5 Vintage-Inspired Outfits to Wear on Vacation This Summer

"Located on the northern Cornwall coast, Carbis Bay Estate is known for its tranquil ambiance and historical charm, dating back to 1894. It's an ideal destination for those looking to enjoy the English seaside in a serene environment, away from the more tropical locales."

Exceptional hotel with amazing views and coastline and a simple warm welcome everytime that feels like going back home. Staff are exceptional at every level, attentive, inviting, engaging, ensuring your best stay and experience throughout your stay. Always a 5 star experience, rooms are absolutely fabulous, and we have experienced many over the last 15 years and the standard never falters. Its a magical time no matter the weather. Food and service is always outstanding, exceptional quality. We will keep going back, year after year to Carbis Bay, a little gem and especially if you are planning a celebration, the hotel cater 100% for your needs and wants ensuring the most memorable occasion every time. Highly recommended for all. The estate and Spa is simply beautiful, well maintained and offers outstanding facilities, restaurants and views, with coastal walks in both directions.

We stayed at the Hare Pod in St Ives. Upon arrival the check in was great and the chap which took us to our pod was attentive and knowledgeable. We requested the breakfast for the morning which was great. Saturday night we were going to eat at the hotel but once the kids saw the takeaway menu that was it! The service was great and the food fantastic. Ordering on the in house iPad was perfect. The hotel WhatsApp us for our Sunday breakfast arrangements and we requested more butter not expecting this would be considered but it was! Every detail was considered and nothing was too much trouble. The pods are amazing, comfortable and great for a getaway, we will be back in the future.

We have just returned from a weekend away at Carbis Bay. It was my husband’s birthday weekend and we stayed in lodge 3. ||Nothing is too much trouble for the team at Carbis who work tirelessly to make sure your stay is just perfect. Our concierge Sam was amazing and on hand to help with anything we needed. ||The lodge was spacious and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We have been many times to Carbis and cannot find anything that compares. It’s just perfect. I’m back again in a few weeks for the Bublé night which will be amazing I’m sure.|This place is totally what we need to get away from it all, as soon as we arrive we feel so relaxed. A huge thank you to everyone who makes this such a special place to stay.

We recently stayed in one of the dog cottages at Carbis Bay Hotel and overall had a lovely time, but there were a few things worth mentioning. Although we keep our dog very clean, there was a noticeable dog smell in the cottage when we arrived, which was a bit off-putting. Because of this, we chose to eat in the restaurant rather than make use of the in-room dining option, which also felt like it might have been a little isolating.||On the positive side, the cottage itself was well equipped, with a lovely selection of items in the fridge and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and having the beach and the Christmas market right on the doorstep made the experience even more special.|One suggestion would be to introduce a dog-friendly bar or communal space, as not having one made things feel a little limiting and again slightly isolating for dog-owners.||Despite these points, we enjoyed our stay and do plan to return without a dog.

The Lodge location is literally on the beach with stunning views. The lodge itself has all the amenities you could expect and was very comfortable and clean. No noise noticed from any neighbours. The staff we did see were very professional and the service top notch. Only issue was having a non ev car removed from a charging bay so i could charge. This could / should be better policed as its an offered service.|Overall a very enjoyable trip and we will go again.

We’ve stayed at Carbis Bay Estate a few times now and absolutely love it, but this time was extra special as we were surprised with an upgrade to one of the beach lodges. Such a lovely gesture and it really made our stay! The lodge was gorgeous, right by the beach, and we had an amazing time together as a family. Thank you so much to the team for making it so memorable. We always look forward to coming back – it’s one of our favourite places! The Sahota family

Most of our stay was lovely — the hotel and facilities were beautiful, and we were really looking forward to a relaxing time together. Unfortunately, our experience at the C Bay Spa completely changed how we felt about our stay. One of the staff members was extremely rude and made us feel singled out and discriminated against. When we kindly asked for robes, we were abruptly told to bring the ones from our room next time. What made this worse was seeing other guests, who were not Asian, being provided with robes, towels, and slippers without any issue or hesitation. It was our first visit and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, so this treatment was deeply disappointing and hurtful. We never expected to feel so unwelcome, especially at a place known for its hospitality and high standards. It’s a real shame that such an experience overshadowed what could have been a perfect stay. We hope management takes this matter seriously to ensure that no other guests have to go through the same.

The staff at the desk were great. Very friendly and very helpful. However, the hotel needs a facelift. The carpets and many upholstered chairs are stained. They really need to replace the carpet. The paint on the walls in the bathroom and halls is pealing. There was mold on the shower floor. There were crumbs on the table and floor in the sitting area. For the money and the 5 star luxury hotel rating we were disappointed in the overall condition of the hotel. I would look for another hotel to stay at.

Yelp
The Carbis bay hotel is set right on the edge of the gorgeous Carbis Bay in Cornwall. I have frequented here a few times - after a coastal walk, for My sisters wedding here, I came here for a high tea and I also came for a lunch. The views from the hotel, gardens, conservatory, patio are amazing - worth coming for this alone. My sister also stayed inside the hotel and was very pleased with her room. They have refurbished and expanded recently and it shows. They have a heated pool, and a spa. My sisters wedding went without a hitch, and she was very pleased with her wedding arrangements, service, wedding planning and food at the reception and evening do. I have also had a high tea here with my parents - and thoroughly enjoyed the delicate sandwiches, tea and their wonderful sweets. Here is some information about the history - Built in 1894 by the renowned Cornish architect Silvanus Trevail, the Carbis Bay Hotel quickly gained popularity as a result of the boom in British seaside holidays, which had been made possible by expansion of the railways. Indeed, at the turn of the 19th century, neighbouring Carbis Bay station was a grand affair, boasting its own stationmaster, station house and full-time staff. Today, the business is owned and managed by the Baker family, who have made significant developments to the hotel. Due to this ongoing investment programme, Carbis Bay is widely recognised as one of Cornwall's premier waterside hotels. The Estate comprises 125 acres within which is situated the 47-room hotel and most of our coastal properties. This place is a MUST DO FOR A VISIT OR A STAY when coming to Carbis Bay.

Yelp
I have now been to Cornwall a grand total of five times over the last four years and each time I drive along the road from Lelant to St Ives I am left in awe of the beautiful coastline. Cornwall has many stunning area's but St Ives has stolen my heart and run away with it. There are many different beaches to keep everyone from sun worshippers to surfers occupied. Porthmeor is a surfers paradise, a huge sandy beach with enormous waves provide the perfect setting for thrill seekers. Above Porthmeor stands the Tate Gallery, the ultimate place for any art lover. Porthgwidden is more secluded but again it has fantastic waves, a perfect family beach with lots of rock pools for the little ones to explore. It is also small enough to allow children to wander without ever losing eye contact, which as a parent is always a bonus. Porthminster is the most fashionable beach on offer in my opinion, it is a beautiful beach with a golf course and a resturant all on site. Perfect for any young couple. My personal favourite is Carbis Bay, this stunning beach just around the corner from St Ives but just as busy on the weekend. The sea is a lot calmer here which makes it easier to see the fantastic colours of the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately it is still extremely cold but when it's that beautiful who cares? The Carbis Bay hotel is just as stunning as the bay itself. Standing guard on a hillside over-looking the beach it's the perfect setting for a relaxing break. The hotel has many facilities, Amusement arcades for the youngsters, Resturant & well stocked bar for the adults, The jewel in the Carbis Bay hotels crown is however the roof terrace. Enough to satisfy any sun worshippers needs the roof terrace is home to a pool and a bar with a view to die for. I would highly recommend this hotel for families or couples that enjoy the pleasure of a lazy holiday! You would have to go to the Caribbean to find anything to match this superb coast line. I have been to the Caribbean where I paid one hundred pounds to see dolphins, the last time I took a trip to St Ives my family were treated to a visit from the local dolphins for free, not once but twice!

Yelp
This is all a bit too posh for me. Tiny portions and relatively large prices. The food tastes good though and the service is both friendly and attractive. Haven't stayed here but the location is pleasant and the hotel has a good old history going back over a century.

Yelp
This hotel overlooks the broad sweep of Carbis Bay, with access to the beach, and a pool. Many rooms have lovely views. The nearby train station has services into St Ives, or you can enjoy the walk into town along the cliffs. The rooms are pleasantly decorated in a modern style. Many have sea views. The restaurant serves good modern cooking, and the conservatory does bar snacks and afternoon tea. Rack rate is £81 (low season) to £101 (high), per person for DINNER, B&B.

Yelp
Today we took our elderly mother here for a Mother's Day lunch, we arrived to find a packed car park and a very frazzled member of staff trying to appease customers arriving. It should be noted that the approach to the hotel is very steep and when busy impossible to drive close to the entrance with elderly/frail guests. Dinner was served in a beautiful setting with glorious sea views but was spoilt by the long wait to be served every course, we waited so long between courses we were sat at the table for nearly two hours for what in fact were three very meagre courses. Even my octaganarian mother commented that two potatoes was a little on the mean side! We were guided to a conservatory for our coffee wich would have been delightful had we not had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive despite me enquiring after half an hour as to where it was. The final rub was seeing an advert for Sunday lunch at the reception desk for five pounds cheaper than we had to pay today for the privilege of being there on Mother's Day! To be fair the manager did refund the cost of our coffees when I told him of the poor service but I don't think we will repeat the experience next year.

Yelp
Although I have never stayed here I have attended functions here. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The setting itself is truly amazing and the building has superb views. The food has never disappointed whether it be a Christmas do, wedding or sunday roast.

Yelp
Oh, the Carbis Bay Hotel. Whilst I've never stayed here, the functions that I have been to here have been perfect. Delicious food, great atmosphere. Sitting in the bar area, watching the night draw in over the beautiful Carbis Bay Beach is a step away from heaven. For our function we had roast beef which was the best I've ever tasted, and the extras they put on - from crackers on the table to balloons that caused hours of fun - it truly was a great evening. Friends of the family have visited on a late break to the hotel in September - the perfect time of the year to visit apparently! Enjoy!
