Everyone who ever tries them loves these tortillas. That's just a fact. Don't take my word for it, just ask Bon Appetit, The Today Show, LA Taco, Wall Street Journal, Smitten Kitchen, Feast Magazine, Denver Post, The Kitchn, Rick Martinez and the Babish Culinary Universe, Modern Huntsman, and the hundreds (thousands?) of Instagram and TikTok posts extoling their virtue. And as an aside while I have you here, to complain about the policies of a small, micro even, business because of your Amazon-driven, capitalistic, I-want-it-now sensibilities says more about you than the business you're trying to badmouth.

Best flour tortillas money can buy. Reuben is a hard working, dedicated, and friendly fellow who always does the best he can to deliver the finest product to the customer. It's OK to have an opinion contrary to this, but know that you are in the wrong if you feel Caramelo is anything but the best.

These are the best tortillas I have had and i am so excited some of our local establishments are either selling them or using them in their menu offerings. I have also ordered directly from Caramelo and am always pleased with the efficiency and customer service. I highly recommend the duck fat tortillas.

When I first saw Caramelo come on the scene I was a little bit hesitant to try them because of the prices but it is WELL WORTH IT! Yes, you may find cheaper tortillas somewhere else but they are not as high quality as Caramelo's. Go ahead and buy your Mission tortillas that will go stale in a couple of days. You can tell that Ruben has put a lot of passion into making really good tortillas. I can't wait for the totopos. I was impressed at the research that was done to develop their corn tortillas an totopos! By the way I say this as "competing" business because I make tamales and sometimes do corn tortillas for customers who request them (I'm in the Pacific Northwest). The demand for my tortillas is not as high so I just stick with regular corn but if someone is looking for great quality tortillas, wholesale or in a smaller amount for a special menu, I have no problem recommending Caramelo. I read through some comments and as small business owner it bothers me that people don't see that small businesses cannot compare to Amazon in regards to shipping times, communication or refunds. Not knowing everything that happened between some of those customers and Caramelo, I may not have much to say about it but there are times when the Point-of-Sale system will not allow for cash or credit card refunds.

Best tortillas, even better customer service. I’ve ordered Caramelo tortillas regularly for many years, and have always had a smooth experience. Communication with the owner is always timely, he even gives me a heads up when my order is about to ship. Our family goes through a pack or two a week, and they keep on getting better. 10/10 🫶🏼

I’ve been buying Caramelo tortillas since they first started and I gotta say they’re just amazing, the taste, texture and quality are great, it feels like you’re buying them directly from a store in Northwestern Mexico, they go perfect with a lot of different dishes or just to heat them and eat them directly, I also have to say that Mr. Ruben, the owner, has been very friendly and focusing that we receive them right in time and well. I do recommend them a lot, you don’t find anything like this in the US.

Kinda disgusted by the way the owner, Ruben handled a mistake made by his company. I have been anticipating my packages of tortillas, they came in from FedEx today with one package of duck fat tortillas missing. When I contacted him to rectify the mistake, he simply stated that he would be refunding the amount of the missing pack. However, 2 major keys make this decision everything BUT customer-centered. 1) I ordered using a gift card I was given for Christmas, (therefore he was refunding the $8.99 to the purchaser of the gift card.) Therefore, slighting me MY $50 gift card. 2) CARAMELO has a $35 minimum purchase requirement, and $16 shipping. So there is no way for me to order JUST the missing package. I made my request clear, and Ruben dismissed it by repeating what he’d said in the previous email. At this point, the tortillas could be amazing, but supporting this business and its lack of customer service/appreciation, is out of the question. This is NOT what our industry (hospitality/service) is based on. And it’s sad that a company who has gained notoriety and has grown off the backs of its customers and word-of-mouth, would have no concept of customer service.

This tortillas are like no other!! 7 years of hard work. Ruben is very strict with the quality of the ingredients. He had the vision of Avocado tortillas and Duck fat tortillas. No one made those tortillas before. If you read about him, you will realized the love for his business and his costumers. We love, love Caramelo!!!

Yelp
Amazing Saturday tacos!!! Steak and chorizo were so well cooked and the corn tortillas complemented the smoky-sweet-tangy meats. Tortillas are so delicious they can be eaten just by themselves. if you crave authenticity and value genuine craftsmanship, you need to visit Carmelo in Lawrence, Kansas.

Yelp
Duck Fat Tortillas! Duck Fat Tortillas! Duck Fat Tortillas! Luckily in Southern California, we are surrounded by not-heartless*, tortillerias autentica. How did I end up with $50's worth of duck fat tortillas from Kansas? *search Guerrero, Maseca, and Mission tortilla brands defying demands for exit These tortillas are Sonoran-style, and Sonoran-style tortillas are typically made from flour than corn, and are paper thin and chewy. "Regular" massed produced tortillas that we're used to use baking powder for leavening. Caramelo makes their duck fat tortillas with non-GMO enriched wheat flour, duck fat from cage-free ducks, water, and sea salt. That's it! There are no preservatives and they provide best-by dates on the packaging of about 4-6 weeks. They also offer regular pork fat tortillas and a vegetarian option made from avocado oil. My 6" duck fat tortillas came 12 count to an order, and they arrived with a Nordic Ice pack in a foil-bubble pouch inside a FedEx pouch. It would be prudent to order a lot and freeze them to minimize shipping waste. They are made-to-order and ship Mondays-Thursday. If sold out, the following batch is available each Thursday at noon Central. These things are so delicious, I can eat the tortillas warmed up all on their own. But, these are perfect with scrambled eggs or slow-cooker pork or just about anything. They may be thin, but they are mucho delicioso. Also, it was fun watching them puff up on the cast iron pan. The website was easy to navigate. I still had some questions and Ruben replied very promptly and seems like a cool guy. Where else can you find duck fat flour Sonoran-style tortillas in America? I haven't come across them in Los Angeles. Not even Sonoratown LA makes them with duck fat (theirs is made with lard). Unless you make them yourself, I think Caramelo is the only place that sells Duck Fat Tortillas!
