I visited Capone's during a recent trip to Tennessee. I absolutely loved the atmosphere! The staff was very outgoing and professional. The bands we went to see were PHENOMENAL. Clean, old school castle-like structure with multiple levels. A very unique venue. I highly recommend Capone's to any and everyone. I will definitely be back in the future! Below 7 is the band featured in the video. Talented BEYOND!!! Thank you, Jarrod Evans and crew, for a phenomenal performance!

This venue has and always will be my favorite place in the tri-cities to go out to have fun! With three separated areas you really can't go wrong. When you first walk in you've got a bar and booths to sit and catch up with old friends and to make new ones! And then there's also the main stage where they have live music of all different genres or you can venture downstairs to The Vault where they've got great DJs that actually know how to mix music! They have another bar and a very unique dance floor! So you can dance all night! No matter what else opens downtown Capone's will always be my favorite!

Ordered fried pickles and fries, and BOTH were burnt and cold. Another individual in our group ordered fries & a burger and it was burnt! Highly recommend eating prior to going to Capones! First time & last time going there. The bartender took the order and then was no where to be found when we saw our food sitting on the bar with other customers. There was a young girl there that did not know whose food it was nor anything else it was apparent.

Google
Great venue, attentive staff, clean restrooms. Enjoyed my first live show in 2 years! Drove a little over 3 hours to get there based on recommendations from fans. Wasn't disappointed. Thanks Capones. The music hall is small, but makes for a great show. Saw Byzantine there... Do yourself a favor and see these guys if you are any kind of metal fan regardless of where the show is!

Google
Had a great time checking out a live show. Wonderful stage (my son was in the band) and free parking. Didn't get food but drink service was excellent. Best sound guy ever!

My husband and I had a great time at the concert last night, but this place was tiny and packed! Lots of fights breaking out, people fainting and nearly passing out from no AC (it was hot in there!), and one girl was outside most of the night trying to recover from fainting from the heat. I went and checked on her a few times. They are short-staffed but the lines for food and drinks were not moving at all and it was ridiculous. The staff was nice! Only issue we had was having to wait for a while outside because they had some issues with our tickets, but the bouncer helped us sort all that out so we could get in! I love the old nostalgic feeling of the building and the staff were great and very kind and helpful, but be warned this is a rough area of town and not the best place for a sold out concert.

If you're in the mood for some food and dancing the night away, 🌙 this is a great spot to do just that.

Google
Super fun music venue to grab some bar food, a few drinks and have a great time. I saw some great bands last night and did all of the above in this cool old building. The downtown of JC has some great architecture and this spot doesn’t disappoint. Super high ceilings, lots of space to move around in between sets, and a great outside area to grab a smoke if that’s your thing. Highly suggest a visit if you are look for some live music or just a beer.

Yelp
A few weeks ago, my friend, who was a girl, was thrown to the ground and choked out by one of the bouncers. One of her friends was trying to help her, and the owner grabbed her by the arm so she could not get her friend. My friend pressed charges because she has a video of the incident. And I'm pretty sure that this was not the first time this bouncer has done that. What a joke this place is, and no one is being held accountable.

Yelp
I was in Kingsport for a long weekend and found out there would be a live Rocky Horror performance at Capone's in JC while I was visiting. Naturally I bought a ticket weeks in advance and got out my "Janet" costume. Rocky Horror is my not so secret secret love and I've been to dozens and dozens of performances throughout the southeast and in the UK. A girlfriend joined me and we met up at Capone's. The bar itself was really beautiful. A wall of booths lined the left and the substantial bar was parallel. The bouncers checked us in online and we got our wristbands with no issue. Drinks were up first and as I had a 30 minute drive back to Kingsport, I limited myself to one, but it was really good! Top shelf gin and soda with extra lime (to cover up the gin flavor - haha!) We moved beyond the bar into the second lower level space which was a mini/performance venue. The kind I frequented in high school and college (before kids, really...) and we staked out a place at the front so we could see the whole thing. Partially because I freaking love Rocky Horror and partially because my girlfriend is super petite and wouldn't be able to see over anyone's head if we didn't. I was delighted that there was an opening band. Having no idea what to expect I thought it was a bonus. However the bigger surprise was that the opening band was part of the Rocky cast! It ended up being a fantastic musical rendering of the movie and musicals I have seen before, complete with costumes and a word for word script recitation along with all musical numbers. We were blown away. I wish I could have gone back again for a chill evening at the bar, but I give it my full approval. The drinks were good, the aesthetic is really sumptuous and pretty, the restrooms were clean and the show was super fun!!! I'll make it back next time I'm in Kingsport or JC.

Yelp
Great place if you want to be called a f@ggot, dodge between teenagers grinding on each other to Katy Perry, and listen to good band with terrible venue acoustics. Will not be subjecting myself to this place again

Yelp
The venue is awesome, the space was very deceiving from the outside and a welcomed surprise at how big it really was. The staff are super friendly and beer selections are great. The food is.. bar food, not big on quality but high on saltiness. My husband ordered their "jumbo" wings and they were not that at all and the sauce was on the side instead being tossed in it. I ordered the breaded mushrooms plenty there but the breading was extremely salty and so was the ranch that came with them. The food was just brought and sat on the bar without so much as calling a name or letting the bartender know it was there. We had to go to the bartender and ask if it was our food he said yeah over his shoulder without even knowing if it was our food. Our friend waited 20 minutes for his burger and loaded fries to come out, just to have to go get it from the bar. Anyone could've walked off with the food and it seemed like no one would have noticed. Overall the venue great, staff friendly, the beers good.

Yelp
beware of this place, the security has a long history of using excessive force, even with patrons like myself who are completely compliant. I got thrown outside, head bashed on the ground, black eye and choked all while showing zero signs of aggression or belligerence.

Fiona D.

Yelp
I got stamped and came in and got drinks and I went to my car to get something but it was raining so my stamp got smeared and they wouldn't let me back in and the security guard was extremely rude even though I had proof of me being in there

Yelp
Great place to go out! I went clubbing for the first time ever in October and it was beyond amazing! I'm leaving 4 stars because when I got there they were playing the Cupid Shuffle and that was weird to me.

Yelp
Best bar in Johnson City- they always have live music upstairs and the vault is ALWAYS super fun, too! If you're more into a casual beer watching a live band play, upstairs is for you. They always have some really great bands play! However, if you're more into dancing to rap and techno with your best friends, the Vault is amazing. The DJ does such an amazing job at picking the perfect music, too. The bouncers are professional but kind, and they do their job, well. The bar has a lot of options for those who drink and they're great at what they do. I've come to Capone's on many occasions and each time has been an awesome experience! If you're looking for the perfect weekend spot for you're friends, this is it!

Yelp
Only giving a 1 star rating because there is no 0 or warning rating is available. I've been going downtown Johnson City for years but it was my 1st and last time at #capones. The line was long and the young kid at the door was letting who he chose to get in. While I was downstairs, a major fight had happened upstairs. I went to the bathroom and found 4 workers there who asked me to go in and make those girls leave. Mind you I hand no idea who it was or what had transpired. I told them I wasn't risking my safety nor was I doing their job. During this time the girl I arrived with was nowhere to be found. I asked every person in there if they had seen her then went upstairs to do the same. Again, the cocky boy at the door told me to stop asking people about my missing friend after the violence that transpired earlier, then told me to leave and nit cone back. I'm 51 years old and drank nothing but water. The place was utter chaos and unsafe for everyone in there. The boy at the door was beyond rude and humiliated me in front of everyone there. IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY AND EXPECT EMPLOYEES TO BE HELPFUL DO NOT GO THERE. I would love to talk to the owner or manager about how I was treated. My roofing company did a lot of repairs to their asphalt roof because we had the only working asphalt kettle to pump the hot tar to the roof. My reputation is spotless in Johnson City, yet I was treated like a criminal. I've never felt so unsafe in all of my years being downtown. The cocky boy at the door who was on a power ride should not be allowed to deal with the public. Especially those of us who do not drink alcohol

Yelp
So checked this place out on a Saturday night. The vault looked like a fun place to go to after doing 5 shots of fireball. The bartender was great and made blueberry cheese cake drink. The band was not that great. They had foosball and darts that looked like fun.

Yelp
Capone's is a great bar, it has great musical acts often, plus a good selection of beer

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago with one of my friends. Apparently they're transforming part of this place into a restaurant now. Anyway, 5 stars!! I got the wings and they were delicious! Service was also amazing. Because of the whole pandemic ordeal, we were kinda the only ones in there at the time, but the drinks were good, food was amazing and everyone was so nice. Also how gorgeous is this place?? I will definitely be back.

Yelp
The music is trash and the owner and bouncers are ridiculous they asked me to put a belt on so i did so and i came back with no attitude then the bouncer told me its private property and i did absolutely nothing wrong was not drunk so i asked to speak to the owner and he was very disrespectful and didnt want to hear me out like i had done something wrong i wouldnt recommended anybody to go there.

Yelp
If you enjoy concerts and beer you will enjoy Capone's. Draft beers aren't overly expensive here and while small it definitely is a great place to see some quality bands. I've seen Black Stone Cherry twice here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff is actually friendly as well and will speak to you when you're standing in line, you don't get that often anymore. My only complaint is parking but that's to be expected in Johnson City.

Yelp
I'm going to give them another shot, literally, but I was a little disappointed about how, how do I say this, "prohibited" they are. I came in wanting a drink of one of my favorite tequilas, which could be a whole lot of different tequilas. As long as it is not a well tequila. I'm sorry, but I wanted something a little better. Immediately the bartender starts naming the prices off of the tequilas and I could give a crap less. So I'm either under the impression that I am being cheap or the bartender is being cheap. So I then pick a tequila and he then brings out a little shot glass and starts to measure meticulously. I'm like if you're going to tell me how much it costs and that it's so expensive, why don't you just pour it by hand and, you know, be a good bartender about it. So I tell him to hold off, I'll get something else that isn't an expensive weak tequila drink. It's just like Capone would be rolling in his grave over this! I understand acting corporate and penny counting, but ... yeah.

Yelp
Worst place ever, Paid my 10$ cover went immediately to the rest room and was persuade by a older man who kicked me out and screamed in my face upon trying to understand the reasoning for the removal. I had just walked in my firsts and last time at this establishment. Farthest thing from a fun time.

Yelp
Capone's is definitely one of the most fun places in Johnson City. They often have great artists come through to play shows, there's always music going down in the Vault, and their food is excellent. Their staff members are polite and good at their jobs. The atmosphere is often comfortable , even if it is crowded. A great place to talk to new people and make friends! Or , bring your own friends to enjoy the night with you! I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for good music and a good time.

Yelp
I've only been a few times to this establishment and every time it's been great. Fantastic music and bar service was on point! Will always recommend this place to anyone passing through.

Yelp
Drinks are great....Capone's is great but vault....I mean is it a crime to get to hear a full song....need a new dj or something for Friday's. Good on Saturdays but more throwback music and full songs on Friday's please....would make it a lot more enjoyable. Hard to dance to a song when they change it up every other verse

Yelp
We really loved this place. We first attempted to go to the bar right next door (it was a Friday night about midnight) and the place was super smokey and honestly seemed to be filled with scumbags. So we decided to go to Capone's instead. There was a $3.00 cover but the bouncer let us in for $3.00 total instead of $6.00. Our bartender (Chris) was ridiculously friendly and made our stay there super fun. We were only going to go in for one drink but ended up closing the place down because we were having such a great time. There is a Touchtunes jukebox and all the other guest there seem to be having a great time as well. We are not from the area but will go back to Capones next time we are in JC for sure. PS the Greenman Brown (not sure of the exact name of this local beer) was only $3.00 and was delish!

Yelp
Went in and it wasnt busy sat at a booth and the bartender just looked at us....after about 10 mins. , we went next door. Place looks cool and as some history I think, but go next door for service.

Yelp
Not very good bar unless a band you like happens to be preforming. Dirty, nastey, rude employees. STAY AWAY!

Yelp
This is the Go-to spot for the weekend. Upstairs has live music, food, drinks, darts and foosball. Downstairs is the club area with a professional DJ,bar, and dancefloor. Very nice security and staff everytime we go.

Ruthi M.

Yelp
I went to the bar and needed service (one other person needed something, clearly not busy at all). Two bartenders- one girl and one guy- the girl was the one I was in front of. She was on her phone, glanced up and saw me, and went back to her phone. The guy came over and tried to help me but wasn't helpful. I asked the girl a question again and she answered me but didn't look up from her phone. Then I guess the bar back or security guy came to see if I was upset about something and rather than pacifying me he was incredibly rude. That really didn't help. I have never made a complaint on a restaurant before because I'm a server and I'm very understanding of asshole customers who have nothing better to do than complain. I've always hated those people. That's why I feel like this complaint is so important because I really hate wasting my own time complaining about shitty service on yelp. But seriously, I don't care if you're a dive bar or fine dining, treat people with respect- they pay your rent. This is the most angry I've been with any service I've ever had at a restaurant or bar. Ever.

Yelp
Went there a few weeks ago with my fiancé around 1am on a Saturday night. Walked to the doorman with both of our ID's, masks on, and just wanting to grab a few drinks to get out of some chilly weather. The doorman was very rude and stated that the ID's I gave him were not ours! First off, I'm 32 years old and have a great career as a Physicians Assistant in DC and my Fiancé is an RN in the same area. Why would we want to use fake ID's? lol. After a while, they let us in and we waited 30 more minutes to get a drink with around 15 people at the bar (we ordered a vodka tonic and a whiskey sour, pretty simple), but they tasted HORRABLE! They put way too much alcohol in them and we asked if the drinks can be fixed, but the bartender said "That's how we make them". We decided to suffer through them since we paid for them already and proceeded to walk around. We walked down to this dark room, I'm guessing some sort of a "Night Club" but looked very neglected and smelled horrible. It looked and smelled like dive bars nobody goes to in a bigger city. A tall bouncer walked by us hitting my shoulder and knocking my drink out of my hand, he looked back and knew what happened, but walked away. I asked him if I can get another drink to replace, and he got angry with me and told us to get out! We were shocked at his attitude from the beginning of the conversation and couldn't believe this! We were happy to leave after the experience we had and went to another bar. We later walked by around 2:45am and watched all of them walking out and fighting in the street!!! If this represents Johnson City, then we are more than happy to stay away! What a horrible rotten apple in a beautiful town. City officials should investigate this place.

Yelp
They book punk/metal bands but have a strict dress code that they don't mention on their website when you go to buy tickets. My boyfriend & I drove 2 hrs to see a band & had to buy new cloths to get in. With the hideaway a few doors down I don't know why these guys are booking shows for people who couldn't get in their door if they weren't carrying an instrument. When I complained that they shouldn't sell me a ticket without informing me of the dress code they said they don't advertise they dress code online because they "can use it to keep the thugs out if they don't know about it." My fella was wearing a sleeveless band tee & I had on what they deemed a "work shirt." I'm fine with a place with a dress code but keeping it a secret seems really stupid to me. I will never be back.

Avery D.

Yelp
The venue was nice and beer was well priced, but the staff made the experience terrible. They were complete assholes. I probably won't go back because of them.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Went to see a metal concert here. The venue is cool, the staff was very nice and helpful, but the crow was horrible. No one had any respect for the bands playing, or respect for anyone else at the concert. We drove 5 hours to see the band and we have never been more disappointed with a crowd. Two separate people tried to pick fights with my husband, and when my husband walked away, they tried to fight his friend. The crowd is not well policed by the staff, but after we brought the problem to their attention they did something about it. We still left the venue early to remove ourselves from the violence. This crowd was only there to drink and be obnoxious. But again, the staff reacted quickly and professionally to the situation once brought to their attention.

Yelp
i love when they had bands there . they get . some great top notch bands . everyone is nice and it's pretty clean . i love going here to see great bands in a nice place
