I had really high hopes for Caracalla, especially after planning this trip a month in advance. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish, like AWFUL!
For weeks I tried emailing to book a treatment. I did get responses, but no one actually helped me schedule anything. They kept saying I could just walk in, even though online booking wasn’t working. When I arrived in Baden-Baden and went in person, the woman at the desk told me they were fully booked. After asking more questions, suddenly two appointment times appeared — so I took the earliest one.
I asked if my husband could buy a day pass or even a couple of hours at the thermal baths while I had my treatment, and she told me absolutely not and that it was “forbidden.”
The next morning I found out that you can rent time by the hour — and I was actually charged for four hours, even though the treatment itself included a couple of hours of bath access. Essentially, I was charged twice, and the staff member told me they could not refund me and “deal with it, lady.”
The whole place felt unclean, run-down, and shockingly unkept for such a famous spa. I was genuinely shocked by how dirty some areas were. My treatment was supposed to be one hour but only lasted 35 minutes. I left feeling worse than when I arrived.
To make matters worse, a man approached me and asked me to get naked in the sauna together — it felt extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable.
I would strongly recommend reconsidering a visit here. The photos online make it look beautiful, but the reality was chaotic, unhelpful, and far below the standard you’d expect from a wellness spa in Baden-Baden. I left frustrated, upset, and honestly wishing I had spent my time elsewhere.
