Rick Easton’s Grub Street Diet

"A creamery whose whey-based ricotta is prized by the bakery for its distinct taste and texture; unlike common whole-milk ricotta, this whey ricotta has a different mouthfeel and is the bakery’s preferred ingredient for ricotta-centric preparations." - Chris Crowley, Sarah Kilcoyne

If you live for memorable experiences, this local option will not disappoint! Rynn and Dave create culinary genius, and their cheese will leave you wanting more. It doesn't hurt that they are super friendly, and their staff is excellent. Book well in advance!

Shhhhh - this is a hidden gem! The farm table dinners are the most wonderful experience in authentic Italian cuisine. And the Caputos really know how to make their guests feel welcome. It is an experience you won't forget, and will want to do over and over.

So much fun to taste some new cheeses and learn about the production process. The cheese was delicious and the owners were very welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable & informative. It was a great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.

Just had our first Caputo Brothers Creamery first experience this weekend after hearing friends rave about the place. We were not disappointed! The Farm-to-Table dinner we attended was truly magnificent. Five delectable courses were served and everything on our plates was just a delight. While the menu changes at each dinner - you can expect amazing food no matter when you dine with them Learning about the Caputo family and how much local food they source was both educational and entertaining. Speaking of local, the plates we dined on were made by Hanover potters - Tessem Stoneware. The owners stretched mozzarella before our eyes and we got to sample it while still warm. Save room for dessert (they have to go boxes handy) because their cannoli are wonderful. Book early because these dinner sell out fast! We came home with frozen mozzarella to stretch when we're ready and fresh ricotta (the best I've ever tasted). Caputo Brothers Creamery made this Italian girl very happy!

OMG! Bought the virtual cannoli class. I’ve never had such amazing cannoli. Just outstanding and the video makes it a fun little weekend night family event. We also bought some smoked mozzarella. That was the perfect amount of smoke and was so smooth and creamy. I will be getting more from Caputo Brothers!

An amazing culinary experience and tremendous flavors! We are so lucky to have this cheese producer in our own back yard. When you attend one of their limited engagement events you are treated to an internationally influenced assortment of dishes and of course some fantastic cheese made right in the same building. There is no other dining experience where the owners feed you, teach you and spend the evening with you and your family and friends. Check out their website for their special lunch hours and to sign up for one of their events. Bring plenty of wine!!

I stopped in for lunch and decided to try almost everything. The grilled cheese, risotto cake where phenomenal. The lasagna was good as well. Everything tasted fresh. I'm not a huge fan of tomato soup but I would have no problem ordering theirs again. I would even say this is the best quality of food I have had in spring grove, York and Hanover.

Yelp
First off they make the best fresh Mozzarella you can buy. All the cheese is made fresh and if you go into the retail home store they will let you taste anything if you ask. Definitely getting some of the Chesapeake Gouda, it looks fantastic. Also they started doing a beer cheese collaboration with Troegs, can't wait to try these. They do cheese making classes, taste testing parties. They sell to Restaurants and Retailers in all 50 states if I'm not mistaken so you may have had a dish made with their amazing cheese while dinning out and you didn't even know it. A beautiful little hidden gem in Spring Grove, PA that most people don't even know about but should definitely check out. Cheese Lovers dream come true!

Yelp
One of the best places in the US for fresh Mozzarella cheeses. I learned so much about Italian cheeses, the process of making cheese and all about the cheese cave. I had a great time. Looking forward to going to the restaurant.

Yelp
(4.25) ~ Very good Overall cheese CHEESES: ** Fresh Ricotta(whey-based) = (5) Excellent! Best I've had:) ** Mozzarella = (4) very authentic, but I think if you can get their CapoMozz(Cultured Cheese Curds) and then make it Fresh at Home, it would easily be a (5)! You can now take their Class virtually;) ** Smoked Mozzarella = (4) very good ** Provola(aged Mozzarella) = (4) very good

Yelp
Love their cheese! Wish they were open at their location, instead of having to purchase their cheese in grocery store.

Yelp
My family participated in a virtual mozzarella pulling class over the weekend. The whole process was easy: we purchased tickets online, received a zoom video link via email and supplies/curds were delivered on ice via Fed Ex a day ahead. Add some hot and cold water, a few random kitchen tools and you'll have a 90minute activity full of information and fun! The end result = fantastic mozzarella cheese and "liquid gold." The cheese is amazing and the process easy enough to never eat store bought again. We will definitely be regulars!! I've already shared the idea with friends as far away as Washington State...

Yelp
I didn't eat there but I went in to get a loaf of homemade Italian bread they wanted $7.00 for a very burnt loaf of bread I would never pay that kind of Money for that bread even if it wasn't burnt.

Yelp
I only wish they were in CA! Through GMA I ordered two of the "beer packs". They were awesome. So impressed with how they were delivered, as well. I only wish I could try their ricotta! And WHAT, they have cooking classes? Maybe I need to move!

Yelp
Good ice cream. Very attractive shop. Would go back. My daughter and I got ice cream and they were fast and friendly.

Yelp
OMG, I had the exact same reaction and same thing happen as Mary Tochelli did on the REVIEW PAGE of Caputo Brothers Creamery Facebook page. Mine arrived HOT and I messaged them and they said just put it in the frig, it would be ok. All morning I worked on this EXACTLY like they said, messaging the entire time that it wasn't working. They just kept sending video links. Water 190°, stainless bowl, rubber gloves, strainer, timer etc. There were NO instructions in my pkg. though they insisted there were. I sent a photo and said it was like cottage cheese and they kept sending videos. If I could post this somewhere I thought people would actually read it and see it, I would, bu I don't know where to do that. Also, I kept telling them that I think it was bad since it was delivered hot...not just warm from a car, but HOT....maybe too many days in the shipping etc. I was a charter cook for MANY years in the Caribbean and was even asked by a N.Y. publishing house to write a cookbook, which I did. You can see that on Amazon, if you google my whole name, SYLVIA WILLIAMS DABNEY. It's called "The Boaters Cookbook", just to prove the point that I KNOW HOW TO COOK and this was a TOTAL failure with a disappointing response from the owners of Caputo Brothers Creamery. Again...it turned out like cottage cheese!!! I sent them the pic of a bowl of cottage chesse...NO RESPONSE AT ALL. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE Mozzarella!!!!! AND if I knew how to post that picture here, I WOULD!!!

Yelp
I went to Caputo Brothers to pick up a few of their house made cheeses and decided to stay for lunch. I was very impressed with the food I was served. I had a noodle soup as well as the cheesy bread. Wow! Were they both excellent. This is a tucked away gem located in the heart of Spring Grove! If you are looking for a different place to go for lunch consider the drive for a wonderful experience. And while you are there you can grab some fresh cheese to take home with you!

Yelp
AH-MAZING! Best cheese in the world! Mozzarella is a must!

Rachel B.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I got gifted a virtual mozzarella making class from Caputo Brothers and it was such a fun & yummy quarantine activity. All of the ingredients arrived on dry ice and the virtual class (which was actually a video recording, not live) was accessed via their website with a code. It was fun and educational. I enjoyed it so much that I actually ended up giving the same class as a gift to a family member! Also, the customer service at this company is awesome. The shipping to my family member got delayed and they were so apologetic, responsive and helpful. Love to support small family-owned business like this!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful dinner "event". 5 Italian courses of fabulous food made by 2 chefs trained in Italy. Many courses contain cheese made by their own creamery on site. Fresh herbs and vegetables were also grown by the chefs or were bought at a local farmers market. The couple that run Caputos, share their love of Italian cooking and food. As diners, you can assist in pulling your own fresh mozzarella, nothing compares to fresh, warm mozzarella, and you can participate in making your own pasta. What a lovely night spent with friendly people who seem to really enjoy everything they are doing! Expect to spend about 4 hours. BYOB

Yelp
Once you have there cheese you realize we haven't been eating real mozzarella here in the United States. Went for a cheese making class and left with bags full of cheese and cheese curds. I recommend signing up for the class threw Groupon to get a discount. These place is the real deal when it comes to cheese in the area. I'm from upstate ny, Italian family and have not had cheese like this except for up home. Quality products and a great team behind them !

Yelp
I saw a deal for this business on Groupon and decided to make the trip. Our tour guide was very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the business. I learned quite a bit from the tour, but the best part was the cheese samples at the end. I have never eaten mozzarella that fresh before, and there is really no going back to grocery store mozzarella, now that I have. I also got some pepper jelly to take home. Not something I thought I would like, but it really is incredibly delicious.

Valerie M.

Yelp
I ordered the virtual mozzarella class and it was a blast. Turned out fantastic. Super informative and so much fun. We immediately made pizza and used the ghee for a shrimp pasta dish. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Purchased a tour and tasting through Groupon. Fabulous cheese! As part of the tasting, co-owner made fresh stretched mozzarella from their cheese curds. It was a little warm, soft and absolutely DELICIOUS!!! She was so informative about the cheese making process and very engaging. Bought some of the curds to bring home and stretch fresh myself (they show you how). I will definitely be a return customer!

Yelp
I did the same thing. Got it on Deals etc. on Good Morning America. Turned out HORRIBLE. Would NEVER try their stuff again!!

Yelp
What a great culinary event this weekend at @caputobrothers in Spring Grove, PA. Wonderful food all around, but cheese like you can't get anywhere else. Make it a priority to order some right away. And if you can, register for the next available culinary event...it will make your week.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed visiting Caputo Bros Creamery for a cheese tasting tour today! So much more than just tasting cheese though-learned a lot about cheese making-very interesting and informative and entertaining! Cheese was delicious! And facility immaculate! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Best cheese on the East Coast.. once you go caputo, you won't torna indietro!
