gamble elsewhere and keep my payouts they give me, but what can I say I'm a gambler. It is definitely the asian in me. LOL! I honestly think it is a good time to go there between 130am-230am HIT AND RUN guys. Thanks CAPITOL!

My god folks. Just came back after a long while gone. Get some new chips. These things are so faded you can't tell the colors apart in some of them. It's embarrassing

Very very very dirty. Smelled of vomit when entering poker area. No greeting or employee on entry. Walked around found poker board. Waited a few minutes for employee. Put my name up for no limit. 3 games going but employee stated wait was probably going to be 30 min. Sat down at pai gow. Played 7 hands. 5 hands were pai gow. Abruptly left. Would give 0 stars for service and cleanliness alone. 5/7 pai gows can happen anywhere but other places much nicer and service much better. Pass and fold.

The food , customer service and restaurant is horrible. The staff is racist . The staff never speaks and always has a attitude. A few times I've came to eat here the tables were nasty and food all in the seats . When asking the server to clean up the area the staff came back with a rag that appeared dirty. A few times I've ate here my food was under cook .it's never been the same since Linda retired and that was the only reason I brought so many people to eat here . I went back to the restaurant today and asked for the French toast and wanted it cooked well done . When I went to take a bite I discovered some hard pieces in my food . I open up the French toast today and it was hard pieces of uncooked rice inside of my food . I asked to take the food off . My partner continue to eat his food and shortly got really sick right after . I don't know what's going on with this place ,but this place is horrible and not a place to eat , sit or even spend any money because the staff is horrible and they don't care . They just show up and get paid and pick and choose who they give good service to . I don't even see the police officers coming here anymore. The entire staff on the breakfast side needs to be shut down . People are getting sick and this isn't right . I' m calling the news to talk about this entire place .
