10 Places to Fall in Love With Fall

"Redwoods are synonymous with the forests of Northern California, but nestled in the foothills of Orange County, hundreds of miles south of their native range, you can find a three-acre oasis of these tall wonders in Southern California. Dating to the mid-1970s, these trees were saplings being given away by a local bank. The leftovers were donated to the county, which planted them in the shadow of the Carbon Canyon Dam.  At less than 50 years old, the tallest among this group is only almost 100 feet tall, dwarfed by the much, much older trees found up north, many of which are well over 300 feet tall." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

I took my kids (5+3) here to hike through the Redwoods, it was beautiful. I was surprised when I got there at how nice the rest of the park was. Very nice picnic area around a small lake with clean bathrooms. And there are several cool play structures all in one area that the kids really enjoyed. Excellent spot for a little day trip, great for kids.

Google
Very nice park, The redwoods are beautiful. The trails are not hiking trails but more walking pathways, most lead to residential areas. Lots of rabbits and small animals on the move. This place is very clean park to the restrooms... $3 parking on weekdays $5 on weekends. Dog friendly. Enjoy

Google
Beautiful park with lots of picnic areas, playgrounds, fields to run around, a pond to fish, and trails. The redwood grove is beautiful and cool. We loved our walk through here.

Google
Beautiful park with a great mix of terrain and elevation. It’s got volleyball, playgrounds, a butterfly garden, and the only redwoods in Orange County. Lots of accessible parking and trails. The trail to the redwoods is not shaded and is mostly sand and dirt, something to be mindful of if there are any mobility issues on those terrains. Lots of shade elsewhere and so many beautiful birds and even bunnies!!!!

Heidi Padilla Ruvalcaba

Google
First time visiting, paid $5 for parking last Saturday. Clean restrooms, plenty of parking, marked walking/ hiking trails. Beautiful landscape and lots of wildlife. Did not see snakes but warning signs noted through hikes.

Alisha Hunt

Google
Beautiful park with plenty of picnic areas and a little lake. The trails are quite exposed. Definitely bring sun block and water if you're here to hike. It is also cool to see redwoods without having to go up North.

Google
This is a very nice park. Cost to park on weekends is $5.00. We went in to the left LOTS D-F. Parked just after the tennis courts. Walking the dogs was nice. A lot of shade. Benches and walking path were covered under canopies of trees. These lots had 3 large playground areas for kids. Many shaded picnic areas with grills. Only thing I can say negatively is the duck poop near the large pond. That's it. And everyone can walk by that with ease using the pathway. There are areas that have exercise spots. A lot of walking paths too. I'e seen people ride their bikes, scooters and skateboards. Not too many though where you need to be too cautious. Park is huge. And I've seen people taking pro photos for babies, couples w/children and wedding. Nice light filtration through leaves of trees. Komorebi is the perfect word to describe the light through the trees. Of course dog-friendly or we wouldn't be here. Our doggies Brutus & Caeser loved it. We will be returning.

Anna DuBose

Google
The sequoia trees were smaller in diameter than expected. Every trail led to a residential area. The main areas were lovely, with abundant foliage and beautiful flowers. Even the bees were busy pollinating.

Yelp
What a fun place to hike! It's pretty big, there are multiple playgrounds for different ages, multiple places for different sports, a decent-sized lake in the middle that allows fishing, a butterfly garden, and lots of unique hiking areas. My kids loved the paved paths for scootering. They also loved the playgrounds - there's plenty of shade around them as well. We hiked Redwood Grove, and what a nice little treat in SoCal! As long as you're not going there expecting Sequoia-sized trees, it's a great place to explore and take in the scenery. The hike to get there is pretty easy, and there are signs that explain more about the area as well. I saw some bikers, so I think there's a bike path that also leads to the grove - not 100% sure though. We also enjoyed the butterfly garden. When we walked the area, there were people doing what looked like a wedding photoshoot. There are lots of plants, and a couple of nice walkways that run through. We saw 12 butterflies in the area! It's pretty well maintained. They also have a Junior Ranger program - see website for details because it only occurs on certain days.

Yelp
One of our favorite parks to go to around here! My best friend from childhood came down to visit with us today such a treat with her two kids so baby girl and them can play and we could catch up. My husband drove and she had the bikes on her car so the kids could ride their bikes here. We brought chairs so we can sit down and we can relax and let the kids play since they have playgrounds all around. They had a lot of geese out today which was beautiful. They came around the playground and were hanging out with us then a little squirrel came to visit me again maybe he remembers me from my last photo here lol. It was beautiful out not busy at all. We had a nice time catching up and talking. We all had a great time at the park. Even though I'm hurting so badly it was worth it to spend the day outside with my best friend husband and our kids. I absolutely love this park it is so peaceful here. If you've never been, I highly recommend you come try this part out on the weekends. It's five dollars during the week. It's three dollars so we had to pay the three dollar fee today to get in but they have a lot of parking around. They have a nice hike in the back to the redwoods which we didn't go on today because my legs were hurting too bad so we just sat down and enjoy the beautiful day :) Thank you for keeping this park so clean and pretty for everyone to enjoy and for friendly service when we arrive. Love this park! Aloha

Yelp
Surprisingly I had never heard of this park before until I asked Gemini for places in the area that could be good for a evening walk near a lake. Parking is $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. The park is large and beautiful. There's a little lake, picnic tables, a playground, and a side hike (level easy) that features a little redwood grove. I'm not sure if I explored everything Carbon Canyon has to offer, maybe there's even more, but everything I did see was quite lovely. I would definitely go back and I recommend to anyone considering visiting.

Yelp
Came here for birding and was very pleased with everything we found! Parking is $5 on Saturday and the attendant was very helpful and friendly. There is plenty of parking and restrooms and porta-potties (near the trails). We parked near the back and followed the red wood trail. The redwoods were really cool! Never knew they existed here. At first, we did not see many birds. But when we walked around towards the entrance where the geese are, we saw many different ones in the trees. The coolest finds were a Red-Shouldered Hawk perched on a tree branch, a Downy Woodpecker, the very colorful Egyptian Goose, and the beautiful and bright Western Bluebird!

Yelp
Brea, Ca. Very nice place for a leisurely hike that is easy. There are several trails that branch off into non park trails too, so you can take as long a hike as you want. The highlight here is the redwood grove that some dedicated individuals have managed to nurture by into a mature grove, very impressive. The native plant area is interesting also, but they have not kept up with keying the species. The natives are generally not too dramatic in the winter anyway. Easy parking, $5,

Yelp
Carbon Canyon Regional Park spans 124 acres and is home to Southern California's only grove of redwoods. Parking is $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. There are multiple parking lots throughout the large park so there is ample parking everywhere. The main park has five playgrounds, eight tennis courts, two baseball fields, three volleyball courts, multiple covered shelters with grills, plenty of grassy areas, and a 4 acre lake in the middle for fishing. Outside of the main park area are multiple dirt trails. To get to the redwoods, go down the coyote pass and follow the markers for the redwood grove. Fortunately it's only a 1.1 mile short hike to see the redwood groves. You don't need hiking shoes to walk through but I'd definitely recommend closed toe shoes. The park has tons of restrooms and is well-maintained throughout. It was peaceful walking around the park and watching the ducks near the lake. It's great for picnics and gatherings as well as strolls and running. There are plenty of things to do, whether you just use the park or the trails or both.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the vibe of this park! You can have a family gathering to horseback riding. They have trails and normal walking areas. Everyone there was super friendly. I work semi close to this area and never knew this existed. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
This park is fantastic! On the weekends, it's usually $5 entry for a car load. This money is put to great use maintaining the grounds, play areas, and multiple restrooms. I was extremely upset by the Redwood Grove by no fault of the park itself. It was the other visitors who were at fault. Many people were taking professional photos, climbing on the base of the trees, picking off bark, and I even saw a visitor carving into the trunk of a tree! Maybe some game cameras could be installed in the area to help deter misuse and destruction of the space?
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
We came here to see the small redwood grove at the bottom of the canyon. It's a step hike down from the neighborhood where we parked our cars. It was very peaceful in the groove. There's a small dirt loop that goes around the grove with a wooded boardwalk trail through the middle. It's an easy hike, except for the climb down and back up, for those who might have mobility issues.

Yelp
This is in a forest like area of Brea. There is a fee to get in, and you have options for many parking lots. There are many photo opportunities with the huge trees. The elevation was not much but the views were amazing. Some many huge trees and a tour of the park and the pond on the end of our trail. I did not see too many trash cans but I did see water fountains on our trail. There was one specific area where people loved taking pictures, if you go while many people are there, you will know. When I exited, I was on a quite road, but I had quick access to all the city areas. There is a nice coffee shop nearby, call ahead for hours.

Yelp
This place is absolutely gorgeous with lots to do. There is a $3 entrance fee but well worth it. So much to do and huge. Very clean and perfect for a day at the park and a walk.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty little trail that includes seeing redwoods! This trail is a nice walk where you can see flowers, plants, and birds. There's a beautiful lake and the park seems very clean.

Yelp
I been coming to chino hills for years on Fridays and always parked at the discovery center. Well one day they were late opening the gate to parking so decided to turn my car around and head over to this area entrance. Let me tell you. It was the best decision ever. This park opens at 7am and parking is cheap. $2 on weekdays and $5 on the weekends for all day parking. I parked and walked over to the trail to start my run and after my run I noticed a photographer taking family pictures. This is a great family space with plenty of parking and great walking trails for all. I'm looking forward to start exploring more of this place.

Yelp
This is a spacious, well-maintained park with an entry fee ($3 on weekdays as of this writing). I came specifically to walk the trail to see the Redwood Grove. The trailhead is located at parking lot A and there is plenty of signage along the trail to guide you to the Grove. It is mostly flat and an easy walk (I wouldn't even call it a "hike") that took me less than 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. The Redwood Grove itself is beautiful but not a large area. Don't expect the mighty Redwoods of Northern California. These trees are more slender yet tall. You can feel the temperature decline as you walk beneath their shade. There is a wooden fence to guide you along a trail through the Grove but there are several benches off the trail where one can sit and become one with nature. What I loved most was the smell...the scent of the Redwoods. There were probably a dozen people either sitting or quietly walking through the Grove while I was there. All was zen until a couple of young people entered the area with a boombox playing tunes; not loud but it still spoiled the atmosphere of enjoying quiet and natural sounds of the small forest. That prompted me to leave a little sooner than I wanted. Note: one part of the trail labeled as "Coyote Pass" takes the visitor across Carbon Canyon Creek which is usually dry but, as there had been heavy rains the prior week, there was water flowing on the day I was there (and thus some barricades were in place with "trail closed" signs that were ignored by rebels like me). The stream was small and only an inch high at the deepest point so was simple to gently slosh through.

Yelp
I've been going to this park ever since I was a little girl and it still remains the same. The park has so many different trails that one can walk on and the smell of grass is so delightful every morning. They do their best in keeping the grass maintained and there is some duck poop here and there. The park is always very clean and makes me so happy to see so many people coming here still.

Yelp
Admission only cash/ visa/ mastercard. No atm on site. Clean park, fishing with license when 16 years or older.

Yelp
Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea is one of our favorite regional parks. The park is beautiful, well-maintained, and easy to hike. We parked our cars at lot A and then walked the trail to see Redwood Grove. Parking fees: $3 per vehicle entry Monday - Friday; $5 Saturday - Sunday; the fees are higher for some holidays and events. The nature trail to the park's beautiful Redwood Groves is about 1.1 miles. Once you enter Redwood Grove, the temperatures drop 10 degrees immediately. The park has five playgrounds, eight lighted tennis courts, two ballfields, three volleyball courts, and a native plant garden that offers fun outdoor recreational opportunities for the whole family. You can also go fishing with a license if you're 16 years or older. It's such a peaceful park to walk with my family and my dog.

Yelp
A little treasure of a walking spot in northern O.C. There's actually a number of areas you can walk around in the park itself, but most come here for the redwoods. It's a really small space so don't expect it to be anything like the Redwoods in Northern California, but still worth visiting. Do note that the redwoods will likely be closed about two or three days after rainfall, as a safety precaution made by the park itself. If you happen to come here where it is closed, there is a nice walkable area around the grass and concrete areas and there's also a back side of the park with a small herb garden, that's just as fun to stroll around. There is a daily parking fee here: $3 on the weekdays and $5 on the weekends. There is ample parking here (at least on the weekdays...and possibly less on the weekends), but the park is pretty big, so you should be okay. Lots of birds and nature things here, too...so if you just want to get away from town and just breathe and relax, this is a nice place to do that. One of my favorite neighborhood parks and will be coming back!

Yelp
This has become my favorite park recently. I try to avoid parks that have parking fees, but that hasn't stopped me from coming here almost every weekend for past six weeks. I honestly don't even mind paying the fee because this park is clean and well-maintained. It' such a serene, peaceful park with family friendly hiking trails, one of which leads to OC's only grove of redwoods. Trail entrance is at the back of the park by the unpaved, gravel parking lot. You can take the regular trail, or the wider, less shaded trail on outer perimeter. I recommend just taking the regular trail, which is the one most people take. It's such an easy hike, even my little kids can do it. There are few other trails but I haven't tried any of them yet. In terms of amenities, it has sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, several playgrounds, picnic shelters, BBQ area, 4-acre lake with two piers for fishing, ball fields, and equestrian trail. At the moment parking is $3 on weekdays, $5 on weekends, and $7 on holidays.

Yelp
Our dog got major fleas here from laying under the Redwood trees. It was really unfortunate because we enjoyed hiking the dirt trails and the redwood trees were beautiful. We were sitting on a bench under the redwood trees to take a break, and our dog was laying on the leaves near our bench. She's never had fleas before, she's an indoor dog and hasn't been exposed to any dogs or cats and didn't get near any other animals that day. She literally had fleas all over her after we visited the park and we've had to treat the dog and our entire house. Huge headache. Maybe it was a one off or something but just wanted to warn other dog owners who visit. I'm pretty certain she got them from the redwood area. She didn't walk in the grasses or anything else besides the dirt trail and then laying under the redwoods. Besides that they had beautiful flowers around the trail, mostly flat dirt trails but it was a relaxing leisurely walk until the flea ordeal afterwards.

Yelp
I love visiting the park specifically for the Redwoods! It's such a beautiful hike and the trees are so cool. It's an easy enough hike for those just wanting to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Yelp
How I loved my visit to this park. What a nice surprise to find this place so amazing. The coastal redwoods were so beautiful to look at. It feels so serene here with birds chirping and rabbits hopping through the woods. The one mile trail to see the redwoods is very beautiful with wildflowers all around and easy to do. You will find benches throughout the grove to sit and relax or meditate. The park it self it clean and green, the restrooms are super clean and the kids playground is very nice as well. Lots of picnic tables all around. Some can be rented for events. There is also a small fishing lake how cool is that. Anyways you need to visit to see what I mean.

Yelp
Heard there were redwoods at this park !!! A fun adventure for a casual Sunday. Came around 12pm and it was 5$ for admission, cash only. Tons of parking -we parked at Lot E and walked into the park -breezy and lots of shade. The entrance to the redwood trail is towards the back -away from entrance. Super sandy trail with iron fences (there's parking right at the trail open but I wouldn't advise if you don't want your tires roughed up). The actual trail is ~15 minute of no shade (bring hat/sunscreen/water). There are signs directing you to the trail (whole park is just an oval). The redwoods patch -for me was exciting. There are benches to sit + lots of shade. Some folks were having picnics on the ground but to lug all that -nah. It'd be better to just have a picnic at the main park and walk here after. Great area for holiday pictures and the trail is mostly flat + kid-friendly. Wouldn't recommend a stroller bc it is dirt trail/lots of rocks Notes: -Lots of shade/bbq spots/playgrounds/tons of parking -Can do a quick drive around park to scope area for bbq/party spot -One way in/out -Lots of clean restrooms -OC Parks pass for military sold here on weekdays -

Yelp
Place is nice / some areas are maintained but the staff at the gate could be a little nicer when asking for directions or a map. I drove up on a Saturday because I called 21st, I had called since the 18th just to ask a question and either the phone rang all the time / no answer / no communication pertaining to questions involving the park. Arrived on the 21st and was told no tap / cash or credit card only.. ok so paid. Then when I asked directions the lady in the front said "i don't know just drive to the left" I was asking for information on the "redwoods" trees since I wanted to just snap pics. They won't give you info on where they are nor do they tell you it's not available to the public. I drove to the "F" lot and just tried to look around since I wanted to take photos with my kids, a ranger pulled up and I asked where the redwood trees were located since I wanted to snap some pics, I was told "they're back there but unless you have a photography credential or permission from the park, you can't go back there or else we'll slap you with a fine for trespassing". I am a photographer and do media for various companies and I am aware to get credentials but to a park that has no information what so ever is absurd. Maybe instead of remodeling the driveway, you can help by getting staff up to standards with info / answering the phones and just being honestly helpful. Will I come back to the park , maybe .. Would I recommend the park for photos yes, but do yourself a favor and do not call the park but call the oc park permit office or them director for park info. Oc park permits office is 13042 old Myford rd Irvine ca 92602 P - 866-627-2757

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for for so long. Today I got a chance to pay a visit. It's about 25-35 mins from where I live, depends on the traffic, but it's worth the drive. You have to pay at the entrance, $5 per vehicle per entrance, so if you leave & re-enter, you will have to pay again. They take cash and card btw. There are a handful of different parking areas, some with nice shades. There are at least 2 playgrounds for kids. You can walk around the park on paved trails with benches & "shelters" for resting. Also, restrooms are all across the park. I didn't use them, so I can't comment on the cleanliness. I decided to hike to Redwood Grove at 10AM. Quite crowded on a Sunday morning. It is a dirt, loose-soil trail, but very easy. There are a few shades along the trail. However, once you get to the Grove, you will love it. The air smells so pleasant; I believe the subtle woody & earthy fragrance is from the redwoods, especially from their barks. It makes me feel so calm, relaxed & at ease. I definitely can take a nap there. There are also a few benches if you want to stay there for a little while. I would recommend to hike before 9AM during summertime to avoid the heat. Unfortunately, there are a bunch of trash, plastic wraps, napkins, etc. on the ground despite a lot of trash cans being distributed around the park & along the trails. At the Grove, I noticed a lot of glitter confetti foil pieces all over the ground. I wish people would be more conscious about our impact on the environment. "Pack it in, pack it out!" so that the next person/generation can also enjoy nature.

Yelp
One of our favorite places for family pictures. Quiet and peaceful with many different areas of the park to get great shots!

Yelp
Came here for a baby's birthday party and it was very nice! The park itself is huge with multiple playgrounds, a pond and tons of wildlife like birds, ducks and geese. Our party hosts mentioned that it was $200 to reserve the cabana space for their party and $70 per 2 vendors-- they had a food vendor, face painter and photobooth vendor and all 3 had plenty of space to set up what they needed. You do have to pay for parking... I think it's about $20 to park there. We've visited this park several times and have been all over it and it's always a nice, well-maintained space that feels very safe.
google avatar

Rosabell M.

Yelp
This park is gorgeous! I didn't know about this place until I booked an outdoor photo shoot for my niece and nephew and saw it was an option. There's a $5 entrance fee, and the park offers a playground, hiking trails, tennis courts, and a small pond with ducks. The trees are stunning, perfect for photos!
google avatar

Cat V.

Yelp
I wouldn't call it a hiking trail. It's a short walk where you can have a picnic beside the manmade lake and then take a leisurely stroll towards the Redwood Grove. The Redwood Grove is tiny; it's a maximum 3-minute walk even if you're trying to take lots of pictures. Many wedding and family photographers try to capture images there, resulting in a lot of traffic in such a small walking area, and it feels like there's no privacy or romance. From the parking lot to the Redwood Grove, the path is sandy, and there isn't much to see, probably also due to the season and weather conditions. The dam didn't impress me; it appears more like a small, abandoned structure compared to the larger dams I've encountered. Even the cityscape view feels claustrophobic. Overall, it's an uninteresting small park with small trees to visit. However, for a local post-meal stroll, it might be an ideal place since it's a super easy walk, though just very dusty with a boring view.

Yelp
Beautiful park to sit and relax and get your steps in . You. An also being your babies .

Malyssa V.

Yelp
Have asked about the parking pass in person, and was informed they don't sell them on weekends and only on weekdays. Have been back during the week and they mentioned it's only online, but when I try to buy it online it doesn't work, or says to purchase in person. I think it's convoluted with loopholes intentionally so that people keep having to pay more money each time to even have access to some hikes/trails.

M P.

Yelp
Great park, but it appears they have taken some of the bbq's and picnic benches away. Not sure why the change...but very noticeable. It made it difficult to enjoy and this isn't even peek season yet.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place for hiking. (3.1-mile loop trail). It has 3 acres of Redwood Groves. Although not as majestic as the ones up in Northern California However they are impressive. The park offers tennis and volleyball courts, large grassy areas for picnicking, playgrounds, and a 4-acre lake that allows fishing9. Dogs are permitted on Leashes. Carbon Canyon Regional Park charges a parking fee to enter.
google avatar

Nirali P.

Yelp
This is a great park for hikes including a Red Wood Forest. There is a short Red Wood Forest in the middle of the Regional Park. There are multiple beautiful hikes available to hike. The Carbon Canyon Regional Park is connected to the Chino Hills Park.
google avatar

Amber W.

Yelp
Carbon Canyon Regional Park is home to Southern California's only grove of Coastal redwoods. It's around a one mile nature trail to the Redwood Grove. The park also has playgrounds, tennis courts, and volleyball courts.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Best park I have ever been to, hands down. Hiking trails, butterfly garden, a beautiful pond, 3- play structures, clean amenities, plenty of parking &endless open space for whatever your heart desires.
google avatar

Johana G.

Yelp
Came here for a photoshoot and wow! Where the redwoods are just makes you feel like you've been transported somewhere else. Definitely curious to explore the rest of the park but even just the little hike to the redwoods was a great time!

Yelp
Such a beautiful serene escape into nature near OC! First time here and was in awe of the redwoods. Lots of options for hiking trails, we did the Carbon Canyon trail and the Redwood trail. Well maintained and easy to find. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We visited in late January to see the Redwood Grove! There was plenty of parking, but admission was $5 for the weekend and $3 during the weekday. If you've visited the Redwoods State and National Park in the Bay Area, you might not be blown away by the Redwood Grove as the trees are still young and not incredibly tall, but it was quite beautiful to see them in SoCal. The actual Redwood Grove path itself is not long, and the trees are not incredibly dense. Still, I would bet a better photographer could get beautiful shots here. There's lots of walking and hiking trails in the park too, so I'm sure if you plan on spending more time in the park there would be enough to keep you busy for at least half a day! There's also a generous amount of picnic tables and grassy spots if you plan on enjoying a picnic at the park. For families, there's a playground for kids and a small duck pond near the parking lots.
google avatar

Hannah N.

Yelp
So beautiful, especially the Redwood grove! When you enter, keep to the right and park in lot A for the trail access. We went closer to sunset, which was nice. There were still a lot of families and couples taking professional photo shoots. I love this hidden gem of OC: the redwoods were amazing! I also liked going uphill past the grove to have a clear view from above. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Who knew there are Redwoods in SoCal? The story behind a grove of redwoods at carbon canyon regional park is that a local bank was giving away redwood saplings as a promotion for opening an account with them in the 1970s and as the promotion was drawing down, they gave the remainder to the city which were planted along a back trail of carbon canyon regional park. To get to the redwoods, it's a short half mile hike. At the back of the park where the gravel parking lot is, there is a trail head. Walk down until you see an opening on the left and follow it until you get to a fork in the road and take right path which leads down to the redwoods. It's a very nice area for photos (professional and casual) and big enough to accommodate multiple parties without being in each others background. The regional park itself is pretty nice as well and has a lake and grilling area. Overall a great spot to spend the afternoon having fun.

Yelp
Beautiful park, nice wide open spaces. Everything was fine until I got back to my car. Some low life tried to break in

Yelp
We went on a playdate. Very nice park! We will definitely go there again. Plus, only 5 bucks on weekends.

Yelp
What a beautiful place. Never would you expect the Redwoods are hidden here. It was a short easy hike from the parking lot to the Redwoods. The pond looks like it might be good for fishing. It is worth the $3 just to see what is here

Yelp
A pretty nice regional park! Entrance costed $5 on a weekend. A small price to pay for plentiful parking and fewer crowds in my opinion. The grounds are vast. Beautiful trees and a lake are highlights of the park. I know this is part of nature, but be prepared for a solid amount of pollen in the air plus bugs flying/crawling around :) Great place to spend outdoors nonetheless!
