The lady at the register was so friendly and the food was fabulous. It has been years since I ate at a Captain Ds, will definitely be back

I love this place. It's unchanged for as far back as I can remember and it's always been great, as long as you know what to expect. I always end up stopping by here on the way back from Shands as I have regular appointments downtown but live off Southside, so this captain d's is always pretty much directly on my way back home. It's as good as it was when I was a kid, and the place feels more or less unchanged. It's like a time machine back to the 90s and I love it. Aside from that no matter what time of day I go there, even if it's 2:30pm, the fish and sides are always piping hot and taste cooked to order, and despite the extreme inflation these days, prices are still more than fair. The ladies that run this place, as well as other locations throughout Jacksonville, run a tight ship and are super courteous and run the place with a sense of polite urgency.

I absolutely love this place. My new diet is easily satisfied with the Grilled fish and shrimp offerings. I frequent this location with my friend each week. Excellent for lunch as well as supper. I usually get the grilled white fish with the regular seasoning. The seating area is clean and the 80's music offering makes me feel right at home as a 70's baby.

While in the drive-thru today January 25 at 4pm, I initially attempted to order a fish and fry combo and then requested to change my order to a regular 3-piece dinner. After notifying the employee of the change, I continued reviewing the menu description. The employee responded by stating, “I already have what you want—what sides?” The tone and demeanor of this response were not consistent with professional customer service standards.

They must have a new Lady Manager and I was impressed! She runs a tight ship. We had such bad food and service last time we were there, we did not come back for a long time. I highly recommend this restaurant now. She even helped a working homeless man with what money he had in his pocket. That made me cry. I was so touched. I look forward to coming back soon!

Checked out the senior deals which are all day on Wednesday and Sundays. Captain Ds opens at 10.30am. staff was friendly and the restaurant and restrooms were very clean. FOOD WAS great and a great value because your meal as a senior will include fish , chicken or shrimp with two regular sides and beverage of your choice . Thank you Captain Ds for being a life saver. You make people feel comfortable and home.

Went through the drive-thru and ordered only fish, two different kinds. I drove away and found only two pieces in the box. They were very willing to make it right within minutes. For chain seafood this is pretty good stuff.

The staff at this Captain D's are actually happy to work and serve you. Kanitha and Richard are the best managers, and you can tell by the way the rest of the staff smile and engage customers, especially Joshua. Keep up the good work because this is the only Captain D's we will go to anymore.

The dining room for dine in was closed, but the drive through was open. They were short handed for the time that I was there. A nice young man named BJ was running the window. I asked him if everything was okay. He said they were short handed for the moment, but that it would not be long before help arrived. He was really holding the fort down. My food was good, hot and fresh. Kudos to a dedicated employee! Thanks BJ!

Before Covid my family would come 2-3 times a month. My girls loved the tenders. After Covid, EVERY single time the fries are trash. a couple of hot ones on top from the heat lamp no doubt and cold and old underneath. Having worked food service 12 years I know fresh from old. 50/50 on the hush puppies being fresh. There is NO WAY the kitchen staff would eat the fries with their meal break. Now we visit 3-4 times a year hoping it'll be better. We will stick with Culver's who cook when you order and ALWAYS hot and fresh. It's sad because we'd been coming to Captain D's for over 20 years.

Walked into hearing 3 young employees (2 guys and a girl) cussing and completely ignoring the guests who were already waiting on food. Manager was sitting at the table with her 3 kids and they were taking care of her. Waited for about 4 minutes and could tell that they simply didn't care that I was there so we left. Not gonna deal with ignorant children who lack professionalism and to be honest decency. This store needs a whole new crew at night- good luck if you dine there.

I've always like captain d's fried fish. It was my family's go to joint for fish during lent season. But it's been a minute since I've eaten at captain d's. A few months ago they came out with a lobster roll, which was when I returned to try their new menu item. The fish was the same as I've always remembered it however this review is strictly about the lobster roll. I'm glad they used their rolls instead of another type of bread as the vehicle for the lobster. Their rolls were always so... how to describe it? Fluffy, buttery, savory. The amount of lobster they give is also very generous especially for the price. This lobster roll is 1 star away from a 5 because they don't offer it HOT. I ordered this to-go and went home to toast it in the toaster oven. And boy did it elevate all those flavors?! So good job captain d's for nailing this one. (Especially for a fast food restaurant) definitely unexpected.

Captain D's is one of my fave places to eat, but they are dead wrong on that new lobster roll. It was just 2 scoops of generic fake lobster, looked nothing like the photo.

Clean and friendly service Food was hot and fresh Staff was helpful and knowledgeable of menu items and specials I had the seafood sampler eith fries and broccoli Side of shrimp and cream cheese cake for dessert Will be back again for lots more of this great food

The food is great... 2/9/2024 Friday night at 845pm The manager sat at Table with a guest for the entire time we were there looking at videos laughing and making very loud remarks. We finally left before finishing our food due to the extreme noise coming from the two of them... First time ever it was like that.... They need to get rid of that manager...

IMO Captain D's has the best kids meal (and the $2.49 coupon they always offer in the mailbox only adds glitter to the party) I get the one that comes with 1 piece of battered fish, two sides a drink and a cookie. It's always been fresh and hot, they have yet to forget my sauces (and that's crucial) and they have yet to give me bad customer service. I don't do fast food a whole lot but this is one of the places that I can eat without getting sick. Never a hit and miss, and very consistent no matter what time I drive thru!

Update! I followed the instructions on what to regarding my bad experience and I missed the call of the manager because I didn't hear the phone ring. I was going to return the call once I got home but I didn't know who to call back because she DIDN'T LEAVE HER NAME ON THE VOICEMAIL!! However I am very impressed that someone did reach out to me to resolve my issue. Thank you

Date night with my Loves ( husband ) Captain D's hit the spot. Our order was fresh, the customer service from the manager to the cashier was excellent. It was clean and they were playing my Jam. It was GREAT

It was ok. But the service sucked. Next time I'll go to drive thru Ok . I'm Like

Imitation lobster I expected but the roll was old, dry and hard. Only a few sprigs of lettuce. However, the fish sandwich was still good. Stick to that.

Although I'm not a fan of Captain D's, everyone on my Facebook friends list have been raving over the newest menu item: fried oysters. Surpringly they were really good and fried to perfection! Try them out and let me know what you think.... I ate a few before snapping the picture.

This is the worst captain ds I've ever seen!! The cashier Terry, was just rude. I asked if I could get the catfish instead of the white fish with the shrimp. And he said nope. And then a girl said he can add shrimp to the 2 peice catfish, I asked him how much he said 20 dollars. I'm not kidding. So I got the regular fish and shrimp. Food was ok. But the restaurant was dirty. Had to get plastic forks because I don't think they washed the metal forks. Trash can overflowing,and they just stood behind the counter talking. Pumps for dips was broken asked the girl if someone could fix , looked at me and just walked away!! So don't go here. Especially if you are white, As soon as Black couple asked about the pumps she came and fixed it!!

Loving the lobster, fish, and shrimp with two regular sides deal this week for only $4.99. Now you really can't beat that.

I have to rave about the new management of this location. He has taken this fast food location to a new level. We were greeted at the register and placed our order. The dining room area is impeccably clean and I'm overhearing his crew managers mentoring a new crew member. We were handed an order ready pager but our food was delivered to our table. Our food came out fresh and hot. The management followed up with us as well as a kitchen member. The condiments were well stocked. Very impressed for a fast food restaurant.

8/15/21 6pm Worst experience I've ever had. Besides missing over half of my meal. I get flack from a condescending manager whom obviously cares less about her job, or better yet being professional. After calling to let them know that my order was missing over half of the contents, I was put on hold listening to the phone being handled several times before being hung up on, I was finely addressed by the manager after calling back just to hear her say it's chaotic, which was her or her staffs excuse for not checking the receipt or bag before hand off. And then snarkely told me to have a nice day. As an owner/manager I would think longer wait times would be better than not making sure the customer has what they already "paid" for. And being rude certainly does not help maters. I don't care how busy you are especially coming from a manager. maybe your in the wrong field. Captain D's use to be one of my favorites.

i have been trying to reach someone both here and corporate for a refund for a double charge for an order in may....... to this date i have not heard from anyone that can help to resolve this issue. so good luck with customer service they dont mind taking your money but getting it back or a coupon not to mention a return call would have been appreciated...

The food was excellent and the value was great!!!! My wife had the Alaskan Salmon cakes meal with rice, coleslaw, and broccoli for $4.99. I had the shrimp platter dinner for $7.99. That was butterfly shrimp, popcorn shrimp, grilled shrimp, coleslaw, hush puppies and fried okra. The service was also very good too. Wish we had one of these where we live.

I am starting to write this as I am still waiting after 30 minutes for my food. I had a larger order of 6 meals but this is ridiculous. People that came in after me have already been fed. I have not been told why the wait is so long or addressed in any way by the manager or staff. The total wait time ended up being 40 minutes then they finally got my order together. Then they asked if I wanted a drink ! Like no thanks I've been waiting an hour almost but now that I'm about to leave you offer me a drink. I'm happy they made the food fresh but I really would have appreciated if they told me that there would be a wait at any point but they didn't. And before you think "why didn't you ask?" Well I shouldn't have to. The manager and front staff passed me at least 20 times and never said anything. I am very disappointed because the food was delicious and I would love to have somewhere so close to my house to go to. I do not know if I will ever go back though after this experience. 2 stars for the food only.

When me, my mom and my children went here the floor was really slippery like the used grease to mop the floors. This was like 30 minutes in to when they opened last monday. The food was warm not hot and they really dont tell you where things are in less you as a hundred times. No one really cleans the tables or comes and check on you to see how your doing or if you need anything. I will go out of my way to go to a different place to go then here. The time before that me and my husband went with one of our children and it was a mess. The food was cold and the tables where gross it was just a hot mess.

Stopped here today to get my father in law his lunch after seeing their Piece of Fish and 8 Butterflied Shrimp for $4.99 and seeing as he loves shrimp I got it for him and he loved it.

What a nice place. Very friendly staff, food always hot, tasty and fresh. Large portions that will not break the wallet. This is far better than the expensive seafood places that serve mediocre food. Yeah the atmosphere is fast food, but the taste is not. Reccomended

Stopped by here for a quick lunch around 1 today. Drive thru was fast, food was as to be expected and service had a smile. Would definitely recommend.

Went to Captain D's to enjoy some seafood. They forgot to put our shrimp skewer in with our order and after making it home we had to drive back just to get it. Not only was the shrimp skewer itself disappointing for the money you spend but the creamy shrimp scampi had no cream on it and tasted like boiled noodles with salt. Terrible tasting food added too expensive price makes the experience completely unacceptable

slow /wrong . ate in and order came out missing appetizer , it was brought when I asked a few times .I requested a new baked potato because mine was cool/old and had a bad spot . I had to hear a conversation about it not being a bad potato so the same one was returned to me with the spot removed . they had more but I guess they wanted to get rid if the old ones first. appetizer came when we were finished eating !

Captain D'S is a regular dining spot for us. We were in the Jacksonville area and decided to stop at the Atlantic Blvd location for a quick and easy dinner. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary when we walked in. We where standing there at the ordering counter for a while before the one taking the orders paid any attention to us. When he did acknowledge us he seemed to be very occupied with something else. When we told him our orders he didn't ask what sides or any of the usual questions so we had to bring then up ourselves. After paying for or order he just went on to the next customer in line. We didn't receive our order ready buzz pad or drinks. We had to ask for them. We both got fried shrimp and they were the smallest we had ever received at any Cap D's location. We certainly won't stop dining at Cap D's for this one incident but we will not return to this location.

Store 3378 Order # 0138Food was good. Prep time and customer service wad horrid. We came in and placed our order. We waited 22 minutes until I got up and went to ask about our food. The lady at the counter was polite and went to the window to inquire about our order. We waited 25 minutes for two 3 piece fish meals while the drive through kept getting their orders an moving on. I asked for a manager and a discount. I was informed the manager is in the back cooking. Half way through our meal a cashier came up and asked if we would like a slice of pie. Manager never came out. No one said sorry or apologized for the 25 minute service on a slow Sunday night.

Stopped here yesterday for two 3 pc. fish dinners and two 15 butterfly shrimp dinners TO GO. At first everything seemed OK - but it took 14 1/2 minutes for my order to be ready. When it was the counter lady opened the containers and I noticed it looked a little "light" on the amount of shrimp. Supposed to be 15 - one box had 7 and the other had 10. When I brought this up to the counter lady she got mad/frustrated, slammed the door when she took the shrimp containers back to the kitchen, Came back in less than a minute - I scanned the boxes and they looked OK - I didn't want to make any further fuss. When I got home one box had the original 10 and the other box (previously 7) now had 12. I expect when I pay for 15 shrimp I get 15 shrimp. Plus as one of the other reviewers said the shrimp were very small. Will not go here again.
