There is no other way to grade this experience than to give it 5 stars. Tom and Rick are amazing. The two owners make you feel like they have no purpose on earth other than to make sure that you have everything that you need. ..and, always with a smile on their faces.
When you book and when you check in, they have very specific rules. Most people may not like rules, but we were happy to see them because we agreed with all of them...because the ideas made sense.
Unfortunately for us, we had terrible weather while on the cape. It was really quite disappointing not to be able to do any water or beach activities. The rain and winds were so annoying that every time we attempted to do anything active outdoors, the sideways wind made sure that we were soaked.
Therefore, we ate breakfast inside, had our cocktails and food inside, and missed the fire pit, s'mores, and zumba! Definitely looking forward to everything next time. On a positive note, the home and grounds are impeccably kept, with really neat decor and antiques.
Tom and Rick guided us to excellent restaurants and food for delivery. They even set places for us to eat at the dining room table when we were to lazy to go out and get wet yet again. And when the take out said that it would be 45 minutes, Rick even brought us yummy organic chips in a bowl.
Breakfast was the best part of our day. The scones are amazingly awesome. The large bowl of fresh fruit was excellent. Rick prepared a fresh, delicious entree (which for us was a choice of quiche on 1st day and eggs Benedict with special hollandaise sauce on the 2nd). Fresh juice and coffee or tea complimented the meals...along with fun entertainment.
Our room Phebe was impeccably clean. Couple of slight negatives...we each hit our heads at least once on the bedroom door or in the bathroom, and there is not much shelf room in the bathroom. Otherwise, we had fresh bottled water, coffee/tea, and an evening chocolate to look forward to each night. The bed and linens were very comfortable and comforting.
Overall, we had a great stay and really liked our room, the entire house, breakfast, and the hospitality of Tom and Rick. It doesn't appear to be a business for them but rather an obsession to give their lodgers an amazing experience. But, who wins the scone war.....?
