Captain Jaks

Very organized, clean, and friendly tours. We loved our guide for monkey river. Saw lots of crocodiles, birds, iguanas, then stopped at a place on the river to visit the howling monkeys. Again, our guide was AMAZING the entire time, REALLY explaining things in depth. So much that we had no concerns taking our 3 and 7 year old. They know the land and animals. We felt safe and enjoyed the entire experience. They have a lot of different options for excursions and we also rented our golf cart from them. It was perfect service. They dropped off and picked up the cart from where we were staying. **monkey river tour advice- DON’T wear dark clothing, I did and the mosquitoes were terrible. Just plan ahead with closed toe shoes and good bug spray. If you are like me and really attract them, I would suggest bringing a pair of pants you can slip on easy with long socks for the forest tour part. While in the boat we were fine, just walking the jungle I was unprepared.

We did a tour of Monkey River this week and got to experience the boat ride there through the Caribbean, through the mangroves and down the river. Doyle and Doyle Jr were both amazing at their knowledge of the river, the wildlife there, the plants, flowers, the monkeys, the jungle, and also the village. They were very accommodating to our comfort and safety the whole time. We also ended the trip on a manatee hunt and saw a few. What a great experience overall. Captain Jak's has the best tours and tour guides in Placencia.

My family party of 9 did two tours with Captain Jak’s — Monkey River and Laughing Bird Caye. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and kind. Not to mention some amazing boat drivers!! We had great communication from the beginning as we asked a lot of questions to figure out if these tours would be good for a 1 year old and a 71 year old! We all had a wonderful time and took away some very special memories 😊

I did the Xunantunich and Blue Hole trip with them in May 2025. Do not confuse with the Great Blue Hole which is something else completely! I had a very competent and fun guide who was named Pablo himself of Mayan origin which made his explanation heart felt. Tours are a little pricey but this is Belize and not specifically this tour operator whose prices are similar to others. Pablo is a safe driver, keeps the van immaculately clean, offers plenty of water and brought us to a nice local restaurant between activities.

We went on the snorkeling and diving excursion. Us snorkeling folks went on a very enjoyable adventure. We went to silk caye and Moho caye. The reef snd fish were amazing. We saw a turtle, nurse sharks and sting rays all swimming together outside if the reef. It was a beautiful experience. The staff was great and accommodating.

My husband and I did the Monkey River tour through Captain Jaks. Our group included another couple and a large family with kids. Our tour guide Doyle did an exceptional job providing us with tons of information, answering all of our questions and making sure everyone was having a great time… not to mention he was an excellent boat driver. We had more fun than we anticipated and saw a lot of wildlife. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

If you want clear turquoise water this is the trip to book! I mean water like you see in the movies. We had an amazing time on the boat and at the island; the crew (Captain Cubby, Alex, & Sudan) were a big reason why. They took such great care of us. Would absolutely book again!

My wife and I went to Placencia for our honeymoon and used captain jaks for 2 excursions. First, we did the cacao farm/waterfall tour and it was amazing! Pablo, our guide, was very knowledgeable and could not have been nicer ! The farm was super interesting and they walk you through the chocolate making process from start to finish. The waterfall was incredible and was the definition of refreshing! Our 2nd trip, we went snorkeling with Nick and Doyle and it was incredible ! A completely different world around the corals and marine reserve! Had amazing local island lunch on a private island w dream scenery. Overall, captain jaks were professional , knowledgeable, and overall happy/kind people that made our experience everything we could have hoped for. Will definitely use them in the future !
