Disappointing.
In the city’s largest thermal complex, they won’t even give you a glass of tap water for free (4,5€), and that pretty much sets the tone.
Yes, you can relax a bit, but the whole place feels like a spa experience frozen in 2005: dated, worn-out, and in parts visibly damaged. The pools, especially the outdoor ones, are not warm enough. You can’t stay outside for long before it becomes uncomfortable.
The saunas and steam rooms are also nothing special, which is disappointing for a “top German resort.” Overall, it feels like both the city and these spas haven’t aged well.
I wouldn’t come to Baden-Baden for the spa experience. Only worth it if you’re here anyway to enjoy the nearby hills and use it as a base for trips to France and Switzerland.
