Rick and Tom are the most wonderful hosts. They both make you feel genuinely welcomed from the minute you walk into their home. They upgraded our room for free when we arrived and it was beautiful. It was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The best part about our stay was their breakfast, the food was delicious and the entertainment was hilarious. They both make excellent Scones and the Scone contest they have at the end of the weekend was so funny. Tom and Rick most certainly care about their guests and when we make another trip back to the Cape we will be staying there again.|Thanks for a great stay !!!

Completely enjoyed our stay at Captain David Kelley House. The house is full of history and charm. Our room had everything we needed as well as some yummy chocolates. |Rick and Tom were the best hosts. Their three course entertaining and delicious breakfast is something not to be missed. You must have the scones! Won’t hesitate to stay there again.

Rick & Tom are great hosts. The inn is so warm and relaxing. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was yummie but the best part are the scones! Our schedule was pretty tight most mornings and Rick accommodated us with early morning coffee and scones. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

We have been staying at the Captain David Kelley House for almost a decade. It is the only place we prefer to stay while on the Cape or in MA. Tom and Rick are outstanding hosts. We love everything from the very comfortable and clean rooms to the delicious breakfasts and super fun Scone Wars. Tom and Rick are the kindest, most warm-hearted and genuine people who really set the bar for bed and breakfasts. We always look forward to seeing both of them and feel more restored after staying at their lovely place. We highly recommend staying at the Captain David Kelley House!

Even though I live locally I wanted a special place that I knew would be family oriented, fun, lovely, and a delicious breakfast with the best scones ever to hold a small family birthday get together. I immediately thought of Rick and Tom, owners of Captain David Kelley's B&B. They did not disappoint. They made it most memorable for my granddaughter and our family. Rick and Tom are the best of the best and I can't thank them enough. It was so much fun and I am proud to call Rick and Tom my friends.

An enchanting inn. Fabulous hosts. Wonderfully delicious brunch in an incredibly hospitable atmosphere. I cannot recommend it enough! I encourage you to participate in the Scone Wars, too. Ask them about it. The Inn is beautifully restored and elegantly designed. The lavish gardens make this a refreshing and relaxing oasis.

If you're looking for the kind of place that wraps you in comfort the moment you walk in, this is it. This bed and breakfast is a slice of Cape Cod heaven—every detail is lovingly curated, from the impossibly cozy rooms (think plush bedding, soft lighting, and charming touches) to the warm and welcoming hosts (Rick and Tom) who instantly make you feel like family.||Breakfast each morning was a highlight; three course delight that is fresh and scrumptious, and that doesn’t even begin to cover it. And the scones? They're the real showstopper! Not just good—legendary. Golden and crisp on the outside, soft and tender in the middle, bursting with flavor and served warm; each bite strikes the perfect balance of buttery richness and light, crumbly perfection. It’s no wonder they’re the talk of Cape Cod—and the center of the house’s famous “Scone Wars.”||Whether you’re sipping coffee among the blooming blue hydrangeas in the garden, laughing with the hosts (who are as entertaining as they are kind), or strolling to the nearby beach, this place is a feel-good, can't-stop-smiling kind of getaway you’ll never want to leave. Can’t recommend it enough!

Yelp
If your looking for a vacation in cape cod, look no further than Captain Kelly's house. We are so pleased with our choice to stay at this bed and breakfast. Tom and Rick are the perfect hosts. They made reservations for us for dinners and provided suggestions that made our stay perfect. One thing to look forward to is the scone wars at the inn. Rick and Tom take turns baking the Scones each morning. A different theme scone every morning. Each has a unique recipe and style. As is the presentation of the scones. Round verses triangle. I can't tell you who is the better baker as we were split as to which was the best. I voted for Tom's pineapple Gloria voted for Ricks Cranberry. Both excellent. The rooms were perfect, we had control of our own AC and had a private bathroom for our rooms. Our hosts provided everything we needed. They have 6 rooms of guests. We only saw people at breakfast. The house was quiet and in great shape for a 170 year old historical home. If your planning to visit Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard and p-town plan a full day for each trip. I hope to return again for a future longer stay. Thank you Rick and Tom !

Yelp
Rick and Tom, owners of Captain David Kelley House have created one of the most fun, relaxing, and delicious experiences on Cape Cod. Over the past 10 years they have transformed a tired old inn into something magical and special. Drawing from its historical significance (it's on the national register of historic places), They have worked tirelessly and joyously to restore the gardens, accommodations and common areas into a comfortable, casually elegant bed and breakfast inn. The Inn has been featured on Chronicle and deservedly so. Now for the fun part: the breakfast scones and the scone wars between Rick and Tom. Artfully presented! Delicious. You'll never think of scones the same way again, and I'm inspired to try this at home! See photos and videos. Thank you guys for a fantastic and "Covidly-correct" weekend!

Yelp
The Captain David Kelley House is the dream that Rick and Tom are willing to share with us all. Can you imagine a dream come true? These guys are living it. Even in winter, as cozy as it can be, the setting felt like spring. Relaxation sets in upon entering the porch. My bags dropped in the doorway along with my stress. We've been greeted by one or both each time we arrived. These two are passionate about their guests and take as much joy in getting to know us as we have, them. The humor never ceases. The morning entertainment is hilarious and creative...33 costumes per Rick and Tom...or should I say, Elvis, Madonna, Bessy and the list goes on. You'll have all the time and privacy you desire on your own. No worries there. Romance? You'll find it here. The place is simply spotless. Tradional decor is welcoming, with attendion to detail at every corner. This piece of heaven and escapism from daily life is not to be missed. Rick and Tom have poured their hearts & souls into their dream. Thank you, so very much, for sharing it with us :) Dave & Pat

Yelp
We would be remiss if we did not, once again, record accolades for two of the best hosts we have ever encountered. Tom & Rick were born to be inn keepers! After several years away, our late summer stay at CDK House was wonderful. Even a day of rain did not dampen our outlook as we enjoyed seeing old friends and sharing in their scone wars.. We highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a centrally located inn, with wonderfully comfortable rooms and a breakfast you cannot beat. Where else can you get all of that and morning entertainment? Thanks, guys, for all you do.

Yelp
Living la vida covid? You bet that they are taking all precautions and TLC necessary to protect their guests. Before Covid, this little piece of heaven was already the picture-perfect ode to cleanliness, shenanigans, pampering and OHM. Their obsession with steaming mattresses and pillows and terminating any dust bunny before launch, is EPIC. Post Covid? It's OCD on steroids. Sleep and rest well knowing that Tom and Rick cover all the bases. Masks will be provided, but kindly bring yours and wear while in common areas. Then, relax and prepare to be spoiled rotten. Because that is what they do. Their DELECTABLE breakfast with those scones that keep you dancing and toe-tapping long after your entertaining meal. Each room is a wonderland of little surprises and breakfast is always served with more than what you expected. It's no surprise they are consistently voted the BEST B&B on Cape Cod (and its NOT on the water, but rest assured, a short walk to some stunning water, walks, swimming and beach borne relaxation - and they provide some beach equipment for your pleasure... sanitized, of course!). And if you want Zumba? Rick is an instructor extraordinaire! Walking distance from some of the best ice cream on the cape! The problem with this place, is that it GETS UNDER YOUR SKIN! Caring and pampering so sublime and delicious, you miss it 100 yards down the road. Memorable as all get out! BUT DONT FRET! You can bring CDK with you - buy a robe! Order some scones to go! (Rick or Toms? can't decide, get some tempting triangles or round and luscious...). Head over to Cape Cod Chocolatier and get a box of those dark chocolate bark with cranberries that are left on your pillow (or outside your room during covid recovery...). This is my happy place. Because I know that they will whisper sweet nothings and make us feel we are the most VIPS OF ALL VIPS (ok, they spoil EVERYONE!), restaurant recommendations and/or reservations, sexy quiche, playful scones... It is a piece of heaven with so much soul. Curse you CDK! I missed you down the road! SEE YOU IN THE FALL!!!

Yelp
we didn't have a great experience there. we stayed in the room by the dining room and were very surprised to be awaken by music on loud speakers at breakfast time. we told the innkeeper that we would be sleeping in and not having breakfast. No warning. Just 2 days of being awaken at 8:30 by loud speaker music with the innkeepers full knowledge we weren't having breakfast and wanted to sleep in. We would have paid extra to be in another room if we were told ahead this would happen. There was also no room service while we stayed there, no bed was made, fresh towels and absolutely no wine or refreshments in the afternoon. Also, the check in was a lot longer than any other bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in, loads of rules and precautions which we were fine with but found unnecessary after a long trip. The innkeepers weren't unpleasant but because we didn't do breakfast we never really saw them. The whole 48 hrs we were there we weren't asked once if we were ok. I think the noise at breakfast knowing we wanted to sleep in was part of it. The house itself was nice and the grounds were well kept. parking was easy.

Yelp
We just left the most magical stay with Rick and Tom. What a welcoming, comfortable and fun environment! The scones were divine only to be out done by the presentation. We could not recommend their home highly enough. Come for the scones but stay for the song and dance.

Jean Y.

Yelp
We were invited to stay their beautiful home in Cape, we felt exact that way. It was cold, rainy and dark when we tried to knock the wrong door that evening. We passed the main entrance..Rick opened the door with huge smile, we were saved in unknown territory far end of east coast... It's a beautiful home. Every little thing inside the house they arranged was worth to look carefully. Our bed room was upstairs towards to the street, though we didn't hear any of car noises during our stay. After dinner at the Naked Oyster, we, four of us, sat in the living room with wine and Cape Cod Chip. Kids were doing Kumon and homework like their own home. Fireplace in the middle, grand piano on far end, beautiful antiquish paintings on the wall, everything's perfect to feel comfortable to any guests. It is an experience for me, actually my first real B&B ever. It was a beautiful experience!

Yelp
We just spent the weekend at the captain David Kelly house on Cape Cod. The innkeepers Rick and Tom are incredible. They are so hospitable, engaging, funny, and make you definitely feel welcome. The room we stayed in was gorgeous, clean, bright and airy, and beautifully decorated. The scones, let's just say, you need to go just for that. Highly recommend. We will be back. Thank you Rick and Tom for a great weekend. November 2021.

Yelp
A quiet & quaint place with a ton of personality! Owners Rick & Tom provide a setting of comfort & relaxation. Our breakfast was delivered in 3 courses, fresh fruit, coffee & tea, fresh baked scones & spinach asparagus cheese Quiche. I highly recommend the Captain David Kelley House for your next stay next time your down the Cape! It's obvious why they have won Cape Cods best 3 years in a row!

Yelp
There is no other way to grade this experience than to give it 5 stars. Tom and Rick are amazing. The two owners make you feel like they have no purpose on earth other than to make sure that you have everything that you need. ..and, always with a smile on their faces. When you book and when you check in, they have very specific rules. Most people may not like rules, but we were happy to see them because we agreed with all of them...because the ideas made sense. Unfortunately for us, we had terrible weather while on the cape. It was really quite disappointing not to be able to do any water or beach activities. The rain and winds were so annoying that every time we attempted to do anything active outdoors, the sideways wind made sure that we were soaked. Therefore, we ate breakfast inside, had our cocktails and food inside, and missed the fire pit, s'mores, and zumba! Definitely looking forward to everything next time. On a positive note, the home and grounds are impeccably kept, with really neat decor and antiques. Tom and Rick guided us to excellent restaurants and food for delivery. They even set places for us to eat at the dining room table when we were to lazy to go out and get wet yet again. And when the take out said that it would be 45 minutes, Rick even brought us yummy organic chips in a bowl. Breakfast was the best part of our day. The scones are amazingly awesome. The large bowl of fresh fruit was excellent. Rick prepared a fresh, delicious entree (which for us was a choice of quiche on 1st day and eggs Benedict with special hollandaise sauce on the 2nd). Fresh juice and coffee or tea complimented the meals...along with fun entertainment. Our room Phebe was impeccably clean. Couple of slight negatives...we each hit our heads at least once on the bedroom door or in the bathroom, and there is not much shelf room in the bathroom. Otherwise, we had fresh bottled water, coffee/tea, and an evening chocolate to look forward to each night. The bed and linens were very comfortable and comforting. Overall, we had a great stay and really liked our room, the entire house, breakfast, and the hospitality of Tom and Rick. It doesn't appear to be a business for them but rather an obsession to give their lodgers an amazing experience. But, who wins the scone war.....?

Yelp
8 of us flew in for a girl's weekend trip over the 4th of July. Make sure to reserve early as rooms book up early. The house itself is quaint and each piece of furniture, decoration carefully thought over. Overall vibe is relaxing, sophisticated, and welcoming. Seated three course breakfast is provided plus water/coffee throughout the day as needed. There is a small fridge on the front porch to chill beer/wine. Oh and those pillow chocolates...usually a savory over sweets person but yuuuuuuuum. so delicious. Neighborhood beach within 15 minute walk - Rick and Tom have towels and beach chairs if needed! Be sure to check out the 1856 Country Store down the street for cape cod souvenirs to bring home (jewelry, kitchen items, clothing, toys/candy). Local eats are a short drive away. Free street parking available at CDK house. Drive from Logan Airport is an hour fourty five minutes sans traffic but on a holiday weekend took us three hours as expected. Bring some snacks, jams, great company and drive on over to the hospitable Rick and Tom's abode! Beautiful home and beautiful owners!

Yelp
The other reviews are right on the money. This place was incredible and the owners, Rick and Tom, make it even better. They were friendly, attentive and extremely hospitable. My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we can't wait to come back and make this an anniversary trip. If it's your first time to Cape Cod, it was ours, then I highly recommend it. Rick and Tom had a lot of great suggestions on what to do in the area as well as maps and brochures. The breakfast was also spectacular. The famous "scone wars" they have were very funny and delicious! (Each day's scone comes with a special presentation) Breakfast was very cozy on the porch every morning. I highly recommend this place, especially if it's your first time around the area. We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
The best Bed and Breakfast I've ever been too! The owners, Rick and Tom, are amazing and their breakfast is delicious!

Toni B.

Yelp
We enjoyed this Bed and Breakfast and all the colorful entertainment. Tom and Rick were very hospitable and cordial. We had 3 rooms which were all very nice clean and cozy and well furnished. The Breakfast was the best on the Porch with a nice setting and we were entertained the entire time. Would highly recommend for ADULTS.

Mark B.

Yelp
I can't recommend this lovely BnB enough! The house is beautiful, and the location is perfect. But that all is overshadowed by the two lovely hosts, Tom and Rick. They are so friendly and welcoming, and are such phenomenal cooks! Breakfast each morning was an absolute treat! If you're in the area please consider staying with them, you won't regret or forget it!

Matt M.

Yelp
CDK always makes guests feel like family, even with each other. We have met some of the nicest people here. Hosts pay great attention to detail and are sincere about each guest having a wonderful experience. Scone Wars are a blast and you can't imagine the " celebrities " that might appear during presentation. Plenty to do within walking distance or a short drive. Wanna relax? Pick a porch or quiet patio to mellow out on with a cup of coffee (or wine/libation). We hope to make more frequent visits!

Chuck S.

Yelp
I have stayed at Captain David Kelley House on several occasions, most recently December 8, 2019. Hosts Rick Garceau and Tom Nortz never disappoint. The Christmas decorations were exquisite, fabulous towels and linens in the guest room, a delicious breakfast and of course the outrageous 'Scone War' scones! The location is close to everything, and the guys can give you tips on everything from grocery stores to the best lobster roll in town. If you would like to plan a trip to a classic Cape Cod town, please put this spot on your itinerary. It's everything Patti Page sings about and more. I cannot say enough about the top-notch five-star treatment here at the Captain David Kelley House.

JJ V.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I just stayed at the CDK house for president's day weekend. I have nothing but good things to say about the house as well as Rick & Tom. They were EXTREMELY accommodating to say the least. We booked very last minute (a couple of hours before our arrival), and we felt like the trip was booked months in advanced. These guys are naturals at making us feel at home. The house was clean all around and the bed was comfortable. They were very attentive and hopped right on anything we asked them for. Will definitely be staying here again. -JJ

Yelp
My husband and I have stayed at Captain David Kelley House twice already and plan to return in the future. Of all the B&B's we've ever stayed at, this one is hands down the best! The inn keepers, Rick and Tom, are very friendly: from a welcoming greeting and tour upon arrival to a goodbye hug upon departure. They put on an amazing breakfast performance each morning, and the homemade scones are delicious!

Ann M.

Yelp
This was our family's first trip to Cape Cod. I was apprehensive with a couple teenagers! Rick and Tom were very attentive and the kids had a great time! Everything was spot on - from the location, the decor, to the helpful suggestions . . . and of course the famous Scone Wars. What a hoot! Rick and Tom made breakfast entertaining. Breakfast is served on a beautiful screened in porch and everything was delicious. We will be back!!!

Yelp
A group of girlfriends and I stayed at the CDK house this past weekend for 3 days and absolutely loved it! We can't say enough great things about Rick and Tom- Thank you for your hospitality! One thing I have to mention is the process of leading up to our stay. I made the reservations months in advance because we were coming for July 4th weekend which was very busy for the Cape. Rick and I spoke on the phone several times beforehand, and he and Tom did their best to accommodate our large group and make it work. They noted our food allergies and any other concerns beforehand so they were well prepared when we arrived. We really appreciate that and wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. The whole experience at the CDK house really felt like staying at a friend's house, but much cleaner, nicer and of course served with an amazing breakfast every morning :) Their decor amplified the cape cod feel and made the rooms feel very homey. We stayed at the Alexander Suite, Patience Room, and Captain Kelley Room (there were a lot of us).The rooms were spotless and in pristine condition.Their bedding and bedsheets were so comfortable, now we all plan to purchase something similar! Breakfast was our favorite part of the day, where we enjoyed amazing scones, fresh fruits, and their homemade specialties in the sunroom. One of our friends is vegan and Tom and Rick were so accommodating of her food choices that they made egg-less scones for her (so thoughtful!) and made sure she had plenty of breakfast choices. Because of this, my friend got to have her first scone ever! Rick does his Zumba classes on the back patio twice a week, and we were lucky enough to stay through a Saturday when he does the class. Our whole group joined in and he just had so much energy and made the class so fun! We absolutely loved it. We also spent some time in their backyard that has plenty of lounge chairs, sun umbrellas, and a fire pit- a perfect space to hang out with your friends/ family. Rick and Tom were just so friendly and accommodating- we went to the beach one morning and needed some beach towels; they didn't even hesitate and gave us 1 beach towel per person and bottles of water to go. Overall, I've been to a few other b&b's, but this is by far one of the best experiences. Thanks for making our trip so special! We'll be back!

Anna B.

Yelp
Wow, what a gem! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely B&B for three nights. Rick and Tom (owners) are delightful (and rather funny, I might add)! We can't say enough good things about this spot. Beautiful home, delicious breakfast, great company. Truly a treasure. Fabulous!

Kathleen F.

Yelp
Wahoo! This place IS as good as it gets! The B+B home is a lovely as it is fun. Rick and Tom are enthusiastic and welcoming hosts. The rooms are lovely with every convenience. Breakfast was a treat and SO fun to share their Scone War. It's easy to see why several of the guests during our first stay are returning "friends."

Ken S.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at The Capt David Kelley House recently. Nice clean rooms and great hosts. Now, "watch my lips", if for any reason there might be something you don't like about this place, you WILL go back there anyway just for the breakfast and "The Scone Wars" and the show that goes with it. Great breakfast and a show you will not forget. We WILL return.

lara m.

Yelp
My sister and I stayed here for close to two weeks and everything was perfection. Rick and Tom are the most wonderful, thoughtful hosts and make you feel at home and looked after. The rooms are homey, warm, and beautifully maintained. We both loved staying here.

Leslie R.

Yelp
We loved our stay at this B and B! Rick and Tom were so accommodating and extremely gracious. The home is traditionally decorated beautifully with love. Our room was on the first floor off the living/dining space and couldn't have been more pleasant. With it's own bath, the room was very comfortable and I would request that room again. Every room was immaculately kept. The breakfasts were delicious and entertaining. Yes, I said entertaining. By the time we finished breakfast, we were all smiling and laughing. You will see what I mean if you choose to stay here. All food that is served here is organic. Everything was freshly made with love. I highly recommend staying at the Captain David Kelley House. We will definitely be going back again.

Rose A.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful one night stay at Captain David Kelley's. It is located in the middle of Cape Cod and is a great location for those planning on exploring the Cape in its entirety. We stayed in the Patience room, which was cozy and clean. Rick and Tom were wonderful hosts and made us feel well at home. They also make an excellent breakfast, and made us laugh with their "scone wars". Highly recommended-our only regret is that we had stayed longer!

Debby F.

Yelp
We very much enjoyed staying at Captain David Kelley House in Centerville. The home is stunning and proprietors Rick Garceau and Tom Nortz are gems. Very accommodating, friendly and wonderful hosts. Thanks guys!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
First off, I have to say that I created this Yelp account just to write this review. My fiance and I stayed at the CDK House for four nights. This was the first time either of us had stayed at a bed and breakfast, and it did not disappoint. The first night we got in, Rick stayed out late so that we could check in after a late flight in to Boston. He immediately made us feel very welcome and even offered us menus of recommended places to dine late. We stayed in the Rachel Room which had a side entrance with a private bathroom. The house and the rooms that we saw were decorated with beautiful art and knickknacks, giving it all an extremely cozy atmosphere. We had absolutely no complaints about our room. We came home each day to a freshly cleaned room, made bed, and a chocolate for each of us - milk or dark, they ask your preference! The thing that makes CDK the most unique is the "Scone Wars" at breakfast. Rick and Tom take turns baking fresh warm scones each morning. These were the most delicious scones I've ever had - every one of them! Breakfast was an elaborate 3 course meal, and we rolled away from the table each day. The service was absolutely amazing! Final argument: Rick and Tom clearly are gems in the hospitality business. There is absolutely nothing that they are not prepared to help you with - they have thought of everything. The part that impressed me the most is that they have impressive plans to continue to renovate the CDK House to make it even better. They are not simply satisfied with their excellent service, they strive to constantly improve! I cannot recommend the CDK House more highly. We'll definitely be back again!

Guenevere B.

Yelp
Best Historic Bed & Breakfast in Cape Cod! Our host was witty, fun, and a fantastic cook! The house is authentic and unique, very welcoming! The no children policy was an added relief that ensured a quiet night by the fireplace. We stayed in the Captain Baker room, which had a private entrance. Very affordable, close to everything, yet quiet and secluded... we'd recommend the Captain David Kelly House to everyone.

Janel C.

Yelp
My husband and I just spent part of our honeymoon at the CDK house and really wished we didn't have another place booked after it. It was fantastic!!!! Tom and Rick were incredibly friendly and helpful - always willing to offer restaurant suggestions or beach recommendations. The house was fantastically clean and beautiful! We loved playing games on the porch and the piano in the living room. And the breakfast was SPECTACULAR! Potentially the best we ate the whole trip! We highly, highly, highly recommend the CDK House to anyone planning a trip to Cape Cod!
