Captain Crab

The food was delicious, the waitress was very sweet and always check on us to make sure we had everything that we need. The atmosphere is very calming and relaxing. Nice place to sit down and have a nice meal. It's really nice when you get messy food it comes with a bib ,yes a bib the food is really good and juicy you can put that on and not mess your shirt up also comes with plastic gloves when you don't get your hands all messy ,wet wipes and also breath ments. They think of everything to make your experience the best , eat good food and not get anything on your clothes. The service is awesome.

This was our first visit to Captain Crab. My nephew and his fiance have been there and said the food was good. I ordered a seafood boil. My husband ordered a shrimp basket. The music that was playing was like "Oldies but Goodies" and was nice to listen to. The decor was typical of a seafood place. We requested a booth, and it was comfortable. The server was prompt and very courteous. The drinks were refilled promptly. The food was all very tasty. I had a phone call from a friend while we were there. I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. When we were finishing up, the gentleman who was at the booth behind us stopped by. He said he heard me mention it was our anniversary, and was glad to see people still going out to celebrate, and "oh. By the way. I don't know if your server mentioned it to you, but I took care of your meal. You're all set! Happy Anniversary!" We were flabbergasted. I asked if he was sure, and he said he was. So we thanked him, and off he went. The server came by to bring our "doggy bags" and told us the check had been covered by the gentleman. In retrospect, I wish we had asked his name, and introduced ourselves to him. If he ever reads this, we would like to hear from him again. What a nice gesture from a stranger. 😁

Great little place we stumbled into. We were just passing thru and found this great place to eat. Morgan was a great server and was very helpful in recommending means items. She was the best server wee has on our trip!

The Food, Service, Atmosphere was spot on great music while we waited for our food I couldn't help but sing along. My stepdad and I will definitely be back the next time we are in Lake City again thanks for the great service and food.

Everything was immaculate 💯 Can't wait to eat here again. Waiter was the best, food was the best seafood in Lake City. Service was top tier. Restaurants was clean.

I enjoy dining in new places and leaving great reviews, however this isn't one of those. The waitress was polite, efficient and got the order right. Kudos. The food and menu was a disappointment. Selections were very limited and the combos offer what they select to put in them and are priced like a restaurant you would find in south beach. As far as dinners they offer two kinds of fish. Catfish and talapia, neither of which are seafood in my book. No grouper, snapper, flounder, redfish, mahi mahi, scallops, clam strips,etc. the catfish was like nothing I've ever eaten and that's not a compliment. Didn't even taste like catfish. Very greasy but at least it was hot. The shrimp weren't bad, but nowhere close to what I'm used to. I grew up cooking fish and seafood and at 64, I will not be returning to Capt. Crabs. Very poor quality, selection and grossly overpriced. Not being nasty, just honest.

The atmosphere is wonderful. The service is good. I went there once got steamed clams and they were great. Second time I went back. I was looking forward to them again. This time a half a pound only consisted of four Small steamed clams. I said to the waitress. Will you look at this? All these shells are empty. Said they're probably down at the bottom in with the broth. I said. Come here look all this is empty. I've had actually four that's it. When she went back to the cook he says, I weighed a half a pound but I don't look inside of each clam shell. What got me annoyed I paid for a meal that I didn't even get. She did not even have the audacity to ask me if I wanted anything else. She just presented the bill. Didn't discount it. Nothing charged me the full amount. I think that is totally unappropriate to do that to a customer. It shows you do not care about your people that supports your business. I Hope the waitresses do not do this to any other customers. Because you will go out of business. I have not been back since because I'm worried that's going to happen to me again. Get stuck with a full bill with nothing to eat. She should have least offered me something else to eat. She didn't even say sorry for the inconvenience.

First time to try and overall was a good stop. I had the shrimp and sausage boil. The selection was Cajun extra spicy. I actually thought it could be more of a spice level, but was still flavorful. Prices were rather reasonable and would definitely revisit to try some other items.

Dining at Captain Crab - Always a Win! Every time I visit Captain Crab, it's a guaranteed great experience! The food is always fresh and delicious, from juicy crab legs to perfectly seasoned shrimp. Their captain seasons is perfect Not only is the seafood top-notch, but the place is super clean and the prices? Totally worth it! If you're looking for a spot with amazing food, a clean atmosphere, and great value, Captain Crab is where it's at!

My family and I were on a road trip & discussing where we'd like to go for dinner. We passed many places & just couldn't decide. When we were in the parking lot of another place, I spotted Captain Crab across the way. I had been craving crab legs so we decided to check it out. It wasn't crowded because it was after lunch & before dinner. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was kind & patient. To my delight I saw the lunch special with a shrimp & snow crab boil. It was delicious!!! What a pleasant surprise to accidentally find it. My husband & brother & sister in law enjoyed their meal as well. It definitely deserves 5 stars.

Service is great. Fried shrimp is consistently good, fried fish is good. Fried OYSTERS ARE HORRIBLE. Fried Calamari was HORRIBLE.

Service was fast and friendly. Food was very tasty. The crab legs slid right out of the shell without sticking.

Alright, I've now dined here three times and can upgrade my review to 5 stars. Hannah is an absolute star; she hustles with a smile - always. It was quite busy today - and it was "only" a Monday night and she appeared to be the only one taking orders. She was attentive and conscientious, back and forth, always polite and friendly and accurate in taking down orders. The kitchen was pretty quick to get our orders out. Tip: seeing the place start to fill as we were seated, we ordered our appetizer (sweet potato fries!) at the time Hannah took our drink order; everything came out perfectly timed. I like the ambiance here: it's all abt the crab/seafood boil. You walk in, and the paper covered tables and cheery booths and tables full of happy ppl enjoying a meal together and the delicious aroma that somehow avoids being fishy: what a great atmosphere. It's clean all around, tables are bused with a minimum of fuss; it's actually quite an elegant thing to pick up and lay out a new setting so quietly and neatly. As always the food is delicious. My friend got the #3 And me the Dungeness + shrimp; both of us enjoyed our meals and took our bags home, we were so full. Again, a terrific value for what we ordered. Robert at the counter helped bring the food out and processed my friend's gift certificate from December 2021 (don't worry: the gift certificates do not expire!) Hope you enjoy your visit too! PS came back to mention even the corn on the cob is so sweet; drenched in the sauce it is So Good!

Everything I love about a seafood boil. No frills but good seafood. The place was slammed when my friend and I arrived then got super quiet while we ate. The service was fine. Not a lot of drink options but we made do. Not much in the way of ambience but when you have the butter sauce dripping down your chin and to your elbows, who cares?

Glad to find this place going through the area heading to The Villages. Best boil I've had in a long time!

Do yourself a favor and get the low country boil. We are traveling and the hotel suggested this place. If they had not, I don't think I would have stopped. It's in a run-down strip mall, but went in anyway, and boy am I glad we did! Excellent service and the food was phenomenal!! Very fast service as well!!

So, we found ourselves in Lake City at 7 PM on a Sunday night, and most of the sidewalks had already been rolled up. What to do for dinner? Mama found this place online, close to where we were staying overnight waiting to take the RV in for service Monday morning and with good reviews. Well, the best I can say is "Meh", although the cook and flavor was good. We split a Cajun Boil, and both found it very average for a seafood boil place, with only the service to make it stand out at all, which was excellent. Nothing to really notice about the interior decor, pretty much the same as most other boil restaurants I've been to. Sorry, Cap'n, but there's nothing here that puts you above average.

Love this place. Me and about two families came here for a birthday party. They accommodated us as we needed, the waitresses were amazing. The food was awesome. If you're looking for a good seafood boil I recommend here!

First time there. We've lived in Live Oak since 2015 and had no idea this little gem was here. My husband and I SPLIT the Combo 4 - shrimp and snow crab. Both of us were full as ticks on a hound dog and the food was GREAT. The service was over the top and I didn't need my booties, scarf and gloves to be comfortable. The temperature was just right for someone just sitting - and I tend to get cold. Prices were very fair for what we got. No complaints in that department and I'm known for being "frugal." One word of advice. They have the choices of mild, medium, and hot. We like a bit of twang so we chose medium. Maybe the mild would have been the better choice Soooo, first time there and certainly NOT our last.

Excellent calamari, hush puppies, fried shrimp, scallops and coleslaw. Super fast, friendly service. Great prices. Highly recommended.

The crab is good. The service could be better that's all I have to say. My mother likes the place and so we always take her out for her birthday there. It's a good spot to take someone out for their birthday

The best kept secret of lake city!!! Seafood is super tasty, fresh & affordable! They def give you your money's worth & you will be stuffed! Me & the hubby went and shared a #2 combo (boiled crawfish, shrimp, & 1 snow crab legs cluster with corn and potatoes, we added extra corn with the Cajun & garlic butter seasoning) also had coconut shrimp appetizer. The food came out fast & was the best I've ever had aside from making myself. 10/10 would recommend. Fast & friendly. They also serve beer. Def will be back

This place was fabulous! Deceptively Delicious. I had the mussels and an appetizer. Very tasty. My Nephew had a low country boil with shrimp and lobster. He was impressed and he's a seafood salesman. Been in the industry since he could hold a job. If he likes a place that sells seafood...it's a must try.

Service was very good but it was a week night . We had coconut shrimp for an appetizer arrived hot and nice portion but only one sauce "boom boom" available other than catsup tartar etc. We also tried the gumbo it was a large portion but we both felt it was bland and only had about half. The wife had the number one boiled combo it was very good nice portion and boiled perfectly. I had the low boil with the same result. Prices are fair and because of the amenities I would consider it kid and family friendly. We will be going back

First time here was on a Saturday at around six o'clock. Our wait was about fifteen minutes. The place was decorated in a nautical motif and wasn't overdone. There isn't a lot of seating and the place was packed! The menu is somewhat pricey and has practically everything you could want when it comes to seafood. Renee was our server and was very pleasant. My wife and I ordered two orders of fried oysters, fried scallops, fries and corn on the cob. We went lightly Incase we didn't like it. Everything was really tasty and filling! We will definitely return to try other things on the menu. I was totally impressed that they offered a military discount as that goes pretty far with my having served 25 years. If you've never been, what are you waiting for?

We were traveling thru, went on yelp to see what was available. Captain Crab Seafood popped up and we decided to give it a try. The food is fresh, hot and incredibly tasty. There was so many great choices. Our waitress, Kelly was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great advice. This is definitely a gem and a place you need to try if you love good seafood. Prices are reasonable as well. We will go back next time we travel. Nice job!

Wow! This was our first visit, and what a pleasant surprise. The decor is casual, and very tasteful. Service was great. Good music - present but not too loud. The food was fantastic! Wife had a fried fish basket with sweet potato fries. Under $10. Took half home. I had cajun boiled shrimp for $12.95. 18 large shrimp, 2 potatoes, and a piece if corn. Absolutely delish! Took half home. Great food, large menu, good service, great value. You like seafood? This place is a must!

Comparable (quality, pricing) to other boiled seafood places in nearby cities. We love the snow crab legs and shrimp, sauce on the side. The low crab boil is great, too! The fried offerings are pretty good, too. Not greasy. Their available sides work well with intergenerational families. Good for takeout or dine-in (especially for groups)!

Service is awesome. Food is great! We always leave stuffed & take home enough leftovers for another meal. This was my 4th visit & certainly not my last I highly recommend them!

My daughter and I were in the mood for seafood and tried this restaurant for the first time. We will, definitely, be going back! We ordered 2 lbs. of snow crab, that came with russet potatoes and corn on the cob. I requested lemon garlic butter on the side for dipping. To our surprise, our dinners came in giant plastic bags filled with hot air and steam, the food cooked to perfection within the bag. Our waitress opened the bags and folded the edges around a shallow bowl. We ate from the bag that was pleasantly full of a delicious butter sauce heavily seasoned with fresh chopped garlic. A large bucket is supplied for shells and bibs and plastic gloves are provided for eating. Trust me! You will need them!! I found that the extra lemon garlic butter sauce that I ordered was NOT needed. Everything is cooked together in one bag per order. A different way of eating but DELICIOUS! My only negative comment would be that there is no full bar. Only beer, tea and sodas. I enjoy a cocktail with dinner. But, hey, with dinner that good, I'll struggle with a beer!.....

My sister and I went there for lunch at noon on a Tuesday. We were the only customers for a long time. I ordered the shrimp basket ($8.00) and sweet potato fries with sweet tea as my drink. They hadn't made any tea yet and none was offered while I was there. The shrimp were huge and good, but way too much breading. The sweet potato fries were the flat, crinkle kind and had very little sweet potato flavor. The place itself is nice and the staff friendly, but probably won't go back.

I ordered a shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. When the order came out several of the fries were soaking wet in grease. I asked our waitress to trade the sweet potato fries out for regular fries. The Manager then comes over and says that he will not change the fries out because "they are almost all gone". Besides what the waitress took to the Manager, none had been eaten. That is what was brought to the table. Who in their right mind would eat soaking wet sweet potato fries. Do Not Recommend this place!!! Horrible service from management/part owner.

I through I would try the crab here. After looking at the prices in the menu(way too high) I went with the shrimp and oyster basket. All I can say is that I would not order it again. Way too much breading and pretty tasteless food. Tea was also old and stale. My basket with the tea came out to $19 dollars. So you can see why I would not visit again. Overpriced and poor food.
