We went to Capo & Co. for a last-minute surprise date night, and I was genuinely excited after hearing so many great things. The atmosphere and vibes absolutely lived up to the hype, the drinks were very good (the espresso martini was delicious), and the self-serve beer wall is a fun and convenient concept. We started with the loaded tots, which came out quickly and were very good, and my boyfriend’s cheesesteak pizza was delicious as well. I can definitely see why this place gets such strong reviews.
The issues started once it got busier. I ordered the BBQ cheddar bacon sandwich as a wrap after asking the bartender if that specific sandwich could be made that way, and she confirmed it could. When the food came out, it was a completely different wrap from the menu. The bartender immediately apologized, took it off the bill, and offered to fix it, which I appreciated. By that point, we were already well into my boyfriend’s pizza because it took quite some time for anyone to circle back, so I asked for the original order to be packaged to go.
To be clear, this is not a complaint about the bartenders themselves. I’ve worked in the service industry for over 10 years, so I’m usually very understanding and hesitant to speak up. The bartenders were kind, apologetic, and clearly doing their best. However, we came in around 5pm on a Saturday and by the time we left there was a waitlist, yet only two bartenders were running the entire bar and the service well. Drinks were taking 10–15 minutes, servers were visibly waiting on tickets, and guests at the bar (including the couple next to us) went long stretches without drinks — they even received their food before having anything to drink. The bartenders were visibly overwhelmed and stretched too thin. This felt like a staffing and management issue more than anything else. I’d be open to coming back on a quieter weeknight to hopefully get the experience everyone raves about, because the potential is absolutely there.
