Captain's Club Hotel, Christchurch, Dorset, England - Explore & Book

"Christchurch is a great destination for a UK holiday, thanks to its beautiful sandy beaches, its proximity to Europe's largest natural harbour at Poole, and the attractions of Bournemouth and the New Forest nearby. It’s always been popular, but while it was home to a Pontin's Holiday Resort until the early 1990s, you'll now find something altogether more stylish. This modern, nautical building of wood panelling, aquamarine port holes and swathes of glass is a destination in its own right. Housing a luxurious spa, a lively bar popular with locals, and an atmospheric restaurant serving great seafood, we soon fell into holiday mode. Sipping champagne on the terrace, overlooking a river dotted with sailing boats and swans, it felt like the perfect spot for a short break. And thankfully, there was not a Pontin's blue coat in sight. Highs Fantastic location: picturesque, popular, and perfect for pottering about the park and taking the ferry to nearby beachesA luxurious spa with a hydrotherapy pool; we booked in for a massage during our visit and couldn’t recommend it highly enoughAll rooms have river views and a sunny evening on the riverfront terrace calls for cocktailsA creative dinner menu and wine list; afternoon teas are also a highlight (pre-booking is essential)Families will feel right at home in the 2- and 3-bedroom suites Lows In summer, noise carries from the terrace to the rooms above. However, diners must move indoors at 11pm, and, let's face it, you'll probably be down there with themThe function spaces regularly host events, making it a touch more corporate than most i-escape offeringsThe interior design is cool and calming, but not cutting-edge The air con unit can be heard from certain roomsBook ahead for the popular spa and restaurant" - Emma Taylor

We stayed here for one night. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost courtesy and made to feel very welcome. Our room was clean, well designed and had a beautiful view of the river. The bed was comfy, and there was everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed a couple of well made cocktails on the terrace in the sunshine, and then a very nice dinner in the restaurant. The food was flavoursome and well presented, and service was attentive and friendly. Breakfast in the morning was excellent too, with a range of choices. Service was a little slow at times, but this made us feel relaxed. We could also appreciate that the kitchen were cooking everything fresh, and making sure that the food was of quality, not just pre cooked and put on a plate. I would highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

My partner and I visited here after a recommendation from "15 mile foodie" a food blogger and a friend of mine. The service and food were spectacular from the minute we stepped into the building. Thank you especially to Harry and Dennis you made our visit very memorable and the food was fabulous. My partner agreed with other reviews that the prawn cocktail was as described, amazing, and to be honest all the food was, there was a choice of potatoes to go with the sea bass and to end with the best bread and butter pudding we have ever had! Compliments to the the chef and all the staff. We will definitely be back and in my opinion it's the only place to eat when coming to Christchurch!

Lovely hotel in a perfect location overlooking the river , great outdoor terrace we enjoyed sitting under the palm trees 🌴 in the shade watching the activity of the rowers, paddle boarders and fancy yachts. Great bar plenty of choice and enjoyable cocktails. Restaurant food was delicious, service was slow but staff were friendly and apologetic. The room was clean and bright with fantastic views and house keeping were wonderful always cheerful. The spa pool was on the small size but it was a good idea to limit numbers to compensate and the water was lovely and warm which I loved. Hope to come back !

Fabulous hotel situated next to the river Stour, we enjoyed drinks and snacks sat on the terrace watching the boats and paddle boarders on the river, the stream of joggers running by, the dogs and children splashing about on the far side of the river along with people fishing just watching the world go by. We could also enjoy the river view from our bedroom which was spacious light and airy with big windows and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom spacious with a large walk in shower lovely soft towels and bath robes. Tea and coffee making facilities with delicious cookies that were replenished every day. The wonderful staff always smiling, happy to help and genuinely interested to know that you were having a good time without detriment to the great service they provided. The food and drinks quality superb. A hot breakfast cooked to your choice and liking along with fresh fruit, cereals, pastries muffins and yoghurts. All presented with care and attention to detail. A variety of dishes on offer for lunch and dinner, wherever you choose to eat be it in the lounge , restaurant or on the terrace the high level of service never wavered and neither did the quality. Afternoon tea looked decadent although unfortunately I did not get to partake on this visit but will be sure to do so next time. It’s so relaxing staying here I did not want to leave. This is my happy place. I am looking forward to my next visit already. Thank you Captains Club for a most enjoyable and memorable stay.

Overall an enjoyable experience. Room was very clean. A few minor issues which I addressed to housekeeping. Staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was generous and filling. Hotel parking right in front of the property. Nice place to stay for short stay/long weekend.

Amazing break at this fabulous hotel. Room was well appointed with lovely views over the river. Staff in all departments were kind, thoughtful, helpful, polite and went way above what was expected of them. Thank you Josh for dealing with mu husband's allergy to vinegar!! Food was delicious with excellent choices. Highly recommend this hotel and hoping to return in September

Had a day time drink with the girls to celebrate a 40th birthday. Was a lovely atmosphere but I had great company. We stayed inside for the most part it was very hot and quite busy outside. We had a toddler with us due to a childcare issue and this was not a problem at all, he was happy being entertained by us all. The cocktails were lovely although the second was not as strong as the first. The service was friendly. Not rushed at all. View across to wick is beautiful, you could easily make a day of exploring Christchurch/ wick/ tuckton and then come here for dinner and drinks. They have a spa and do afternoon tea if that's more your cup of tea.

My partner and I stayed here over the weekend and the welcome, service and staff were as impeccable as always. Nothing was too much trouble and the 'over and above' attitude only adds to the experience. We were so fortunate to be given an upgrade and had a gorgeous suite of rooms on the second floor, stunning views of the river and we will never grow tired of waking up to that view. All our meals were delicious and we can't wait to return in the summer.
