"Why we love it: A boutique-style stay in the heart of Aqaba with a great restaurant and knowledgeable staff The Highlights: - A superb seafood restaurant on-site - Cozy, carefully decorated rooms - Friendly staff who can help you navigate the surrounding area The Review: One of Aqaba’s most charming hotels, Captain’s began as a celebrated seafood restaurant (which still exists at the front of the house), then evolved into something a bit more ambitious. Today, the clutch of rooms and suites in dark wood and marble are cozy and finished with a nice eye for detail. Though small in size, the hotel is well run, and the management is a font of local knowledge, helping guests arrange tours to Wadi Rum and beyond. If you’d rather stay in, there’s a small pool, a gym, and a sauna for relaxing after a long day on the road. Be sure to also grab dinner at the on-site Captain’s Restaurant, where you can indulge in local seafood along with Asian and traditional Jordanian fare."

Dear Manager, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the customer service experience I had at Captains Hotel, particularly with one of your staff members, Jean. My interaction with Jean was unpleasant as I found their behavior to be rude and lacking in basic hospitality and customer service etiquette. As a guest, I believe that good customer service is essential for a positive experience, and unfortunately, this was not the case during my recent visit. I would appreciate it if you could address this matter internally to ensure that all guests receive the level of service they deserve. Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the steps you will take to improve the customer service standards at Captains Hotel. Sincerely, Ossama wehbi

Enjoyed my stay here in October 2023. All staff are polite and helpful, the rooms are sizeable and I had a huge, very comfortable double bed with a nice view of the Gulf of Aqaba. Only downsides were the pool is unheated and doesn't get a great deal of sun, and the hotel doesn't have its own parking but there is generally parking out front or to the side. I consider it to be good value, I paid about £60 a night.

My room, though not overly spacious, was perfectly functional and exceptionally clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep. Housekeeping did a fantastic job of keeping everything spotless throughout my stay.

I was booked into Captain's Hotel Aqaba with Hotels.com's assistance,as a previously confirmed and fully-paid reservation at a nearby hotel was literally moved from the night I paid for TO THE NEXT NIGHT!||The quality work by the Customer Service team was definitely appreciated, as they booked me into Captain's Hotel Aqaba. I was extremely pleased with my new hotel. Allah at the reception and Mohammed in the breakfast area were delightful, competent and accommodating.I definitely recommend this fine hotel.||My room was clean, fresh and very comfortable. The technology was excellent and the free wifi was fantastic.I would highly recommended.

The staff here could not be better. Gemma is an absolute star. Book any trips you’d like through her at the hotel. It’s cheaper and you get good English speaking guides. We booked private tours with guides to Petra (SO worth it. We’d have missed so much otherwise) and to Wadi Rum. We couldn’t have done it without Gemma who we liaised with via email before we arrived. The rooms at Captains are a bit tired and our bathroom was…..well…..functional and clean at least! The breakfast at the hotel is worth paying for and you can get a fresh made omelette which is nice too. Alcohol is expensive at restaurants in Aqaba so best to have fresh orange juice with a meal and buy a bottle of wine from an off licence (there’s loads) and drink at hotel room afterwards. Try Tikka Chicken restaurant over the road. There’s a reason it’s always heaving with locals - best fresh food in Aqaba although Captains restaurant does a massive fish dish which should be tried too. Buy a thick, Bedouin coat (looks like shearling) from the Souk only £20 and they’ll keep|You warm in your Uk house when u can’t afford any heating! Perfect for Wadi Rum too on the back of a pick up truck. Brrrr! x

I stayed there two nights recently as part of a tour ending in Aqaba. My room had two double beds and whilst I wanted to take the bed closer to the window I found the bedlinen was still wet. Bathroom: The shower has this imposing contraption and you expect multiple facets but in the end it was just rickety fluff, you had to detach the shower head to point it in the right direction, the water was only every lukewarm and only ever a trickle. Allow plenty of time for a thorough clean. My toilet first blocked, then no water refilled, then my bathroom floor flooded. Every time I had to call reception and it took from 08:00am to about 1.00pm until I could safely relax. The room was somewhat shabby and I felt the need to put a towel on the chair before I sat on it, There was a TV but programs were only in ARABIC. Also, I was surprised to see an ashtray in the room. I was not asked a preference of smoking or non-smoking room when we checked in. We had two group dinners at their fish restaurant and the food was very poor. Since this was at the end of my 12 day tour I feel qualified to pass this judgement. In essence it is a hotel for tourists with not an ounce of extra care towards the guest, after all, that guest is only passing through. Only saving grace was that it was really centrally located in Aqaba.
