We visited Capricorn Caves as a group of 20 without a prior booking and arrived around 11am. Despite the short notice, the staff were able to accommodate us on a tour at 12pm, which we greatly appreciated. While it was clear the situation may have caused some inconvenience, we were grateful it worked out.
To pass the time, we ordered from the café. While the coffee wasn’t great, the rest of the offerings were satisfactory. The cave tour itself was excellent. Our guide was clearly passionate and highly knowledgeable about the site’s history. It was fascinating to learn that tours have been running here since 1884, making it one of Queensland’s longest-standing tourist attractions.
A highlight was experiencing complete darkness in the Cathedral Cave and hearing its stunning acoustics. The tour length was just right especially for our group, which included 11 adults and 9 children under the age of 7. It was a well-paced and memorable experience for all ages.
